I ordered yellow curry and rice... It was awful. The curry tasted like water and a weird aftertaste that didn't taste right at all... Like mold... It was nothing like any curry I've ever tasted. I will never go back. I couldn't even eat my food. I ate the rice only because I was so freakin hungry.... I was nauseous after one bite of their curry... Stay away from this place. We live in the bay. There are so many other good spots for thai. But this is definitely not one of them. I really just want my money back from this place and to wipe them from my memory. read more

This place used to be so good but not anymore. Employees just standing around on their phones yet really slow service, food comes out cold, and the quality is not worth it. Most recently was picking up an order and they told me it would be a couple of minutes, waited ten and asked where it was only to be told that someone must have taken it. Only got a shrug and they walked away. read more

What an amazing staff! Not only is my food absolutely delicious but I placed an order for pick up and forgot my wallet at home. The lady helping at the front desk was so sweet and understanding to my situation and helped me out in the most amazing way possible. The food was absolutely incredible and I most definitely will be returning for another meal. Thank you so much! Thank you for being in business and thank you for your wonderful service during these uncertain time read more

Eat at Thai is really close to my office and I decided to come back for their red curry. Absolutely great host that greeted me and offered me something to drink. The menu offers different choices such as appetizer, rice and tofu or meat. I choose just tofu. Last time I came I order chicken curry and added tofu for just 1$. I also got a got free Thai ice tea for checking in! You can also get ure order delivered by grubhub . The presentation of their food is very appealing. I also enjoyed the sitting area as I waited for my food! They have nice background music playing and a water fall next to the sitting area which is beautiful. Please see pics .. I love this place to get away from my office and have a relaxing and delicious lunch. read more

I absolutely hate giving bad reviews but this was bad! An older Caucasian couple came in right before me and what looks to be the owner greeted them nicely, and when I entered he said for here or to go? They acted funny upon my entry, and as I observed their service it got progressively worse. I waited until I was going to be checked on to make my order and low and behold, the couple gets checked on three to four times before I had to wave them down to get their attention. The waiter walked past me three times(and quickly) without saying a word unless I initiated it. I give this a star because this used to be good back then (food included). The customer service is horrible now. Don't eat the Eat@thai salad you'll regret it and they'll be mad at the fact that you don't like it.( Dry, tasteless, overpriced, undercooked?) My stomach started to feel funny and I told the waiters away from other customers out of common courtesy that I wasn't fond of the dish and they got irritated. They said what do you want? (Though I have no menu to look at) (Mind you I'm doing this at the bar because no-one is checking in on me. Oh and the couple get's the best service ever btw). They get pleasant service, a pleasant farewell and thank you. I go from excited to f*ck I shouldn't have come here. Still no service with the exception of one check up the lady waiter apologized for the salad. Long story short I got charged a near $5 GRATUITY which I thought was typically for a party of six or more??? I'm dining solo btw. So I guess they assumed I wasn't going to tip. (Racist much?) As the male waiter gave me the bill he gave me a forced and heartless thank you. (Like please leave soon) Anyway I wasn't pleased at all in the slightest $30 bucks down the drain( five of which I didn't willingly want to give) and I won't be going back ever. P.S. my fried banana dessert was as cold as the icecream :( my ultimate reason for going. read more

Great service, always good vegan options. Singha is ice cold, served with chilled glass.

I ordered 3 times from this restaurant this week - 10/16, 10/19, 10/22... The 3rd was the last. Obviously, we liked the food... Until 10/22... The chicken satay we ordered was old and dried out like jerky - tough, chewy, inedible. It was obvious they had been cooked several hours ago. It actually tasted like it was left out overnight, that's how dry it was. (If you have ever cooked chicken you know what this looks like). I cannot believe they actually gave this to us. Also, the sticky rice and mango was so tough I couldn't even chew it.... It was tougher than the chicken satay... I'm so disappointed. Our bill (which I included tip!) was $49.17, but $13 of it was inedible... We actually order TWO orders of chicken satay and one of them was cooked fresh, so the difference was blatantly obvious. My boyfriend is never one to insist on writing a bad review, but serving OLD CHICKEN can make people seriously sick, so to serve it on purpose shows negligence and unhygienic practices! Because we couldn't eat the chicken satay, the sides were also left uneaten. More than $13 was wasted in this meal. We only ate the papaya salad, the noodles, and 4/8 chicken skewers. So, good for you guys... Way to pull a fast one. In the last week, I have spent $150+ (WITH TIP) here and I will not spend another dollar. There are too many places in Berkeley to support such terrible restaurant etiquette! read more

