Anita's had fantastic breakfast! I got the country fried steak and eggs and it was delicious. I had already started eating when I realized I forgot to take a picture first, so I promise the eggs look better when they bring them to the table! Great service. I definitely will be coming back whenever I'm in town!

    Shrimp Po Boy

First trip in after new owners about 5 months ago. I was in a rush and didn't have time for the 16 minute cook time for the broasted chicken, so I opted for a shrimp po boy with a side Greek salad and they were both fresh and tasty. The server was extremely busy but very friendly and attentive. The owner was nice enough to stop but to check on my group and was sharing his new plans for the future of the restaurant. This is worth a stop and seems to be very popular for breakfast offering several unique omelets.

WE must have been at a freak lull. It was packed with huge line as we left around 10:30 am on a Sunday.

The Mission: June 12, 2022 Our quest for the top 3 breakfast spots in the Sarasota, Vamo, Osprey, Nokomis, Venice, North Port, Englewood corridor. Anita's is our 7th entry / challenger. Eggs Benedict w/Ham, Florentine, or specialty (seafood, veggies, corned beef/hash, or others) and hash browns/potatoes and grits are the sides. (((as of this writing & reviewed on Yelp so far - The Breakfast Cottage, Eggstraordinary Cafe, BLVD Cafe, Max's Table, Willow's Cafe, Toasted Mango Cafe.))) Executive Summary: A very nice place with great service. Very good eggs Benedict. Off the top, the service here was extra ordinary by Nicole who made many suggestions and helped us tune our order. As well the daring request of splitting my order so I could try one each of the gold standard egg Benedict. (smile) I received the Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon/ham with tomato and a lovely Hollandaise Sauce that I was afraid of when it came out so generously adorned......but it was fantastic! English muffin was warm and not soggy. the egg was cooked a bit yolk firm. Ham/bacon was nice product and cooked properly. 6/10 My other was an Eggs Benedict Florentine with spinach & tomato. Eggs were perfect on this one. The spinach was fresh and a little bit too lemony and wet/oily for my tastes. I prefer a little more of a cooked/saute texture. My side was home fried potatoes and they were classic and perfect. Light and crisp and firm. Muffin was NOT soggy or wet as many spinach and tomatoes are put on drenched in liquid, oils, butter, or tomato 'juice'. 7/10 My wife got the Eggs Benedict seafood w/shrimp & lobster, tomato. It was very good, Eggs done perfect. the shrimp was not a great product and I suspect by coloring and size maybe a canned deal? but tasted goo with the lobster pieces. A good showing with a not soggy muffin. The grits my wife got were cool, had an firm 'air cap' on top and were not too tasty. 6/10 My daughter has been checking out Avocado Toast as we travel around. This entree LOOKED awesome with nicely sliced avocado on top of a healthy bread slice base. She was not aware there was going to be feta on it, and at that an extremely generous amount throughout. She was not a fan and we will just chalk this up to a bad selection/choice. N/R Parking was awesome because we arrived post early bird, and then before what looks like a brunch rush!!! The parking lot was PACKED and two cars waiting for my spot. There were 10 plus in line at the front door. So be prepared, they are very popular and you can see why! One note or 'nit': with table service I HATE having to go up to a register and wait behind two other folks to pay the bill. I really expect to be taken care of an tip accordingly. Also the suggestion (sign at register) that I should tip in cash so the merchant does not incur the merchant fee and likely short the staff the 3% on tips just rubbed me a little (while I stood in line for 5 plus minutes in the middle of an access aisle being 'excused' and sorry'd' the busy wait staff?) I dunno, just don't like the optics or admonishment. We will see if Anita's makes it into the TOP 3 finalist round in a few weeks/months??? They are a very strong contender so far!!! Why don't you check them out yourself!!!!!!!!!!

Corned Beef Hash & Eggs with grits

Everything was delicious! It was busy, not many parking places left, but we got a table right away. Our waitress was amazing! She had a huge table of 12 and she hustled to get to everyone. I had corned beef hash with eggs, grits and a grilled biscuit. Hubby had a veggie omelette with potatoes. Sister had quiche. We were all pleased.

Grilled biscuit, Greek omelette, and grits yummy!

Alway love stopping here for breakfast. We make a trip to this side of Florida and make sure to stop at Anita's family restaurant for breakfast. The food is cooked to our request. The booths provide a quiet space for personal conversations. The staff is very friendly our waitress was Mary S. Loved that she kept my coffee cup full and was always available. I had the Greek omelette with grits and grilled biscuit, my wife had two eggs over easy and home fries and pork chop (2). If you are ever in this area stop by and enjoy some good cookin!

