They are known for their macadamia nut pancakes with tropical syrups but those were just very average . The pancakes are fluffy enough but the macadamias are chopped and strewn on top as a topping, which is a let down. The flavor isn't pervasive. The novelty of the three syrups is great. They have a traditional maple, as well as the really fragrant coconut and guava syrups. We dabbled in all three but I think the coconut is the best. For the rest, we both had meals involving Portuguese sausage. Mine came in the form of sausage and eggs, and the sausage had really great color from being pan seared or griddled but it was oh so buttery. His Portguese sausage in an omelette was almost indistinguishable with no similar flavor or char. Their juices are squeezed fresh, which is a plus. The crowds here are pretty big but if you come early, its no problem at all. read more

During our 10 day stay, me and my girlfriend must have eaten here for breakfast 4 out of the 10 days. We heard great things about it. The main thing is to try and get here by 8am (or earlier if you can wake up that early). The line gets pretty long, especially if you have more than 2 people. There are times we line up, and get a table much faster than the other parties because we only have 2 people. For the price, you will definitely get full. I'm a big eater, and for about $10-11, you'll be full until lunch time. We tried several pancakes: macadamia nut, banana, pineapple, and chocolate chip. All of them were crazy good, but I personally like the banana one the most. They also have 3 types of syrup: maple, guava, and coconut. Me and my gf both liked the coconut one the most. (If you want to bring some home, they sell them at the ABC Stores.) We also tried a few of their omelettes. My favorite one was the spinach, bacon, and cheese one. If you wanna try a little variety, you can order an omelette (which comes with a side of pancakes) and pay a few bucks extra and upgrade from a plain pancake to any other one. Definitely a great breakfast spot in Waikiki! read more

Welcome to the tourist trap of Oahu! First glimpse of Eggs n Things shows tourists from all over the planet taking photos in front of this place, standing in line to get a pager to be seated and reading one of the many local tourist publications that list this as the best breakfast on the island. It's marketing at its finest. Pay for an ad in the publication and get promoted. The food is is good, but not worth the minimum 30 minute wait that ensues. And, if you aren't staying nearby, in walking distance, there's almost no free parking. You can park across the street in the post office lot, for $7. The service is fair and friendly as they are bombarded with tourists that expect it. Don't get me wrong, the breakfast here is good and the portions are large, but it's overpriced, which is common in this area, and the quality isn't much different than a diner. What makes eyes glow here is presentation. The owners have established dishes that look wonderful and are appealing to the eye, and if you're a tourist who normally eats at places like Chilis, Applebees and Fridays, or even IHOP, you'll rave about this place. However, if good ingredients are tops on your list quality food expect to leave here full, but not ecstatic. My strawberry pancakes looked wonderful from afar, but at first stab of the knife they tasted no different than Dennys and the strawberries used were the same canned and slushy ones you find in the dessert section of cafeterias, not the fresh stuff you'd expect from the "best breakfast on the island." In addition, my omelet was huge sure, but the Portuguese sausage tasted like it had just been thawed, rather than freshly cut. My buddies bacon and eggs, tasted like that you'd get at any hotel on the island. We left wondering why we drove 30 minutes for a breakfast the tourist magazines said we'd never forget and wasted 2 hours of our day between waiting to be seated, parking and eating. read more

We lucked out when we came here because this was one of those few occasions when they didn't have a wait time, mainly because the APEC convention blocked off most of the traffic. THANKS OBAMA! So we were seated on five minutes and ordered the mac nut pancakes, and fresh ahi steak. The fish was a bit overdone, but the Cajun seasoning was very nice. My time in Oahu had me eating fish everyday so having fish for breakfast was now the norm. The pancakes were great and both the coconut or guava syrups complimented the pancakes like lingerie on Marisa Miller. Although not as spectacular as Boots and Kimo's, it's the best in the Waikiki area. read more

Very friendly staff, pineapple pan cake is so soft not overly sweets. Thinking about it make me want to eat it again!