Never again. Do NOT waste your life. Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and it just went from bad to worse to WTF. We were the only ones there since we got there right when it opened, I still had to flag the waitress down to let her know we were ready to order. By the time she headed TO the kitchen with our order, it was 12pm, we got there at 11:30am. Food was nasty, service was terrible. They even argued with me about a dish I told them was burnt. The sticky rice was super sticky and rock hard in certain spots, which is an indication that the rice was old, sitting around and had been rewarmed too many times. Som Tum seemed old, like it was made the day before and had been sitting in the fridge. Just a few of many complaints ... Over an hour of my life wasted here. I was late going back to work because I had to argue with them over the burnt dish, which I refused to pay for. Like I said, never again. read more

I would not recommend this place, you get what you paid for. No wonder their menus are cheap. Pad thai didnt taste like authentic Pad Thai, it tastes like instant Pad Thai. Also, they used old stock overriped bananas on my fried banana, the bananas were black! Gross! I wont ever come back here. I ordered through DoorDash. I do not recommend this! If you wanna taste shit then go for it. You've been warned. read more

I am very disappointed with the delivery and execution of the dishes. I ordered a sirloin steak salad, and a pad thai. I only wanted to get one dish but the minimum was $20. I was super hungry and ordered my food at 7:45pm, my delivery didn't get to me (I live nearby) until 9:15pm. That is way too long to wait for two orders of thai food from a place that was about 1.5 miles away. When the food arrived the $10 salad was extremely small. No freshness, no lettuce or slaw, just a pool of lime juice and thin small pieces of steak. I ordered it mild and it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. The pad thai, that was so disgusting. I had had one bite and stopped eating. The chicken was burnt so bad the whole dish tasted burnt, the noodles didn't break apart and were mush, and the lime wedge was almost all brown. I will never order or eat there again. Do not waste your money, an entire $26 down in the trash. So disappointing. read more

I got a grubhub order. It arrived very fast, 25 minutes. The portion sizes are good and the food is hot. Those are the +++ However, there was 1/4 cup of solid oil floating on the top of the green curry. I know because I used a measuring cup to scoop it out. The remaining "curry" did not have coconut milk in it, I don't know what they used but it's super gross. The pad broccoli was made with either very old or very frozen broccoli, it's squishy but not overcooked. It tasted so strange that I spit out the one bite I took. The fresh rolls were premade so they were hard. I threw everything away except the rice which I didn't open yet. I have never done that before but I never had something so bad before. I order thai food from grub hub a lot, usually Bangkok or Tuk Tuk and sometimes Cha-Am when I am feeling like a $$ splurge. I thought I'd take a chance on this other restaurant. I'm shocked how bad it is. I mean I don't expect it to be perfect but I can't believe it is this bad. read more

I kept on passing this place on University and was always curious, so I decided to give it a try and ordered for delivery. The Crab Rangoon was soggy, The green curry was greasy, the Pad thai was stuck together, and the double grilled was salty. I could blame it on the tardiness of their delivery driver, or their mistype of my address; but I really believe their food just isn't that good. read more

Listen, I was headed to Nine Thai down the street based on higher yelp reviews, but: a) Nine Thai lost their alcohol license b) When we walked up she told us it would take 45 minutes to get any food and btw they close in 30 minutes- whatevs Sooo, we walked back to Eat@ Thai and we were pleasantly surprised. Came here with 2 vegans in our group of 4 and that was not an issue. My hubby and I ate the curry puffs which were amazing, and the green curry chicken which also had great flavor. I felt like the pieces of Chinese eggplant were a little large in our curry dish :/ Service was good and prices were on par with the area. read more

Have eaten at this place multiple times in the years I have lived in the area and it's excruciating to see them decline. The restaurant has a great location and decor- it even has some good dishes on the menu - the soups were very good 3 years ago. Alas in a cut throat Asian food market it seems to have been the racer who has given up and is just waiting for the whistle to stop ... sigh ! read more

Honestly the Pad Se Ew I ordered was disaster, so dry and I doubt if they ever pan-fried the noodle, it looks nice microwaved noodle covered with some veggies and overcooked chicken mixed with sauce. It's extremely overpriced for their food quality read more

