Astacio and his crew were fantastic. We had our exterior and interior of our house painted within a few months of each other. Astacio is very responsive, answered questions and his crew were always on time and at the end of the day, they cleaned up so we could still use the house. Not only did they do painting, on the exterior of the house, they fixed replaced trim that had dry rot, replaced light fixtures and our door bell. For the interior of the house, they replaced all the interior doors and outlet and light figures. I would highly recommend Western Painting. read more

An exceptional job was done replacing my large deck, dock & arbor, along with the glass at the front & walking down to my dock. The crew were excellent, friendly, polite & always answered any questions that my husband or I had. They put everything back on the deck, including furniture & multiple vases, pots and plants as I directed. I would recommend Western Painting & Improvement to anyone without hesitation. The owner Astascio was outstanding in letting us know how they were coming along and the crew worked extremely well with each other!!!! read more

Astacio and his team painted the inside of our home, including ceilings that are 25' tall. He was always responsive and timely and finished the job in 2 days, one day sooner than scheduled. We were out of town when they were working and Astacio was a given a key to the house. Very trustworthy. There were some paint spots left on the rug and one of the light canisters needed some touch up. He responded right away and came the next day to fix everything. We will definitely be calling on Astacio and his team for any painting in the future. read more

We'd heard great things about Astacio and his team, and after a lot of back and forth, we were very excited they could fit our interior repainting job in the week before we moved into our new house. Astacio and his crew were very nice to work with, but the quality of the job left a lot to be desired. They didn't bother to remove the smoke detectors, so there are big splotches of unpainted surface in each room (see photo). We've since tried to fix this ourselves, but for a $4,000 job, I'd expected better. They also told us they could get the whole job--with two coats--done in one day. However, looking at it now, I think we wish they had take the extra time. read more

Our exterior house painting included one complete side of dry rot siding replacement. The proposal for the job was almost a year ago before work started and the delays were due to Covid conditions affecting many areas, and our own weather conditions, etc. The recommended siding boards were with shingle-shake design and very attractive. Once we got a date for the job to begin, Astacio and his very efficient work crew methodically proceeded. The carpentry was precise, the caulkers and painters were careful with spills and splashes and to tape where necessary. It was refreshing to see a group of people working so well together. Sherwin Williams paint was contracted but when time came to paint, there was no supply whatsoever. A substitute with another brand was seeked out and used. Another unpleasant discovery of dry rot under the edge of eaves area needed repair, also affecting the existing roof shingles and needed to be replaced. We had previously had a roof inspection done by a credible roofing company and this was unfortunately not detected. All these extra happenings which Astacio undertook and expeditiously resolved, and even found the shingles to match the old which was not a simple task. Everything was taken care of in the course of the work schedule and the job got completed, and we felt the extra cost was within reason. Our very good rating for Astacio and the company for our job is based on our recent completion and satisfaction of our job well done. Astacio has demonstrated professionalism, honesty, integrity and straight forwardness in communication, a problem solver with the customer's interest in mind! He even changed-out our 4 sets of our newly- purchased outdoor lightings! Thank you Astacio! read more

We recently had a great experience working with Astacio and his crew. Western was recommended to us by our friends. Judging by the quality of the work on their homes we felt good about contracting with them. They are very professional, efficient and thorough. We were impressed. They showed up promptly every day, kept us informed of each days work as well as any issues, and made great progress each day. The quality of their work is top notch. Down to the last detail. Very meticulous. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Western Painting. Great crew. Astacio is fantastic. Would use their services again. read more

We are extremely happy with our choice of Astacio and Western Painting and Improvement with their recent completion of our exterior home paint job and the total reconstruction of our rear deck due to dry rot. The work crew was totally professional and meticulous in the quality of their work, working very efficiently and even completing their job ahead of schedule! The quality of the work done on the deck reconstruction would put the original builder to SHAME....when I say it looks "a MILLION times better than new", I really mean a BILLION times...!!! Astacio's experience throughout Harbor Bay and being familiar with our strict HOA guidelines, in itself, is a PLUS that you cannot overlook when you contract with them. I can only add, they are worth every dollar spent, as you might find cheaper, you won't find BETTER...!!! read more

