I went to eat by myself today and i was seated all the way in the corner were i was ignored almost the entire time. Was table touched only once. Witch was pointless cuz when i went to tell him i wanted bacon he cut me off and said "ok great" and walked off to a larger table. Wow. Half of my " matts meat lover" dish was rock hard. Interesting Menu. The food and service is consistently good. I enjoy the thermos of coffee they leave on the table. My mother in law is quite fond of the lobster scrambler. My son diggs the variety of options for the skillet. I enjoy the Bavarian Benedict and the Farmers Market Benedict. The thing I love most about Egg Harbor is that you can generally get seated almost immediately, even if you have a large party (not the case with some other breakfast spots in Wheaton that I won't name). Its also nice that they have outdoor seating. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. These days, I travel with an infant carrier and Egg Harbor has those supports for them - its a little thing, but its greatly appreciated. There is a plethora of items on the menu to choose from and we've never had a less than wonderful meal. read more

Another good, good breakfast place! We hit Egg Harbor this morning for breakfast. Although we had heard about long waits, we didn't wait at all and were seated at a table by a nice host/manager. Our server was very friendly, very accommodating, and didn't get upset at all when we changed some ingredients in my omelet. We shared a carafe of fresh OJ, which I am sorry to say was weird tasting, but ok, the pitcher of water on each table a plus we really liked. Although very busy our server came back four times to make sure we were happy. All in all a good breakfast, great service, and a nice place to have breakfast. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to pig out for breakfast. They have awesome french toast, pancakes and crepes. The portions are huge. They are really busy especially on weekends but the service is fast, friendly. The lunch menu is also really good. Great sandwiches and salads. Everything on the menu is so good it's hard to decide what to order. read more

adding this restaurant to the list of great eating spots....... the only downside for me is that they are just a little bit greedy on the portion size. but having the awesome BERRY BOUNTY PANCAKES (3 OF THEM), more then makes up for it. the berry bounty pancakes are 3 pancakes with strawberries, and blueberries, in the cakes. butter and powdered sugar are on top. with syrup. walking in the restaurant, you get the feeling like someone is a hoarder of nick knacks, because nick knacks are all over the place. when you get to the table there is a picture of water waiting for you. price wise ok. read more

I love egg harbor! It's probably our favorite breakfast spot around. They have great coffee and if you aren't wanting coffee they have tons of tea options as well. We've tried several different things but I really enjoy the skillets and my husband always ordered a different type of French toast or pancake. We haven't ordered anything we weren't happy with here. And they have the best homemade jam that is wonderful on the sourdough bread. The restaurant gets really busy on the weekends so we try to to early so we don't have to wait. read more

It was our first morning in Wheaton, so we decided to go here! Interior was so cute - all kinds of chicken decorations surround the restaurant! Service was very nice, and there was a pitcher of water on every table (which I really liked). I had strawberry orange juice which was WONDERFUL, and to make it better, I got the Swedish roll or burrito... I forget what it was called but it was like a blackberry, strawberry, and blueberry filled burrito :-) It was delicious and huge, I could not eat it all. Very nice restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat! read more

This is a damn good breakfast, period. The menu is HUGE! Skillets, french toast, pancakes, omelets, waffles, and on and on and on. I think the thing I like about Egg Harbor, both this one and the one at Yorktown in Lombard, is that you feel like it's a great morning when you're there. The waitstaff is friendly, the smells are wonderful, the coffee is bold and well, it's just a great way to start a day. There aren't a ton of dedicated breakfast places in the suburbs which automatically makes Egg Harbor stand out. They help their own cause by doing a great job, it's no surprise that they are continuing to expand. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the service was just terrible. No acknowledgment, our coffee was forgotten, and our waitress did not ask once how I was doing. The food was okay but I couldn't move past the service. Sorry not coming here again. New update: I will acknowledge that the owner reached out to me after my review and apologized for the experience, I do commend that! Love this little breakfast joint. Great food and good (healthy) portions in my opinion (my boyfriend believes they are too small).

Had lunch after the farmer's market recently and it was terrific!! They understood that preparing and delivering my toddler grandson's food right away was necessary, and then we adults had a fabulous meal. I am a huge fan of there barista bar. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have cream for their regular coffee, but they do have half and half. Otherwise I do enjoy their lunch menu! They are very convenient when ordering through the phone for an order pickup. These reviews have a pattern that dovetails with my experience: Females love this place - guys a little less. Even my wife agrees that Egg Harbor is a chick place. Speaking with the hopeless bias of a guy, here I go. Good: Upscale atmosphere in a way that's hard to pinpoint. Excellent servers. Attractive and gently sophisticated decor. Very good food. Everything is spotless. It's a place you like and respect when you walk in. Bad: Parking can be a problem. I parked illegally today and got away with it. More importantly, you don't get much food. Today I paid $11 plus tax and tip and so on for a veggie omelette about the size of a hockey puck with a small cutesy dish of chopped fruit and exactly one toasted English muffin. Very fine food, but for me it's half a normal lunch. My advice: Guys, by all means take your mom / spouse / sister / girlfriend here. But first eat a real meal or you'll be famished. read more

