I second guessed leaving my review cause maybe I come for the wrong reasons. I don't drink, but I love fresh food! If you're coming here for the beer selection, read the next review, if you wanna know about the breads and baked goods, read on. I'll start with the good! The sourdough! It's perfect. All their bread and meat is made in house. The sourdough is consistent and me and the wife can't get enough. The pastrami meat is very tasty but too salty! And I love salt! The bad would be the baked sweets I've tried. The lemon pound cake I bought for $10 to share at the office was very dry. Flavor was ok! But how could pound cake be dry? Baked too long? Same with the big chocolate chocolate chunk cookie. Flavor was ok, but dry! Maybe I'm buying old goods? Idk. The iced chai tea, meh. Too sweet and just.. meh. For the money, it deserves 2 stars- this food is not worth the money at all. It seems they're justifying the high priced mediocre food by offering a huge beer selection..? If I was getting buzzed here I probably wouldn't care by the time I get my bill. The pastrami in the picture was $13. Like for real? The sourdough is $5.50 for the whole boule. With as thin as they slice it, I'm paying $12.75 for some pastrami meat and a bit of cabbage? So to summarize, just buy the sourdough bread whole for $5.50! Amazing! My friends and I visited the north location for brunch recently and were very impressed! We had a group of 10, were easily seated outside and appreciated the many shaded umbrella areas to dine under. I had the Easy Egg breakfast sandwich and a Bloody Mary-- I was very satisfied!! My husband got the breakfast bowl which was also very delicious, however I will say the star of the show was the French Toast Bites which my friend had but I didn't get a picture of. Since they have a fresh bakery, you really get the homemade taste in everything-- the baguette was divine along with the whipped butter and syrup. I definitely recommend getting the French toast bites to share if you don't get it as your main dish (I love a salty/sweet brunch combo). The cocktails were very good too! Went there last night for dinner. Excited to try a new spot! Service was absolutely horrible (very unfriendly female server) , the order was wrong and what was delivered to the table was served cold, overcooked and with dried out bread. I think this was all on the server and not the kitchen staff as she really seemed pissed for having to serve tables. The place was not busy and she stood around most of the time. I've been coming to this location and the original one since they opened. It's great to have a cool new bakery and German-ish food place in town. When everything closed down, we spent a fair bit of money on their to-go items, and enjoyed trying to make bread with their sourdough starter while also enjoying their sausage-y offerings. When things started opening up I went to their Linc location often, because they were good with distancing, masks, lots of open spaces, and they had a solid beer list and menu. Things have continued to change here, and not for the better. I've left here twice now without eating because of menu changes, and after today I'm not sure I have much reason to return. 1. Weird happy hour and special BS: Twice I've come in during happy hour and found that happy hour was cancelled because of some full-priced menu for some special occasion. Worse, that full-priced menu had nothing I wanted to eat (most of which I couldn't anyway). Also, they have special sammiches that are advertised all over the tables, yet are only available one day a week, and before happy hour. So, these cool new sammiches are literally only available for like 4 hours a WEEK. Not great for most people, but especially those of us in the industry. 2. Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad menu changes: Ok, I can't eat most 4-leg protein, as it disagrees with my system. I can have a little bit, like the pork casing on the chicken sausage is fine. They also had a good turkey sammich that was tasty. Then it was gone. Then something else was there. Now, it's a turkey BLT, which is just an insult to BLTs everywhere and if I got it without bacon would just be a plain ol turkey sammich. They also took off the chicken sausage, ALL the sides, and increased the size and price of every single sharable app, some of them almost twice as expensive. Oh, I did find a few things, including the chicken sausage and one of the sides incorporated into one of the breakfast-y dishes (now only available for a few hours a day), but not available to those of us who'd want to eat them as they were on the menu. 3. Pricing increases: I've already kinda covered that above, and I as a chef I've had to raise prices from time to time. But providing fewer snack-y things in favor of raising prices nearly 100% (on some items), is bad form, imho. And in talking to the people who work there (and work hard), they're just as frustrated with all of these changes as apparently most of the clientele is. Sounds like some corporate upper management who doesn't even visit the restaurants is making changes which a lot of people aren't in favor of. Having been in the industry for most of my life, I can understand that these have been a crazy few years. I can also say that having a menu that's seasonal makes sense if that's your vibe. That's not really this place's vibe. Therefore, having a menu overhaul at least 3 times in the last 18 months doesn't look good, and the choices made haven't been for the best. read more

