We have been here so many times that it is kind of pointless for me to write a review, but I hope that my photos help someone. I got the same strawberry pineapple bowl that I always get (not much in the way of vegan food here), and my husband got his same Western omelette, hashbrowns and English muffin. For Christmas, on December 23 and 24, for those who are inclined to cook for the families (not me no way!) and come here instead of going to the grocery store, for $69 you can get frozen food to feed 6. This place is charming and an institution in the area. The menu and decor isn't the most modern, but there's a cozy charm and nostalgia coming in here. Service is friendly, though our server today was a bit inexperienced and didn't quite understand timing for when to check in - she stopped by twice within a two minute period just after we sat down to get our orders, with very little time between visits to let us even look at the menu. I ordered the German pancake which was massive and took 30 minutes (well warned in advance on the menu and by my waitress!). It was a neat novelty, but I didn't love the way the lemon, powdered sugar and butter interacted. My husband ordered the chorizo omelette with a side of pancakes and he was pleased. read more

Breakfast/lunch restaurant gives off old time diner vibes. Place is immaculate. Good service. Server kept my coffee cup full...no easy task since I drink it as fast as they can pour it. Speaking of the coffee, it was delish--and piping hot. I had the Dutch Baby. It was so yummy! Served with lemon, butter, and powdered sugar on the side, so you can customize to your liking. Hubby had a cheese and tomato omelette with a side of fruit, and thick toast. He said the omelette was excellent. A little pricey, but isn't everything nowadays? $50 including tip. First, the restaurant smelled bad, like old and rancid, second the eating utensils and plastic cups were gross/filmy---should be replaced. The food was below average. I ordered the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. The sausage was 30% smaller than the bun and 90% thinner than the egg, the cheese was processed. Gross! read more

We always love Pancake Cafe! The food is always delicious and served warm. The service is usually great (although there have been exceptions). The decor and environment is inviting and conversational. It is one of the few restaurants you can choose to meet a friend and actually hear each other, and catch up on each other's life. I think this was the first breakfast restaurant I had walked into and there wasn't a wait where I felt like a sardine in a can. There was no wait, we were seated immediately amongst the decor that was breakfast themed and very comfortable which was made so with the coffee refills coming as fast as I could sip it down. I always appreciate my coffee being refilled without me having to ask. The server was new and did and absolute solid job. If I were to ever open a restaurant or bar, I would have to hire her. She was very attentive and took notice of things I didn't have to ask for. The menu was full of many options including healthy choices. There is a creative drink menu including Mimosas with a few different options for bottomless. The food was brought out quickly and was as good as it looks in the pics. There is always a need for a breakfast place that doesn't have a wait and maybe it was because of the time we went which was late morning but not having to wait will definitely help to bring me back, as will the service. read more

I saw the parking lot was packed, so I expected good things. Young man that was a host was not only dressed nice, he held open doors for guests. Very nice. Menu had a decent selection. Unfortunately for breakfast food, I was highly disappointed. Food was coated in oil. My meats and French toast. I have had day-old leftover French toast that tasted better. I tried to eat my fiancé steak and while l flavorful, it was also coated in oils. For $40 (two breakfast entrées and 1 coffee) before tip, this was not a good choice. We went here spontaneously. They sat us at a table that wasn't supposed to be there. Right next to the bathroom and in the way of servers having to walk past the back of my husbands chair. Came here with my lovely fiancée. Grabbing breakfast before we do some Labor Day shopping. We should have looked at the reviews. The average rating is 3.5, and our experience was on par with that rating. The host opened the door for us. That was the extent of the good things to say. I ordered the steak and eggs, with hash browns and pancakes. The eggs were funny tasting, the steak was tough (ordered medium rare), and the hash browns were extremely oily. The coffee was bad. It feels like this place is very undersold. They spent a decent amount of money on making the interior cozy and warm but next to nothing on the exterior. Maybe they should think about adding an adjective to the name; for instance "Mom's Pancake Cafe". It portrays pride of ownership which currently is missed unless one walks through the door. Now on to the good stuff! It Is very homey and inviting when you enter. The booths are clean and no worn down or ripped upholstery. The staff were very attentive and friendly. My hostess greeted and sat me immediately. She checked to see if I had any immediate needs as well. My waitress was also nice. She checked on me to refill my coffee at least twice more than she absolutely needed to. She was on point. The food was good. No skillets, scrambles on the menu FYI. It did however have both the big German pancake and the smaller Dutch baby. Which are not common finds. The omelet choices are pretty basic so I ordered what I really wanted and they accommodated me in good spirits. The coffee was okay but the cups were small. My omelette was better than I expected. The chunks of veggies and good amount of cheese were a welcome touch. The slices of sausage were a bit too large however. The different texture added more mouth appeal and interest for me. The salsa was also a surprise. It was far better than at most breakfast restaurants I've been to. I had an all-around good experience and would return myself. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try. I don't agree with a three plus star rating. It's a soIid four star from me. I'll always split a crepe/omelette/skillet + the apple pancake with a friend, a hearty portion leaving us both full and satisfied (but not comatose!). This breakfast combo is the absolute best I've had in a long time! First priority for me - hot. Everything came really nice and hot - like right off the grill. You don't really get that much anymore. Second, food quality - my tomato and cheese omelette was perfect. I ordered both cheddar and feta cheese, and it was heavy on the feta, lovely. The hash browns were cooked literally perfect: hot and crispy on the outside and tender and soft on the inside - yum! And my gluten free pancakes were also cooked to perfection, and had a wonderful vanilla tinged flavor. Their Kona brewed coffee was great, and not stale at all. If we would have had time for another sit down breakfast the weekend I was here, I would have been excited to eat here a second time. I finally found a restaurant that offers the exact combo I'm looking for when ordering breakfast. Savory but with a little bit of sweet thrown in to satisfy both needs. I ordered the Cafe off the All Time favorites section. Two eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and a slice of french toast. Perfect! You get to have your hot sauce on your eggs and hash browns then a little syrup for the sweet tooth on your french toast. Except for a sausage link, and a few hash browns, I almost cleaned my plate!! Another option was named Grandma Kay and was what I got but a half of a waffle replaced the French toast. When we were finishing up I glanced over and saw the specials listed that had a ton more great options. So don't let the location at the end of a strip mall and the tinted windows discourage you.
