Pretty decent casual takeaway grub! Came here on a beautiful Thursday afternoon for a spot of lunch. They were out of whole belly clams so we settled for clam strips and supplemented with the lobster roll, chowder, and a diet coke. Total came to ~$38, so not cheap but decently reasonable given the location and y'know...seafood. Clam strips were a tad bready but fresh and yummy, and portion size was legit. The chowder was surprisingly good! Stuffed with clams and not too salty or watery. The lobster roll was the real surprise, though. I swear and die by Alive and Kicking in Cambridge, but for less than $20 this lobster roll was pretty awesome -- just stuffed to the brim with good lobster meat, some big claw chunks in there too, and not too much goopy mayo. There's a good deck and patio to the left of Quarterdeck that has picnic tables and a view of the harbor. You can watch the fishers and boats pulling in! read more

Ordered a $27 fried scallop platter. It came with five small scallops and fries. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich and asked the person working there what it come with and she said cole slaw. It didn't come out with any sides. While we were ordering, another customer came to the window and said he had just picked up his order and it was missing a scallop platter. Super convenient and super fast. You will see a few people ordering their food and sitting on the curb across the way to eat. An easy grab and go kind of place. I stopped by here this past Saturday night with my wife for dinner. We had eaten a late snack and were looking for a fast to go dinner whenever we found the Quarterdeck in Edgartown. This is to go only type of place where you walk up, place your order, wait around and take your food to wherever you are headed. Due to that there is not much to this stand other than a couple of cash registers in the front under a huge menu and then a kitchen through a window behind that. For dinner on this day I decided to go with the clam strips platter while my wife merely went with a bowl of clam chowder. It took maybe 5-10 minutes for our food to be ready and we took it to some of the public picnic tables that overlooked the bay nearby. Whenever I opened up my meal I was impressed with the amount of both clam strips and fries that were inside. The clam strips here were cooked nicely and were nice and tender while the breading was thick and lacked a little flavor. Honestly, if the breading had a little more flavor or they had given me some type of sauce to dip them in, I think that I would have enjoyed them better. As for the fries, they were hot temperature wise and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. My food was decent and while I thought it could have been a bit better, I did enjoy the grab and go nature of the Quarterdeck. read more

During May 2020 visit. We bike ride around the island and stop in at the Quarter Deck. It was a convenient location to stop with our bicycles. The outside was open for business, but the restaurant was not open including the patio overlooking the ocean. When all the restaurants have closed down and you are In need for a snack, this is your place. It is open late and they have all kinds of late night grub. You could eat here during the day too, but it's a grab and go place. No tables or chairs. Their menu consists of mostly fried items. We tried the clam strips and the fish sandwich. The clam strips came on a huge bed of fries. No need to order extra fries. You will have enough for yourself and to share. The fish sandwich was mediocre. It was smaller than expected. It came on a roll. It was flavorless, but the tartar sauce helped with the flavor. Would I return? Probably. Everything closes early in MV. Stopped by for a quick afternoon snack. We ordered the clam strips (strips only, no meal). They were quite good, definitely the some of the meatier strips that I have had and they weren't fried to a crisp, they were golden and you could actually taste the clam, not just the batter. read more

Maybe it's one of those hit-or-miss situations depending on who is working but it seems this place gets an undeserved bad rep. It's a casual cash-only takeaway spot with the basic hot dog / burger / fried food combo. We biked into town with our young child and didn't feel like waiting around for bike parking and trying to get into Seafood Shanty for a lobster roll (especially since we had dinner reservations and didn't want to get stuffed). For $21 we got a much larger lobster roll to split than we expected and wife and I thought it was damn good. Fries were also a good portion, crispy and well-seasoned which is the best you can hope for with fries. The rule of thumb here: If it ain't fried, don't order it!! And don't expect anything here to be "worth the money"...you're not on the mainland anymore, and as such, you're a captive audience! So, order the whole belly clams at your own risk and don't act surprised when your tartar sauce comes in packets...You didn't think this was Legal Seafood, did you?!! Best thing on the menu, hands down, is the fried fish sandwich: a big filet of some sort of flat fish (flounder? sole?? who cares???) that definitely doesn't all fit in the bun, usually served with lettuce on top and tartar on the side...but my recommendation? Skip the lettuce, ask for a slice of cheese instead, and dip in the tartar as you go! Skip the lobster roll: the lobster meat is chopped up so fine, there are no actual chunks left, and a TON of celery has been added. Theoretically mayo was added, too, but it's hard to tell, because the meat is so flavorless and watery, indicating that it might've been recently thawed from the freezer! Given that I was charged $16 for this not-terribly-stuffed mess, I was unimpressed...you can literally get a MUCH better lobster roll for $10 LESS at the Edgartown Stop & Shop!! The Quarterdeck closes at 1 a.m., and is pretty much your last chance to get food in Edgartown that you don't already have in your fridge! So, wield this power responsibly, choose wisely (fried, people, FRIED!!!!), and you'll stumble home, still drunk, but satisfied!!! read more