10 Stars! I have had my home painted by other companies, but have never experienced this level of professionalism. Much of my siding was dry rotted including the entire chimney and deck do to improper paint jobs in the past. Astacio and his awesome crew took the job on. Any piece of wood that showed signs of rot were replaced. The entire 2nd story deck including large timbers were replaced. No fillers for these guys! There are clues that you have the best as you watch the work progress. They not only pressure washed the exterior, but scraped the entire structure. They didn't paint around light fixtures, they removed them. The next step was caulk. Every crack, and every gap in trim boards had been filled. No previous painter had ever done this to my home. Finally, 2 coats of paint on everything. They wrapped up the job by staying an extra day to refinish my doors. I would without hesitation recommend Astacio and his hard working crew to anyone wanting only the best! I know my home will withstand the elements for years longer than in the past. Thank you Astacio and his magnificent crew! read more

We were really happy with the paint job and the many siding repairs they made. They were prompt, careful, asked questions, and did a great job. They book up, so call as soon as you know you want to paint. Would definitely hire them for any painting needs in the future. read more

Astacio and his crew just finished painting all of our interior cabinets and doors and installed/painted new baseboards in my house. Western Painting is by far the most professional of any contractor we have worked with in the past twenty years. The crew arrived at 8:00 every morning and stayed until 5:00. They thoroughly prepped and primed all surfaces before painting and protected my furniture/flooring with plastic sheets. They cleaned up their supplies and left my home tidy before they left every evening. The new paint looks amazing! Astacio is extremely attentive to detail and spent a lot of time trying to find the appropriate hinges to work with my old cabinets. He also gave me good advice on selecting new hardware for my cabinets. He quickly corrected any small detail his crew may have overlooked. He is a problem solver and wants his clients to be happy with his work. His crew is professional and hard-working and I felt comfortable having them in my house all day. I am so impressed with his work that I am hiring him to repair dry rot and paint the exterior of our house in the spring. I highly recommend Western Painting and would give them 10 stars if I could! read more

We chose Western Painting in Alameda and would definitely use them again in the future. I chose them based on receiving the Nextdoor community recommendation award winner. Astacio came out for the in person estimate the day after I contacted him for an estimate. (Note: he took over the company a few years ago after being the lead supervisor for many years.). His estimate was competitive but definitely not the cheapest. His company addressed extensive dry rot on the exterior of my house. Thankfully, they directly deal with these repairs on their own and do not have to hire out a contractor. Astacio brought other areas of the house that needed dry rot repair and was careful not to overcharge. They re-painted the exterior of my house and did a tremendous job. One coat of prime and 2 coats of finishing paint. My house is in the Harbor bay HOA community and thankfully, Astacio is very knowledgeable of the HOA's procedures. Would definitely use them again in the future! read more

There is simply no finer outfit for painting and structural woodworking services. Hire them!!! read more

I just moved, and after getting a few quotes decided to go with Astacio and his crew to paint the interior of my 1920's Oakland home. They did an excellent job painting - there was a ton of trim, and some plaster repair - and it really looks fantastic! I would definitely recommend. read more

Astacio and his crew are excellent and great to work with. I would give them 10 stars if possible and would recommend them for painting and home improvements. I definitely will call them again for future work. Astacio is a great contractor, really knows his stuff, easy to work with, patient, makes no pressure recommendations, trustworthy, reliable, and provides high quality work. We hired Western Painting for repairing major exterior dry rot, painting, building a new deck and balcony. They were every efficient, neat, excellent carpentry and painting. Most of the house was repaired do due dry rot and not painting in a long time. We basically have a new house from the outside perspective. We also replaced our redwood deck and arbor; the quality is so much better than the original. They did an amazing job and we are so happy with their work! read more

