Astacio is very responsive, answered questions and his crew were always on time and at the end of the day, they cleaned up so we could still use the house. Not only did they do painting, on the exterior of the house, they fixed replaced trim that had dry rot, replaced light fixtures and our door bell. An exceptional job was done replacing my large deck, dock & arbor, along with the glass at the front & walking down to my dock. Astacio and his team painted the inside of our home, including ceilings that are 25' tall. He was always responsive and timely and finished the job in 2 days, one day sooner than scheduled. We were out of town when they were working and Astacio was a given a key to the house. Very trustworthy. There were some paint spots left on the rug and one of the light canisters needed some touch up. He responded right away and came the next day to fix everything. We'd heard great things about Astacio and his team, and after a lot of back and forth, we were very excited they could fit our interior repainting job in the week before we moved into our new house. Astacio and his crew were very nice to work with, but the quality of the job left a lot to be desired. They didn't bother to remove the smoke detectors, so there are big splotches of unpainted surface in each room (see photo). We've since tried to fix this ourselves, but for a $4,000 job, I'd expected better. They also told us they could get the whole job--with two coats--done in one day. However, looking at it now, I think we wish they had take the extra time. read more

Our exterior house painting included one complete side of dry rot siding replacement. The proposal for the job was almost a year ago before work started and the delays were due to Covid conditions affecting many areas, and our own weather conditions, etc. The recommended siding boards were with shingle-shake design and very attractive. Once we got a date for the job to begin, Astacio and his very efficient work crew methodically proceeded. The carpentry was precise, the caulkers and painters were careful with spills and splashes and to tape where necessary. It was refreshing to see a group of people working so well together. Sherwin Williams paint was contracted but when time came to paint, there was no supply whatsoever. A substitute with another brand was seeked out and used. Another unpleasant discovery of dry rot under the edge of eaves area needed repair, also affecting the existing roof shingles and needed to be replaced. We had previously had a roof inspection done by a credible roofing company and this was unfortunately not detected. All these extra happenings which Astacio undertook and expeditiously resolved, and even found the shingles to match the old which was not a simple task. Everything was taken care of in the course of the work schedule and the job got completed, and we felt the extra cost was within reason. Our very good rating for Astacio and the company for our job is based on our recent completion and satisfaction of our job well done. Astacio has demonstrated professionalism, honesty, integrity and straight forwardness in communication, a problem solver with the customer's interest in mind! 10 Stars! I have had my home painted by other companies, but have never experienced this level of professionalism. Much of my siding was dry rotted including the entire chimney and deck do to improper paint jobs in the past. Astacio and his awesome crew took the job on. Any piece of wood that showed signs of rot were replaced. The entire 2nd story deck including large timbers were replaced. No fillers for these guys! There are clues that you have the best as you watch the work progress. They not only pressure washed the exterior, but scraped the entire structure. They didn't paint around light fixtures, they removed them. The next step was caulk. Every crack, and every gap in trim boards had been filled. No previous painter had ever done this to my home. Finally, 2 coats of paint on everything. They wrapped up the job by staying an extra day to refinish my doors. I would without hesitation recommend Astacio and his hard working crew to anyone wanting only the best! I know my home will withstand the elements for years longer than in the past. Astacio and his crew just finished painting all of our interior cabinets and doors and installed/painted new baseboards in my house. Western Painting is by far the most professional of any contractor we have worked with in the past twenty years. The crew arrived at 8:00 every morning and stayed until 5:00. They thoroughly prepped and primed all surfaces before painting and protected my furniture/flooring with plastic sheets. They cleaned up their supplies and left my home tidy before they left every evening. The new paint looks amazing! Astacio is extremely attentive to detail and spent a lot of time trying to find the appropriate hinges to work with my old cabinets. He also gave me good advice on selecting new hardware for my cabinets. He quickly corrected any small detail his crew may have overlooked. We chose Western Painting in Alameda and would definitely use them again in the future. I chose them based on receiving the Nextdoor community recommendation award winner. Astacio came out for the in person estimate the day after I contacted him for an estimate. (Note: he took over the company a few years ago after being the lead supervisor for many years.). His estimate was competitive but definitely not the cheapest. His company addressed extensive dry rot on the exterior of my house. Thankfully, they directly deal with these repairs on their own and do not have to hire out a contractor. Astacio brought other areas of the house that needed dry rot repair and was careful not to overcharge. They re-painted the exterior of my house and did a tremendous job. One coat of prime and 2 coats of finishing paint. My house is in the Harbor bay HOA community and thankfully, Astacio is very knowledgeable of the HOA's procedures. We own a 1901 Victorian with an interior that desperately need to be painted. Some areas hadn't been painted in over 25 years and others had brand new drywall. If it had a wall I wanted it painted. It took them five days to move the big furniture out of the way, prep, paint and put everything back where it was and even put our cable connection back together. And reliable? We just had our house painted. We're extremely happy with their work and work ethics and highly recommend them. They scheduled us for the second week of November and showed up early on Monday, Nov. 6. The work was supposed to take two to three weeks, and everything was completed on time and on schedule. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was! We've had several days of rain which threw a wrench into the schedule, and I was really worried that it would delay the progress. But Astacio (the owner) had his crew worked on Saturday to take advantage of a sunny day and put in some really long hours on the other days to make up for the time, which really impressed me. During the course of the work, Astacio always informed us of what's planned for the day so there were no surprises. He also worked alongside his crew to ensure everything's in tip top shape. There were some detail work which really needed careful painting by hand on the frieze in the front of the house. It looks fabulous and really highlighted the character of the house. Below is a picture of the frieze. They've done a really good job prepping the house, painting it, and cleaning up afterwards. I've recommended Western Painting to my neighbors. They've seen the work in progress and were very impressed with everything - from communicating with us to keeping to the schedule - these guys are REAL PROFESSIONALS! The owner of the business would purchase materials without consulting homeowners which made for very difficult decisions about whether to continue the project. The owner of the business does not know to properly prepare homeowners for unforeseen costs. When hired to paint the house, the touch up work was very poor and lacked attention to detail which required multiple revisions to get house to an acceptable manner until we paint the house again this summer of 2020. Further, the lights and doorbell where hung crooked when the project was completed. I would not recommend and am happy to share pictures of the poor work done by this business. read more
