Can't be thankful enough that these guys came to my rescue. Long story short, I had to have my patio torn down and stairs installed as it was not up to code and inspection was going to happen in 2 weeks to verify this was done. One of my family-friend contractors was unresponsive despite coming by to do an inspection. So, I had to branch out and get a third party contractor to do this job which had been stressing me out as it was my first time attempting to get contract work done on my own. EcoStar came to my rescue, specifically John and his peer Michael. They came by literally the next day after we spoke on the phone, scoped out the work that needed to be done, gave me a quote, and, by literally the day after. the patio was torn down and some nice new wood stairs were installed. All within a matter of 2-3 days. That being said I do have some minor gripes. Major one being the price for the work that was done. Now I was quoted $4200 for this job: tearing down of the patio, installing new redwood stairs, and repaneling the underside of the home where the patio used to be. I would say this is definitely on the pricier side for what was done. Not to say the job was bad, far from it, but to not even add some railing to the steps for safety measures, maybe clean the cement to make it look nicer, and/or paint the steps to make them blend into the house would be great. For reference, other contractors quoted me around $3000 or more for this work while offering me some other higher quality options for the stairs. That is just my personal experience however. This company very much believes in building a relationship with the customer and scamming their customer is probably the last thing on their mind. 4/5 for EcoStar, can't go wrong with these guys and I would definitely consider them in the future for landscaping ideas. read more

Long overdue review but just want to say Johnny Israeli is a damn good project manager. Ecostar, pay this man now!!! Accountability, Ownership and Responsibility is what was defined when these guys did work for my neighbor and I. With this company being new and not having that many reviews i will share my experience for fellow yelpers. A month ago my neighbor (Hi Karen) had hired these guys to do some work for her house. After completion of her project, I was presented with an opportunity to redo the fence which my neighbor and I share. Our fence was really old, was leaning on it's last limb, and it was that time for it to have it redone. Johnny had approached me and had given an idea of how the fence will look like along with a ballpark price. I can visually picture the look of the fence in my head but without an actual picture nor sketch it was hard for me to determine how it will look. I had also mentioned my requests as well which Johnny had also noted along with my share of the price. When it came close to having the project started, the estimate was a bit higher than what was stated but due to inflation which we cannot control the price of wood i decided to proceed with my share on the project. There was lots of paperwork that needed to be signed (yes these guys are legit) prior to getting the job started. Prior to the demolition, Johnny had started a group chat along with my neighbor and I for documentation and communication. When it came to building the fence there was a hiccup and some eyebrows were raised from my neighbor and i when the contractors started the frame work and the lining of the boards. My neighbor had brought it up to Johnny. Johnny took ownership and assured us that it will be fixed. He definitely delivered on this one. At the end of the day, the fence looks nice, added a curb appeal to my neighbor and i's yard, and was worth it in my opinion. Not only did they build a 7 ft tall fence but they also stained it as well which is a definite plus. They did not leave it untreated. Now for yelpers that decide to go with this company, they are good, but whoever is the project manager for your build, ask several questions, be descriptive, tell them what you are wanting, and show examples. Not everyone has an eye for detail, or you can always request for Johnny who gets it done the right way. read more

Ecostar replaced my roof. The whole project was completed quickly in less than 2 weeks before the winter storms begin to roll in. They worked quickly and flew through every stage of the project (roof demo, redeck, and shingle the roof). What's great about their work is that their roof quote + permit fees is the max that I paid for the project. They handled all the small things like replacing rotten wood and 3 layers of shingles. An absolute pleasure working with Omri! Remodels can be intimidating especially for a first time home buyer. Throughout the entire process, Omri was transparent, responsive, and demonstrated immense technical knowledge for my untraditional loft's remodel. I felt confident throughout the entire process. The team was meticulous and was precise throughout the process, and was careful to gain my buy-in and approval for major decisions. I have to acknowledge the incredible solutions Omri provided for the bathroom: taking pipes that were initially covered up by plywood, and embedding them into the wall opened up the bathroom walkway space. Additionally, we expanded the bathroom to occupy non-functional closet space to make room for a washer/dryer tower space that's out of sight. On top of this Omri has an incredible eye for design. Not only was the work functional given the difficult constraints, but it was also aesthetically beautiful and true to my personality. Will be sharing pictures in this review once I have moved in! I figured that it would be no harm. Since then EcoStar had called repeatedly even though I tell them each time that I am not interested and to stop calling. I engaged with Dan for a quote and he ended up PM'g the tiny project I had to reset some pavers around the boarder in the back patio and power wash the entire space. I didn't have him do more, as I still wanted to say "I did some of the work," but his team did the heavy lifting. He made me feel like I had a major project. His team squeezed me in between tasks of