I'm from NYC and wasn't expecting authentic food out in Plano, TX. We had hot n sour soup, beef chow fun, crab Rangoon, and pork n scallop and boy was everything so damn delicious. My mother in law even liked it a lot and this coming from a picky eater. That speaks volume. Very tasty and as said before, authentic. Serving was big and lived up to the saying "everything is big in Texas". Price is very reasonable, but this is coming from a NYer. Not sure if the locals may agree. My husband and I love this place. We tried their Mongolian beef lunch special, house special buns, and pork and cabbage fried dumplings. Their house special buns are amazing. This restaurant recently moved from Irving to Plano so if you're used to the Irving location, there's been some changes to the menu! There are some who say Dumpling House is better when compared to Jeng Chi. For now, Jeng Chi trumps Dumpling House. At Dumpling House, you have chili oil as a condiment. They don't have chili sauce and I prefer having chili sauce when eating dumplings (just a personal preference). They also don't have ginger dipping sauce for dumplings if you're expecting that. Jeng Chi is slightly cheaper when it comes to dumplings but then again Dumpling House's dumplings are a tad bigger. Dumpling House doesn't have Xiao Long Bao though so don't come here looking for that either. The green onion pancakes here are pan-fried which I like a lot and also they are not too oily. They also offer a "peanut butter pancake"...which I thought sounded too weird to try. We ordered the chicken "pancake" (it was more like a fried bun) but once we bit into it, we discovered the chicken was still raw. At least they reconciled this by not charging us for it and giving us a complimentary "soybean skin in garlic sauce" cold appetizer dish instead. They offered to remake it for us but we declined. I give them major props for being so nice and quick in fixing the issue! The dumplings you can choose to get steamed or fried. We got the steamed fish dumplings, pork & shrimp dumplings, and pork & scallop dumplings. All were decent, but most of the dumplings here contain chives or green onions... They just need to chill out on the chives a bit. We also got the pork & cabbage dumplings fried but I felt that was a little too oily. The dough wrap here is pretty much the same for all the dumplings so all the dumplings look the same. The food was average (nothing spectacular) and the service was average. Before I came here, I read a lot of reviews about how slow the service is beginning from the moment you walk through the doors. I was ready for the slow service. I have to say, my experience was the complete opposite. I arrived at around 6:00 p.m.on Tuesday and there were about 4 tables filled. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a kind lady, I forget her name, and asked whether I was a dine-in or takeout. When seated, our order was promptly taken and on top of that, the waitstaff visited our table at least 6 times to make sure we were doing okay. Oh, did I mention that I had made at least four orders at different times. The staff was very kind and did not seem bothered by this at all. I had even asked if they were under new management because of how much attention our table was getting. The male server's response was a negative and he seemed quite concerned with my question... Well, we ordered a lot of food for a party of 2.5 and enjoyed everything - from the combination fried rice to the pineapple paste and red bean paste buns. We also had an amazing noodle dish that I can't recall the name and is not listed in their online menu. In any event, the pasta is handmade and is opaque white in color and shaped like a seashell. We ordered the cabbage dumpling as well as the bun version. Both were excellent. I really enjoyed the Soybean Skin in Garlic Sauce, which was a cold appetizer. It was a very generous amount. Two stars because the food is delicious and should have had five stars, but the service for delivery is awful. Three times in a row they got the order wrong and when it was pointed out all I got was an indifferent "very busy" as the person to whom I complained walked away (because I had to physically go to the store to pick up the missing dumpling sauce (twice) and get the sweet and sour shrimp I ordered instead of the walnut shrimp I received (once)). I can't blame the third-party delivery service because Dumpling House seals their takeout so it can't be inspected without ripping into the package. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't for me. I got a Togo order of the stir fried rice noodle with beef, pork and cabbage dumpling, & house signature bun. Total was about $37. Was in the area so I thought I would try a 'good' dumpling place (based on Yelp star ratings. If you want fresh dumplings, this is the place. I got the pork and scallion steamed dumplings, which were raved about by previous yelp reviewers. I came at lunch tho so ordered the standard Chinese lunch time fare. I first tried this place by ordering lunch and had it delivered. I ordered the pork and cabbage dumplings and the egg/seaweed soup. The dumplings are huge and very juicy! Great flavor and the dumpling itself was moist, and perfectly chewy. The soup was great because the seaweed added a layer of flavor to a soup that is typically kind of bland. The food here is honestly terrific. Super authentic, and I always order the corn porridge or millet porridge on the side, because it's the perfect palate cleanser in between buns or dumplings. Both the steamed dumplings and pot stickers here are excellent, and the meat buns are also good. My parents love the Chinese chive buns, and my brother loves the green onion pancake. Beef and chicken pancakes also good. I've tried other dishes (noodles, etc) with mixed results; if you're coming here, order the dumplings. It's in the name! Can't in good conscience give them the full five stars because service can be spotty, and I've had issues with wait times before. My mom's friends were telling her about this place so I was really excited for some good buns, and what not, but I was not impressed. It was just us two and ordered more than enough just so we could try everything we wanted. I honestly can't even tell you what we ordered without looking at the menu because nothing really stood out for me. Luckily, I took a bunch of pictures so I can try and play match. First, I was disappointed because