The first time I ordered pancakes and I was underwhelmed. The second time I was happy with my tostaquiles. Next time I'll need to try a dish with biscuits to give this place a well rounded review. I love how cozy this place is, and despite the wait, the line goes by quickly. read more

We arrived and what seemed to be a busy Saturday morning, the wait I thought was going to be long but the staff made sure to sit our party if 5 asap. I thought that was very kind and amazing! The staff from beginning to end were very friendly and checked in including what seemed the owner/manager that's asked how everything was going. We ordered the tostaquilles, fried chicken sandwich, kids small breakfast and a side of pancakes. We loved it all. The fried chicken was light and crunchy, the only complaint we had was that there was a bit of excess oil. Other than that the flavor was delicious. The tostaquilles were good, but seemed to lack a bit of flavor or salt. As a fan of chilaquiles I definitely think they could improve the recipe sauce. The eggs were moist and soft. The kids breakfast was good. The apple sausage was tasty as were the eggs. The pancakes were fluffy and had a good flavor and paired perfectly with the berries read more

Came in on a holiday morning for breakfast. The spot is on the corner right next to Ariscault in the Richmond. It's a small place with about 15 two-person tables. It was a little chilly in there, lots of families with small children. The menu was small but the plates around me seemed well made. It's a moderately bustling little spot. I saw some chicken and waffles on the pictures crop Google but they didn't have any! But they did have a side of fried chicken so I got the pancakes and a side of chicken, and a coffee. Total came to $31.23. I think the pancakes were decent with a nice presentation. The chicken was a little meh and looked kinda old. Nothing to really rave about, but then again, I didn't get a plate like some of the others I saw-- the egg plates with some nice meats. It's a nice casual spot for a quick bite, I'd go elsewhere if I had someone to eat with. I'd say like 3.5/5 read more

We were disappointed all the way around. Long wait which we understand but it wasn't worth it. Service and food were lacking. Biscuit was bland and very hard. If we needed anything, we had to flag someone down...and prices were high. Not the same experience as our first visit. read more

Perfect place for a weekend or weekday lunch! I went around 11am on a Sunday and only waited about 15 min for 3 people. The French toast was amazing and love the maitake soft scramble as well! The interior of this place is small, if you want an indoor seat you'll need to be patient. Outdoor seating is quicker to get a spot however they don't have any heaters. We waited for a while to get a table for a party of 6 indoors, when we sat down and ordered we also waited a while to order and for our food to come out. As we were waiting the owner brought out some complimentary biscuits with butter and jam and they were absolutely delicious. I don't think I've ever had a biscuit that delicious in my life. It was the perfect crisp on the outside and softness and warm inside. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was good and had a small kick to it. The salad it came with was a delicious lemon garlicy dressing. My only complaint is that the chicken sandwich came with green tomatoes and they were on the harder side and not entirely ripe yet. The fluffy pancakes were a but dense read more

Loved the overall menu, I'm excited to come back to try the other stuff we didn't get to try this time. The French toast was amazing. The potatoes are what I would have to order every time I return. Service was fast and food was reasonably priced. It was quite busy, but food got to us hot and fast! read more

Came here on a Thursday at noon and we were sat down immediately. I came with a friend to have lunch here and it was a nice small restaurant with a lot of decorations and a tree inside the restaurant. We got a garden bowl with a side of fried chicken, grilled chicken burger with potatoes and shared a French toast. All of the food was amazing and the service was great and it was a nice vibe inside the restaurant. would definitely come back since it's so close to where I live. read more

Great spot for breakfast/brunch. Everything is always fresh and tasty. The maitake soft scramble was more like an omelette, but nicely done, and their potatoes and toast are terrific. Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Coffee refills throughout. Cool dining room, open kitchen with a decorated tree branch for the holidays. read more

What a wonderful place to grab some yummy brunch! I came in with a friend during the clement street farmers market. It was very busy, but we were able to get a table under 15 minutes. We ended up ordering the fried chicken sandwich and their version of chilaquiles. Both dishes were good, but the sandwich was by far the star. Would definitely order that again. The potato side that came with the sandwich was also delicious. The chilaquiles were also good, but the salsa they use (as well as the sour cream) made it a very heavy dish. We weren't able to finish that, but we were glad we were able to try it. Service was very friendly and the plants inside created a cozy vibe. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Revisited after their recent ownership change and remodel. Delighted with our breakfast. Service continues to be friendly, but pacing of the food is slow. The pancakes were delicious. The fluffy pancakes tasted like madeleines. The almond rice flour pancake (side order) is slightly denser but still good. The pulled pork confit (side order) is crispy and yummy. The over easy egg is also good. We sat outside and they are very dog friendly with water bowls available for the pups. Weekends are very busy and hard to score a table, but lovely on a sunny day. read more

