Charbroiled oysters
Tony J.

Went here a few times during the trip. On wkds it turns into a dance party w djs. A helluva blast. The service of bartenders and manager is top notch. They have a killer wine collection I don't know many places that have opus or lynch bages by the glass!!!that's just a taste of what they have in the cellar. The food is where they get a few dings. The charbroiled oysters are covered in Parmesan coating so you can't really tastes the oysters. The clam chowder had unincorporated balls of flour in from when they were making it. Could be one offs but as you see am not the only one that shares this experience. But the location (right on the marina) and staff and drinks and music and how long this place has been rocking make this a must try just don't go expecting gourmet food experience.

Cocktails include a Smoking Old Fashioned

What a beautiful restaurant on the waterfront in Edgartown with a fantastic menu. So glad my MV frequent-visiting friend insisted we go here. We sat at the bar-style seating on the patio. Loved the dinghies heading back to the yachts after those visitors finished dinner in town. Our server was great! Made some great suggestions. We started with great cocktails. Mine was the dramatically presented Smoked Old Fashioned--poured before customers with a crystal decanter of smoke. I later had an excellent Chardonnay from Sonoma. My friend has been here a number of times and one of the bartenders knows her now! We shared the Bazaar Souk Salad. So good and different, with great feta, wine-braised chick peas, figs, mint, tomatoes, pistachios, and more. A plus and for me, such a unique salad. We also shared the rich veal Osso Buco with crispy cavatelli. The veal and sauce were amazing, although I would prefer without the cavatelli. But one orders Osso Buco for the slow cooked rich meat, and that was delivered for sure. Edgartown was hopping on a gorgeous August night and I loved dining here.

Mushroom Polenta & Tea

Came here with a group for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and were seated at a lovely table on the water. I ordered the mushroom polenta for my main and was disappointed to discover that I couldn't add a poached egg or protein to the dish. Apparently you can only add protein to the salads. The dish was tasty regardless and my husband enjoyed the shawarma "tacos".

Oysters plucked right out of Katama harbor. Like biting the ocean.

They get it at the Atlantic and here's why. Combine hospitality, great service with a smile, the freshest ingredients simply prepared with love. Everything from the tomato soup to a brilliant and briny plate of Katama oysters shines. A burger charms with a tangle of freshly cut fries. A lobster roll is the finest, perched over perfectly toasted brioche. Not too much mayo and a glass of champagne makes all your cares disappear. Class act.

Arayes

Our service was excellent, our waiters spent time discussing the menu in detail with us and joked around with our table. We sat on the patio and the views were pretty. The food was the best we have had so far on our trip! We all had a variety of foods and no one had anything that was bad. Their specialty cocktail was delicious and pretty! Can't wait to go back. The Arayes was my personal favorite.

Wild Salmon

Frankly, I don't get the bad reviews. Granted, it's off-season so there were no crowds and the service was great. We started with the mussels, which are to die for. The only negative is not enough bread to soak up the delicious broth! (I guess I could've asked for more.) For mains, we had the branzino and salmon, which were both perfectly cooked and quite flavorful. The sear on the salmon was just about perfect on the flesh side and the skin had a nice crisp. With the smashed pease, it was great. Expensive? Yes. Overpriced? Dude. You're on a seasonal island where every single thing is expensive. So, if you're expecting inexpensive, stay on the mainland and go to the crimson crustacean. If you're on island and want a very nice meal with a great atmosphere and wonderful people, go to The Atlantic..

Lobster roll!

Very good food! Great view of the harbor and friendly servers. The lobster roll on a croissant is to die for!

Plenty of seating.

Nice day to visit the area, but got a little peck-ish. My friend suggested we stop in and check out the menu. He had been before and thought they did a good job. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and right on the dock, so you can see all the boats come and go. Nice way to pass the time. I liked the space. Something about the decor sat with me nicely. Maybe it was that traditional dock restaurant feel, not sure, but it was nice. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs throughout the meal. They do a nice job and based on the wine list prices and menu items, a popular place for a higher end meal. A fishing boat arrived a little ways down the dock and started cutting up a fish right there. (See picture). I was amazed on how fast he did it, my friend did not care to watch while eating. The meals were nicely done. The watermelon salad with feta was the highlight. So yummy. We split that and man was it delicious. The crab cakes and lobster croissant hit the spot as a lite fare. We were surprised because they came across as a high end establishment, but served a meal with a big chip in the plate. I thought it might be part of the ambiance, but my friend thought it should have been caught before going out to service. Anyway, the meals were great and we enjoyed a nice relaxing meal in a great town. You would not think they were as big as they are from the front, so don't let the outside surprise you. They have a lot of seating and do a nice job. Plus, you can see some really expensive yachts while enjoying your lobster croissant. Check it out!

The restaurant is quite busy and can be cramped, but it has a great view because it's right along the water. With how busy it was, I was surprised that the staff were so friendly and attentive. The oysters were amazing. We ordered the fisherman's platter which included onion rings, fries, fried haddock, fried clams, fried shrimp, fried scallops, and coleslaw. Every single item was delicious. I was expecting to not like at least one of them, but they were all so good! The batter was perfect, well seasoned and so crispy. The restaurant is in a super cute area with a beautiful view of the beach. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. We ordered lobster and lobster rolls -- both were fresh and delicious. One of my friends didn't know how to crack open the whole lobster, and the kitchen staff kindly did it for her. That kind of thoughtful service really stood out. Overall, great food, chill vibe, and excellent service. Definitely worth the stop if you're biking or exploring the area!

