We were in MV for a girls trip and I'm so glad we celebrated our last night at 19 Raw. I recommended this restaurant to my friends based on the reviews and it did not disappoint - the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. To start, a couple of us ordered oysters as an appetizer and they were delicious, fresh and tasty. For our main courses, we ordered filet mignon, chicken, lobster tagliatelle and tuna from the diverse menu. Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything was cooked exactly as ordered and seasoned perfectly. We also ordered a few sides, such as the roasted carrots with cashew butter, brussel sprouts with pork landons and my favorite - the scallion goat cheese mash, which were mashed potatoes packed with yumminess! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent service, while the ambience was quite comfortable and inviting. I remembered reading reviews about the carrot cake and although we were all full, we knew we had to try it so we got one slice for the five of us and it may have been the best carrot cake I've ever eaten. If you like carrot cake this is a must and well worth it. If you're in Edgartown, I would definitely include 19 Raw in your restaurant list. read more

The ambiance at 19 Raw is exceptional. It's intimate, stylish, and definitely has that date-night vibe. The service was also great throughout our visit. We started with the lobster and caviar Hawaiian roll, which was flavorful and delicious. The grilled octopus served over pork and white beans was another standout--the flavor profile here was top tier. Honestly, the appetizers had me expecting the rest of the meal to be on the same level. Unfortunately, the entrées were a different story. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly temperature-wise, but the lack of seasoning was unbelievable. The execution was there, but it desperately needed flavor. We also ordered the halibut, which was extremely dry--to the point that I couldn't finish it. The sides brought things back around. The jalapeño corn and Brussels sprouts were both and packed with flavor. And then there was the Filthy Dirty Rich Martini with caviar-stuffed olives --AMAZING. Easily one of the highlights of the night and something I would absolutely order again. Overall, 19 Raw nails the ambiance, cocktails, appetizers, and service. The appetizers in particular showed just how good the kitchen can be, which made the disappointing entrées even more surprising. The menu has so many delicious items but we kept it to 4 things to share. We had 8 oysters...4 Honeysuckle (our favorite) and 4 Top Shell, which are new to us. Both came from Katama, so ultra-local. They were served ice cold and with 3 sauces. We had one of each just with lemon (incredible) and then one with the kimchi purée and one with the mignonette. Delicious! Then we shared the prosciutto wrapped & grilled mozzarella, which came with a little side of cooked cherry tomatoes, halibut sashimi with delicious house made vinegar chips, and an order of their amazing French fries (which is what brought us there in the first place. We have been coming to 19 raw for the past couple of summers but we have only ever eaten there for lunch so I was excited to try it for dinner. I went with a group of girlfriends on Tuesday night and we had a great evening. While my preference is to sit on the patio for lunch, the dining room is a wonderful vibe at dinner. I loved my pork chop that I ordered for my main course and also thoroughly enjoyed the steamed asparagus, roasted carrots and smoked tomato grits. Our waiter, Nash, was a standout and really facilitated a smooth dining experience. We ordered a few desserts to share but the clear winner was the carrot cake which was a knock out. This is a fantastic place to go as a large group. The snapper could feed three people and was crispy but also delicate, the lamb was cooked perfectly, the fish of the day was fresh and lemony. The curry mussels were so good everyone was using the sauce on other items. We had a 10 person group and everyone got to share. Surprisingly, my favorite item was the carrots side. It had a delicious sauce and was tender and sweet. The broccolini would have been good but it was very undercooked and hard to eat. The crawfish and lobster pasta was overcooked and a little mushy. Those are the only two items out of a ton of items that I didn't like. Everything else was delicious and I would order again. Hello Emily Interesting rebuttal The glass of wine that was removed was due to the fact we ordered bottles, and a staff member came over and started to pour a glass, and we stopped them. I think they poured a quarter of a glass. Regarding the desserts I did not have any of them ( no trust in thr kitchen ). Your manager did not check in with us but the waiter did apologize. Regarding the sushi grade striped Bass the decision to order and eat raw dish is up to the client not the kitchen to improperly cook it. I also still left a 20 % tip as I felt the waiter should not suffer for the kitchens issue. read more

Lobster salad was a HUGE portion and had at least 4 whole lobster claws and even more lobster meat throughout the whole salad - so worth it. Steak on the Filet Mignon sandwich was tender and the caesar salad and clam chowder were good too. Outside patio area is much nicer in my opinion than the inside area, with plenty of umbrellas for shade if needed, so definitely worth getting a table out there on a nice day. read more

Came with a group of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) sadly the restaurant doesn't take reservations so we were quoted about a 30-45 min wait. 49 mins later, we were sat! I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant. I wish that we can return but it's on Martha's Vineyard and we were just visiting for a couple of days. We took a nice stroll from our hotel and arrived five minutes before they opened on a Friday afternoon. It's a first come first serve basis and boy do they get busy quick! Service was excellent with attention to detail and timing. We ordered the lump crab appetizer and French onion soup to share. OH MY GOD:: I can't believe I'm saying this buts it's by far the BEST French onion soup I've had and I've had Many Great ones. This soup MAY make me take another ferry ride just to have seconds. I ordered the herb cod and he the prime rib sandwich. My cod was cooked to PERFECTION! We enjoyed our night at 19 Raw. This was our second visit to the island and second time at the restaurant - we made it a point to visit from Oak Bluffs. Since there are no reservations, we had to wait about an hour to be sat. Once we were finally seated, we were excited to eat. We specifically remembered the shrimp, crab and lobster ceviche from our last visit, so we reordered and it was good, although not as good as we remembered. The bacon was new to us, but it was just alright. It's not thick cut bacon and it might be slightly candied, so there wasn't much special about it- we probably wouldn't order again. I ordered the duck breast, which was great. My boyfriend's cod was just alright. The real star of the show was the roasted carrots with cashew butter. Those were fantastic! The side potatoes were also amazing. We would likely come back again, although we would really consider whether the wait and price are worth it. read more

Ordered roasted carrots and they crunched like they were still raw. Couldn't get my fork or knife through them? Ordered a pork dish and the knife couldn't cut through the meat it was a butter knife? No water refill through out the entire meal we ordered oysters apps and main courses. We were here at 4:30pm not a busy time and plenty of staff chit chatting with one another. We were asked if we wanted a take out bag for remaining food and we said no because we didn't have a refrigerator at our hotel. The server goes "really you can't take it?!" And gives me a stare down like I'm crazy. like what do you want me to do I just explained why I cannot take the leftovers. I don't like wasting food either. I also don't like food poisoning. We eat at restaurants in major cities all the time at many different price points high and low and we just felt cheated paying these prices with such little consideration for service and quality control of food. read more

Frustrating experience at this restaurant. We are a family of five. Our youngest is six. We get it. That said we take our kids to nice restaurants and there were plenty of kids in this restaurant. First disappointment was the waitress getting every upset with the hostess for seating us in her section. Apparently she thought we wouldn't be ordering a lot of food. Second disappointment was being forced to order all the food at once. The waitress did a terrible job at educating us on how much food would actually be coming to the table so we significantly over ordered. Given it was a raw bar we expected small portions. They were huge. Which is great if you can adjust as you go a bit. But once the apps came out within 5 minutes it felt like we were just being rushed out of the restaurant. So when we come back to Martha's Vineyard we won't be coming back here. Food was good not great. Service and timing was terrible considering the cost. Maybe we'd have a better experience if we didn't have the kids but I probably won't find out because we won't be coming back. We weren't sure what part of the patio to sit on and opted for the high top once we were brought to the other side of the patio and decided we preferred the people watching to the quiet!
