To begin the food was decent, and the restaurant was clean. The sausage pasta was on point and quite delicious. The shaved beef was tough. Note: The service was something that left being desired. We ordered 3 mains: Sausage Pasta, Roasted Chicken, and shaved beef. Two sides of a simple green salad and pasta salad. In addition to rolls. They were going to serve this with water and coffee. To sit 40 people for two hours cost $1700. This was far too much food for 40 people. Though the single scoop of ice cream for a plate cleanser was appreciated. We asked for coffee as it wasn't ready at the time that people were arriving and it was provided. We asked for soda for some variety and they said that they could do so for an additional $2/head. We did so. Bad: When the meal was done we had over half of it left. When we went to see about taking the food with us they had thrown it away. The company said that it was a law that caterers couldn't give out the food. My aunt who ran a similar business in the state of Illinois said she would sign a waiver. The manager said it is against the FDA laws and refused to even just simply state it was the restaurants policy. When my aunt pushed on losing the second half of the food that was paid for they merely gave her three buffet tickets. For the lost of several hundred dollars of food they offset it by three $17.95 tickets. If you are socially conscious about food waste as our family is, only order two trays and a side for 40 people. It is better to leave hungry than to feel the food is simply thrown away. Ways to Improve: Being told this upfront at the time of hosting is important. It will make sure the right amount of food is ordered and dozens of people are not left wondering what happened with the leftovers. The place was clean and so I applaud that. read more

I was here for Easter Brunch. I thought it was just average. Nothing to write home about. The service was better than the food. The mashed potatoes were lumpy. I had to put a lot of gravy on them to make them edible. We were at table 21 which was right by the bar. Not good. Held a charity dinner here in 2018 it was horrible. First they only had 1 server for 100 people. We did heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. There was no one to remove dirty plates and my guest started piling them on the floor. Before the event even started we had to request that they replace burnt out light bulbs, then clean the fixtures as they were filthy. We checked the bar and it was disgusting. We had to request someone clean it and we had to stand there to make sure they did. The table clothes were stained and the carpet was filthy. We will never host any events at this location nor recommend them to anyone. Just look at how their sign looks, burnt out bulbs and over grown with trees. There is no one taking care of this venue. read more

For a business that has been around for many years you would think on a day like Easter it would be a lot more organized. They had one person checking you in then you stood in another line to pay with only one person doing that and then you guessed it another line to be seated. I understand it was a busy time of day but you should be more prepared for the crowd or come up with another way to check in and pay. The food was sub-par. They were running out of plates and cups most of the time we were there. The dessert looked horrible and the brunch tables where the drinks and dessert were on were a mess. Some of the food we had was pretty good and I will say as the food was running out they were trying to replenish as best they could. I really liked the omelette bar, bacon and carving station. The service folks who took away the plates were great and quickly taking our plates. Need to be more organized for these events, have better quality food. I would not come back. read more

Ugh. This place is neither attractive or good. The staff was...alright. We went here for the Thanksgiving buffet. It was about $25 each. But it was worse than the $5 buffets in Vegas. Alcohol was not included. Worst Bloody Mary ever! They didn't have any seasonings, so it was straight crappy vodka and crappy tomato juice. Nothing at the buffet was even slightly good. We have attended well over fifty wedding banquets in our lifetime. This was the best for several reasons. It was well organized and ran smoothly. Hot dourves and dinner was plentiful and hot with great servers. Clean with ample parking for handicapped. Staff very accommodating and on top of things. Very good chef. read more

