Alex and Norma did a fantastic job repainting our kitchen cabinets. We were happy with the beautiful finish of our cabinets, which originally had lots of wear-and-tear. They sanded and primed the cabinets, then added several layers of new blue paint. Everything looked very even and there was no stray paint in the rest of our kitchen. My only quibble is that the job went 3 days over schedule, which is not great for a 4-day job. I would budget in extra time if you are thinking of hiring them, but overall would still recommend Pro Painting. read more

Very impressed with Alex's work! He was able to get us scheduled quickly and get the job done before a major holiday. Alex is knowledgeable and was able to recommend higher quality paint that can stand up to two toddlers. He painted a couple of accent walls and repainted two high traffic walls for us while matching the existing color perfectly. The quality of his work is great and we couldn't be happier with the results! read more

Highly recommend Alex! He did a great job painting the inside of the house I am renting. He put together a professional contract for the work and provided a quote within the day of asking. He was also able to schedule the work very last minute and performed the scope within 2 days. Overall it was a great experience, and I am very satisfied with the quality of work and how easy it was to communicate with him. read more

Writing this review for my husband. He's a real estate agent, and he needed a painter for a house he was selling in Oakland. His usual painting vendor wasn't available so he decided to find someone via Yelp. He usually finds vendors via word of mouth with clients or other agents. So, he was extremely skeptical to use a painter only known from Yelp. Due to the number and highly rated reviews, he gave Alex a try. Alex did an exceptional job and my husband would highly recommend Alex. Here are the points he wanted me to stress. 1: Quality of the bid. Alex was not the cheapest of the bids. What impressed my husband was the quality and detail of the bid he provided. While other vendors provided a bid on a scrap of paper, Alex used an app on his phone that generated a very detailed bid that specified each aspect of the job. Very helpful so there is no confusion. 2: Quality of Work: Alex's work was exceptional. The paint job was professional and top notch. He did a great job patching the areas that needed it. Then he applied a nice, smooth coat of paint. His lines were straight, and made sure that there were no thin areas. 3: Promptness: Alex was always on time to the site. He was given a strict deadline as to when the job needed to be done. He stuck to that deadline. Alex was at the job everyday, even on the weekends. Again, this is big. 4: Flexibility: There were several times my husband, or the stager, made changes to the original job. Alex never made a fuss, and always completed the changes. My husband was more than pleased with Alex's work and will absolutely use him again. If you're looking for a painting company don't be afraid to use Pro Painting Cali. read more

He has done a really amazing job for my place. A real expert in painting. I also asked him to do more small works that I can think of. He only charged for a very competitive price compared with others. Very easy to communicate with. Nice person! I would definitely recommend him to my friends. read more

Wish I could comment on the work, but owner did not get back with me for an estimate. A date/time was set up, but owner had to cancel. No problem... New date/time was set up. No show No call No text Glad to see others had successful projects as mine did not get an estimate. read more

I hired Alex at Pro Painting Cali to patch & paint a wall several years ago. His attention to detail was exceptional, so when my wife and I bought a new house, he's the guy I called to paint all of it. It took a little longer than expected, but Alex was super accommodating and handled all of our crazy requests: different-colored accent walls, painted closed doors, etc. The place looks fantastic, the price was more than reasonable, and we're very very happy with the results. Every time we asked for something, Alex said yes. He's the best! read more

Review for communication- Exchanged a few messages with Alejandro and he first asked for a 5 pm meeting. Working in Marin County and getting home to the East Bay is trouble, so I sent him a message asking to meet at 5:30. Never heard back, the time probably didn't work- No biggie. We then attempted another meeting, this time on a Saturday at noon. He then asked not too long after to change the meeting to 11 a.m. Perfectly fine. 11:00 a.m. comes, nothing. 11:15, still nothing. Give him a call, no answer. I understand contractors are often times busy, things get pushed back. Being a working professional with a family, often times the weekends are absolutely the very little free time we have. We chose to give that time to Alejandro and Pro Painting Cali. Not showing up to a scheduled appointment nor having the common courtesy to pick up the phone to call us if you have zero plans on following through with an appointment is severely disappointing. read more