Got the shrimp pad see ew. Only thing good about this was the shrimp. Everything else was an indistinguishable salty mush with a few noodle-shaped, broccoli-shaped, and carrot-shaped objects in the bowl. Probably won't come back here again, even though the other two friends in my group thought the food was good enough. I went by the DoorDash ratings which had this place at 4.8 stars... never again trusting DoorDash ratings - always go with Yelp. read more

Dine in or delivery...this place is such a blessing. If you have a birthday dinner, for example, this is a hard place to beat. If you are a foodie (like me) you are gonna melt here. I recommend the pad thai, yellow curry, and mango sticky rice, and the wait staff here are generous and gave me some extra rounds even. Have to say maybe my favorite or top 3 favorite restaurants ever tbh...incredible what their kitchen does. You can tell they really care about what they do read more

So I was just stopping by and didn't expect too much. But when I walked in I was greeted by this nice guy who seated me right away. I really needed to use the bathroom TBH. I deciddd to eat cause he was nice. I preserved the crispy basil pork and a Thai iced tea. Went to the bathroom and was so surprised that they had baby wipes and regular TP. I hate pulling one square at a time. Lol Anyways great food, great customer service, great location to wash ur clothes and get ur car washed read more

I've only ever ordered take out from this place and had it delivered via GrubHub so this review is based on food and price. Their pad thai, meat and veggie orders are all great and on par with any other Thai place out there. The Spring rolls are tasty. The calamari is pretty rubbery and terrible, I'm pretty sure it's frozen and deep fried. Their chicken satay also is not the best. For the price and convenience I recommend it. Especially for take-out. read more

Had my first meal here today and it's definitely my last. Ordered the chef special Mahi Mahi fish. It was so dry and chewy like it was fried yesterday and sat under a heater before appearing on our table. It was not edible. Also had the house soup which was bland and boring. It wasn't cheap either. Service was ok. read more

Not sure why there are so many complaints. The food and service were great-- we had egg rolls, rad na, pad kee mow.

-Friendly and fast service -Large and clean interior -Crab rangoons were delicious -Calamari comes in steak form and was also delicious -Curry dishes were mild (we like mild but I'm sure there are those who would want it more spicy) -Shrimp pad thai was good but the noodles were a bit overcooked I'd come here again if I was in the neighborhood. read more

The restaurant is clean and aesthetically pleasing but overall not a good experience. When I walked in the restaurant I couldn't smell food at all, I wanted to leave because in my experience if I can't smell food when I walk in a restaurant something's wrong! Majority of my group wanted to try it. Food cold , salmon curry , brown rice, soup had odd flavor, it's obvious they microwave every dish service slow. My daughter likes her yellow curry, fresh rolls were good, we were all disappointed in the whole experience. Will never go back read more

I ordered a green curry chicken and drunken noodles. And an order of egg rolls. 39 bucks. Ok fine it's expensive but it's Berkeley. BUT the curry and noddles were SO HOT that they weren't edible. And I love spicy food. This was outrageously hot. My family and I tried to suffer through it but gave up. I called back to complain and see if I could send it back and was told that no spice was added and there was nothing they could do. Even tho it had only been 10 minutes since I picked up. And the spice thing was a lie. I've had these same two dishes a dozen times and it was fine. In fact I had to add a little chili sauce. I was a repeat take out customer until this experience. You just don't do that. Especially since they weren't even busy. read more

Food= so-so. Better Thai is available in the area. Delivery, estimated at 45 minutes and came after 2 hours (!)= so not cool. We live less than a mile from this place. Really not cool! Apparently we were the last of 3-4 deliveries. The plastic containers were warped, because they were filled with still-boiling food--the only thing that could possibly stay warm after an hour in the car-- which means we were also eating the de-natured plastic. Ick. read more

I wish I could give negative reviews to this place.. We were looking for a place for a late Father's day dinner and this was right by the house.. Where to start??? We ordered chicken fried rice for our daughter and it came out burned. There were pieces of burned onion throughout the rice. Next up, my wife ordered the Thai Basil Chicken (Krapao Gai under their stir fry section).. It looked nothing like Thai Basil should. It looked more like a sliced chicken and green beans with some funky brown sauce. She did find one piece of burned thai basil in it with the stem still on.. Needless to say she wasn't happy. I ordered the duck curry which had heat with absolutely no taste. I love spices and the hotter the better, but this was just gross heat. I'm assuming it was just coconut milk with sriracha and red curry paste. The duck was horrendous with no flavor and the pieces of fat. I waited to pay the bill before I said anything as I didn't want the dude to think I just a wanted a free meal. I asked him what the hell my wife's dish was and he said this is Thai Basil chicken. When I brought up that every time we've ordered it in the past it's usually ground chicken, he came back with this is how we make it. I'm sure it's not his fault, but the food is gross.. We live a few blocks away and will not be coming back.. read more