Very friendly staff. Location was extremely clean. The menu had a great selection. They use applewood bacon so it comes nice and crispy. Food was deliver hot and tasted great. In today's economy price point was good.

    Stuffed French toast!

I wasn't even aware of this place when I stopped here. I was just driving and looking for a place to stop for breakfast. It was definitely a little gamble that paid off. On a Sunday morning, I was able to be seated right away and had a waitress there within seconds. I ordered the stuffed French toast and a single pancake. They were both prepared very well and full of flavor. Prices were about the going rate and the portions were perfect. The location made it easy to find and right on the way for me. I definitely don't have a bad thought or thing to say about Anita's. I'm only in town for another week, but I think I will be returning here a few times.

Pops Sunset Grill…read more Atmosphere and Service Parking was difficult to find when we stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. Once inside, we were seated on the outdoor deck overlooking the water. Our first table wobbled so badly that we asked to move to another nearby. The restaurant has a casual, no-frills Old Florida atmosphere. Plenty of fans kept the air moving in the heat. Our server took our drink and food orders promptly, but we later had to flag her down for refills and extra napkins. What We Ordered * Chef's Ceviche: Octopus with lime juice, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, olive oil, and avocado, served with tortilla chips. * Harbour Island Bahama Mama: A half-pound burger topped with pineapple, mozzarella, and teriyaki, served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. * Maine Lobster Roll: Lobster with tarragon aioli, mixed greens, and tomato on a brioche roll, served with a side salad. Food and Overall Experience The Chef's Ceviche was fresh but unremarkable, and the portion felt small. The burger, however, was excellent--cooked perfectly to medium-rare, with the pineapple adding a flavorful twist that elevated the dish. The coleslaw and lobster roll were both good, though neither stood out. The side salad was fresh and satisfying. Overall, the burger was the clear highlight of the meal. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Gulf Coast Terry

Thank goodness the weather has finally gotten nicer and that suffocating summer heat has eased up,…read morebecause I can finally get back to one of my absolute favorite spots - Nokomo's Sunset Hut! I was SO happy to be back. I have seriously missed their tacos! I stopped by Friday for the lobster tacos, and they did not disappoint. Big, juicy, flavorful pieces of lump lobster claw meat that you can actually sink your teeth into - so, so good! I couldn't decide on a side, so naturally I had both: the pineapple coleslaw (pretty much the only coleslaw I'll eat!) and the chips. And my Lime in the Coconut margarita was delicious. But Nokomo's is about more than the food. I missed the whole vibe - happy, fun, relaxing, and absolutely breathtaking. That waterfront sunset key view is one of a kind and pretty tough to beat. The staff was friendly and attentive as usual, and I also noticed they paved the parking lot! Such a nice improvement and much easier to walk across. While I was taking updated menu pictures, I noticed my old menu photos on Yelp - For the most part, the menu has stayed pretty consistent. What really surprised me was that most prices have only gone up about $3 over the past two years. The lobster tacos are the exception - they've gone up about $8. I've heard they basically break even on them, and all I can say is THANK YOU for keeping them on the menu because they are my favorite! While sitting at the bar, I also saw some oysters go by that looked amazing. They were from Louisiana. And then there was a cheesesteak that was stuffed so generously it looked big enough for two people! I can't wait to try some of those next time. If you haven't been to Nokomo's Sunset Hut, you don't know what you're missing. Come treat yourself to delicious food, a cold drink, live music and those beautiful, laid-back Southwest Florida vibes. And do yourself a favor - go before season gets into full swing, while you can still get in without an hour-long wait! I'm already looking forward to going back for the grouper tacos, along with some of my other favorites - the Aloha Salmon, Caribbean Salmon, Salmon Caesar, or really anything salmon. And anything ahi tuna is always calling my name too!

Update many: June 23, 2026…read more While not great for many business heading into the rainy season and the now flight of the snowbirds up North...... we were able to pop right in....... GET A PARKING SPOT in the gravel lot so my wife could hobble in with her bone on bone knee (getting 'fixed any day now) Service was awesome, hostess fantastic, our server was conversational and fantastic, and the beverages/drinks (the draw for my wife) were generous and tasty as usual. I am a little disappointed at the sides serving "cup" (black beans, yellow rice, and edamame) while the online menus does not post prices they are a little bit more expensive now this year and looking at my pictures from the past a little more diminutive? I do see I substituted and they made up a BEAN taco for me one time so maybe I will switch back to that creation.