The magician at brunch adds live entertainment, something that we need more of instead of video games people give to there kids to keep them entertained. Although The Lincoln Inn is a party/banquet reception hall, on Sunday's they open up and utilize the facility as a brunch. We met up with some friends to see if it was worth anything (11/23/08). The brunch is $9.95 per adult and $6.95 per kid. They have a custom omelet station which actually was the best part. The rest of the food was your regular brunch type stuff: Eggs Benedict, Sausage, Bacon, Biscuits & Gravy, Blintzes, Scrambled Eggs, French Toast and Waffles. Nothing about it was horribly bad, but it's not the most popular place and therefore the food tends to sit in the sterno trays a bit too long (there's just not enough turnover) and so that means that the English muffins under the Benedicts are hard, the french toast sticks are not really fresh, etc. It wasn't our last meals and frankly for the price, it wasn't that bad. You do get juice/coffee/tea included and there's some waitress service for that. Be forewarned though, we were lucky enough to avoid the strolling magician who was doing close-up card tricks. The Lincoln Inn went above and beyond to make my wedding perfect. This was June 2011 (I know, I'm late at making my reviews!) They assisted me with picking out my decor (which they also set up for me), were reasonable about pricing, always available for a phone call from a worried bride On the day of everyone was excellent and attentive. The owner himself, Chris, I believe, was there walking around doing quality control. The room looked beautiful - I had all the space I could possibly need. We had a dance floor, 15 tables (over 200 guests), a desert bar, and a photo booth, and everyone had PLENTY of room. The filet mignon and chicken combo was seriously DELICIOUS, everyone was raving about it. I had several compliments on the coffee too! We got the desert bar which was a hit. I truly could not recommend or thank this venue more. read more

We just had Easter brunch at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia and I was underwhelmed. We had a reservation for 18 people but stood in a long line for 15minutes to get a ticket. Then we were seated at a very long table that prevented us from chatting with each other. One carafe of coffee for 18 people? And no water pitchers left on the table. The food was adequate but not great. The desserts were store bought! I wouldn't serve them at my own house! It seemed like there were not enough servers for the number of people there. I came here recently for an event hosted by a friend, and I was pretty impressed with this venue--though again--I was a guest and had nothing to do with the organizing or planning of the event; and so, although I'm not sure what it took to make this event a success, it was certainly that and I had the benefit of reaping the rewards of everyone else's work. The venue itself was very nice and seemed to be maintained well, if it hasn't been updated recently, was easy to spot and get into, and had ample parking. The front room was large, inviting, and well lit, with a few comfortable looking couches placed here and there, and the bathrooms were clean and well-kept. I'm not sure how many rooms there or, but the one I was in had comfortable seating for 120 people with plenty of room to make your way around from table to table, and a spacious dance floor. The service was very good, with friendly people walking around with various--if not safe and common--appetizers, and two bars to sate your thirst, though many noted the rather chilly and unfriendly vibe both of the bartenders gave off. The only hiccup that night was actually an issue with the bar; the arrangements had been for an open-bar, but for nearly an hour they had been charging people, and it had taken the hostess nearly thirty minutes to have the situation straightened out; apart from that, everything else seemed to have gone over as planned. The dinner served was pretty basic, but was very good: chicken, steak (medium) broccoli, and mashed potatoes; everything was flavorful and cooked well--no dried out chicken here. Two wines were kept in stock on each table during the dinner, a nice--though on the sweeter side--moscato, and a very nice, fairly mild merlot. The service during the dinner was also very nice, with servers checking on you and keeping your non-alcoholic drinks, bread, and table wine stocked. Although I cannot give you any details about the amount of money, time, or hassle, that was put into it, my friend seemed to be very pleased with the results at the end of the night (it started at five and ended at midnight), and so did everyone else. From the point of view of a guest, I would say that I was impressed with job that was done here and had a wonderful time. So if you're looking for a venue to host a nice event, I would absolutely suggest that you at least check this place out. If you're a guest, dress nicely please, and don't be chintzy with the gift, the hosts weren't chintzy with the event. read more

Attended a friends wedding reception recently and what a wonderful experience it was. I usually don't write reviews but the experience here was so good that I just had to let others know. First and foremost, the location is in the beautiful and historic town of Batavia. The parking is ample and easily accessible to everyone. Walking in you quickly realize that this place was recently renovated. Everything is clean and meticulous. The personnel were friendly and courteous right from the start to the very end. The food was amazing! Everyone complimented the steaks, perfectly cooked at a medium temp. The trimmings, salads, soups, all were delicious and presented in a timely fashion. The General Manager Chris kept walking around asking everyone if everything was great and if they needed anything else. My son asked for a coke and Chris quickly walked over to the closed bar area and got him his coke. Very impressive! I have already recommended this place to all my good friends, coworkers, and pretty much anyone asking of a good place to have an event. I was invited to an event at this venue. I didn't do anything as far as planning or any of that, I was simply a guest. I thought the event itself was great, but the banquet hall was a little tacky looking for my taste. Low ceilings, weird tentacle carpet, and the bar definitely missed out on the renovations. We held our annual fundraising dinner here this year and have nothing but good things to say about Lincoln Inn. The owner was quick in responding to any questions prior to the event and was always nearby during set-up and for the actual event making sure all of our needs were met. The food was amazing. The staff was equally fabulous. I forgot to bring our table number holders so I just had them leaning up against the salt. One of the waitresses noticed this during set-up and asked if we'd like to borrow some table number holders that they had. Proactive, friendly, accommodating, professional ... Buffet included: soft drink (had to get yourself at bar), breakfast: eggs, French toast etc. Carving station had turkey & ham. Average sides corn, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, mac & cheese. Salad bar, peel & eat shrimp, dessert bar had pumpkin & lemon meringue pie, carrot cake & small dry pastries. Food reminded me of a school cafeteria. Wish we would of saved our +$90 & ate at Boston Market. Staff was EXCEPTIONAL which made our dinner tolerable. read more

