My Chef Catering catered the food for my brother's wedding. My Chef Catering delivered a great experience. To start during the cocktail hour there were sandwiches with house-made potato chips available at a self-service station. In addition servers walked around with spinach and brie wontons with garlic pesto sauce and chicken and waffles. The appetizers were a great start to the evening. The dinners included a salad and entree. The salads tasted fresh. For the entree, I got the braised beef brisket. The potatoes and green beans were excellent while the beef was overcooked and not very tender or juicy. Some barbecue sauce would have helped a lot. The late night snack was the tomato bisque and grilled cheese shooter. This was delicious, but I was too full at that point to have more than one. The servers were incredibly nice and very hard to say not to. Overall, My Chef Catering was one of the better wedding caterers that I've tried. I recommend My Chef Catering for your next wedding or event!

Found Mychef through our venue, but was pulled in by their killer Instagram posts, extremely transparent posts that I was able to review to help me pick them. Had our tasting yesterday and truly cannot recommend this company more, Jamie and Natalie were the ones we were working with and they were amazing, answered questions we had before we even thought to ask them, went above and beyond showing us exactly how the placements will look, the food was amazing and 10/10 professionalism way better than the other tastings we've been too. Go with my chef best bang for your buck

We used MyChef Catering for our wedding at The Haight back in February 2022. Chloe was our Event Executive and she was super easy to work with leading up to the wedding and the day of! We chose to do two passed hor' dourves and a grazing table for cocktail hour. Both were a hit among our guests but their artichoke beignets are a must try...YUM! We received so many compliments on the plated dinners served during our reception. Their Bistro Steak got a lot of love but I thought the Chicken Francaise was perfect. The If I could go back, I would've made sure I spent more time at the dessert table because I heard everything was delicious, particularly the cheesecakes.

My Chef Catering was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They were so easy to work with and were there to answer every question we had. Chloe was our event coordinator and she made everything from the tasting, to seating charts, and allergy accommodations simple and stress free. This company is a well oiled machine and got our food out quickly with great attention to detail! I had multiple guests come up to us saying how delicious the food was! One of our guests even said it was some of the BEST food she has ever had at a wedding! We couldn't be happier with everything this company has done for our wedding, five stars don't seem to be enough!! We HIGHLY recommend My Chef to anyone in the market for catering!! Thank you My Chef!!!

Any future customers to this place beware. Me and my now wife had our wedding ceremony on 10/29/2023 and this is the caterer that the venue worked with. Me, my wife, and my mother went to a tasting a few months prior and asked Susan Jacob's (who's position at this place is "event executive") told us we would be able to take home ALL our leftovers. Come the ceremony day towards the end we only see desserts to take home. So we ask the mychef staff that we're still there where are all the other leftovers? We were told they got thrown away. Brisket, ribs, Mac and cheese, tacos thrown away like it's nothing. We also paid for 60 people and about 17 people of that total weren't able to make it. So we emailed Kristen who is the venue cordinator and she passed our concerns to sue. Sue emailed back (I will post the whole email conversation below) essentially saying It has to be thrown away because it was at unsafe temperatures and stated it was a misunderstanding (it definitely wasn't we know what we heard). Well that may be true that's the equivalent of going out to a restaurant and being denied your leftovers. I have an associates degree in culinary arts and have worked for restaurants since I graduated in 2013 and my now wife is in the same field. We also catered, been catered too, before, during, and after COVID and we haven't been denied nor have we denied our guests there leftovers because they PAID FOR IT. She offered us a 300 dollar thanksgiving dinner which is a joke considering the money we paid for all the food that they just tossed. So we stop talking to sue because she doesn't know what she's talking about and in the emails she argues that restaurants are different because people are going home immediately and refrigerating them because Sue knows that everybody goes straight home after they go out to eat. Guess I should ask her the winning lottery numbers too. That was a completely ignorant and false response on her end. We email Kristen again and ask to get in contact with one of the owners at mychef. It's beyond ridiculous that we had to go to one of the owners for a resolution. The owner we spoke to whose name is Mark told us it is recommendation of the health department that they don't let guests take the food home so if a guest gets sick they can't be responsible. Notice how he said recommendation not law. Absolutely no reason that we couldn't take our food home THAT WE PAID FOR! Not to mention we never signed any contract with mychef directly. Mark gave us a Christmas dinner for 8 of all the food we had at the wedding. Everything was good but the brisket we got was NOT the same from the wedding so that got messed up. Something I noticed too was when I went to pick it up they had envelopes with reheating instructions with names of people that were picking up orders on it. One of the employees looked through them and my wife's name wasnt on any of the envelopes( her name was on the order form). So because we called and complained about our food that we PAID for that's rightfully ours that was just thrown away and giving us the wrong brisket that's your way of excluding us? Real mature mychef. We received some kind of reheating instructions but it wasn't even for the food we ordered. The dinner for 8 is better than nothing but still doesn't fully make up for the food we lost. Something else id like to note about Sue. You have to constantly email her to get a response then when she does email back it's excuses why she couldn't respond. Lots of that throughout the year up until the wedding. Sue you are a snake and a liar and should be ashamed of yourself. You are a perfect example of someone who shouldn't work in customer service.