I was really impressed with the work done in my kitchen. It was a super professional job done at a fair and reasonable price. The team went above and beyond and reinstalled my cabinets better than before. I'd rehire them in a second! read more

I looked on yelp for a good handyman/painter for my mom who is redoing her whole house and I found Alex. We made an appointment and he showed up on time and took notes and photos. He and his crew are professional and did stellar work on my mom's house. His bid was reasonable and there were no hidden costs. My mom was so happy with the work performed and would recommend Alex and his crew to anyone looking for a handyman or painter. They did everything from painting, to electrical, to removing wall paper. In one word "Fantastic" read more

Alex and his team are VERY good at what they do. Alex is thorough, attentive pays very good attention to detail and is easy to work with. Him and his team did a 3 room paint job for us for a competitive price and the work was flawless. I would definitely recommend him. He'll want to do a walkthrough - and this is recommended because he takes all the necessary measurements and careful notes about exactly what you want. read more

I could not be happier with Alex and the team! The turnaround was incredibly fast and the quality of the job was top notch. My new home now really feels like home. I would definitely recommend this team for your painting needs. I plan referring my condo association to use Pro Painting Cali for the common space as well. I am glad to have found such a great service. read more

It has been a couple of months since Alex's team were here. I look around every day and admire their work. It was a pleasure to work with Alex from the very first phone call. He came out immediately, generated an estimate in a timely fashion, and his team reflected his efficiency. They prepped thoroughly, did the minor repairs that were required, and at the end of the job I felt as if we were living in a new condo. I plan to use them again when we decide to paint the rest of the house. The price was fair, the work outstanding, and they made the entire experience as pleasant as painting can be. I can completely recommend Pro Painting Cali. read more

We used Alex to re-paint our condo as we moved out. Alex and his staff did a great job - they were prompt, responsible, detail oriented, and efficient. In fact although I hired him for painting, Alex was more than happy to take care of a bunch of other small household repair tasks (door stoppers, repairing wall damage, etc). I was really quite impressed with the quality and cost of their work. It's such a nerve-wracking experience to hire small household contractors because you never know what quality or reliability you're going to get, so it was really nice to find a contractor who I can trust to do great work for our future needs. read more

Alex and his crew were meticulous, professional and reasonable priced. They even did some "odd jobs" that surfaced as they painted our condo. They were awesome! Thanks! read more

Excellent and timely job, especially for the price. I have zero complaints about the quality of their painting, and they even did some carpentry work on the side to take care of my dry rot issues. I would not have been able to get my house painted by the arrival of the rains this fall if not for these guys. Would contract with them again. The one thing I would say to keep in mind when doing business with Pro Painting Cali is to keep actively communicating with them about when they plan to work. When we hired them, they let us know about the first weekend that they would need to be around and would need access to the interior (for windowsill painting), but not the second one. It was lucky for everyone that we weren't out on vacation that day. read more

Alex and his team are AMAZING! I am very picky and have high standards, and his men exceeded my expectations. They showed up ON TIME, and did EXCELLENT work, in a very SHORT amount of time. The pricing was definitely reasonable, especially considering the quality work they did. I needed the work done on 1 certain day, and they got it done. As they were working on the house (interior paint, baseboard painting, installing closet doors, electrical work, & outdoor stucco repair), new things popped up (botched work from other contractors), and they fixed it in no time. Alex and his team are my GO TO handymen from this point forward. No question about it. You cannot go wrong here, PROMISE. Oh, and my realtor was so impressed, she is going to use Alex for all her clients. :) read more

Alex Santana and team were wonderful. We had been calling companies around the clock for weeks until we found Alex. He was patient, had a strong attention to detail and made sure we were happy in the end. Other painters wouldn't even return my phone calls - Alex was available at any time via phone, email or text. He even met us on site I know he's busy and our job was small - but he made it happen for us. If something came up, he was responsive. Thank you Alex and team. read more