We recently renewed our vows and had our 25th Anniversary party at the Lincoln Inn. The food was awesome, the venue was great, and the management and staff was marvelous! Since it was 25 years since we planned a wedding we really didn't know where to start. Chris and Marcy were very helpful suggesting many details: table layout, color scheme, timing when to serve the food, etc. Chris even recommended a great photographer, and DJ. Many of our guests commented on how elegant and classy the room and tables appeared, and how much they enjoyed the appetizers and dinner. I would definitely recommend the Lincoln Inn for anyone looking to have their special day care free. They also have a great Sunday brunch. My dad, husband and I decided to go here for the Thanksgiving buffet, because my mom just passed away and we needed to do something different this year. We had heard of this because my husband and I got married at the Gaslite in 2008. We really loved this buffet, and went away soooooo full! I loved how they had the traditional foods like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos, gravy, corn and rolls. What was even greater was I was also able to enjoy breakfast favorites, like eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and so on. Our guests absolutely raved about the chicken/filet mignon duet dinner, and many of them told us it was the best food they'd ever eaten at a reception. The service was perfection itself. The room was just beautiful and perfectly arranged. The oversight of staff was attentive and helpful. Dinner was served quickly and efficiently. The bartenders were delightful. They worked seamlessly with our photographer/videographer/DJ company, and after our meetings to make the arrangements (during which we were treated like royalty) everything was perfectly in place as expected. Went to the Thanksgiving Day Brunch/Buffet this year. We usually get together with family, but this year needed something different. We were not disappointed. They had all the Thanksgiving Day favorites, including Turkey (of course), ham, prime rib, many breakfast items, full salad bar, meats and cheeses, salmon, shrimp and a full dessert bar, including the required pumpkin pie. Everything was hot, well prepared and tasted just like a home cooked Thanksgiving Day dinner. We will certainly consider eating at the Lincoln Inn again next year for our Thanksgiving!! We just had a small wedding reception there this past Sunday. The food was good and plenty for everyone, they kept making sure nothing was empty for the buffet. I cant say enough good things about Marci who made the afternoon extra special for my son and daughter in law. You couldn't ask for better service . Plates were always being removed and tables cleaned up promptly. They made this celebration very easy for us with no stress. Held an event here March 2018. Problems started with the booking when there was a change in staff. The new person in charge had no previous experience in event planning. The day of the event we arrived to set up and over 40% of the light bulbs were burnt out. We had to request they fix this before our guests arrive. The table linens were stained. The bar area was filthy. We found a dirty fork under one of the tables so I am guessing they didn't vacuum. We requested tables for silent auction items and after hours of waiting we moved our own table. Under the table, on the floor was a tub of dishes. They were planning on using these dishes for our coffee set up, we found ants in them and made sure they didn't use them for our guests. This might have been a beautiful venue at one time but there is no up keep being done. Make sure if you are viewing it that all the lights are one. They depend on it being dark so you won't notice how warn out everything is. Even the couches in the foyer are old and torn. Will not recommend this place or ever book here again. read more