**BEST MEAL EVER**…read more AMBIANCE (4/5): It was a nice sunny day and they had plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the sun and people watch (although there weren't many people walking by). SERVICE (4/5): There weren't many tables, but service was good. We weren't in a rush and taking our time, so it was the perfect pace for us. FOOD (5/5): EVERYTHING WAS A 10/10! $4 EACH PER OYSTER: we tried the signature, honeysuckle, and top shell. They were all delicious and served with a vinegar, kimchee slaw, and cocktail sauce. All of them were so refreshing and great as an appetizer! $23 TUNA CARPACCIO: fresh, lemon sauce & crunchy tobiko eggs. The presentation is immaculate! $22 BLUE CRAB SLIDER: the homemade chips it comes with is AMAZING! Love any homemade chips. Served on a sweet Hawaiian roll, it's beautifully plated and blue crab is better than lobster in my opinion! $15 HOUSE MADE CHOWDER: can't go wrong with chowder! $36 HERB BAKED COD: so perfectly seasoned and cooked so it's soft but flaky. Comes à la carte. DRINKS (5/5): $19 PUMPKIN ESPRESSO MARTINI: this was a seasonal drink and it was SOOO GOOD! $20 BACON OLD FASHIONED: this was EVEN BETTER than the pumpkin martini! Candied bacon, and a perfectly crafted cocktail.

I went with a group of girlfriends on Tuesday night and we had a great evening. While my preference is to sit on the patio for lunch, the dining room is a wonderful vibe at dinner. I loved my pork chop that I ordered for my main course and also thoroughly enjoyed the steamed asparagus, roasted carrots and smoked tomato grits. Our waiter, Nash, was a standout and really facilitated a smooth dining experience. We ordered a few desserts to share but the clear winner was the carrot cake which was a knock out. We will be back for lunch this summer but are also thrilled to have this on our list for dinner.

I stumbled across Edgartown Seafood Market on a whim, not craving anything in particular. I asked the guy behind the counter, "What are you known for?" Without hesitation, he said, "The bluefish spread." Let me tell you -- it hit the spot. Flavorful, fresh, and just salty enough to keep you coming back for more. We paired it with Wheat Thins and chips, and it instantly became a staple for us. Since that first visit, we've added their cole slaw and seaweed salad to our regular order -- both are fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced. This is one of those places that makes you want to eat and shop like a local. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. If you're on the island, this is a must-stop spot. Whether you're picking up seafood to cook or grabbing ready-made bites, they make you feel like you've discovered a Vineyard insider's gem. Verdict: Bluefish spread is the move. Stock up -- you'll regret not getting more.

All I wanted that day was some fried shrimp and clam strips -- and for me, the strips are key because they skip the extra parts you get with whole clams. Unfortunately, they were out of clam strips, so we went with fried shrimp, fries, and lobster bisque. Since I had to share with my wife, I asked for extra shrimp -- but heads up, it's $3 per shrimp. Not complaining, just letting you know. The lobster bisque came out hot and creamy, but I was hoping for a bit more depth of flavor and a little more lobster meat and a little less bisque. The shrimp were tasty and fried well, but personally, I prefer mine butterflied for that extra texture and presentation. What stood out most, though, was the service. Friendly, quick, and attentive, which matters a lot when you're trying a local favorite. Overall, Square Rigger delivers a solid experience, but I left wishing for just a little more -- especially when you're at a place with that kind of reputation. Verdict: Good shrimp, great service, but I'll be back hoping for those clam strips next time.

A member of the family had requested this location for her birthday dinner. The person who answered the phone "Idk. It's Friday night. I don't have time for this. It's busy." This should have been our first red flag. A separate conversation and call at another time, the GM asked over the phone if we'd like a cake or something special brought in. Very thoughtful. "Yeah we'd love that! Thank you!" When we arrived at our reservation time, the table had to be rearranged while the party waited. Our party was 8 people. When we inquired about the cake, no one present had any idea what we were talking about. They kindly offered to put a sampler dish together which we accepted but all other food and drink took so long, we cancelled it because we just wanted ultimately just wanted to leave. This is a steak house. A few people at the table ordered steaks with a medium center. Plates were brought out and we were advised the steaks had a medium. Every single steak was completely grey inside(well done). There was not a spot of pink inside. We didn't ask for a replacement steak, we just let them know so they would be aware for future steaks and someone else's future steak! We didn't bother asking for the replacement steak because it already took incredibly long for us to get our food and we were hungry. The waitress never apologized. She didn't look like she wanted to be there and was awkwardly hovering between the 2 tables they had filled. Two new steaks were brought out which we thought was nice but it was also suspiciously fast considering our previous long wait. We cut into the new steaks, almost completely raw. There was a man that poured water for us when we sat. He was the only one that looked like he enjoyed working there and showed any real customer service. The menu says 8oz sirloin and instead you get a 10oz New York strip. A larger piece sounds good but it's not what we asked for when we were ordering our food. If you're going to serve a different cut and size, why would you not change your menu? Or at least let customers know when ordering. Drinks were HEAVY. Can't complain about the quality of liquor. The drinks would be put on the table and take almost 10 minutes to get the next drink. The bartender was kind a remixed one of our drinks when we asked to sweeten it. Just wish drinks came out faster. The other food was great! We had pastas, salmon, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. They were very tasty. If the service, and steaks were better, this place would be recommended as it had beautiful flavor. The steak would have been perfect too if they knew how to cook it!
