The price is super cheap. You get just enough food. I'd recommend having cash on you because they do not take cards! Just $20 cash will get you plenty of food. Good stuff! Quick and friendly service. This place gives you the ma/pa type feeling when you walk in. We ordered egg rolls, lo main, and pepper steak. We came with my kiddos so it was a lil chaotic. We enjoyed all of it. Simple meals though. People are telling me to try the flat noodles, so I guess I'll have to come back again to try the flat noodles! This place is pretty busy with to-go orders. I don't normally eat out at fast food places like this, but it was recommended by my aunt who typically has good taste in everything except men. Based on the positive reviews, I figured it was a yummy whole in the wall, but my stomach afterward said "eh, me thinks not!" I ordered the #10, sweet and sour chicken combo and it came with rice and egg rolls. As I was eating it I could tell things weren't going too well. It was greasier than I am used to and I could taste the oil in every bite. I mean yes, it's fried, but still. I think the oil may have been old too. Anyway, I had a tummy ache and my body rejected it. Gratefully, I was visiting my grandparents and they have a lifetime supply of tums and gingerale, so I recovered quickly. There was a point in my collegiate life where I would order takeout from Egg Roll Express every other day. No exaggeration. It was a weird time in my early 20s when I was eating my feelings and then eating some more because I felt sad about getting fat from eating my feelings. The food is amazingly yummy, and incredibly filling. The portion sizes border on the obscene. If you get something like the lunch special, it's a meat of your choice (my favorite was the Hunan Chicken, extra spicy) along with fried rice, an egg roll, and soup. Usually, I'd ask to opt out on the soup and they'd simply overload on the rice to make sure I got my money's worth. Just what you need. More carbs. All of that food there comes to around $5.00-6.00, which I think is pretty reasonable. The customer service leaves something to be desired. On a good day, they're short and to the point and you get in and out (if you're lucky) with a small smile. On a bad day, they'll be yelling to each other and ignoring you even while you're in mid-sentence with them. Customer relations is not their forté, but they make up for it in spades with the food. So really, it's up to you to decide on whether you're okay with spending your money at a place where they could give a rat's nether regions on whether you feel welcome or not. I had one particularly bad experience with them that had me telling my friends that I would never come back. However, just like Bubbles on 'The Wire', I'm never gone for long. You cannot find better American Chinese food in Edmond. If you do know of a better place (in Edmond), please tell me because I would love to try it. Summary: Delicious, cheap, and large portions. There's a great variety on lunch specials. And did I mention that it's delicious? Call them, show up 20 minutes later, and be out in under a minute. First time here. It was a Friday around 6:30 pm. Ordered pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, crab Rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup and they gave me an egg roll with the chicken entree. It came to about $27. It was about a 10-12 minute wait and I found the place to be clean and the portions were decent. The egg roll was soggy so I just threw it away. The sweet and sour chicken was a bit greasy, but tasted ok. The pork fried rice was tasty with ample slices of pork, but the pork, while flavorful, was sort of dry. The lo mein was fairly flavorful, but oily. The four crab Rangoon's were good with more crabmeat than what is typically found at Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants in the OKC area. We asked for crispy noodles for the soup and were given a small bag of chow mein noodles (ugh). The soup was a 3.5/5. We were disappointed that they do not have General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken or orange chicken on the menu. We selected sweet and sour chicken as a consolation. I would rank Egg Roll Express as mediocre at best. I really wanted to like it, but it was just average. I cannot recommend it. read more