Maybe, when you live in an area with innumerable Thai restaurants, the shadings and nuances of a review can baffle those of us who aren't as fortunate...I grew up in big-city California; now I live in Podunk. The dim sum I buy in Oakland and eat for lunch 12 hours later is better than anything I can get where I live--because I just cannot get dim sum where I live. Or decent Thai. So you may scoff at Eat@Thai, the worst-named Thai restaurant in the Bay Area, but we love it. And no, that is not the same as people saying Panda Express or Aztec Grill is good eatin'. I grew up on Asian food! So those who order fried rice and egg rolls...Why NOT the Panda? Devil Pumpkin (it also comes angelic), Basil Duck, the Spicy Prawn Salad, the curry...And it always seems to be Happy Hour/Two Beers for the price of one! (Or maybe they just like us.) Super-nice folks making quality food, and not afraid to experiment. I dig that. Plus, the menus are steal-worthy. Tan Sang the Wind! read more

Sat at the bar and got takeout from here close to closing time midweek; had flown all day from the east coast and had assumed food options near the Holiday Inn Express would be pretty sparse. Glad to be proven wrong - lots of great coffee, booze & food nearby. Chose Eat @ Thai on the 1st night because it was (a) open, (b) next door and (c) recommended by the hotel desk. Fresh spring rolls & pad thai hit the spot. Left happy. read more

This was my second time eating here. The food was great both times but service was absolutely lacking the second time. There were only two other customers when I came in but had to wait nearly 10 minutes for just water. Then the hostess realized I had been sitting there with no menu. I ordered a soup and a house special. The soup came at a reasonable time but had to wait nearly 20-25 minutes for the rest of the order. When I went to ask about the food, the hostess explained to me that it was the "custom" of the restaurant to serve soup first and tried to excuse the long wait further when I contested that generally the wait is not exceedingly long. Save your time, order online to circumvent the service. read more

Two words: pumpkin curry. So tasty! And the Tom Kha (tofu)...just full of tofu and mushrooms! Excellent service, excellent food, and not too sugary, like a lot of Thai food seems to be. My wife wanted to do something special for my birthday last night. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express next door and decided to Eat@Thai. Let me preface this review by stating the service here is lovely, the space is clean and inviting except for the awful "smooth jazz" music. The food, however is an entirely different story. My partner and I went for dinner and ordered vegetarian spring rolls for an appetizer. The spring rolls had a great texture--crispy on the outside, not too oily, easy to eat, however were completely flavorless. I couldn't even taste the vegetables that give vegetable rolls that tasty flavor. I ordered a peanut curry with tofu and broccoli while my partner ordered Thai fried chicken. We were warned that the chicken dish will take a while to prepare, but it wasn't a problem for us. My dish arrived a few minutes before his (a huge pet peeve of mine, everyone's food should arrive at the same time) but, too hungry to fuss about it, I started eating. My dish was obviously cold and I believed the broccoli tasted like soap. I took a second bite to confirm and I was correct. His chicken arrived and I asked for my dish to be replaced with something else, the Thai sweet and sour with tofu--which was adequate, but not particularly tasty or enjoyable. TL:DR, Service was great, food was disappointing, music is awful. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. We placed an order 2 hours ago and NO FOOD. They said it's because they forgot our iced tea. It does not take over an hour to go back and make/get the ice tea, but to mention how the quality of the food will be affected with an hour delay (if that's even true). We haven't even tried the food and know we will never go back. read more

This is a review of the delivery service, not the food. I live a few blocks away. After an hour and 4 minutes the delivery person hasn't left (for an order placed a little after 4:20 PM). This isn't what I would expect from any restaurant that delivers. From a Thai restaurant, around 4pm, I would expect the food to arrive within 45 minutes within a few blocks. Frankly, don't bother with either take out or delivery from this restaurant - since those are roughly equivalent. That said, I do enjoy eating in restaurant and I will continue to do so. read more
