I want to start by saying we've been stopping at the quarterdeck for years it's become increasingly more helpful as we have three young kids and can get to go but today's food was bad on a level I haven't even experienced at a roadside dairy bar. The fish was soggy and hardly battered and this was immediately after receiving it- they charge $18 dollars for a shrimp platter with five soggy again barely battered shrimp and not even a full serving of fries. Overall we spent over a hundred dollars and were left super disappointed. This will be a pass moving forward and I suggest you skip it read more

The Quarterdeck is my go to for delicious food and great service at a very reasonable price. I love the walk up window which provides for fast service. It is located next to the bay where you can sit and eat your meals with a beautiful view of Chappy. Tina is always upbeat, providing great service with a smile. read more

Cash only.Right downtown. Take your food to MemorialWharf and grab a picnic table. Heaven!!

Ordered a $27 fried scallop platter. It came with five small scallops and fries. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich and asked the person working there what it come with and she said cole slaw. It didn't come out with any sides. While we were ordering, another customer came to the window and said he had just picked up his order and it was missing a scallop platter. The place is cash only and we received our change (over three dollars) in all coins . read more

The food here was awesome. I don't normally comment on this stuff, but it was the best lobster roll that I've had on the island so far (best of 4). I think the low rating, based on reading a few comments from several morons, is because people don't realize it's a take-out restaurant. If great food and knowing how to read is your thing, then this is the spot for you! read more

Good food at reasonable prices and so convenient to the Edgartown harbor! The menu includes a nice variety of items, from lobster rolls to cheeseburgers. We enjoy picking up lunch there a couple times a week! read more

Super convenient and super fast. You will see a few people ordering their food and sitting on the curb across the way to eat. An easy grab and go kind of place. Unfortunately, my kids did not like the cheeseburger (my son pretty much eats everything). Cheeseburger was a bit greasy but that's to be expected. He did eat up the mozzarella sticks since he loves cheese. The lobster roll is not that great. I did not finish it. I would not recommend it. If you're in a hurry, you can go here or grab a slice of pizza just down the way. read more

Quartdeck is an Edgartown go to takeout joint. We like it for a quick lunch bite when on the run. It doesn't pretend to be something else and grateful for a quick cheap eats. I stopped by here this past Saturday night with my wife for dinner. We had eaten a late snack and were looking for a fast to go dinner whenever we found the Quarterdeck in Edgartown. This is to go only type of place where you walk up, place your order, wait around and take your food to wherever you are headed. Due to that there is not much to this stand other than a couple of cash registers in the front under a huge menu and then a kitchen through a window behind that. For dinner on this day I decided to go with the clam strips platter while my wife merely went with a bowl of clam chowder. It took maybe 5-10 minutes for our food to be ready and we took it to some of the public picnic tables that overlooked the bay nearby. Whenever I opened up my meal I was impressed with the amount of both clam strips and fries that were inside. The clam strips here were cooked nicely and were nice and tender while the breading was thick and lacked a little flavor. Honestly, if the breading had a little more flavor or they had given me some type of sauce to dip them in, I think that I would have enjoyed them better. As for the fries, they were hot temperature wise and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. My food was decent and while I thought it could have been a bit better, I did enjoy the grab and go nature of the Quarterdeck. read more

During May 2020 visit. We bike ride around the island and stop in at the Quarter Deck. It was a convenient location to stop with our bicycles. The outside was open for business, but the restaurant was not open including the patio overlooking the ocean. Prices were a bit pricey, but the quality was good and fresh during the pre summer of 2020. Were glad we found this spot, as not much was open during this Covid19 time. Great food and service. read more

When all the restaurants have closed down and you are In need for a snack, this is your place. It is open late and they have all kinds of late night grub. You could eat here during the day too, but it's a grab and go place. No tables or chairs. Their menu consists of mostly fried items. We tried the clam strips and the fish sandwich. The clam strips came on a huge bed of fries. No need to order extra fries. You will have enough for yourself and to share. The fish sandwich was mediocre. It was smaller than expected. It came on a roll. It was flavorless, but the tartar sauce helped with the flavor. Would I return? Probably. Everything closes early in MV. You have your choice of ice cream places late at night, but if you want food, then this is your place. read more

Pretty decent casual takeaway grub! Came here on a beautiful Thursday afternoon for a spot of lunch. They were out of whole belly clams so we settled for clam strips and supplemented with the lobster roll, chowder, and a diet coke. Total came to ~$38, so not cheap but decently reasonable given the location and y'know...seafood. Clam strips were a tad bready but fresh and yummy, and portion size was legit. The chowder was surprisingly good! Stuffed with clams and not too salty or watery. The lobster roll was the real surprise, though. I swear and die by Alive and Kicking in Cambridge, but for less than $20 this lobster roll was pretty awesome -- just stuffed to the brim with good lobster meat, some big claw chunks in there too, and not too much goopy mayo. There's a good deck and patio to the left of Quarterdeck that has picnic tables and a view of the harbor. You can watch the fishers and boats pulling in! read more