This is Eats 2.0 at the corner of Clement St & 2nd Ave. my understanding is they'd been closed, don't know the full story, and had recently reopened with a new menu and staff. We were warmly greeted once we walked into the small but sunny corner location. There's some seating along the outside perimeter of the eatery. We got our waters, menus and coffee briskly which is great when coffee is needed to make your morning okay!! We decided to share: MAITAKE SOFT SCRAMBLE (gf), a 3-egg soft scramble w/roasted maitake mushrooms, Bloomsdale spinach & goat cheese, fried potatoes & artisan toast. There an option for a salad in lieu of potatoes. But boy were we happy with our choice! First bite of the potato set the standard for the rest of the meal. The potato was properly crispy, fluffy hot interior and well seasoned, making my mouth very happy! Next the soft scramble w/bites of maitake mushrooms, spinach, and a tangy tinge here and there of the goat cheese made it absolutely delightful! A nice way to round out this plate was Bonne Maman apricot jam & butter for the toast. This was a clean well balanced breakfast plate that was light, tasty, & hot! Choose the salad as side if you want to be extra good but, darn, those potatoes!!! SIDE ALMOND RICE FLOUR PANCAKE (gf) w/fresh berries, whipped butter & pure maple syrup. This was a really fluffy pancake that melded well w/the butter & syrup condiments. Definitely would order again! We didn't intend on having a gluten-free breakfast but the ingredients and pairings sounded great and, guess what, it delivered! The waitstaff was attentive, thoughtful throughout our breakfast and all of them had a nice easy smile while checking in on us. What more can you ask for at the first meal of the day! Eats has a very eclectic breakfast brunch menu where you can find Thai pulled pork or Vadouvan Curry Chickpeas to a fried chicken sandwich or signature Eats burger! Next visit, I'm looking forward to trying the Vadouvan Curry Chickpeas, pancakes, and any breakfasts with the side of potatoes! See you there! They're currently open from 8AM-2PM Wednesday-Monday. Closed on Tuesday for now with plans to open every day! read more

Went on a whim happen to be in the area in the morning and thought I would try breakfast. Location was fine. We actually found parking pretty easily on Clement, which was surprising and there were only two other tables at the time seated right away. Nice clean looking area to dinethe service was right on par This was rated as two dollar bill signs for price point but I found that it was a little bit higher than that. I would've said three dollar bill signs more accurately reflect the prices but everything is up in San Francisco. It wasn't outrageous nor was it cheap food came out pretty quickly and we ate everything so it must've been good! I would recommend it to people but just know that it's not really a bargain type place, but I would say fair market value for these days. My girlfriend got the Chile tostada plate and I got a pancake, which was very fluffy and delicious. One was enoughfor me. Seems like they have a pretty loyal following so I think they have been sold recently. seems like they're doing OK. read more

This charming place is such a treat. The space is small but bright and incredibly welcoming. You can't go wrong with their avocado toast or pancakes, and their greens are always the freshest. Best pancake I've ever had in my life. Also gluten free. Crunchy on the outside, the inside melts in your mouth.

Very busy brunch spot in the inner Richmond with good food and decent service. We waited half an hour for a table and the staff was nice to let us sit and chat even when we were done eating. We ordered a breakfast egg plate with potatoes and a pancake and the maitake mushroom scramble with a salad. The maitake scramble was my favorite, the mushroom and spinach paired really well with the goat cheese. The toast and potatoes were also yummy. The pancakes were denser than I'd prefer so I would skip it next time. read more

Found my new go to brunch spot when visiting my parents! This is in the Richmond district with patio seating. They have the perfect variety of menu items without feeling overwhelming. We got the tosta-quiles, pancakes, fried chicken sandwich, and the Eats burger with bacon to share. All of the dishes complemented each other and it was the perfect way to try a bit of everything. I normally wouldn't share brunch food, but everything looked so good that we had to! My favorite might have been the potatoes- they were perfectly seasoned and cooked with a crispy outside and gooey inside. The pancakes are so fluffy and the texture is between Japanese soufflé pancakes and regular pancakes. The only thing I wouldn't quite recommend is their coffee and I wish they had fresh squeezed juices. But other than the beverages, you really can't complain about the food. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is cute, and our wait for a table outdoors was almost nonexistent. I'd expect parking to be difficult in the area but this place is certainly worth a trip for anyone looking for a great brunch in the area. read more

