After hearing and seeing all the hype , the girls decided we will give this famous breakfast spot a try. We first went to another location closer to the resort and the host was so rude , we walked away and found this location on Yelp. I was able to use Yelp to get on the waitlist which helped shaved 29 mins off ( thankssss) Everyone at this location was friendly and engaging. I loved that this one was 2 stories with an open balcony . We ordered coffee , teas and brunch and everything was incredibly delicious that we took a to go order as well ! Our experience wasn't the best, but it had some positives. We were dining in downtown Waikiki, so it wasn't surprising that several breakfast menu items featured pineapple--yet the kitchen was completely out of pineapples that day and this was 8am. That felt like a miss given the location. That said, the food itself was quite good. The fried rice with eggs, French toast special, coconut crepes, and chocolate chip pancakes were all well-portioned for the price and tasted great. No complaints on flavor or serving size. Where things became frustrating was the bill. There was a 3% surcharge for using a credit card, plus an additional fee supposedly to support the kitchen staff. On top of that, they recommend a 20% tip. All the extra charges made the experience feel a bit nickel-and-dimed, which took away from an otherwise solid meal. This location is not my favorite; I prefer Ala Moana, but today they were closed because their power was out. The Saratoga location is smaller and parking is more difficult. I end up having to pay at the post office nearby, and the smallest number of hours you can pay for is 2 hours at over $11, so it's a ridiculous charge for parking in my opinion--and Ala Moana has free parking in their lot. Strike two: there's not only a 3% kitchen surcharge but also a 3% credit card surcharge. Why not just charge more for your food items and then pay the kitchen staff more/give them a raise? Ultimately it would be the same price but I will feel less like I am being nickel-and-dimed. Having multiple surcharges just feels different to me as a customer than paying more for my meal. I guess it's hidden costs versus up-front costs. In any case, you might not know about the kitchen surcharge until you get your receipt to check out. Ultimately, I always enjoy the food at Eggs 'n Things. The fresh fruit rainbow pancakes are some of my favorites, and the waffles are great too. The fruit is fresh and the whipped cream is a huge amount. But when I check out and not only am I paying $21.99 for my pancakes, $17.99 for my partner's waffle, nearly $10 for two coffees, and then 3% for kitchen staff, 3% for credit card surcharge, 4.712% Hawai'i sales tax, and now my meal is near $70, plus the parking next door for $11, a meal out for two people is getting dangerously close to a hundred bucks. I live in Waikiki and there are cheaper places for me to eat that are just as delicious. We have been to the Eggs 'n Things in the Ko Olina location so many times (over the last 3 times we have been to Oahu); this was the first time at this location since we were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Waited over our wait time and there was a lot of empty tables but we understand that there could be understaffing. Ask for countertop if you want to wait less we weren't aware you can do that. We got the macadamia nut pancakes which were regular pancakes which were a little dry plus macadamia nuts on top powered sugar we added whipped cream, these needed syrup and wish we liked them more but they were simple. The kalbi was a small portion, the eggs and rice were good. The marinated meat was flavorful but was a little touch and not as tender as others I'd had on the island. Overall we wouldn't wait for this place luckily we got on the yelp waitlist but still ended up waiting a lot longer than expected. Using taro bread was a nice touch! Omelette was good. Not too salty. Pancakes were not as fluffy as we would've liked. I've always raved about their coconut syrup. This is a staple breakfast spot for me! I've been to the islands quite a few times now and every single trip I try to have breakfast here at least once. You can easily reserve a table on Yelp and get sat within 10 min upon arrival. It does get pretty busy and foam a line so I do recommend reserving a day or 2 before. The staff is always sooo nice and helpful when helping with the menu. The prices and food is unbeatable as well. We decided to get the salmon Benedict and the Kalia Pork benedict as well. Both were super yummy 10/10. I do highly recommend their pancakes though! I always get those and they're sooo flavorful and delicious. Love Eggs n