Comforting American fare for this diner spot. Visited during the weekday around brunchtime and had ample options for selection. Sadly the sausage gravy is kinda bland, and with only salt, pepper, and tabasco, there is not much room for remedying this at the table. Hi! I was welcomed when I came in. My server Trish was a delight. I got the chicken fajita skillet not realizing it comes with the frozen pack meat pre seasoned. It felt like fake meat but I asked my server about it and she let me know to ask for real chicken breast next time and I will definitely do that! Pancakes were great and I had them with the sugar free syrup which was surprisingly not bad at all. I'd definitely be back! We went here the other day after hearing the pancakes were really good. When we arrived, the waitress was very polite and funny, and both of our meals were excellent -- especially the pancakes. However, when we went to pay, we saw a sign stating there's a 4% fee added to all credit and debit card transactions. We weren't told about this ahead of time, and we rarely carry cash since we don't have time to stop at an ATM. I also don't like carrying cash -- if I ever lost my wallet, that money would be gone for good. Credit and debit fees are part of the cost of doing business -- they're what allow merchants to accept cards securely and protect them from fraud. It doesn't seem fair to pass that cost onto customers. Plus, debit card fees are much lower than credit card fees, so charging 4% across the board feels excessive. I also know people who deduct this type of fee from the tip, which ends up hurting the waitstaff (I don't do that myself, but it happens). Unfortunately, because of this policy, we probably won't be coming back. I own a business myself and would never charge my customers these fees -- it's just part of running a business. Bottom line: great food, great service, but disappointing business practice. read more

Great Restaurant... Have been here many times for lunch even though I don't live anywhere near there. I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The soup was lentil bean . The country fried steak was hot and crispy and had the breakfast sausage gravy on top. Mashed potatoes were creamy and I had brown gravy on top. The soup was very tasty. Waitress was very friendly and prompt. The atmosphere of the restaurant Is your typical Greek owned restaurant... very busy and a lot of people eat and socialize there! I appreciate the family atmosphere and the friendly service. They are practically an Aurora institution on Lake Street.

At first the service was good and food ok. The ghetto waitresses started to gossip even while given good tips and kindness. eventually they act like a vindictive family with nothing better to do then act rude and stare interrupting eating. The food became horrible and soggy and poorly made. Some waitresses gossiped about the people they work with. I just found it unpleasant and small-time without rules for a proper business. i heard some foul words spoken loudly by a waitress. Definitely not good dining experiences. I went here to be part of the Seniors breakfast for Batavia and Geneva. The restaurant set aside a place for us in the restaurant. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. She took our orders and left us alone to talk. I have discovered there is a method to the madness of schedule this monthly breakfast for two hours. The restaurant was hosting two large groups at almost the same time so cooking and preparation time was slowed down. The diversity of foods ordered by both groups slowed the process way down. The group I was part of ordered from breakfast to dinner food. As we waited the server plied us with coffee and water and remained pleasant. The eggbeater Omlet With Ham and cheese was excellent. The next time I will replace the hash browns with fruit. Almost way too much for one person.. If you are looking for the old fashioned American restaurant you might want to eat here. read more

Our server was great. Everything else?? Meh..... buss boys walking around in circles, never helped our server, never stopped at our table, never cleared our plates. When our server asked one of the hostesses for assistance, she lumbered slowly towards her, rolling her eyes as if she was totally put out. Actually there were two hostesses in front that stood around doing absolutely nada..NADA! Oxymoron is that they have a sign in the vestibule that states they are "short staffed". Truthfully, I would describe it as "poorly staffed." And who (?) serves hot tea in styrofoam cups?? Ridiculous. Absolutely do not recommend. Bathrooms were filthy. Doors locks installed improperly and you can't even lock the door on the women's bathroom. Those two "hostesses" need to get to work... have pride in their jobs, or be replaced. I've been coming here for years but food quality and consistency have dropped drastically in the last several years. The waitress has to tell the cook when I send back raw bacon to use his bacon press. Toast comes out still cold and no toast marks. the toast comes back perfect but bacon is crispy yet cold? perhaps precooked for rushes or who knows. Ive been coming here several times a week but that has been changing. used to be best breakfast in town and they still have the best pancakes and biggest omelets but they aren't even consistent on those. the cheese is never right in my omelet it's either all at one end or they put nasty American cheese instead of the cheddar I always request read more

Visited sis and family in Aurora. They brought me here for a late breakfast. It was ok. There wasn't anything to like and dislike about this restaurant. I thought the menu could've had more options besides carb and egg based food. Nothing really caught my attention so I ended up with blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Brother in law got the meat lover skillet: hashbrowns with bacon, ham and sausage topped with eggs and a side of pancakes. Sis got bacon and sausage skillet topped with scrambled eggs with cheese with a piece of garlic toast. Nephew got the same as me. Overall an ok experience. The food was descent but wasn't blown away by it. Thought the bacon could've been a bit crispier. Sis and husband enjoyed their skillets but sis didn't like the toast. Said the garlic tasted burnt. The decor was dated and the parking lot desperately needs to be repaved. I wouldn't go out my way to come back but if you're in a pinch for food then it'll do. read more

You have to give credit to a place that stands up to the test of time. What better attribute can you give to a "Traditional American" restaurant other than consistency? The décor here is vintage...as in "real" or "authentic"! It's not old nor dirty, try "Classic". This is one of the few places that actually can deliver buttery moist scrambled eggs with perfectly cooked potato's. All breakfast items are consistently tasty. The only word I can describe this place is blah. I came here with a group of people for brunch. I honestly don't know why they chose this place. The menu was unimpressive, I ordered some pancakes, with a side of scrambled eggs. Both of them were barely warm. The coffee I had was lacking in flavor, and gave me heartburn all day. I think if this place was upgraded, and had better food, it would be a nice place to eat. For starters, they could fix up the beat-up parking lot, and spruce up the main entrance, it looks very shabby. I will say that the server we had was very efficient, and friendly. Stopped here for lunch before going to an interview. Nice little place to catch lunch. Had the meatloaf special and it was pretty good. Got meatloaf,mashed potatoes, green beans, soup and breadsticks for $8.50. it was a lot of food for the price. The server was really nice and let me camp out while I was doing some last minute prep for my meeting. I've been here at least a dozen times and have never had poor service or blah food. It's a diner with diner food. We decided to make one more trek out prior to the birth of our son and on Saturday (12/01/2007), we just ran out for a quick stop at Nikarry's. Service was FANTASTIC and the food was very good as well. MK had a cheeseburger and I had a grilled chicken with cheese sandwich. Very attentive waitress, for a cold night out. One word: Unbelievable. Stopped in today for a light lunch and these portions were HUGE! So much value for the $. I had the Liver & Onions and my mom had a Julienne Salad. We both had to go boxes b/c we couldn't finish. If that's not enough, the flavor on the liver was phenomenal. Everything was fresh, and lots of flavor.