My Chef did our wedding on July 5th, 2012. I cannot tell you how many of our guests raved and raved about the food! Sue worked with us on our wedding and was very patient with us. First of all, we didn't want a "wedding wedding" - we wanted to do a rustic/green/very chill wedding - so we had a chef grilling some of the food onsite, and we had a delicious buffet set up. Sue helped us to decide on our rentals (our venue didn't provide anything other than the chairs and tables) and made sure we had everything we needed for the big party. She definitely helped us with the logistics of the day without making us feel stupid (that's always a plus). The food tasting was fantastic! We tried some many different things that were delicious that we had a hard time deciding what to keep. Everything was to die for! The best thing was that the minute we didn't like something (we weren't sure about the cuban pork and the rub on the chix) the chef was like "give me 15 minutes" and came back in 10 with 4 more choices that he just whipped out on the spot. And they were awesome!!! Sue also came out to see our venue not once, but twice before the wedding. It was really nice to see her just a couple of days before the wedding and to be able to discuss where everything would go and how things would work. And it paid off, because on the day of the wedding everything went really smooth (and if it didn't - I never knew about it, which is fine by me). My Chef handled the buffet situation very well - they would let people know when their table could go and get food and kept people from just standing in line and being annoyed. And the food just disappeared. Everyone kept getting up to get more food (but in the end we still had a lot of food left). Oh, did I mention that the cost of this was great? Although I don't have a lot of catering experiences to compare to, I was expecting the catering to be much more expensive, considering that we also had to rent all the glasses/water pitchers/and everything else. I look forward to working with My Chef Catering on any of my future parties.

The meatballs were delicious, the sauce actually was very good and I don't even like mushrooms at all. The second item I got was the meat filled dumplings, and those were really good. They were actually a lot better than I thought they would be. The third item I tried was the smoked Polish sausage. I will be honest, this was not my favorite. It was not bad, but the flavor on it I did not like as much as other Polish places I've tried. I definitely want to go back and try their cabbage and noodles and pigs in a blanket. They also have desserts that I will have to try as well. They do sell sandwiches, Chicago style hotdogs, and have a small grocery store inside.

However, this place is kind of tucked away so it wasn't busy at all in the afternoon. The outside of the building just says Deli. If you like Polish food, you'll love it here. I read some people exaggerating about the wait times. It does not take long for them to help you. Like Jewel or Mariano's, they're not going to slice your meat in 10 seconds if that's what you're hoping for. Btw the staff was nice. I think the Karen's that complain about them being rude are not very cultured and only know American culture. I ordered the signature pastrami sandwich for $10.99 and it was a very generous portion size. She put a ton of meat in it. The pastrami wasn't tough, it was fresh and soft. Honestly, I had Katz's in NY and this was a really great pastrami sandwich. I also got a large cannoli and meat pierogis. The cannoli was delicious. The pierogis were good but I like to have softer skin. The meat filling was fine but the outside was a bit too tough. I've been to a number of Polish restaurants and they usually make the skins very soft to cut. I would rate these pierogis like a 4. Overall, it's about a 4.5. Prices were very cheap. I got everything for $20. I will definitely return to try more items.

Catering Made Simple was, without question, the most stressful, unprofessional, and disappointing vendor of my entire wedding. What makes it worse is that the owner chose coercion over accountability -- attempting to pressure me into deleting my review before even agreeing to speak with me. That alone should tell you how they handle their mistakes. I posted multiple public notices tagging them and gave them a deadline -- Friday, September 26 at 12:00 PM -- to reach out and make things right. Despite several attempts, they ignored every one. Planning Failures: Our contract clearly stated a plated dinner, and I provided a detailed color-coded diagram with guest names, allergies, and meal choices weeks in advance. Despite this, staff insisted it was a buffet while we were lined up for our ceremony. I had to walk into the reception in my gown minutes before walking down the aisle to correct them. Because of their confusion and refusal to listen, our ceremony was delayed -- critical time lost as we were already working around rain. Execution Failures: We paid for full cake service, but utensils were missing, and flimsy tools from a décor box labeled "Do not use" were handed to us. Our cake, made by a close friend, was ruined when staff shoved a fragile custom topper -- still in its frame -- into the cake, splitting the top tier. One staff member even called it "cheap." They also failed to provide the highboy table we paid for and placed our cake awkwardly in the back of the dessert table. Guest Service Failures: Staff hovered over tables and repeatedly asked guests if they were finished. My own half-eaten meal was cleared while I was in the restroom, leaving me hungry at my own wedding. When I asked for water, I was escorted to the bar instead of being served. Professionalism & Accountability: My coordinator was harassed to the point of tears, and staff even threatened to pull me aside during the reception to complain about her. The owner, Greg, was present all night, saw me address problems directly, and never once spoke to me or apologized. Instead, he posted defensive public comments and tried to coerce me into removing my review. The only positive: the food was warm, tasty, and as expected from the tasting -- but that's where the good ends. The impact on our wedding was significant: * Our ceremony was delayed. * My coordinator was harassed. * Our cake -- lovingly made by a friend -- was ruined. * Guests felt uncomfortable. * I was left hungry. * The owner refused to take responsibility. To top it all off, I have since been blocked from a major Chicago wedding vendor group -- likely due to a complaint from Catering Made Simple -- instead of them engaging in constructive dialogue. Catering Made Simple failed in planning, execution, professionalism, and accountability. They caused unnecessary stress and ruined key moments of a once-in-a-lifetime day -- and then tried to silence me. Brides and grooms: do not risk your wedding on this company.