If you want to try this place out be aware that you have to search for parking in Waikiki. There are a couple of places near by that offers public parking and pricing can start at about $5.00 for two hours of parking on up! Unless you get lucky and find a free parking space by the canal area. At 8:30 am on a Saturday morning, the wait time was approximately 30 minutes long. First you need to register your name downstairs, then your given one of those beepers to let you know when your table is ready and if your lucky you will find a seat outside. Once your table is ready, if your facing the front of the building, look to your right and you will see stairs to the second floor, this is where you will need to go to get seated. Staff was friendly, the dining area was tight, they were quick to serve your drinks and get your order. We had the Mac Nut Pancakes (3), Eggs Benedict and 3 Egg Omelet with Spinach, pepper jack cheese and bacon. If you order the Omelet or Eggs Benedict you can get the Pancakes with it. They charge a little for the Mac Nut. For the Pancakes you have your choice of 3 syrups: Guava, Coconut and Maple. My favorite was the Guava! We enjoyed our food and had a nice breakfast. I would eat there again... as long as I can easily find parking! read more

We showed up to Eggs & Things and were greeted with a line of people waiting to check-in. After putting in our name we went to the Post Office (http://www.yelp.com/biz/us-post-office-honolulu-15?hrid=aVOkHU3OuadKnWqdFIl3jQ&page_src=shared_via_messages_or_emails) across the street to kill some time and pick up stamps for post cards. We were barely done at the self-service kiosk when our buzzer began sounding a serious alarm. It was time to return to the restaurant/table and they weren't joking around! We checked in at a different hostess station upstairs and were seated near a window. Service wasn't great. I'll leave the server's name out, but she was not friendly and didn't really make our breakfast in Hawaii great. It had slowed down a bit by the time we were seated, which appeared to be following the big morning rush. So perhaps she was tired, but... regardless, we placed our orders and sipped our drinks. It was a little hard to get the coffee and soda refilled ($3 each) but we didn't have long before the food came out. I had two eachs $4.25 and one side of brown rice ($1.95) and one side of white rice ($1.95) (nothing else on the menu really sounded great). My husband had the locl moco ($10.55) which was eggs, potatoes, and sausage smothered in brown gravy. The food was okay. Better than the service I guess, but we kind of wished we'd eaten somewhere else when we left. We did try a spoonful of each of the syrups and they were delicious! read more

Spam and rice is spam and rice, always good but not exciting. The macadamia nut pancakes, these were exciting. I'm sure almost everywhere on the island that serves these up have good versions, Eggs n Things just happened to be the place I got my fix. You can get three or five, three was plenty for me. They were delicious, so delicious with that added sweetness of coconut syrup. Calories? To hell with calories I say! read more

A must in Hawaii. The French toast is the best I have ever eaten! The service was great. Don't forget to order a POG juice

Possibly overrated. I have noticed every time I come to Waikiki this place seems very busy. Staying nearby, I finally got a chance to try. Crab cakes benedict was not very good. Soggy, unflavorful crab cakes and cheap hollandaise. Pancakes were vert tasty though, but hard to screw up pancakes. 40 min wait for 1 person around noon. I didn't mind that. Just don't know why this place is so popular. Although it's in the heart of Waikiki. read more

Fantastic service and food! Great prices also! They were so kind and accommodating. We will definitely plan on breakfast for here next time.

I AM A HUGE HUGE BREAKFAST FAN and when I get the chance to eat breakfast somewhere new I take it! This place definately beats out your IHOP, DENNY'S or any other restaurant that serves breakfast. This is more of a reply to the recent two star review (which I think shouldn't have been deserved!): You don't come to Hawaii to have just your typical breakfast! Branch out and try their Macadamian Nut pancakes or waffles. AMAZING! We stayed in Waikiki for a week and at least came to this place twice... we also attempted to make our own macadamian nut pancakes at our condo... but it just wasn't the same. Not only are those macadamian pancakes amazing, but everything else was pretty darn good! The waffles, the spam, the corned beef hash, eggs, vienna sausage, just everything I tried was DELICIOUS! (did I mention I LOVE BREAKFAST!) If you're into breakfast like me I would definately reccommend this place to try! The staff is great, very attentive and friendly! Do expect a wait for a table... come hungry but not starved... but DEFINATELY worth the wait!!! And guava juice isn't really $7 unless you bought like 2-3 glasses of it. WARNING: guava juice does not come with free refills. And yes, the price is up there... but still less than $10. There's always a price to pay for straight goodness. :-) Worth my money! read more

Pretty darn good. We went here for dinner after we read about the breakfast/brunch lines. We were seated right away. Our server, Eddie, was fabulous! We were the only English speaking table in the restaurant (everyone else was from Japan) and our server Eddie was speaking Japanese to everyone like nobody's business! (We asked and he said he lived there for 10 years). We ordered coconut pancakes (my father LOVED them). The potato, bacon, and cheese omelet was very good! The buttermilk pancakes were made amazingly good by the coconut syrup! The blueberry pancakes were pretty good but I wasn't crazy about them. The Loco Moco dinner entree was enjoyed immensely by my family. The service here is great. It is a small dining area, so don't bring a huge group here. The balcony is TINY and hope you don't get stuck out there. Dinner for 4 for $62. You can't beat that in Waikiki!! read more