Stopped by for a quick afternoon snack. We ordered the clam strips (strips only, no meal). They were quite good, definitely the some of the meatier strips that I have had and they weren't fried to a crisp, they were golden and you could actually taste the clam, not just the batter. read more

Disappointing quality and amount of food for the price. We ordered the fish sandwich which was very smalland flavorless, clam chowder which was plain tasting and gritty in texture, and a veggie gyro which was also flavorless and cheap in quality. Great location, may be better if you are imbibing but not worth the money. read more

Maybe it's one of those hit-or-miss situations depending on who is working but it seems this place gets an undeserved bad rep. It's a casual cash-only takeaway spot with the basic hot dog / burger / fried food combo. We biked into town with our young child and didn't feel like waiting around for bike parking and trying to get into Seafood Shanty for a lobster roll (especially since we had dinner reservations and didn't want to get stuffed). For $21 we got a much larger lobster roll to split than we expected and wife and I thought it was damn good. Fries were also a good portion, crispy and well-seasoned which is the best you can hope for with fries. That plus a hot dog for the young one was $33 in total without a long wait that we ate near the curb across the street. read more

The Quarterdeck is a classic for indulgent, low-key, and old-timey food. They have a wide variety of seafood and american classics. Perfect for nonchalant dining and on-the-go grub too! If you're in Edgartown bring your kids here for lunch for a fun and memorable experience. All of their food is good, but among my favorites are the grilled cheese, clam chowder, fried fish & clams, and their milkshakes! If you're worried about the lack of seating, fear not! The nearby wharf is a great place to eat with your family, and you can take the nearby ferry to chappy for a spectacular & nearly private picnic. read more

Order the lobster roll. Blew my mind. Was out of clam strips both times I went by but it's probably for the best.

You are drunk, yes? And it's after midnight? Good. Then you are in the right place! Nobody comes here because the food is good! They come here because they're drunk, the food is fried, and nothing else is open...Otherwise they'd go to a real restaurant and get quality food that won't necessarily harden their arteries on the first pass!! The rule of thumb here: If it ain't fried, don't order it!! And don't expect anything here to be "worth the money"...you're not on the mainland anymore, and as such, you're a captive audience! So, order the whole belly clams at your own risk and don't act surprised when your tartar sauce comes in packets...You didn't think this was Legal Seafood, did you?!! Best thing on the menu, hands down, is the fried fish sandwich: a big filet of some sort of flat fish (flounder? sole?? who cares???) that definitely doesn't all fit in the bun, usually served with lettuce on top and tartar on the side...but my recommendation? Skip the lettuce, ask for a slice of cheese instead, and dip in the tartar as you go! Skip the lobster roll: the lobster meat is chopped up so fine, there are no actual chunks left, and a TON of celery has been added. Theoretically mayo was added, too, but it's hard to tell, because the meat is so flavorless and watery, indicating that it might've been recently thawed from the freezer! Given that I was charged $16 for this not-terribly-stuffed mess, I was unimpressed...you can literally get a MUCH better lobster roll for $10 LESS at the Edgartown Stop & Shop!! The Quarterdeck closes at 1 a.m., and is pretty much your last chance to get food in Edgartown that you don't already have in your fridge! So, wield this power responsibly, choose wisely (fried, people, FRIED!!!!), and you'll stumble home, still drunk, but satisfied!!! read more

I was told by many to get a lobster roll. This place had one for $15, it was right before the fireworks on the 5th (hurricane prevented Independence Day from actually happening on time), and I was starving. I ordered the roll, and didn't have to wait long. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find it all that appealing. There was a decent amount of lobster, but the roll was only maybe 5". I expected a bit more flavor out of it too. I would give it another try because it seemed to be pretty popular. I'll order something different though. read more

The quarterdeck is an old standby! They serve up a wide array of deep fried seafood and ballpark-esque food like burgers and dogs. The one thing I order here is their clam chowder! It is thick, creamy and delicious with huge clams - hard to beat even by their swanky neighbors! I had my first bowl of clam chowder here as a teen and every year I come back for more! There is no seating here so I usually walk it up to the Edgartown dock and eat on the upper deck! There's also bench seating by the harbor or if you're up for a long walk perhaps a beach picnic at Edgartown light! Fast and fresh take out - or a great place to stop for a quick snack! Just don't be expecting cheap prices! At quarterdeck you pay market value for freshly caught and fried seafood! read more

How is it that I'm the first review of the quarterdeck??? The quarterdeck holds one of the most coveted locations on the entire island. Scenic views of the harbor and the quaint Chappy ferry. BUT, the restaurant loses stars with the pub style menu (mostly fried food), plastic chairs and usually overcrowded deck. So much potential..... (the 3 stars are mostly for the location, location, location...) read more