I'm thoroughly impressed by Alex and his team. They are highly professional and really good in what they do. I found him through Yelp and messaged Alex for a quote. He was very quick to respond and was very professional through our messages. When we met in person, he had his tablet ready and walked me through the process and had honest feedback on what him and his team will do to our building. I loved all of the recommendations he had for me. The end result was better than I expected! Our neighbor is the police department and they have brought to my attention how beautiful the paint job was and they appreciated how a paint job could actually transformed our corner block! Needless to say, I recommend Alex and his team in a heartbeat! You will NOT be disappointed. read more

Alex was very quick in his response to my bid request, and we set an appointment for last Friday morning at 9am. He texted me on Friday exactly at 9am, asking to push the appointment out to 4pm, and I agreed. He did not show up to our 4pm appointment, did not respond to the Yelp message or text I sent him inquiring of his whereabouts, and four days later I have received zero response from this company. I am very disappointed. read more

Alex is great to work with and very skilled. I strongly recommend him for any home of office project; Alex takes real pride in his work and is very skilled. He approaches jobs in a very professional way and gets the job done right. Alex has done several projects for me; he has painted my kitchen, installed sliding doors, put together Ikea furniture, hung curtains and refinished antique furniture. All the projects he worked on were done with skill and a real attention to detail. I was very happy with the job he did with all of these projects. Alex also works very quickly and efficiently and comes prepared to the job site with all the right tools ready which also saves a lot of time. read more

Sadly, I cannot give a good review. We had Alex over to look at the house and give us a bid. He acted very professionally, so we felt he was the one to do the job. A very good first impression. However, when we received the electronic proposal, there were errors and omissions. I contacted Alex a number of times by email and phone and asked to discuss issues, and never got a response. The proposal expired, so I contacted him again, complained that I had not heard back. I was aggravated, so I mentioned that if I continued to not hear back, I would leave a negative feedback (here) for his unprofessional behavior of not returning calls. He finally returned a call, left a message, and was angry and confusing in his message. He talked about how the price would go up, but would honor the first proposal (except it was wrong) as is. Except that it still had errors and omissions. He left us another voice message a day or so later, was super angry, started YELLING about how professional he was (yes, the irony was not missed), claimed I was trying to blackmail him with a bad review, and told us he would not do the job now. Basically stormed off because I questioned his proposal and his lack of returning calls, not to mention yelling at a customer, which was anything but professional. It is not blackmail, it is the truth. Sorry Alex, I am sure you do not think you deserve this, but you treated us very poorly, acted unprofessionally, and others should know what might happen if they disagree with or question you. ADDED IN COMMENT IN RESPONSE TO ALEX'S RESPONSE BELOW: He is wrong again: I have phone records to show when I made calls to him that were not answered. Maybe he has problems with VM? I have no idea and do not care. Calls were not returned. The errors in the proposal did include the laundry room as he mentioned, but it is the smallest room in the house, but quoted higher than others. And this room has "half walls", the bottom half concrete does not need painting. I asked for clarification on the rate for that room, a fair question, since I did not understand his quote. Other errors included not specifying different paint colors and finishes in several rooms as discussed during the walk through. Everything was listed in one color and finish (except for trim.) Is Alex saying I do not have the right to question his proposal and point out errors? Really? And he wants to continue to argue it here? REALLY? As for his "blackmail" comment, it was left a voicemail message on my phone (which I belive I still have.) He is right, it was in a voice message. Thisis from his email: "I find VERY bad business the way you threat me with posting a negative review to force me or make me do something that you want your way, for that reason I choose not to do any work for you." Let's be clear here, I am paying for a job that yes, I want done my way. My way here, was having the proposal corrected and explained. When he failed to respond to the corrections, I did say I would post a negative review if he continued to ignore my calls and emails. That was his answer. NOT PROFESSIONAL! I stand by my review. I have used dozens of contractors and have never been treated like this before. I am sure he is fine when not questioned, but even his arguing here shows what happens when you disagree with him. He is continuing to argue about how professional and right he is, again, which is not professional at all. read more