I've been coming to Eggs 'n Things in Honolulu for over 20 years and it is probably still my favorite place for breakfast. The coconut pancakes are really out of this world and I love the Aloha attitude of the staff. There might be fancier spots, but there really is nothing else like Eggs 'n Things. Still a relative bargain too. There are several locations, so find one that works for you and give it a try. If you love pancakes, this is a "must try" kind of place. You won't regret it. read more

Came here for breakfast and there was an hour and a half wait. A long wait was expected so not a big deal. We browsed through their downstairs store and had time to shop at some other stores on the same street. I was going to buy some items from their store but decided to wait until after we ate. I ordered the pineapple whip pancakes. It was average at best, very flat in flavor. I was expecting much better considering the restaurant's popularity. Portion size was huge though. Our waiter was polite but seemed rather rushed. I didn't have any problems with him. What I found to be completely unacceptable was the attitude of the woman at the register. I paid for our meal in cash on our way out. I had already placed our tip for our server on the table, which I normally do at any restaurant when paying in cash. The woman at the register questioned me about why I did not leave a tip with her. I told her that I had already left a tip on the table for our server. She looked totally unconvinced and just gave me a kind of scowl. This is just plain rude behavior towards customers who are choosing to spend their money at this establishment. I was glad that I held off and did not buy anything from their store before eating because I would have regretted supporting them by buying items bearing their name and logo. read more

The food was excellent. The service was great. The pancakes are very fluffy and they have a variety of selection for the morning that is sure to keep you stuffed until dinner. The porkchop was nicely cooked and topped off with a piece of pineapple. The Acai bowl was so good my kids had twice in a row. The only complaint was about the steak as it was a bit peppery but I am sure if you ask them to tone that down they will. The Kona coffee was great and they come around to top you off without asking. The service was also fast and the turnover is pretty good. This was at the saratoga location. read more

Just happen to hear about this breakfast place from local friends and just happened to be 'just around the corner' from my hotel. I'm giving it a 4 just because we were quoted wait time of 25-30 minutes and our vibrating pad started to erupt after about 5 minutes, so we were happy to head upstairs to the dining room. Definitely great service and a fairly wide variety of omelets, for me I always have egg whites and pick their special portegee sausage....I forgot the take the pic before I dove face down into my plate so I found a funny shot of my meal - the caption should read 'finally, witnessed baby Portuguese sausage being birthed by egg white parents'. I'll make the caption generic on the photo site. The mac pancakes were good...mac nuts mixed into the pancakes and more piled on top..comes with your regular breakfast.. If you only spoke Japanese, no problem this is your restaurant...if I had to wait an hour for a table - 3.5 stars. Not much of a view unless you enjoy a little people watching. read more

The food was good. I enjoyed the banana waffles which had a ton of whipped cream. I enjoy sweets so I didn't mind. Coffee was average, but I went for the food. For the price was thinking it could be a little better. However I still gave it 4 stars since I would and will go back. read more

Not worth waiting, servers don't know what's on menu, foods not great, save your time & money,

I was told to go here for the Loco Moco. It was ok. If you want a real one you must go go to Rainbow Drive in. Twice the size and 1/2 the price and it is served with macaroni salad. Hardly no gravy was on this one. This was 26 dollars for this little bowl. Rainbow was 9.75 for a huge plate. read more

After all the hype, this place was disappointing, but it was still decent food. I'd seen all the great reviews and thought this would be a really good breakfast option, which is tough to find in Waikiki - this is pretty much the same. We each had an omelet and split the french toast special. Portuguese Sausage Omelet - I will admit that it looked perfect, but the taste was just okay. The sausage and eggs were cooked well. Sweet Bread French Toast (Special) - This also looked incredible, but did lack flavor and did not have the sweetness someone would expect from french toast...even adding syrup only made it taste slightly better. The service was very good and friendly. All in all, this place was okay - definitely not worth the long 1 hour wait we had. If there's no line, this is okay, especially for Waikiki, where good food is hit-or-miss. read more

Bland food. Waiter was horrible and seemed as if we were a bother to him. The overall experience was not a good one while on vacation.

