Baby Carrots

Easy Bistro was one of the highlights of my Chattanooga trip, and sitting at the oyster bar made the experience even better. Watching the chefs work their magic while enjoying Oyster Happy Hour was dinner and a show all in one. I sampled seven oysters from seven different regions, and my favorite raw oyster was the Cold Creek from Washington. It was clean, briny, and perfectly balanced. As much as I enjoyed the raw oysters, the true star of the evening was the Hearth Roasted Oyster. Buttery, silky, and kissed with just a hint of citrus, they were absolutely unforgettable. The Smoked Grouper Rillette was a pleasant surprise. Rich and smoky, it was elevated by bread-and-butter pickles that added a Southern touch and cut through the richness beautifully. The saltines were classic, but the twice-baked crackers brought an extra layer of crunch that I loved. The King Salmon Crudo was incredibly refreshing. The salmon had a delicate sweetness that paired perfectly with the fresh vegetables, while the serrano peppers added just enough heat to keep every bite interesting. Even the vegetables impressed me. The baby carrots were perfectly tender, and the chimichurri's bright acidity balanced the creamy richness of the toum. For my entrée, I ordered the Gramigna, which was fantastic. The sauce was packed with flavorful andouille sausage from a local butcher and finished with delicious Tomme de Lafayette cheese. Comfort food with a refined touch. To top it all off, the team surprised me with a strawberry gelato for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The entire staff had amazing energy and worked together like a well-oiled machine. Sitting at the oyster bar gave me a front-row seat to the action, and my hands cramped just thinking about how many oysters they shucked throughout the evening. The aromas coming from the kitchen were intoxicating. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, with large windows overlooking the covered patio. At one point, I even spotted a horse-drawn carriage taking a couple on a romantic ride outside, which felt like something out of a movie. The upbeat soundtrack kept the vibe lively, and the extensive bar menu offered plenty of creative cocktails and mocktails. A special thank you to Chef Ben, who took great care of me and even poured my aguachile tableside so I could capture it for a video. Chef Emery and Chef Skylar were also fantastic. It's clear this team takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail. Easy Bistro delivers exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and a dining experience that's every bit as memorable as the dishes themselves.

I chose the Easy Bistro because it had been included in the new Michelin guide, though it hadn't earned any awards. I was also excited to stop in during the Oyster Hour. I was not aware that you can't order anything other than oyster during this time, except for a few other items (bread, shrimp, olives). Also, you could only sit at the bar or outside. It was a cool evening, but the heaters made it an ok place to sit. We ordered the Murder Point and Little Honey oysters. The Murder Point oysters were some of the best we've ever had, and we ordered two more. The Little Honey were too small to be enjoyable, so I wouldn't order those again. We also ordered some bread and butter. Folks, they brought out 1 1/2 slices of bread. For $6! It was just bread, nothing special about it. I would not order this again. I removed a half star for the lack of value. Luckily we came in at about 4:45 pm, so by the time we finished our oysters, we were allowed to order dinner entrees. I ordered the Steak au Poivre, which I though was good, not great. The steak lacked the peppery crust I associate with the dish. Rather, there were a few peppercorns strewn in a relatively non-descript sauce. I wouldn't order this again. The Steak Fries were delicious and some of the best I've ever had! I would definitely order these again. The service we experienced was not very attentive. The waiter didn't return after we had oysters for quite some time, even though I had told him from the onset that we wanted to order dinner. We lacked for water for long periods during our visit, not having received a carafe that some tables got. I took of another 1/2 star for the mediocre service.

Easy Bistro was recommended to us by our friend who lives in the area.We had the happy hour oysters and espresso and dirty martinis. Our bartender Allie and was great. She was on top of our drinks and my friend is into scotch so Allie suggested a scotch flight for her. We stayed for dinner too because raw oysters doesn't fill you up and had shared appetizers. Definitely recommend this place if ever you are in the Chattanooga area. The restaurant is elegant and our valet person in our hotel told is there is a dinner and wine pairing menu as well.

Would you plzzz have your bread baked in loaf's and sold!? That SHIT WAS WILDLY GOOD. NEVER BEEN MORE ADDICTED to a bread. Pretty decent spot in general, good ambiance, the dining area is classy and clean, the service was beyond good, and kind. The food was pretty good. Except for one thing The fish/ seafood, had a fishy taste to it. Like most definitely not Fresh or was not handled correctly, the octopus and the shrimp, it can definitely be better. Great wine selection, i did get Cabernet Sauvignon and was served in a Bordeaux glass! but im a snoopy wine ass. Also one more thing, bathrooms NEED ATTENTION! reminded me New Orleans dive bars. that was def disappointing. But aside from that pretty decent experience for a small town.

