I used* to* love* Kabobs, BUT sadly I fear it's becoming commercialized and the quality is significantly suffering. Please hear me out. They have always* struggled with CONSISTENCY issues ever since they started (I've had raw chicken multiple times from them, now it's all burnt/dry), but it's more and more apparent recently. The meats are not only overcooked and EXTREMELY DRY, but the burnt exterior is a genuine *carcinogenic* (fact-check me) issue that leaves a disgusting taste in my mouth that is worse than sand IMO. The gyro meat is more grainy and un-chewable lately. The chicken is overcooked and dry as heck. The rice is undercooked and almost hard. The salads are less fresh, and I notice a distinct difference in the olives lately (more bitter and mushy, YUCK- I love good Kalamata olives, but NO thank you). I genuinely write this in a probably naive attempt to warn Kabobs that they are cutting too many corners that will probably, eventually, bite them. I would be very sad if that happened. I used to love Just Kabobs-- I've had great gyro and chicken and salad, etc, so I KNOW FROM THE PAST that they can do better. The main problem now* is that they are SUPER busy and they probably don't care about quality control because the money is rolling in, but I hope they will reverse course and get better quality ASAP. (PS; at their peak they are capable of 5/5 stars.-- I just feel that the quality has significantly* declined lately and it's sad to see, and waste money on. I couldn't stomach the burnt dry chicken kabobs I got last night and it's going to waste in my trashcan ). read more

I read a review about this, "hidden gem," trusted it and tried. I am SO GLAD WE DID!!! (Last week and we went back today.) We tried beef, chicken and pork kabobs, loving them all and a gyro (perfect). The dinners come with a mild rice/potato pilaf and pita. We enjoyed spinach pie as a side but there are olives, roasted vegs, hummus etc. They have a small store in the adjoining lot where you can buy pitas made IN-HOUSE (you can watch) which were so delicious, having a wonderful texture and flavor. I don't know how i can go back to our usual store brand. This is NOT FINE DINING but the people are friendly and both times our orders were correct and of good value. They do have very casual inside seating but the food survives terrifically reheated so its nice to bring home. Besides you can get uncooked items next door if thats your preference. read more

Great place to get steak kabobs without breaking the bank.! I always get the Beef kabob value meal which includes one steak skewer , pita bread and a generous serving of rice with potatoes or a side salad. My husband gets the Chicken value meal which has a chicken skewer and is about 2 dollars less than the Beef. The kabobs have a delicious charbroiled flavor and are moist and meaty! It was our first time there so we were trying to figure out the menu and the guy who took our order was pretty rude when my husband asked for fries instead of rice. Aside from the service the food was good- fast, hot and had taste. I'd recommend this if you're looking for something quick but don't want McDonalds. This place is always busy and I happened to be in the area for lunch. I grabbed a gyro sandwich platter and I loved it. The most amazing and unique offering on the menu is the spicy feta spread. But the rice with potatoes is magic, the meat is cooked just right, and I've never had a "bad" experience here. Living in the "tri-city" area, this is a must go to. This might be my new favorite lunch spot. I've driven by it for years and never stopped by until the other day. The inside is pretty basic. You order on one end and pick up food on the other. I was with my daughter so we ordered a gyro dinner and a shrimp kabob with an extra pita. It was one of the best shrimp kabobs I've ever had. By the time we went around the the end of the line to pay, the food was plated and hot. Portions are big, and the price is very reasonable. I was more than enough food for the two of us. The food and service at this place are great, except when you need to order catering--a very disappointing experience with ordering catering service. The man in charge is consistently rude and unprofessional. Whenever I've tried to ask a simple question or confirm details, he responds that he's "too busy" and acts like customers are a bother. He also refused to take my order when I had another event because he said he already had too many orders. Good food means nothing if the service is disrespectful. Haven't been there in a while. Stopped for lunch today. Food was ok but noticed that the size of the plastic plates have changed(smaller size) so less portions of food. Also...they need to do something about the smell in mens bathroom. It smells like the elephant house at Brookfield zoo. Disgusting!!... Also..the new access between the restaurant and the pita factory runs very close to the edge of the disabled parking spot...very dangerous if you are a disabled passenger in a car parking there. Very unprepared for the rush. I waited in the drive thru line that held up traffic on 64 for 10 min. I decided to go in to shorten traffic line and maybe get food faster. Just Kabobs is a hidden or should I say not so hidden gem in St. Charles. There is a reason why Just Kabobs is so busy during lunch time. There's a reason why the drive through line extends past the parking lot and goes into the street during the lunch rush. The reason being is because Just Kabobs does food just right. They are known for their kabobs from chicken, to steak, to pork and gyros, their flavor/seasoning/grilling is outstanding. During the lunch time rush you can expect to see lines and lines of people waiting to get their filling of just kabobs (pun intended). They have everything pre-cooked so you don't have to worry about waiting a long time just to get your food after you order, which is a bonus. And honestly this isn't a big deal since foods during the lunch time rush is flying out the door. So you're not really being served "reheated foods" because the food is not sitting there for a long time. How do I know this? We'll I've been eating for over 39 years and I know what foods taste like after it's been sitting around and reheated and served to you, and you should too! But you won't be getting that kind of service here. There's fresh salads that can be paired with your meal along with hummus, rice, potatoes, and pita bread. Just Kabobs does everything right and they earned their 5 star review. Great food for a great price and I've had the pleasure to share this restaurant with many of my friends and family and we keep coming back for more. My only gripe is I wished they opened up a location up north in Crystal Lake, which is where I live. Then I'd give them a 6 star review!
