This place has a great reputation...well I was really disappointed, and I'll tell you why. Went in for some cedar planks. First of all the customer service was pretty sub-par, but hey it's a hardware store/lumber yard. The place is more oriented towards contractors, and if you are looking for supplies for a weekend project/DIY you'll feel out of place and frustrated. The real trouble is, when I got home, the "four foot long planks "ranged in length by about 1 1/2 inches. One of the pieces had a large crack running through about 6 inches of it. They were also not really the best looking pieces of wood, and were somewhat wet. I was also given and charged for 6 more than I had asked! I know I should have checked, but I was in a rush and figured I could trust a place with a reputation for quality. On top of everything, this place is overpriced. Maybe if they had a few less incompetent employees, they could lower their prices! I will be returning and asking for a refund - update to follow. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service by grey haired, Larry who was my checker today when I tried to return some gate latches. I didn't have the receipt anymore and he was unhelpful and unapologetic. He refused to take the return or apply a store credit despite the merchandise being Dunn lumber merch, unopened and in package. The Dunn lumber website states their return policy as not requiring a receipt which this employee refused to stand by. We aren't all contractors, sometimes we get the wrong pieces. Next time I'll go to Home Depot or Lowes where sales reps want to help you succeed, will help you find the right product, and are even willing to take a return if your product isn't right. And here's a tip: put Larry in the back stock room where his jolly attitude can warm the lumber or better yet, fire him. read more

Still only giving 2 stars, but will update to say that the store manager contacted me immediately after reading my initial unfavorable review and was interested in resolving my negative experience. Kudos to him for that. read more

I wanted to use these guys because they are local company, but..... I have never had such rude, condescending, customer service at any retailer in my life. Called to set up a delivery and the gal in customer service acted as if I was an inconvenience to her. First told me that they did not sell the products that I wanted to purchase, then acted mad once I told her the product number and that the website said they had the product in their inventory. Of course she found it and was a complete troll to me after. When I set up the delivery, she said that I had to unload the product myself but could not provide me with a time window of when the delivery might be there (or at least tell me that they could provide one on such and such a date) So I told her to cancel the order and her response was "you're all set" and hung up on me. Sorry Dunn Lumber local or not, I will go elsewhere from now on. read more

I've been buying lumber at Stewart Lumber for small DIY furniture projects for a few years. I stopped at Dunn Lumber out of convenience as I was near this location. I was super impressed. When I explained what I was planning to do, they helped me find the best quality pieces in cheap framing lumber. Jacob, who helped me in the lumber yard, even suggested we take a look at the odd lots of Fir for some more interesting grain patterns. Jacob (outside) and Shawn (inside) were great! I will definitely be back for my next project. read more

As a remodel contractor Dunn lumber has always been a virtual daily stop for me for all my projects going back some 25 years so obviously I like most everything about them. Last year however I ordered a huge Marvin Window package from Keith Church at the Latona store that was pretty detailed. Not being familiar with the Marvin frame specifics we ended up ordering the wrong window frames on 35 large double hung windows, for any contractor that is a real "Oh s---t moment when 6 weeks later the windows arrive and they don't fit. My big shout out to Keith and Jim at Dunn for stepping up big time to help remedy the situation. We came up with a replacement frame solution that Dunn ordered in that worked with the windows we had already ordered and everything went in perfectly. The windows are installed and are beautiful everyone was happy. Its easy to be nice and helpful when everything is going well but when the rubber hits the road and the obstacle is large that's when a company's character and service really show through. Thanks again to Keith Church for the perseverance and patience as we wound our way through what could have been a disaster. Dunn stepped up big for me on this one and will continue to have my business every day for the next 25 years. (god I hope not that long). Collin Hurlocker InHouse Remodel Seattle WA read more

My aunt and I went to Dunn Lumber to pick up some wood for a project she's working on and from start to finish it was a horrible experience. Before we even went to the store my aunt did her research and picked out wood listed on their website that would work for her, she wrote the dimensions and descriptions down word for word and even the pricing since last time she bought wood from them there was some major price differences with what she found online and what they were trying to sell her. Anyways the man who helped us had no idea how to find the lumber she was asking for by size or description, so just placing the order took much longer than it should have. Whether that's the fault of the computer system or the operator is unclear, but once he finally did find the wood we wanted and we began giving him cutting instructions my aunt had to explain to him why cutting 5 pieces out of the wood would only take 4 cuts when he tried to charge her for 5 cuts (@ $0.50/ cut which is ridiculous anyways, but I'll get to that in a minute). The debate continued when she asked for another piece to be cut into 9 pieces and he tried to charge her for 9 cuts. Finally the order was finished and we headed to the shed to pick up the lumber. We picked out the pieces we wanted and had them cut 5 lengths of wood into 5-2' pieces and one length cut into 9-16" pieces. Now we were charged for each cut on each piece of wood, totaling to 28 cuts (though the first 6 are free), so that's $11 in cutting. The really frustrating thing about it though was the man who did the cutting was able to cut all five pieces of the same length wood at the same time, turning 20 cuts into 4 and leaving us paying extra for work that he didn't actually do. I asked if it was standard practice to charge per cut per piece when obviously that's not how they cut it and the guy tried to compare it to an auto shop, which I didn't get, but then another gentleman stepped in to see what the problem was and his best reasoning was "they just charge what they think it'll cost in there and we cut it the quickest way out here" which obviously isn't great reasoning. Maybe they need to charge for the cuts they do, not the cuts they might do, especially when you're charging $0.50 for a task that takes 10 seconds. And after all this, the problems with ordering, over charging on cutting and the complete indifference expressed by everyone we interacted with, when my aunt was putting together the project she found 10/25 pieces were cut to 23 3/4" rather than 24". So we were over charged for a job that wasn't even done right. Overall it was just a frustrating experience with the only redeeming thing being that instead of being charged $11 for cutting we were only charged $8.50, but that was likely due to a math error by the employee who took our order. So neither my aunt or I will be coming back to Dunn for our lumber needs. read more

I'm repudiating my update of Dunn Lumber. Jim, the Customer Service person brought my contractors and me into a meeting with Canyon Creek Cabinets. The cabinets look great. I decided to go with the trim pieces my contractors suggested. Someone else is paying for the trim and my contractor's labor to install the trim. After everything is finished, a guy from Canyon Creek is supposed to return to the site to touch up the other paint problems. I'm still not happy with Canyon Creek Cabinets at al. I would say that Dunn has worked as hard as possible on this and I'm definitely satisfied with that. Hopefully Eric or whoever sells Canyon Creek Cabinets at Dunn points out the fact that they aren't painted on the bottom and have sharp edges. read more

After being turned off from the poor attitudes at Daly's, I purchased deck stain from Dunn Lumber. The staff I spoke with on both of my visits was knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. I am very pleased with the Red Label Penofin stain and the deck looks beautiful. read more

Yep. The staff have been here forever so they really know their business. I highly recommend Dunn for your local needs. Prices are OK but the service is great so I support them. Most of the tools are a little over priced so I only buy the small and cheap tools I need here. Best for lumber. read more

I recently bought cedar decking from Dunn. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. The quality of the lumber was better than what I had seen elsewhere and the price was right. They delivered to my garage for just $20. read more