Beef tartar

This time had the beef tartar and tuna tartar. It was amazing. They do not disappoint.

Went back to Easy Bistro for a birthday celebration on Saturday 2/7, and was not given the typical Easy treatment that we have loved in the past. The menu is quite a bit smaller and more limited, on top of that after ordering a few small plates, we were told maybe 20 minutes after ordering them that one was no longer available (all fine in the long run, but I would have expected that to have been relayed to the server before service started). Once entrees came out, all but one were brought and our server was no where to be found for quite a while to address it with her. Once the final entree came (steak) it was not up to par with the other steaks on the table. A manager came and apologized, but that was all- no complimentary drink or dessert for the hassle, once again, not what we expect from Easy. We had a party of 8 and spent quite a chunk of money and were completely let down. Truly don't know if we will be back after the experience.

Bay Beauts Oysters

We loved our waiter Jesse, he had such good energy! We had oyster happy hour and it was delicious!

One of the best dining experiences we've had to date.... Wow Chattanooga you're lucky to have Easy bistro. . We stumbled across this gem & had back to back dinners here. The cocktails are yum, the menu is perfect (innovative yet comfortable). The endive salad, the oyster selection is amazing, and the pasta was insane. The vibe is lively & fresh . We're bummed we didnt have room for dessert... but the profiteroles looked out of this world.

We got there at 4pm for a drink--a really good old fashioned , but were so impressed with the place and the staff that we decided to stay for dinner. It was like one big happy family. Highlight of the drive. For the first time, today was different. The very friendly young women who first greeted us and guided us through the menu years ago are gone. In their place are unfriendly young ladies who would far prefer to chat with each other than provide even acceptable-level service. We were tolerated, not welcomed or even checked on to see if we wanted anything. I waited and waited for her to notice me at about ten feet away as I waved my empty beer can in hopes of getting a second one. Finally I had to interrupt the conversation between the waitresses by raising my voice above their conversation, "excuse me, may I have another?" Again, we were there early today. Just before 5:00 PM. That is how timing works when you are on the road. So the place was nearly empty. They weren't busy with customers. They were busy chatting amongst themselves. As we completed our fried chicken (still very good), she came by and did not ask if we wanted anything else but simply said "ready for the check?" It was a way to make us feel like we needed to leave. To add insult to injury, we passed by the hostess table outside on our way to the car as we left and we happened to pass between two Champy's young female employees chatting at the hostess station and blocking the way out. We had to say "excuse me" and walk between then as they kept talking to each other. Never did they bother to say "thanks for coming, please come back soon." So maybe after all this time...we won't.

So as far as the atmosphere in the space, it's your typical corner chicken and fish joint. Nothing impressive. Everything's pretty dated and kind of the bare minimum to operate a restaurant. If you're expecting any level of class, this is not where you'd wanna go. To be clear, that's not a problem I didn't expect a high-end atmosphere just stating my observation. So I get to the counter I tell the lady I want a two piece Whiting and I explained that I've heard mixed reviews as far as underseasoned food and kind of soggy fries. I stated go heavy on the seasoning and I want the fries extra crispy Golden brown. She tells me that's not a problem. It'll be perfect perfectly seasoned very delicious. Extra crispy fries no problem. Great I pay for the food. Give her my name and I go sit down. Takes about 15 minutes for the food to come up as soon as I get it I can immediately tell the fries are undercooked and pale. But of course I try one anyway, and they're absolutely barely warm and soggy. Of course they're also underseasoned. So I go to the fish, which is hot. Take a bite of that also underseasoned. It's almost no salt at all on the outside of the fish. and we definitely have to mention the fact that the Whiting was so thin there was more breading then fish So I put a little bit of the tartar sauce on it, and some of their house special sauce, as well as a decent amount of salt from the shaker on the table, which helped out the fish a little bit. I don't know if it was the owner of the manager, but he had came back to the store while I was waiting and was walking around and I asked him for a fresh order of fries extra crispy, golden brown and he said yeah no problem he would take care of it. I'm waiting waiting waiting. I mean it's gotta be eight minutes go by. It feels like he finally brings out fries. Set them down mind you all my food is gone. I've been sitting there. I've ate my fish. I've ate the sides. I'm literally just waiting on the fries, which kind of kills the whole meal because I wanted to eat it together. He brings the fries and set them down and immediately take them back because they look exactly like the other ones, soggy and pale. So it takes them back to the kitchen drop them in the fryer again and cook some longer. About three minutes ago, but he brings them back out much better on the color and crispy, but still, of course significantly underseasoned. I'm not really sure why it's so difficult to make Golden brown fries that are not soggy or lukewarm. They're coming out of a hot fryer. They should be hot and served immediately with the food. For what it's worth I did eventually get crispy fries, but all my other food was gone. I didn't get to enjoy the meal as a whole meal and quite frankly all of it needed some extra love. They sprinkle like some paprika or something on the fries, but there's just zero salt and salt should be your number one seasoning on all of this stuff It sucks that I expressed all these concerns before ordering so none of it was an issue when I got the food and every issue that I brought up was present in my experience. I wanted it with everything for me to give them five stars but unfortunately, I have to settle on two stars.