Nice take out place by the harbor. Decent enough clam chowder. Clam strips are pretty tasty, lightly breaded, quick fried, very nice. Fish and chips got 2 thumbs up. I had the fish sandwich, had a very large piece of fish sticking out of the bun. Large quantity, average tasting. read more

I try this place every year expecting it to get better. It's take out fried food. How hard can it be to get it right? Good fried food is crisp and not greasy. The food here is soggy and dripping in grease. This visit I had the fish sandwich and fries. Both were horrible. The fish batter was soggy and the bun was covered in grease. The fries were barely golden and were not crisp at all. It's clear the people that own this place don't care about quality. Spend a little more and eat at one of the many local restaurants that take pride in their output. You'll be glad you did. read more

While standing in line to order, we had plenty of time to read the menu board. When the annoyed woman behind the counter said she could take our order, my husband started to say "clam.....", she rudely cut him off and said they had no whole belly clams with such an attitude like we should've known better to ask. It would've been helpful to her, if she used a marker and wrote "OUT of whole belly clams" on a paper plate if she was so annoyed of people asking for them. Her attitude was so not necessary and was such a turn off to even want to order something else from the menu. I'm sure she's had her fill with working with us tourists and it showed! read more

I had dinner here with my kids. The lobster rolls are bite size, would need three to feel full and they are $18 each. They didn't even taste very good, not bad tasting, but lobster tastes great, this was far from great. The clam chowder my daughter had was milky looking water and had hardly any clams. Far from the broth chowder that was expected. We also had some fries. They must have been sitting around for a long time because they were between cool and Luke warm and had all congealed into one giant bland inedible mass. If I could rate this 0 stars I would. read more

This place was completely lacking in numerous of my scoring departments. Went there hoping to get some quick and easy food without having to sit down. The service was subpar... faced some serious tude when we asked for a cold water as opposed to warm water, as if that's such an outrageous request. My lobster roll was put in the bag upside down with half of it spilling out; not to mention it barely even tasted like lobster. Let it be said I've eaten a lobster roll at over 10 different places around cape cod in the past two weeks and this place was by far the worst. Giving the lobster roll a 4.1/10. The fries were horrible, they tasted like old old stale McDonald's fries. My sisters clam chowder tasted like milky water with salt and potato chunks (gross). Let it also be said over the past 5 years I've had clam chowder all across cape cod and the vineyard. Again, the worst. Only good thing about this place was getting to stand in the shade. 1.2/10 overall. read more

We stopped in to get some take out. Very, Very, Very disappointing. First we were given the wrong food, not the wrong order, half of the order was wrong. When we brought it back, they were pleasant, gave us the right food, but the clam strips were burnt beyond recognition. I've Never had a restaurant "burn" clam strips. It was AWFUL. "There is NO WAY the kitchen didn't see the condition of that order when they sent it out." They Knew they were giving us garbage and didn't care. We gave up trying and will never go back again. Appetite ruined we pitched the food, cut our losses and vowed to let every person we talked to from here forward to be warned not to go there. In this time when businesses are opening at limited capacity, one would think this restaurant would be taking excellent care to put out their best. Not so for this place. Good luck to you Quarterdeck. read more

Pricing is good but food quality is sub par or par at best. The town doesn't require masks outside but upon approaching the counter I was yelled at with a "PLEASE PUT A MASK ON SIR". "I thought they don't require mask outside" was my reply, as I was met back with a snappy "no mask no service". They advertise their fried shrimp with chipotle mayo and we're completely out. They didn't even have cocktail sauce offered on the side with any of their stuff... My parents have taken me to this place I'm recent years where it was better. Sucks now. read more

I based a lot of my trip around this article, http://www.businessinsider.com/what-to-eat-on-marthas-vineyard-2013-7. I was very excited to try the lobster fritters. The picture from the article made the fritters looked uber delectable and oh-em-gee, $7 for THREE fritters!? I'm so on top of that. My girlfriends and I made our way on over to Edgartown to the Quarterdeck at around 4 pm. Unbeknownst to us, It's not a sit-down restaurant. It's more of a snack stand. I can dig that. There was a small crowd there already. Fortunately, most of them were just waiting on their orders. The menu features an array of fried goodies. It has affordable options, which is nice. The lobster fritters option is not listed on the board menu, it's on a small yellow menu off to the side on the bottom right of the board. After waiting in line to make our order, we waited for about 20 minutes for our food. We were getting quite anxious (getting hangry) as everyone else's orders got picked up except for ours. The cashier apologized and told us the fritters take longer to prepare. Finally, we got our fritters. They were more doughy and fishy. Nonetheless, they were fried, fresh, and hot, which made it pretty satiating. We were considering the corn dogs, which the article also recommended. However, after we finished the lobster fritters, we decided to hold off the corndogs for another time. read more