My husband and I just had our wedding reception there Memorial Day weekend. Since I lived out of town, Chris helped me step by step over the phone planning all the details. When we walked into the room, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was so beautiful! All the centerpieces, tables, chairs, all had the perfect matching colors. The food was delicious, and everyone talked about it all night. I wish we could have eaten more! The staff was so helpful and friendly, they even had a bridal suite to lock my bags in for the reception. I never anticipated the worry free reception that I had. Be aware of price switching at last minute. Our high school had planned a 'dance' after a banquet and on the night before the event doubled the cost from $450 to $1000. No food or drink - simply a dance floor and tables. Very hot and stuffy air too. They did some nice remodeling - however customer service does not exist. First off, Ive been prompted by many wedding guests to write a review. Please dont let the opulent lobby of Lincoln Inn fool you. It is very pretty wrapping paper wrapped around an empty box. Our daughters wedding was recently there. Our instincts from the beginning were not to have her reception there, however she was a young bride and very trusting. The owner and manager (they have gone thru 3 managers since the planning stage had begun), promised her the world...and delivered nothing. Against our better judgement, we kept our mouths shut and just wrote the check...The check for the best/highest price package they had. Where do I start, without sounding angry, because I don't want to be angry, I'm just so dissappointed and humiliated by the amount of money we spent and how we were just basically thrown away once the check was cashed. The night before the reception we went to set up centerpieces. They had set up the room wrong. My daughter and the owner had made solid floor plans. When I pointed it out to the manager, the woman who was helping her looked at her and called me a whore in spanish, not knowing everyone in the family understood the language. I swolled it, didn't say a word. That was just the beginning. At the reception, as we walked in, the champagne fountain was not working. The champagne was squirting out of the seams in the middle. Two staff unplugged it, and tryed to fix it (should have been tested earlier by them I guess), Only 2 of 4 spouts ended up working, oh well. As I was walking to our table, a wedding guest walked up to me and said he had just had to tell the staff that the top of our daughters wedding cake was melting and the cake topper had fallen over, he said staff saw it, and just walked past, that was why he asked them to fix it. It would not have started to melt, had there been curtains put up on the huge dirty exit doors, that we had been promised for 9 months that the curtains would indeed be on. that was the beginning of the evening. The unexperienced manager and uncaring owner set up the bridal table half way behind a wall. The guests saw 5 groomsmen and nothing else, because the rest of the bridal party was hid behind a wall. I would have mentioned it, but Lord knows what other name I would have been called. One guest of ours has Siliac and cannot eat anything with Glutten. We had asked if she could get a meal just like everyone else's except no brown gravy put on it (brown gravy is thickened with flour). Not only did she not recieve this minor request, but she was served a completely different (Glutten) meal that was supposed to be served to another party in another room. The dinner was wheeled out in a large hot box by a very sweaty dirty cook that parted the large hot box in the middle of the dance floor and dinner was brought out that way, not by the wait staff of trays, like any other banquet hall would do. Again...I kept the smile on my face and my mouth shut. I sat at my table and one of our guests leaned over and said, DON'T EAT YOUR MEAL, LIFT YOUR CHICKEN...burnt to black on bottom. I didn't say a word. Later on in the evening, a server whispered in my ear "We've lost the top of your daughters wedding cake and cake topper, can you see if someone shoved them under a table". Okay.....Now I'm getting angry. I went outside to have a smoke and calm down. The owner came out and mentioned to me that the dinner for another party going on was already 30 minutes late. By the way, there were 3 banquets that night and guests were all going into the wrong rooms because there was nothing, not even a chalk board in the lobby to direct guests to the correct room. However, towards the end of the evening the staff took it upon themselves to write the 3 parties in magic marker on a piece of paper and scotch tape them in the lobby to direct guests. We are not rich people...but we gave everything we had to make our daughters reception a good thing for her. We wrote the check to Lincoln Inn because the owner charmed her, duped her, let her believe all his empty promises. One wedding guest who has been a successful resturant owner in Batavia had to be stopped twice BY ME from going into the owners office and screaming about the problems. To close my review out, at the end of the evening, our photographer was asked by the owner to go back in and take photos for Lincoln Inn's publicity. To his credit, the photographer said no. Our daughters wedding was perfect, every single professional that we hired worked so perfectly at the top of there game...until the reception. Please Please believe me when I say...I was just going to let this go, but don't be fooled by the pretty wrapping paper of the lobby....The very last insult came at the end of the evening when we were told to hurry up and wrap it up because they wanted to set up for brunch the next day and go home.