We recently purchased a condo in Oakland and it needed some work before we could move in. We found Alex and ProPainting Cali on Yelp and read the many glowing reviews. It was a great find. Alex and Javier provided impeccable service and achieved very high quality results. They treated this project as if it was their own new home they were renovating. Javier and the rest of the team worked through weekends to get the job done in time for us to move in. Alex and Javier will be the first people we call when we are ready to do additional renovations and my partner and I would recommend them highly and enthusiastically. Call them, you won't regret it. read more

I can't sing enough praise for Alex and his team. I used Alex to paint the interior of my house, do some minor plumbing repair, install hardwood floors in my kitchen and family room and renovate the family room (including knocking out shelves, painting, etc), Not only is Alex professional but he is kind, honest and helpful -- but he is also extremely creative with coming up with cost effective solutions. I completely trust Alex and know he has my best interest at heart and will use him again and again. read more

Working with the company was truly a pleasure; they are helpful, professional, on time with everything they promise, and attentive to detail. Alex and Hugo who manage the company monitor the painting and problem solve rapidly any difficulties; the finished product is neat, well done and they use quality products. They did a complicated job of many colors without drips or running the colors into each other. The final product has gotten raves from friends and my general contractor as well. Also, totally trustworthy and reasonable rates. I already hired them again for another job. read more

We first used Pro Painting Cali to paint both our kids' bedrooms when we moved into our new home back in July. We were really impressed with the paint job so we recently had them come back to paint our kitchen/dining room and part of our family room. As usual, their service was prompt and courteous and their quality was awesome. Their prices are pretty reasonable as well, in my opinion. They always clean up after themselves and I particularly appreciate how quickly they're able to fit us in their schedules. We'll definitely be using these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to have some painting done. read more

Alex and one of his painters, Mario, touched up my condo before my new tenant moved in. I had 3 painters come over for an estimate. One never showed up and one was really expensive (although also highly rated on Yelp). Alex's estimate was very reasonable and thorough. Mario did a wonderful job with my place and went out of his way to help me out, doing some handyman, non-painter tasks that I still needed to get done to get the place ready. I was really pleased with the results and would definitely hire them again if/when my place needs more work over the years. read more

I had a tricky handyman/painting challenge. One of our outside doors gets lots of sun and is painted black. For a hollow core door 10 years in the sun was too much. Replacing it with a solid wood door without replacing the frame is something most craftsman would pass up. Alex knew just what to do. He completed the project on time and on budget which included repainting all the trim in the front of the house. he is responsive, professional and I trust him. Found Alex on Yelp - he and his crew are top-notch. They came immediately, handled not only a tricky, complicated fence situation, but also did a great job with our gutters. Pro Painting painted the exterior of my house in Piedmont. I am giving them a solid recommendation--they did everything well. I had nasty mildew on my bathroom ceiling and walls. Alex gave me a through written proposal on scrubbing the mildew, applying new primer, and repainting the bathroom with a moisture-resistant, mold retarding paint. We also had Alex and his crew sand the wood window and door trims, which had some drip marks and blotting. The job was done on time and the work was magnificent. Alex's bid came in lower and was more thorough in its scope, i.e. he explained the need to scrub the walls and ceiling twice with a bleach before applying two coats of primer. I wouldn't hesitate to use Pro Painting Cali again. They are excellent! read more

Alex's team was professional and respectful of our home. We needed to get a few walls painted upstairs, and they did a great job matching the paint. They also were done a few hours ahead of schedule. After the crew left, my wife and I noticed that there were a few things that needed to be touched up. Alex had one of his guys out the next weekend to take care of the job. No extra charge. I would recommend Alex and his crew without hesitation as they do excellent work for a fair price. read more

I own a two level home on a steep slope in Oakland. Based on the great yelp reviews, I contracted with Pro Painting Cali to paint my house. I could not be happier with my choice.