We own a 1901 Victorian with an interior that desperately need to be painted. Some areas hadn't been painted in over 25 years and others had brand new drywall. If it had a wall I wanted it painted. Western Painting was a dream to work with. It took them five days to move the big furniture out of the way, prep, paint and put everything back where it was and even put our cable connection back together. And reliable? They said they would be her at 8am and each morning at 8 sharp they were knocking on the door Amazing our place looks amazing. It was worth every penny and more. In fact the kitchen looks so great we're going to have them paint the cabinets too They also painted outside around some windows we'd had installed. Super job You could not do better than Western Painting. read more

We just had our house painted. We're extremely happy with their work and work ethics and highly recommend them. They scheduled us for the second week of November and showed up early on Monday, Nov. 6. The work was supposed to take two to three weeks, and everything was completed on time and on schedule. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was! We've had several days of rain which threw a wrench into the schedule, and I was really worried that it would delay the progress. But Astacio (the owner) had his crew worked on Saturday to take advantage of a sunny day and put in some really long hours on the other days to make up for the time, which really impressed me. During the course of the work, Astacio always informed us of what's planned for the day so there were no surprises. He also worked alongside his crew to ensure everything's in tip top shape. There were some detail work which really needed careful painting by hand on the frieze in the front of the house. It looks fabulous and really highlighted the character of the house. Below is a picture of the frieze. They've done a really good job prepping the house, painting it, and cleaning up afterwards. I've recommended Western Painting to my neighbors. They've seen the work in progress and were very impressed with everything - from communicating with us to keeping to the schedule - these guys are REAL PROFESSIONALS! After seeing their work, my neighbors hired Western for their paint job. read more

Astacio and his crew are professional, meticulous, masters of their craft. They replaced the rotting and worn board-and-batten siding on my home in Alameda with clear cedar planks, returning the exterior of my 1964-era house to its original appearance and condition before painting the exterior with precision and to my exact specifications. Well done -- and worth the price! read more

Astacio and his team literally just finished painting our home today. We had a lot of dry rot that needed repairing as well. I got several quotes and ended up going with Western. The project began on Monday promptly at 8 am, and they finished the job on Saturday at 5 pm. The crew were efficient and professional and did not cut any corners (a painful lesson I learned from the last company who painted our house and did really shoddy work.) I am very pleased with the quality of work that was done and our house looks AMAZING! I would definitely work with Astacio again and recommend him 100%!! read more

We recently had Western Painting & Improvements paint the exterior of our home. Astacio and his crew did a fantastic job. From the initial bid to the completion of the project there was good communication. Astacio provided a complete and accurate bid. His crew showed up on time everyday. They were professional and responsive to our needs. The house looks awesome. We highly recommend this company. read more

The owner of the business would purchase materials without consulting homeowners which made for very difficult decisions about whether to continue the project. The owner of the business does not know to properly prepare homeowners for unforeseen costs. When hired to paint the house, the touch up work was very poor and lacked attention to detail which required multiple revisions to get house to an acceptable manner until we paint the house again this summer of 2020. Further, the lights and doorbell where hung crooked when the project was completed. I would not recommend and am happy to share pictures of the poor work done by this business. read more

My husband and I were very pleased with the work Western Painting did on our house. From our initial contact with Astacio Martinez, the owner of the company, to the daily work his crew did on our house, the entire process was efficient and professional, and the quality of their work was outstanding. Astacio quoted us a reasonable price for the work and was patient with me when I wanted to make some last minute changes. His crew showed up on time every day and cleaned up after themselves every evening. Their prep work was meticulous. I was a little nervous our cats would escape during the project but the crew was careful about keeping windows and doors open only wide enough to do their work. These are guys who are proud of their craft and I would not hesitate to hire them again. read more

I have used this company twice now and would highly recommend them. Astacio came out both times within a day of a phone call, gave me a very reasonable estimate and completed the job on time. We were very pleased with the fine work done on our interior woodwork. Before we bought the house a botched paint job had made a mess of the doors and frames. The two very professional painters did all the right things to make them look like new again, with minimal disruption. The price was very fair and we would use Western Painting again. read more