This place had one for $15, it was right before the fireworks on the 5th (hurricane prevented Independence Day from actually happening on time), and I was starving. I try this place every year expecting it to get better. It's take out fried food. How hard can it be to get it right? Good fried food is crisp and not greasy. The food here is soggy and dripping in grease. This visit I had the fish sandwich and fries. Both were horrible. The fish batter was soggy and the bun was covered in grease. The fries were barely golden and were not crisp at all. It's clear the people that own this place don't care about quality. While standing in line to order, we had plenty of time to read the menu board. When the annoyed woman behind the counter said she could take our order, my husband started to say "clam.....", she rudely cut him off and said they had no whole belly clams with such an attitude like we should've known better to ask. It would've been helpful to her, if she used a marker and wrote "OUT of whole belly clams" on a paper plate if she was so annoyed of people asking for them. The quarterdeck is an old standby! They serve up a wide array of deep fried seafood and ballpark-esque food like burgers and dogs. The one thing I order here is their clam chowder! It is thick, creamy and delicious with huge clams - hard to beat even by their swanky neighbors! I had my first bowl of clam chowder here as a teen and every year I come back for more! There is no seating here so I usually walk it up to the Edgartown dock and eat on the upper deck! There's also bench seating by the harbor or if you're up for a long walk perhaps a beach picnic at Edgartown light! Fast and fresh take out - or a great place to stop for a quick snack! They didn't even taste very good, not bad tasting, but lobster tastes great, this was far from great. The clam chowder my daughter had was milky looking water and had hardly any clams. We stopped in to get some take out. Very, Very, Very disappointing. First we were given the wrong food, not the wrong order, half of the order was wrong. When we brought it back, they were pleasant, gave us the right food, but the clam strips were burnt beyond recognition. I've Never had a restaurant "burn" clam strips. It was AWFUL. "There is NO WAY the kitchen didn't see the condition of that order when they sent it out." They Knew they were giving us garbage and didn't care. We gave up trying and will never go back again. Pricing is good but food quality is sub par or par at best. The town doesn't require masks outside but upon approaching the counter I was yelled at with a "PLEASE PUT A MASK ON SIR". "I thought they don't require mask outside" was my reply, as I was met back with a snappy "no mask no service". They advertise their fried shrimp with chipotle mayo and we're completely out. The picture from the article made the fritters looked uber delectable and oh-em-gee, $7 for THREE fritters!? I'm so on top of that. My girlfriends and I made our way on over to Edgartown to the Quarterdeck at around 4 pm. Unbeknownst to us, It's not a sit-down restaurant. It's more of a snack stand. I can dig that. There was a small crowd there already. Fortunately, most of them were just waiting on their orders. The menu features an array of fried goodies. It has affordable options, which is nice. The lobster fritters option is not listed on the board menu, it's on a small yellow menu off to the side on the bottom right of the board. After waiting in line to make our order, we waited for about 20 minutes for our food. We were getting quite anxious (getting hangry) as everyone else's orders got picked up except for ours. The cashier apologized and told us the fritters take longer to prepare. Finally, we got our fritters. They were more doughy and fishy. Nonetheless, they were fried, fresh, and hot, which made it pretty satiating. We were considering the corn dogs, which the article also recommended. Not much here on the menu that I would want to order. 90% of the menu is fried food. Remaining menu consists of hot dogs, hamburgers or a $19 lobster roll. In years past, this was our go-to place for fried whole clams. You could order them in 3 different Chinese-takeout box sizes. Then over the years, prices for said clams got ridiculously high. Now, they only come in one-serving size (the small rectangular xred & white checkered paper bowls) for $19. Hubby had the fried clams; I went elsewhere for healthier food. read more