a large project near by and was also able to accommodate an unexpected schedule change for us. The back looks great and I'm ready to start entertaining again! I was looking for someone to paint my house. In my search, I also needed my roof done. I chose EcoStar they had a lower price, and I really connected with my project manager, Matt. He was awesome as a manager he kept me updated with everything going on and sent me photos of the work as it progressed. We went shopping together for paint. He made the process fun. They did what they said they were going to do in the scope of work. If I had any concerns, Matt would come right over and address them to put my mind at ease. Leaving a one star since I can't leave zero. I set up an appointment with these guys for 10-11 today, confirmed days ago, they call me again this morning to confirm once more and when I do confirm they tell me there is no guarantee that they can get someone out there by 11. I had taken time off work to meet with them and waiting at the property for nobody to show up. When they called me around 11, they told me "our meeting before you is going well, so we don't know what time we will be able to get to you." This is completely unprofessional, what does "it's going well" even mean or have to do with my already scheduled appointment? This isn't a dating gameshow. The girls that answered the phone were totally useless and unable to give me any helpful information. They were unprofessional in many ways, one was not being upfront with the extra costs for changes. Another time, the worker and sales rep. taking 2 weeks off and not telling us. Not willing to come on a Saturday to pick up worker food trash after animals spewed it all over the driveway. I interviewed this company when trying to find painters and, quite frankly, was shocked to find myself in a situation that could have gone viral if I had recorded it. One of the funniest moments was when their representative told me that I could get the best price possible if I would sign a contract that day. He knew I had other companies lined up to interview beside Ecostar. When I called to schedule a time for my home to be looked at so an estimate would be possible I was told they needed both spouses so we could receive 25% off of the total price, only available if both of us could meet. That sounds really odd for a mere estimate on a paint job. In addition, the company representative told me there was more wood rot than actually was on my house. The quote I ended up getting was significantly more than the other companies I interviewed. Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg I am sharing of the underhanded tactics that were thrown my way. This is a large company. Perhaps there are only a few bad actors. From the beginning the project manager, Nick was very accommodating throughout the whole project of replacing old siding which had dry rot and mold. Nick made sure that the project was always going according to plan and went above and beyond on the removal of the mold. If I had questions, Nick was always available. The crew was always on time and professional. I have to give a shout out to the painters who did an excellent job on the siding and a small job inside. Horrible. I wanted popcorn ceiling removed in 2 rooms, new kitchen counter, recessed lighting, replace marble floor in kitchen and replace with hardwood flooring to match living room. I had to get the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) involved to make EcoStar honor the contract. If you use EcoStar be sure to take plenty of pictures before, during, and after project is complete. They painted a room that was not supposed to be painted and had to repaint. They scratched up my beautiful hardwood floor in the process. There's so much more to report about their unprofessionalism. They talked a good game in the beginning. The project manager was too busy in the morning looking at his watch so he could hurry to other job sites that he didn't respond to my concerns properly. We have a unique tandem-style garage. The back half had originally been an outdoor patio with a corrogated aluminum and fiberglass roof. A prior owner had merged this patio with the single garage to make it all one enclosed space. Over time this roof was in terrible shape. We wanted this to be a safe and dry space so that we could store things without them getting saturated. Matt, our project manage explained that the back structure would need to be strengthed to accommodate a solid water-proof roof. A major undertaking. All the crew members on this project were polite, friendly and professional. Work was done efficiently and was completed ahead of schedule! They did a really nice job with the roof. They completed the roof in about a day and a half. I was approved for the loan pretty quick as well. The guy told me the roof was 20,000 with no interest.The finance company says otherwise, they want 12%. That's damn near 47,000 for a roof. I also have mold in my bathroom, I told them and was charged $640 for a 5 minute mold test (just for them to look at it). I know I have mold, I didn't need to pay $640 for them to tell me that. I thought they were going to come in and spray some stuff in the wall to get rid of the mold for $640. It was clearly a miscommunication and he knew that, asshole. Oh yea and the $640 is separate and nonrefundable, he told me that was for city fees and permit fees, thats bs. He basically just took my money. Then they have the nerve to keep calling asking me how the service is, fuck you. I might feel a little better if they send me $640 back but I'm going to leave it in God's hands. He can handle it better than me. Fuck Ecostar and Matt Shalom, I would give 0 stars if I could, I should've did more research now I'm stuck with this high ass loan, thanks for putting me in more debt. Jonnie is incredible to work with - he is super responsive and a great communicator which is so much more than most contractors I've worked with. He's also very fast at initiating the work and offers to handle the complete job from permits through to completion. He and his team are super dedicated to making the results great too.