Because of all the other positive reviews of the Wheaton location of Egg Harbor Cafe, we (4 people) decided to go for our annual Christmas Eve brunch. To say the least, we were not thrilled. ATMOSPHERE: We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and they were quite busy, but we got our table immediately despite the waiting line which was a nice start. Now, I realize it was a busy holiday and expected it to be pretty crowded, and it was, but it had to be about the noisiest place I've ever eaten. I chalk it up to the interior which has a high metal ceiling which probably amplifies every sound, rather than a softer, acoustic-type ceiling material which would absorb sound better. Seriously, it was like a VERY noisy sports bar during a game broadcast, except that the one we go to sometimes, even when it's crowded, isn't nearly that loud. SERVICE Two of us who came in first were seated immediately. The waiter said he'd be right with us. The other two in our party who were parking the car arrived a few minutes later. Usually at a breakfast place, the wait staff promptly stop by to get coffee/drink orders, but we then waited for quite a while until our waiter made a 2nd appearance in the dining room to take our orders. Then, "the Decaf Incident" happened. My spouse ordered decaf and when the waiter came back with the coffees and started to pour hers, she asked him, just to be sure, if it was decaf. (She's ordered decaf before only to get the real thing, so she checks.) He very sarcastically said he "thought she was joking" and went out of his way to comment about it a few more times, like we besmirched his family name or something. We must have breached sacred breakfast-place protocol because he made quite a big deal of it, like he was really insulted, and he wasn't joking. We thought that rather odd. Otherwise, he did a fine job with the orders, everything was correct and he was ever-present, but that incident put us off a bit, unfortunately. FOOD This is of course entirely personal preference, but I enjoy nothing more at a breakfast place than a great, homemade corned beef hash. I make my own (spectacular!) with our annual St. Patrick's Day dinner leftovers at home, and so it's a treat for me on the occasions when we do go out for breakfast, which isn't often. They don't have corned beef hash at any of the local Egg Harbor locations which means we'd likely not repeat there, UNLESS we were really bowled over by other items, which we weren't, sadly. So in lieu of my usual, I got the Matt's Meaty Skillet, described in the menu as "loaded with bacon, ham and sausage." It was nowhere close. There was VERY little meat in my Meaty. There was easily 3 times as much potato as the combined meats. The "Harbor potatoes" are fine and all, and they were plentiful, but I didn't order (or expect) a skillet "loaded with potatoes" and then sprinkled lightly with meat. And I had to look carefully to see the jack and cheddar cheese topping as there wasn't much of that, either. Everyone else's egg-based dishes - an omelette, a Rösti, and a different skillet - were all very ordinary according to the others in our party. Worse, our food was just warm, English muffins included, like perhaps it had sat for a bit before being picked up. Nothing makes a so-so dish more unappealing than when it's simply not hot. That's something very basic any restaurant should get right, IMO. Their coffee was good, so there's that. Oh, and as all the breakfast dishes are served with their English muffins, I expected them to be very special, like it's "their thing." But they're just average store-bought English muffins. SUMMARY So, as a clever reader would have already guessed, we weren't that happy with our trip to the Cafe. The day wasn't ruined or anything because of it, but it wasn't the nice experience out together that we look forward to for our Christmas brunch. Afterwards, I recalled that I'd been to their Geneva location several years ago but we had never returned because I don't think it wasn't all that great, either. We'd probably not return to any of their locations but we'll try somewhere new next time we dine out for breakfast. read more

I've been here a few times and it always seems to be a pretty popular place. The food is very good and the service is friendly. I typically get their skillets here and I've never been disappointed. I love breakfast out, it is my favorite "treat". After one time of eating at this establishment, this will not be a place I regularly visit. The omelette I ordered was runny, and there were egg shells in it. My son's food came out after mine had been on the table for over 5 minutes. What kind of parent wants to have their food delivered before their 6 year old's???? Bad service, bad food, but great atmosphere, and decent coffee. read more

Egg Harbor is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurants! Im hooked on the Aztec Omelette.

This restaurant is not worth going to. They were having a busy morning and so we waited a long time for our order. When the food finally arrived the over easy eggs were sitting in water and not fully cooked. The toast was mushy and the hash browns were cold. The pumpkin pancakes they were pushing on their new fall menu menu were dry and lukewarm. Trying to get the server's attention was difficult and we were short on water and silverware. Avoid the frustration and go somewhere else. read more