"Maybe we can sleep in I'll make you banana pancakes pretend like it's the weekend now" I LOVE BANANA PANCAKES! And I LOVE breakfast goodies! Which makes my relationship with Eggs N Things a match made in heaven. :) There are a few things you should know about Eggs N Things before you come.... 1) The line can be ridiculous at times but so worth the wait. So go early!! 2) Eggs N Things must be listed in some Japanese Tourism guide because loads of tourists get dropped off by the busloads at times. 3) Portion sizes are HUGE! (Including their bucket-size colas.....) Their Banana Pancakes are one of the best I've ever had. Light and fluffy with chopped bananas in the batter and on top! With just a drizzle of their syrup over the cakes and I'm a happy camper! Their coconut syrup is also amazing! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/V1iKlogl2UmpkpKZbY-zxQ?select=oYKQShC1knTgNzjI6kJ-QQ To fulfill my savory side, I often order a side of their Portuguese sausage or thick cut bacon. Breakfast Dining 1/14/10 I definitely agree with Tammy T on this place. This place does not live up to the hype. The BF and I arrived at approximately 8:30 and the wait was 45 minutes. In actuality, it ended up being closer to one hours. We figured it had to be worth it based on the wait and glowing reviews. The atmosphere: This is probably the smallest dining establishment in Waikiki for breakfast. When your buzzer goes off you are told to proceed upstairs to a room that doesn't look like it seats more than 50 or so people - and this includes the counter style bar seating outside where they cram you in like sardines. The service: Needs vast improvement. While waiting the BF wondered upstairs to look for the bathroom. The snobby hostess (Justine I believe her name is - fluent in Japanese) told him he didn't have any business upstairs. He was fuming! That alone made our decision to never return. Justine was overly friendly and accommodating to the Japanese patrons, perhaps we just didn't fit the mold. That is very unfortunate. Shame on you Eggs & Things! You really need to step up your game on customer service. Understand that no one group of peoples green is better than the other. Too bad you have to be put on notice about such common sense practices. The food: Just okay, but definitely nothing to write home about. I ordered the spinach, bacon, and cheese omelet. The BF ordered an omelet as well. I was not impressed. I enjoy my omelet with all the fix-ins cooked well throughout, not simply thrown inside when the egg is cooked and then flipped over. What a disappointment. The pancakes were good. However, I would definitely recommend skipping Eggs & Things. Walk to IHOP for excellent service, consistently good pancakes and coffee. And as usual, at IHOP the price is always right. read more

This is usually one of the places my wife and drop by on our visits to Waikiki, but now will have to cross off our list of places to eat. Last night we walked in and were told the upstairs room is closed. The only seats available were in the downstairs area. The only seats we could choose from were in the direct sunlight. I guess business is so slow that they opt not to use the larger comfortable area upstairs. We were able to switch to another table, but we had to be a bit protective. I was looking forward to their Loco Moco. It is your standard burger patty over rice with a fried egg on top (they put a double egg on top). The brown gravy they use have onions, mushrooms and Portuguese sausage cut in. It has been quite delicious in the past. My wife and I ordered one order each. Our order came in small paper bowls, and my burger was burnt. Not sure if it was a patty that was sitting around for a while and recooked several times, or it was just burnt. I was starving, and my wife"s order came out okay, so I didn't complain. I also felt that the staff really didn't care. I feel that the restaurant changes into a third rate version of itself after 2PM trading only on it's name. Small portions, paper plates, plastic utensils, possibly using leftovers from the morning instead of fresh food, and to insult to injury, there is an extra $.75 surcharge for each dish after 4PM. The only upside was using the the ID card app to get 20% off. I will say the new guy was nice. After I went up to them to get more water, he was willing to bring us more water afterwards. He may be the only redeeming factor at this place. It may be different in the morning, but I don't think we will ever be returning. It's too bad. I use to look forward to coming here. So sad to what has happened. read more

Second trip here- we came back to Oahu and decided to give this place a second chance as the manager had asked us to do in the previous review. I ordered the eggs Benedict with no hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the Loco Moco. Our food came out and my eggs Benedictcame out with hollandaise sauce on it and I said I ordered no hollandaise. So he took it back and it didn't come out for 20 minutes. My husband finished his whole meal and we still were waiting for me food. We basically took turns watching each other eat. The bill came and they didn't remove it from the bill. Not trying to be cheap but that's bad customer service. Our server was nice though. Positive thing is they have fresh squeezed juices so that was a plus! Oh they don't allow you to bring in coffee. They asked to take it away and hold it for us. Well now that we've been here a second time there WILL NOT be a third time. First visit here-I ordered an omelette and asked for it to be scrambled and the waiter said that they can't scramble it. I said u can't just mix it up? He said no we don't do that but that I can order another item and customize it so that I can have my SCRAMBLED OMELETTE. Would have left if we weren't hungry. That is not good customer service when a customer asks for something so small. read more

