The original recipe steak tips are the best I have had anywhere and are easy to barbecue . We enjoy the pre seasoned meats and the seafood. All of the meat and seafood is very fresh. They also have sushi here made to order. They have lots of condiments to choose from for snacking while you prepare your meal, a nice wine selection, vegetables and desserts as well. Very disappointed in the service. Employees were rude and very disorganized. We waited 20 minutes for our order only to find out that it had been sitting there for 15 because someone could yell out a name. I fully understand that it is the busy season and it can be very stressful however would it kill you to slap on a smile speak up and say hello! The food was only good because we where starving. Stopped in to grab a couple pre-made 6 inch Italian-mix subs for my wife and I - no price marked or signed. Was shocked when I got to the checkout and was charged $16.95 EACH for the subs! Go-to for groceries in Edgartown for me. They have a large selection of meats, seafood, organic and fresh vegetables. They offer meats that are pre-seasoned and marinated that are delicious as well. They have gluten free and many organic options. There is pre-made options: sushi (though the person that makes it does truly stare you down when deciding - this makes me laugh every time), a sandwich (both breakfast and lunch) counter, a coffee bar (they serve Starbucks), and a nice variety of wine and beers / ciders (both local and otherwise). Definitely a great place to stock up for your Edgartown adventure, or trip back home. read more

Great selection of just about everything! I didn't like my experience with Sushi, I selected The Shrimp Rolls only to find out that were fake crab. Very disappointing! The Starbucks coffee is a nice touch but the staff is not always helpful. The Meat Counter had a great young man, very knowledgeable about what was in the cases, even had a tie on!!!! I have been a loyal and frequent customer (almost daily) since their opening. My wife and I love getting espresso coffee and often lunch as well as other grocery items. In the past we have always thought you folks has some of the best Lobster Rolls. Tonight we ordered two lobster rolls ($30.00 each) with Gratuity I paid $70.70!!! When we got home, the lobster roll was so bad I couldn't eat it and threw it out. I think this lobster salad was several days old!!! No chips included, I should add. This may have been a "one off" problem but I will never, ever get a lobster roll here again. In fact, I have gone from a big supporter of this business to being disappointed. read more

Well for me, henceforth, it will be 'like Hilary in Edgartown Meat & Fish', because I went completely and totally bonkers with glee upon entering this shop. Totally. Completely. 100% Bonkers. My sister, resident of Edgartown, MA very casually and breezily said, "Oh, we should go to the new fish market..." when I asked what we were doing for din-dins that evening. I had no frigging clue what the new fish market meant and what joy was in my future. See, being from New England, I am used to the cement-floor, stanky-air, humid, sweaty, gritty markets that sell the good stuff right off the boats and out of the fishermens' hands. 'It ain't pretty, but it sure is good' kind of stuff. Not that I mind that - not at all... ... But I digress. This market is beautiful. Pristine, even. The wood floors glisten with fresh polish, the counters sparkle with cleanliness, and the fish... the FISH!!! It was a thing to behold, that fish. Slabs of tuna, perfectly pink and slightly translucent. The striper, the bluefish, the oysters... I could go on forever, but I will just tell you this: it was all gorgeous. The meat counter was equally as impressive. I wanted flank steak, and boy did I ever get it: almost 5lbs of it for under $40. Where does that happen anywhere, let alone on Martha's Vineyard? It was quality, too - grass fed right there on the island. Amazing. Delicious. Fresh. Go get some. Go get some right now. They also have a fantastic selection of condiments and snacks here, too - everything from Cholula to Cape Cod 'tater chips. You can pop in and get lunch on your way to the beach from the deli foods section - containers of salads, sushi, even sandwiches and drinks. A one stop shop for many things like sushi, Starbucks -- yes Starbucks -- meats and wines. I tried what looked to be Starbucks and guess what it has the same taste as on he mainland. The sushi is made in house and is really good ( there is a guy with a sushi counter making more as things sell) I sat on one of he sofas and watched as sushi and Starbucks were going one by one. There was a large selection of wines and drinks. Also the meats that were out looked very fresh and had a range in price. I have never seen a more shiny hardwood floor! With many memories of this space's former incarnation as a video store, I viewed its new identity as a fish and meat market, plus a cafe on the side, with some trepidation. But after carefully going in to soak up the new environment and try a few items, I could see myself coming back here on a regular basis. Special kudos for it being MV's only Starbucks outlet, a careful attention to a tasty and wide variety of craft beers, and what appears to be a healthily diverse range of meats, cheeses, and (yes) fish. I help run a writers workshop on Martha's Vineyard every fall, and was delighted to find Edgartown Meat & Fish. We feed 40 people a day for more than a week, and serving fresh, local food is one of our priorities. They've been terrific to us since we discovered them. I simply call in the meat order, and send someone to pick it up. They've always had our order ready to go, carefully wrapped, and quite reasonably priced. The meat and chicken we've used has always been fresh, flavorful, and selected with obvious care. The Italian sausages are amazing (both the sweet and the hot varieties) and the burger is fresh and ground to order. We'll be back every year. I went to the market for the early morning usual: coffee, orange juice, and bagels. I've been wanting to try this place out since they opened about two weeks ago. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for a trial run, and it was. The bagels were still warm and everything was great and service at that time of day still with a smile! Ok, I thought it might have been a fluke, and I just caught them at a good time. So, I decided to go back for lunch and try out their lobster rolls. I am addicted to lobster rolls and I have tried them everywhere and these were excellent and priced well too. To get five stars, I think the service has to be even better than the food, and they hit the mark. The owner came out from behind the butcher counter to say hello and greet my wife, son and I. They made us feel like we were part of their family. The reason for my initial skepticism was the existing grocery store choices. There's only the Stop and Rob, and that place is really disgusting. Edgartown needed a place like the Meat and Fish Market, and finally got it! We will definitely be here often. read more