3.75/5 -- The Flaming Rooster | Chattanooga, TN…read more I stopped by The Flaming Rooster while in Chattanooga, and overall, I'd give the experience a 3.75 out of 5. There were definitely some highlights especially the catfish and the service. The ambience has a real throwback feel. It isn't fancy or modern, but that's part of its character. It reminded me of an old-school neighborhood Southern restaurant, and I actually appreciated the nostalgia. Between the decor, the food, and a cup of Kool-Aid, there were moments that genuinely took me back. The service was one of the strongest parts of the experience. Janet was a 10/10--friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The kitchen staff was also very efficient, and our food came out hot and fresh. Missy, who rang us up, was hilarious and brought even more personality to the experience. The staff definitely made us feel welcome. Now, the food: Fried Catfish -- 10/10. Hands down the star of the meal. The catfish was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned extremely well. This is what I would come back for. If you're visiting for the first time, I recommend starting with the catfish. Fried Chicken -- 7/10. Good, straightforward fried chicken. It was crispy and enjoyable, but nothing that completely separated it from other good fried chicken I've had. Still, I would order it again. Macaroni & Cheese -- 5/10. Not bad, just average for me. It worked as a side, but it didn't stand out compared with the catfish. The potato salad reminded me of Sam's Club potato salad, which actually isn't a bad thing because I like Sam's Club potato salad. It had that familiar, simple flavor. And the Kool-Aid mix deserves a mention. That took me straight back to childhood. Something about Kool-Aid alongside fried catfish and chicken just fit the throwback atmosphere perfectly. Overall, 3.75/5. The sides could be stronger, but the catfish was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the nostalgic atmosphere gave the restaurant its own personality. Janet and Missy helped make the visit memorable as well. If I find myself back in Chattanooga, I'd definitely stop by again. I also recommend giving The Flaming Rooster a try if you're in the area. And seriously-get the catfish. 10/10.

The restaurant attracts a distinctly local crowd, and it was completely packed when we arrived around 5 p.m. My mother has an early dinner schedule, so we were seated toward the back shortly after arriving. I ordered "broasted" chicken with black-eyed peas, okra, and a side salad. The salad was substantial and reasonably good. The black-eyed peas and okra were also fine, although neither was particularly hot. Unfortunately, the roasted chicken was extremely dry, and I had to order a side of white gravy to make it easier to eat. My wife ordered the meatloaf, which had an excessive amount of tomato-based topping. She had to scrape some of it off because there was simply too much. My mother ordered what I believe were chicken fingers, although she only picked at her meal, as she doesn't eat very much. The staff was friendly and made every effort to help us with drinks, napkins, and anything else we needed. That part of the experience was very positive. I also understand that Countryside Café was voted "Best of the Best" in 2026, an annual reader's-choice awards program presented by the Chattanooga Times Free Press; so clearly many people enjoy the restaurant. I wanted to like the place more than I did. A traditional meat-and-three restaurant is something worth preserving. Unfortunately, the dry chicken, lukewarm sides, and overly topped meatloaf made the meal underwhelming. The service was good, but the food was too mediocre for a four-star rating.

The ambiance is chic but casual-great for both cozy date night or fun family night. Our server was so friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu. I ordered the grilled salmon with spicy crab remoulade and my guy ordered the smoked wings with a side of fries. I was happy that I was able to select my own sides from the ones on the menu so I opted for the fried Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon and the buttermilk whipped potatoes. After a short wait, our food was brought out. This was truly one of the best salmon dishes I have ever eaten! The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online.
