Visiting Illinois for work and had to stop to eat in the local cafe. This place was great and the gentleman host is so sweet. The food was delicious and we truly enjoyed it. The place is very welcoming, the staff are super attentive and the ambiance is just perfect. The restrooms are very clean and the parking lot is big. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast. The coffee is great and your cup will never hit empty unless you say...your done. In all my travels this has been one of my favorite cafe's...it reminded me of a café I would visit in Tucson AZ off of Prince road that closed after the pandemic. On to the next and remember to tip your servers

Stopped in on a busy Saturday morning. It was my first visit to this restaurant. I knew our server from another restaurant. She is great. They had tables available and we were sat immediately. We ordered the deluxe lunch plates which came with a side and soup. No, not a cup of soup, a BOWL!! With a delicious herb breadstick! The potato soup was fabulous! I hardly had room for my lunch! The monte Cristo was very good. The sweet potato fries were the best!! I will definitely be adding Morningside to my brunch rotation!

It was our first time trying the Morningside Café... We were there for a quick, simple lunch... I ordered a grilled cheese and my friend had the chili. My grilled cheese was very tasty and came with a cup of broccoli cheddar soup, which was super thick and yummy. My friend said his chili was hot and tasty. Would definitely come back here again !

Skirt steak and eggs scrambled hard and cooked in real butter. Delicious and paleo friendly!

Nice, clean, friendly. Food was decent, but pricey. Had a sandwich special, came to 17.00 without tip, and I drank water.

The building looks like it was converted from a church, and the back seating area has some high stained glass windows. In the middle of the cafe is a narrow hallway/corridor where the supply closet and the single stall bathroom is, so it segments the cafe into two areas, connected by this hallway in the center. The design feels very clearly like a remnant of an old historic building, and a brick alleyway runs along one side. In the space/room where you order (walking through the seating area and through the hallway), it opens up with huge windows and a huge industrial coffee grinder on full display. There's another counter to order, with a few pastry options, and along another side wall, a rack of F&H clothes for purchase and the drink menus. (The aesthetic reminded me of Blue Bottle.) I ordered an iced Whiskey Vanilla Latte with oak milk and it was good! I couldn't taste any whiskey at all, and when I ordered the barista had mentioned this (cooked off so you wouldn't taste it) so it was a decent vanilla latte. I'll give them props for a really cool unique flavor. We all grabbed our drinks and headed (back through the hallway) into the other room with the seating area. There is a small section with a couch, otherwise lots of tables and chairs and I was glad it wasn't too crowded so we were able to grab a table. This was a great spot to grab coffee and meet up with friends. It's in a neat little downtown area in Wheaton, and they offer creative coffee drinks, with beans and merch to purchase.

Even with the rush, they kept the line moving quickly and stayed warm and kind with everyone who came through the door. The whole energy of the place just felt comforting and happy. But over the past few months I've been there three times, and every time they are sold out of so many breads and pastries... The baguette shop was going to stay open for 8 more hours with no baguettes? Ce n'est pas bon... The pastries we bought today to enjoy onsite were very good--a strawberry mochi donut and a raspberry cream bite. The cream inside the raspberry treat was sublime. I ordered an iced mocha and couldn't finish the second half because it was too dense and sweet. My daughter was happier with her iced matcha. Folks have noted before that this place feels pricey, and that rings true. It feels almost punitively expensive here. All in all this is a pretty little place, but the supply chain clearly can't keep up and the prices are pretty high. It's probably best for early risers and folks looking for a splurge.

The excuse was that they were making it from scratch? The roll was decent, really just tasted and felt like they got the ingredients from Patel Brothers and threw it together. Same with the somosa chaat, which didn't even have a samosa. It was just one deconstructed samosa crushed along the plate and covered in yogurt and some chutneys. There was more chickpeas than samosa. Both dishes were something I'd expect to put together at home last minute if a guest showed up unannounced and even then i'd be embarrassed to serve this stuff. The tea was extremely bitter (a sign of over-boiling or using too much tea leaves) and I wasn't able to discern any spices. I tried to doctor it up once I got home, but nothing helped so it went down the drain. Blech. The cheese cake should have been delicious, but it was drying out from sitting in the case too long.