i'm not sure what all the hype is about unless you've never had pancakes and eggs at a breakfast house. eggs are just that, eggs, nothing special but i'm glad they got my OE request right. I had the turkey bacon with eggs and upgraded my pancakes with macadamia for an extra $3.95 and asked for bananas and was upcharged $3.00. overall, good but not crazy delicious that I want to roll over in my grave. coffee was average and service was fast and to the point. nothing really to complain about. I was solo and arrived around 9 a.m. (March) and there was only a 15 minute wait, WHEW! compared to the 1 hour wait when we were here last August. no way is the wait worth it, there are other breakfast places within a mile, walking distance, like The Cream Pot (slow service though but good food). read more

Beware: not recommended with those with food allergies and vegetarians. This seems to be a chain restaurant, and we'd seen them all around Waikiki. There was always a line coming out the door so Jamie and I went here for breakfast one late morning. We were a little disappointed by the way the ordering process worked, but I can understand that rent is expensive so I didn't dock any stars for it; you order at the host stand, are given a buzzer and receipt to pay for your meal and stand in a line to be seated. I didn't find the quality of food here to justify the wait outside, which was only about 30 minutes around 11am. It was okay, but I've definitely made better pancakes at home. The food 3-star. The prices aren't outrageous, about what I'd expect to pay for a sit down breakfast in a touristy city. The big pitfall is the service. We were given 2 small cups plastic disposable cups for water, and the server was nice enough to suggest leaving an entire pitcher of water so we could refill with. Our food was brought out and our buzzer was taken off the table, the food was served on paper plates and we were given plastic silverware to eat with.. Eh. Not only does this restaurant not provide sit down-quality breakfasts, it doesn't provide sit-down quality service either. It was worse than "poor" but that's how the restaurant is set up. I couldn't bring myself to tip more than a few dollars (even as a server) as it reminded me of a fast food joint. read more

Minus one star for the wait, and minus another star for waiting on flagging down the waitress. Now if you have patience and are not hungry, you have to eat at this place!!! Also know what you want when you are asked for your order. I had the macadamia nut pancakes and they were really good. I poured on the guava syrup all over that sucker. My boyfriend had the Ahi fish and said it was hella good! We also ordered the Guava juice drink, it was very tasty. The restaurant was really small upstairs. Yet it has a very Southern Plantation look to it. FYI, they charge an extra .50c for a togo box. I was woken up early (7am) and decided to head out for some breakfast. Got there around 8:07am on a weekday, told a 30 minute wait, and was seated after about 27 min. We ordered the portuguese sausages with eggs over easy, and upgraded the pancakes to macadamia nut. We also got a side of spam and fresh guava juice. The spam I found too salty. The egg was good, tasted like it was cooked in coconut oil. The portuguese sausage was tasty and hearty. The upgraded macadamia nut pancakes came in a stack of three and only the top had the sugar. They were still delicious, especially with the coconut syrup. Guava juice was always good. The place is very quaint, but the workers downstairs were a bit annoying with the bullhorn- overkill. Tip - look at the menu and decide what you want while you wait, so you can order once you sit and save time. Definitely get the guava juice, macadamia nut pancakes , portuguese sausage and try the coconut syrup. Yum Some people love this place, some people hate it, but I like it enough to come back. I loved this place! It's so quaint and fun! We expected a long wait, but as we said we would sit at the counter or a table we only waited about 10 mins. We did get sat at the counter which is fine, but it is probably more comfortable at a table as we we were sat on wooden stools. Our view was obstructed by some black mesh, I assume due to the building work going on, but the sunshine made its way through so it was fine. I ordered beef hash with scrambled eggs. You then get a choice of toast, potatoes or pancakes. I ordered pancakes and I would definitely recommend this as you get 3 pancakes so a generous portion & you get the best of both worlds with sweet & savory. I chose to pay extra to get chocolate chip pancakes, but be aware it is an $3.95 extra to get a topping, which I thought was a bit steep for some chocolate chips (the meal itself only $9.95). However, I really enjoyed the meal and it really filled me up for the day. My husband ordered the macadamia nut pancakes, which he really enjoyed, but he thought I had got more pancake with my meal than he got! I can't wait to return here next time we are in Hawaii. I also enjoyed that they have a shop underneath the restaurant with eggs & things keepsakes. read more
