I have been eating at this establishment for more years than I can count. I used to live in the apartment complex behind it and it was a beloved staple. The owner is a no nonsense lady who runs a tight ship, but she is absolutely fabulous. One thing I can say about Egg Roll Express is that it is consistent. You are always gonna get the same food you got last time with the same great flavor. My favorite thing here are the lo mein noodles. They use a thinner noodle than most places, big chunks of meat and include veggies. A large chicken and beef lo mein and an egg roll and I am a happy camper. The other food is good as well. I haven't ever had anything here that didn't enjoy. They are CASH ONLY so keep that in mind. Another popular hole-in-the-wall Edmond spot I've heard about but never been to until today! I came here for a late lunch/early dinner. The interior is very simple and typical of a hole-in-the wall restaurant. Outdated curtains and furniture, but very nostalgic and comforting. I tried the egg roll- which was amazing. I'm not a huge egg roll person but loved this. I also ordered the combo lo mein (shrimp, chicken, and steak) - absolutely delicious! It was a bit oily for me, but tasty all the same. I got the small size option, but I couldn't finish it all! I also tried the combo fried rice and it was spectacular- not as oily as the lo mein, which I preferred. Service was prompt. The place wasn't too busy- there were 2 other people besides me and my party of 3 and another gentleman walked in to place a to-go order for FIVE egg rolls! - I guess that is telling of how great the egg rolls are at this spot. read more

I've been coming here since 2004 for the combo fried rice. I also recommend the pepper steak. The egg rolls are mediocre in my opinion. Service was also mid level. I never got a refill on my water (the food is salty!!). Ambiance is not why you come here. It's a hole in the wall that takes cash only. read more

Moved here from NYC and this is probably the best Chinese food my family has had. There was 4 of us and we all agreed. We sat down to eat, moved two tables to the booth and ordered with the waiter. The egg rolls came first and once we ate them, we immediately knew the food was gonna be amazing and it was. We all got different dishes and we were all very pleased with our food. The restaurant itself, the look, is not appealing however it is very clean and comfortable. The lights are bright and there's about enough seating for 25 people. We always ordered the beef stir fried flat noodles here, best in town. The chef knows how to cook Cantonese dishes, full of wok hei.

It's like a hit and miss so it keeps me going back when I'm in Edmond. But goodness...The older lady owner is rude, she will treat you as if she doesn't care to have you as a customer. The Crab Rangoon not really. There wasn't a lot of flavor and the cream cheese wasn't rich. I couldn't taste the crab, but I could see it. The Lo Mein was more like spaghetti noodles. I love Lo Mein for it's thicker noodles and didn't find that here. The Chow Mein was okay. The dried noodles were like La Choy noodles. Not the family running it, though a little older like myself...not the recipes...they've only gotten better as all other Chinese takeout has progressively gone downhill...and oh that Ficus tree! How do they do it!? It's grown inside and taking over the corner. It just shows they can nurture the plant as well as they feed my soul. I read about this spot on a Facebook post where someone local was seeking out the best Chinese food in the area. So the opportunity presented itself and I went for it. Initial Pros: Clean Simple Inexpensive Cons: If I didn't already know that it was cash only it may have annoyed me. But they do have an ATM inside and that helps. Not super friendly Ordering seemed easy enough. I used a yelp photo of the menu. However, when I got home I realized that we never received the garlic chicken. We got the side item that came with it. We had more than enough food so it wasn't a huge deal except my husband didn't get the dish he was really excited about. The egg roll was pretty greasy. There was no taste explosion. The crab Rangoon was mediocre. The real plus of the night was my sweet & sour chicken. It was real chicken folks. I was the winner with my order. Why three stars? Well one of my dishes wasn't with my order. Next, the egg roll was way too greasy for me. The crab Rangoon was mediocre. Really not a huge fan of the fried rice either. And lastly, when I enter and exit an establishment I make sure that I say hello and goodbye while making small talk. No one acknowledged me except to get my name and to have me come get my food. But...everyone of those stars I did give is because of the chicken I ordered. It was extremely pleasant and tasty to get hunks if real chicken breast in Chinese food.