Things! This is a great breakfast spot located across from the beach. There's several locations - and this is the one which was closest to our hotel. This one does get pretty packed due to its prime location so I highly recommend checking in on Yelp. We were able to do so from our hotel room before we walked over. Seating here is limited as it is a smaller space, but the servers are really nice and are clearly working to pump food and people out. Portions are huge too! We got two plates and couldn't finish both. Breakfast Wrap (4/5): Nice, filling breakfast burrito. Nothing special to note but it was perfectly made. Portuguese Sausage w Eggs (4/5): So good! I love the warm yellow color of the eggs in Hawaii - feels and tastes so good. Pineapple Pancakes (5/5): My favorite part! Fresh pineapple on top of pineapple in the pancake batter. The pancakes were topped with a ridiculous mountain of what tasted like cool whip, blech. The bennies were hard cooked and had about 1 tablespoon each of hollandaise, not enough. We "signed-in" and we were seated almost immediately (it was around 11:00). The staff were kind and friendly ...and patient! There were so many enticing options. As with many locations we visited, access to outdoor seating was available. Even without sitting outside, the outside was always there... a few birds popped in for very quick visits as staff shoo'ed them away. If you're in the state of hawaii specifically on the island of Oahu you need to find an eggs and things. More of a local spot but very inviting to tourist as well. Our preferred one was the one on Saratoga. Our server Stella was hands down the friendliest and most attentive server our entire trip. True hospitality. It was a quaint little locations maybe about 20 tables but it's worth the wait if you get put on the waitlist. The location off Saratoga in in a cute two story location that over looks the local neighborhood. All our food was amazing, over the course of multiple trips i did have spam and eggs twice wife was a fan of the create your own omelette. And both days we tried the fruit topped pancakes first one was the tropical which had macadamia nuts, coconut shreds, and pineapple. The other pancakes we had topped with strawberries, blueberries and bananas. They did have tropical syrups which were guava and coconut. Best combo was the coconut syrup with the pineapple pancakes. tasted exactly like a pina-colada . Over all stay away from the tourist spots you'll get the best bang for your buck especially on vacation from locals and better all around service. Phenomenal breakfast. We came around 7 am and had a 10 minute wait but were able to join the Yelp waitlist and it was pretty quick! We were seated on the upstairs patio in a little corner. We orders 2 things: the Eggs Benedict with Taro roll and crab cake and the Rainbow pancakes. This was moreee than enough food to feed me and my boyfriend. Tourist first time in Oahu - we stop by at this place as a recommended by our hotel. We came on a Tuesday morning and it was about a 15 minute wait. The first floor is just the store and to go. The location of the restaurant is on the second floor. I got the macadamia nut pancakes and my partner got the Hawaiian pork chop. Overall, portions were huge. Definitely worth the price. I appreciate that the pancakes had tons of fruit on it to balance the thick pancakes. There were plenty of macadamia nuts in it, and I really liked the various maple syrup they offered. They had a coconut, guava, and traditional maple syrup. They really provided variety to the food. My husband left the Hawaiian pork chop. He said he was definitely full, and we had to walk it off. I ordered the egg scramble with spam that came with a short stack of pancakes. I opted for the macadamia pancakes! When my breakfast came out I was excited, then realized, oh that's a lot of food! But I'm going to enjoy every bite! The scramble was delicious! I'm a self proclaimed pancake snob and very particular of my pancakes. I found the pancakes to be just ok, definitely wasn't a homemade batter, but the macadamia nuts added the perfect another of texture to an otherwise average pancake. I rate this restaurant higher because of the price point and portion size. Large portions, while worth the price for a quality breakfast. This is a classic breakfast/brunch spot with a lot of selection and decent portions. The food is pretty basic with decent taste, but nothing unique per say. If you have a sweet tooth, the crepes and pancakes are great! Loco moco is also good. Wait times can get extremely long (always 30+ minutes) and the service is ok. Im not sure why theres such long wait times when there are multiple empty tables upstairs.