We had a late brunch at the Highland location - we brought our little puppy with us as they're very dog friendly - the waitress even brought out a doggy water dish!! It was our first trip to any Easy Tiger location and we were very impressed - as a matter of fact my wife said that her Prosciutto Baguette was the best sandwich she ever ate. I had the breakfast bowl with bacon and avocado and my daughter had the French Toast bites. We were all very satisfied along with several different stouts that I tried and the wife had a Belgian Pale Ale. It reminded us of a visit to a German beer garden that we visited in Munich. The food was great as usual; I came here twice in one weekend for their Easy Morning, which is a choice of pastry and a coffee for $5. The first day I had the cranberry orange scone and a cold brew. The second day I had a blueberry muffin and drip coffee with almond milk. The coffee is great, as are the pastries (I liked the cranberry scone a bit more)! These were both pickup online orders, and both times it took a super long time to get the food once we arrived. The first day we might have waited 30 minutes after the website said the food would be ready. The second day I still waited awhile after the website said the food would be ready, and at least three of the employees walked past me without asking me what I was there for...it wasn't busy, with two couples dining in the patio at the time. I hadn't been to Easy Tiger in years, and then it was downtown right on the creek (I lost a few ping pong balls over that net by the creek on their patio)! I was visiting Austin for a work conference last week and met some friends at Easy Tiger for some catching up, beers, and food! We all had a great time. We were a larger group (8 people maybe?), but we didn't have to wait very long for a table on a Thursday night (maybe 10 minutes?). The service was great (we were a big group, and our server was really patient with us when we struggled to be ready to order all at once)! And the food - just as I remembered - was great. We shared a cheese board (Antonelli's cheeses, nuts, olives, dried apricots, bread, and more) and a pretzel (served with house beer cheese, mustard, and salted whipped butter), and I got a sausage (hatch green chili cheddar with sweet and spicy pickles) - YUM. A few other friends tried the grown up grilled cheese and crispy brussels sprouts. The food was all good. (We also stayed so late that we were still there when they were giving away the day's remaining bakery goods before they closed; my colleagues left with a loaf of bread and some scones for the next day!) The property is great. It's large, with lots of outdoor picnic tables (it reminded me of their old location)! First time here recently was to see a live band perform in the beer garden (shocker, I know), but I was also looking forward to trying the craft beers and vegetarian German food. With a set of authentic Texas German grandparents who set the bar high and who were definitely not vegetarians, I had my doubts about vegetarian German anything, but they actually pull it off without using soy or wheat gluten substitutes, which I appreciate. They also offer vegetable and cheese dishes and probably my favorite shared food of the evening: a giant salted pretzel with soft cheese for dipping. That went perfectly with our Oktoberfest beer. Currently, they have four varieties on tap; my personal favorite was the smooth and flavorful Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest/Bitburger. The ratatouille veggie sandwich on ciabatta was a good idea, but the raw alfalfa sprouts took over the flavor, IMO, and would have been better replaced with some shredded red cabbage to give it just a little spice and crunch. Their sauerkraut is served cold, as it should be, and is thick shredded and just a little sweet. Not tart as I'm used to, but it was still tasty. They offer vegetable-based brats, which looked great except for the bread-and-butter sweet pickle relish on top (yep, that's authentic German and one of those acquired tastes I sadly never acquired, because I love dill). Those crunchy bread-and-butter pickles also come planted in the middle of the cheese plate, with a tasty variety of cheeses from Antonelli's cheese shop. The decor is modern and the place feels clean and spacious, with seating both inside and out. The bakery inside is a delicious temptation, and our table of four actually split one of their giant dark bitter chocolate chunk cookies (which go just fine with beer, thank you). I never say no to dark chocolate. The outdoor covered patio area was packed with young families and large groups of friends, and the fans and misters were running strong, even in late September, because this is Texas and it's still uncomfortably hot in the evenings. I noticed they have heating elements for our two winter months as well. Some people brought their small dogs on leash, but between the amplified band and the constant very loud conversation and the crowds, they seemed a little stressed out. Our young server Shawn W. was outstanding, friendly and informative, one of the best we've had at a mid-range restaurant in a very long time. He was attentive and able to cheerfully explain everything we asked about, both on the food and the beer menus. We ended up dropping just over $100 for a party of four and having a great time. This location is not at all as good as the original. On my first visit back in the summer I ordered the Spring Vegetarian sausage. I think it was $9 and what they brought me was about the size of a hot dog and it was cut open. It was the texture of couscous inside a weak casing. It was nothing like a sausage. I brought it to the server's attention and she took it off our bill. She said they are still trying to figure out how to make vegetarian sausages and made it sound like it's a new culinary idea which really confused me. The Easy Tiger downtown has great veggie sausages as do plenty of other restaurants and even the grocery store. I took home a loaf of sourdough and thought it was over proofed. I decided to give this location another chance a few days ago. I definitely did not order the Spring Vegetarian. I decided to get the $14 large Cobb Salad. I asked to have cheese instead of bacon. The server told me it already comes with blue cheese, so I told her that was fine. What I was served is what I consider a side salad with a boiled egg. It was maybe 5-6 whole romaine leaves with a light dressing and maybe 4 tablespoons of chopped veggies with two small pieces of toast. No cheese. It took what seemed like a long time to bring the salad out in the first place and it took another period of time to wave down my server to ask for the blue cheese. She brought it out a few minutes later with no apology. It was a soft creamy blue cheese that you eat on bread and crackers, not salad. It was very good cheese though so I ate it with the toast. Great outdoor patio with multiple locations. This specific location is really good spot to meet in north central Austin with a wide selection of beers. Indoor seating is also available. I really like the selection of mixed drinks that are creative and original. The menu is pretty good but could use some spicing up.