I am currently writing this from within the establishment. My friend and I have been seated in the restaurant for close to an hour (one saving grace is my now cold cup of coffee and her almost completely gone iced tea) we have had our order in since 1:05. Here is the timeline of events: come to the restaurant, walk up to the host stand and ask about the wait, treated like a complete vagrant stranger no hi or hello, 10-15 minute wait okay whatever that's fine it's a nice day, we get sat at approximately 12:55p, order taken around 5 minutes later, we get our drinks (mentioned above), we're sitting and chatting and that's fine, people who were sat at the same time, after us, and larger parties get their food and finish up. We start wondering what's going on with our food. Clock strikes 1:48, by our observation the kitchen looks to be cleaning up for the day. At this point they're still seating people close to closing the restaurant at 2pm. Still no food to be had. My friend who was with me walks to the host stand to ask where our food is, hostess asks how many in our party, forgetting she was the one who sat us. Actions are louder than words. Person who took our order, maybe they were the manager, comes over to apologize for "forgetting about us." Friend asks, "did they even make the food" he says they did not. Offered gratis on our drinks and we took our money down the street. "Eats" established in 1975 still trying to get their act together 50 years later. read more

Eats has had new owners for a couple of years. The food is excellent, and so is the service. Today I got the half-sized French toast (one thick slice instead of two), nicely caramelized with balsamic strawberries and creme fresh, as well as seasonal fresh fruit, a fried egg and coffee. The meal was so pretty I had to take pictures. The seasonal fruit included berries (summer) as well as thinly sliced pears and pink lady apples (Fall). I thought I had tried pink lady apples before, but these were different- pink inside the apple slices, with a yellow peel. It was a pop of color that helped energize my morning, and everything was delicious! We normally sit outside, but since today is Monday, the inside was not crowded, and we ate inside. The music was lovely, and the servers are attentive. read more

I ordered the avocado toast with smoked salmon on top and it was absolutely delicious. Great neighborhood spot with a friendly staff.

Came here 3 years ago and was not impressed at all. Like 2 star worthy. But we tried it again a few weeks ago and found out they changed ownership and the menu changed as well. (Wish they changed the name too because let's be honest, the name is not good) The food is pretty darn good now ESPECIALLY the Tostachilles and the French toast. So so so good. Service is fantastic and I love the ambience/decor. Great brunch spot in the neighborhood! read more

Hey Simon and awesome Eats Crew!! We were looking at dozens of local restaurants for our 29th wedding anniversary today. Where could we go and pickup delicious and memorable food? So many, many places.( I wasn't leaving the apt today.. :) We are so darn happy we decided to go with our neighbors: Eats!!!  We just stood in our tiny kitchen having a class 1 feeding frenzy of all your carefully prepared dishes!! It was amazing, and each one surpassed our expectations. I'd never tried your insane grilled cheese or your unbelievable French toast w hot peaches!! I actually took the to go box and weighed the french toast: 24 oz of what I'll now be referring to as french toast steaks, cuz they are huge and steak like, but so, so much better. We also loved the wonderful burger and my daydream of having a giant dinner plate full of your extra crunchy potatoes was fulfilled. Thank you! read more

First let me say, if you want to chat w/your guest, skip it. The noise level is off the charts and the tables are literally on top of each other. Be prepared to wait for a table. The bacon, eggs and taters were exceptional. Eggs cooked perfectly, taters seasoned beautifully and not over done. 2 little slim wedges of toast, not enough IMP. Single pancake was good, but not worth $5.00. Plus they provided plenty of soft whipped butter and syrup. Skip the coffee, it's mostly brown water. They show photos of eggs Benedict on their website, but they only have 1 to offer. A bit disappointed. Service is fast and efficient. Quite limited menu. read more