As longtime summer residents, our family was very happy when the Edgartown Meat & Fish Market opened its doors. They offer a wide variety of quality meat, fish and poultry--some of the meat is already marinated and ready to put on the grill. They also have a small produce aisle and offer organic breads. They carry beer and wine and have a deli counter with salads (famous chicken Caesar) , sandwiches, coffee, muffins and scones. Imagine how surprised we were when, immediately after Labor Day, the once well-stocked deli counter with friendly, service-oriented staff, changed--almost overnight. The Caesar salads, made fresh everyday, disappeared and haven't been back since. The baked goods selection is sparse and items look as if they've been there a while. Ordering sandwiches now is something of an ordeal. The two workers behind the counter appear sullen and unhappy and will barely communicate with shoppers. One can stand at the counter for 5 minutes or longer waiting to be served while the employees chat together. We are disappointed to see this negative change at a store used that used to offer fresh food AND excellent service. Perhaps the Covid virus is responsible for the downturn. read more

After some years here, I was delighted, surprised, and thrilled to find this higher end market with meats, gourmet foods, and carry out services, as well as Starbucks coffee goodies and some cushy sofas. We would have been regular enthusiastic customers!!!! Open 8-8, today we arrived at 6:40 pm to get take out sandwiches. We shopped for a bit and at 6:50 went to order our food. The two Latino workers at the counter said they had stopped making food to go at 7. It was 6:50 pm. Both were standing there with nothing to do, and it wasn't even 7. Nowhere was any such time posted. Both workers were surly and rude. That did it for us...end of enthusiasm, although we are here for 6 months yearly, I would never return. Cronies and Espresso Love, here we come. .good businesses can fail when they have bad service!!!! On October 20 th we decided to try it again. This time they advertised sliced cold cuts extensively on their board, only to be out of most of them, had only one check out for coffee and the whole market, and had a worse slow and rude employee than the first time. Off season, it was depleted of a lot of fresh stock...I predict FAILURE. You have to provide competent service and decent product. Done! read more

I think the excitement surrounding Edgartown meat and fish needs to be tamped down a bit. Their meat and fish are very good, but are by no means exceptional for the island, especially on the fish side. Plus, they are very expensive. What are most disappointing however are the prepared foods and fresh sandwiches. The sandwiches contain very, very little actual meat. I felt as though I might as well have eaten a baguette. Also, we had some pasta that was pretty awful. On top of that, the sandwich service was slow, the people making the sandwiches were rude, and all of this was relatively expensive. read more

Their house steak tips are out of this world! That is our go-to "we have guests visiting" or "special occasion" purchase. We will choose to go get the steak tips and grill them up rather than go out to a restaurant, they're THAT GOOD. Great beer selection, lots of micro brews and local New England stuff. They have a lot of wine but I don't feel confidant enough in my wine skills to comment on their selection. The grocery side is a little on the pricey side but you are getting really nice, tasty stuff for your $, lots of nice meats, cheeses, breads and crackers and such. They've got great soups (try the broccoli & cheddar!) and for those of you who can't bear being on the island without your Starbucks, they serve Starbucks here. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they have stood by their word to stay open year round, which is great for us island folk but probably not great for their bottom line, it's much appreciated by those of us here in the winter. The meats are amazing, the cheese selection is great, and for those of you that complain everything is more expensive on the Vineyard they sell Miraval rose wine for $2 cheaper a bottle than my local liquor store in Newton does.