I went here with a friend who was visiting recently. It was on a Wednesday and we wanted to get breakfast here around 10:10am and there was no wait! Now, I've never been here before, but I loved how they have such a large variety of breakfast items to choose from on the menu! Some of the breakfast items were not like the typical American breakfasts and I thought that was cool. Anyways, I got the Divorced Eggs and my friend got the Breakfast Suite. I enjoyed my Divorced Eggs because it was cool how the eggs were layered between soft tortillas and more eggs! The Divorced Eggs was basically like a Mexican style breakfast because of the tortillas and the salsas they put on top of it. The Divorced Eggs meal reminded me of an enchilada dish. My friend's item, the Breakfast Suite was more like the typical American breakfast with a waffle, sausages, roasted potatoes, and two eggs, which she thought was good too. I'd recommend this place! They have a large variety of breakfast items and some of the breakfast items are unique too! They were also quick at making our food, so that's nice too. read more

Swung by here after pickleball with some friends and OMG I'm so glad we discovered this place. When we arrived, we were welcomed by smiling and excited employees. This place was booming with business on Sunday and it was jam packed with people inside and outside. Since there was a total of 5 people in our party, we were seated inside. It was crowded inside, but since the staff were able to fit my party in, I was immensely grateful. We were welcomed by our phenomenal waitress, Ailey! She was so sweet, patient and a great conversationalist! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions my party and I had. All of the food on the menu looked delicious. The prices of the items are typical for San Francisco which brought me no surprise. After browsing the menu multiple times, I decided to get the following: -Thai pulled pork: I would rate this a 4 out of 5. I wanted to try something I never tried before. I added an egg to it for an extra $3. It was delicious and tasted like a typical pork sandwich, except it tasted sweeter. If you're contemplating on whether or not to get the egg, honestly it does not make a difference. It didn't elevate the flavor or anything for me. The sandwich came with a side of potatoes that was sauteed in onions and this blew my mind! It was a nice surprise to find my sauteed onions and my potatoes to be seasoned to my liking. Personally I would rate the potatoes a 5 out of 5. -Chicken: I would rate this a 5 out of 5. My friend ordered this and this was the one of the best places I got chicken from. It was crunchy and had lots of flavor! Ultimately due to the superb food and service, I will be back. However, I will be asking to sit outside instead of inside. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday and managed to snag a small table inside. I got the Maitake Soft Scramble and it exceeded my expectations. I'm usually very wary of scrambled eggs because it's almost always overcooked. This was actually still soft and creamy. The mushrooms were not too earthy and were well balanced with the eggs and goat cheese. The goat cheese was also not too gamey and very fresh tasting paired with the mushroom and egg. It also added to the creaminess of the eggs without making it taste heavy. I would definitely try to come back to sample their other dishes! The service was good, although it was loud inside and a bit hard to have a conversation. read more

This review is for Eats 2.0: We stopped by here because it appeared to be quite popular after their remodel. I was kinda disappointed with this restaurant. First, the ambience was quite loud inside since the music and kitchen was so loud. The inside seating was also very tight. This brunch spot does not have an espresso machine, which it did prior to the remodel. I ordered the fried egg sandwich, which was pretty dry. The potatoes were really good though but I am not sure if that makes up for a mediocre sandwich. read more

Whoever is in charge of packing to go - needs a second review. You request utensils. Super rude server. It was loud so we asked him to repeat something he mumbled when we came in for a table ("sit at any tabletop"), and he got hella patronizing and one-by-one, pointed out every single table (including dirty ones) and sassily said "You can sit here, or here, or here, or here, or here. Capeesh?" Yikes! Sorry, dude. We left. read more

The door was open the entire time we were sitting we asked to be moved away from the door but they didn't move us and the door was jsit wide open the mwhole time we were trying to eat, do the price it's not worth it, it's really loud and. Cramped, I felt so uncomfortable my stomach hurts after eating from freezing and the loudness sensory overload. The biscut is good but upon serve of our food they forgot my partners orange juice and they don't give us any condiments we had to ask and they still didn't give us salt and pepper and the eggs and potatoes needed salt for sure. So overall not what it used to be for us. We used to come a lot, but we felt forgotten honeslty I think because we look not as rich as most of the customers so we jsit got totally overlooked, felt not great. We only like a few of the waiters and they weren't working today. Also multiple people were asking us if we were okay, but it would have been better to jsit have one waiter to a section so the experience is fully taken care of instead of jsit cycling around makes no sense. Because so much was missed. Food is decent but with the experience being so hot and miss I don't think o can't pay that much for jsit simple Breakfest. read more

They are theee most perfect potatoes. Perfect crisp on the outside but they still stay soft on the inside. Perfect seasoning of rosemary and sautéed onions. So addicting. Added touches like sea salt on the avocado make this place so special. I mean, even the butter is high quality and the toast is evenly buttered! Service: The staff is top notch. Warm and friendly.