they don't have XiaoLongBao (soup dumplings) and I was under the impression they did... Oops. They do have a GouBuLi Bun which I guess is the next best thing but it wasn't amazing or anything. I've definitely had better pork buns before. The green onion pancake was very thick and lacked flavor. In fact, every other dish that followed I felt the same way. They just have too thick of a dough/skin/bun for my liking with very little flavor. I had to dip everything in my soy sauce and chili but even then it was just meh. Maybe I wasn't very hungry, or something, but nothing made me want to come back. I'm not even a very picky eater and nothing had me thinking it was delicious. Never really seated (or greeted) when you first come in. (Even if there are plenty of empty tables!) They really need to not skimp out on hiring a hostess! But when you have their attention, you've got their full attention! Food - 5 Service - 2 Value - 3 The food here is great, but the service here needs to improve. I am hopeful things will improve since they have only been open at this new location for about 2 weeks now, but they have a long ways to go. I think they are adjusting to a larger space with more customers than they are used to and it is resulting in a poor dining experience, but the food is good enough that I'd still come back and hope the service improves. THE GOOD: The food itself is really good -- especially the potstickers and fried buns. My favorites are the pork and cabbage potstickers and fried buns and also the fried beef and onion buns. The noodle dishes are hit or miss. The beef noodle soup is good but a little salty, some of the other noodle dishes are rather bland. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: The service was slow and food came out slowly too. They us that they were all out of a certain dish and then later one we saw other tables receiving it and as we were leaving they said that they really didn't run out of that dish, but that it would take 40 minutes to cook, but offered no apology for giving us misinformation. It took about 30 minutes for all our food to arrive (which meant the above dish they said they were "out of" would have arrived nearly around the same time our other dishes did), and even though we placed orders to go at the same we ordered our food for the meal -- they did not start cooking it until we were done eating and we had to wait an additional hour for the to-go dishes (at that time less than half the tables were filled). Ordered both prawn pork dumpling and their signature dumpling. Both are good. The scallion noodle is too heavy on taste. I am expecting fragrance from frying scallion and green onion and with light soy sauce and oyster sauce. That's how all others made it. But they use lard and soy sauce for steaming fish instead. So the taste is too heavy. Noodle itself is great. It is hand made. Smooth and chewy. Spent about $78 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Not cheap. We ordered two bowl of noodles, 2 serving of bun, 2 serving of dumpling and 2 serving of soup. The wonton soup is delicious . So in summary, only order certain food there. This new location has been open for about 2-3 weeks so this review will take this into account as new openings or re-opening are known to start out slow. Ambience/Environment: There is no A/C. They have set up a portable A/C unit next to the entrance to alleviate some of the heat issues. There are no fans. Thankfully, the heat from the kitchen does not waft into the dining area. Just order a cup of ice cold beverage and it should hold you over for the first 30 minutes. The interior has pretty traditional Chinese decor like overhead lantern lights and wooden veneer tables. Service: There is no host to seat customers. There is a sign-in sheet at the entrance. Customers are supposed to fill it out and wait to be seated. Sadly, however, since there is no host, seating can be anywhere between instant to 30 mins regardless of whether or not there are open tables. The waiting staff stop seating customers when the dining area is about half full. Based on what I saw, I suspect that their current staff cannot keep up with more than half a restaurant's worth of customer's demand so they make customers wait at the entrance to avoid overloading their staff. This might normally be okay to a certain extent but with the added issue of no A/C, the wait is uncomfortable to say the least. Once seated, the service is awesome. The wait staff are extremely attentive: around when you need them but not hovering and making customers nervous. The food came out very quickly when the restaurant was empty; about 5-10 minute wait. As more customers were seated, the food delivery time dropped proportionatelly. I could tell that there was tension within the staff as our waitress was chewed out by the boss at one point for doing something wrong. I personally think our waitress did an excellent job. I would suggest that the staff not give "advice" in the presence of customers. We ordered and everything except dumplings came out within 10 minutes. Around this time, 5:25 PM, more customers started arriving. The customers were seated within a minute or two. Our dumplings arrived 10 minutes later which is about the time we started wondering if they'd forgotten about them. By 5:30 PM, the dining area was half filled and the staff stopped seating customers. The entrance started filling up with people waiting to be seated (2 groups with about 10 people total). By 5:45 PM, one group at the entrance gave up/left and 3 more groups showed arrived (now totaling of about 12 people). Still, no one had been seated since 5:30 PM and the dining area had 5-6 open tables which seat 4 each. The wait staff completely ignored the customers waiting and there was not host. No one went to the entrance to greet the waiting customers. We finished eating and left at around 6 PM. It was starting to get hot and the water wasn't helping much anymore. It was also getting uncomfortable eating with the gaggle of people at the entrance waiting. Even by this time, still no one had been seated since 5:30 PM. read more

Bring your appetite, because the food is amazing! It reminds of most mom and pop ran Chinese restaurants, but what sets this one apart is the scrumptious dumplings. We ordered different entrees for the table and just shared them family style. The pork and shrimp dumplings were amazing! Big dumplings stuffed with shrimp, minced pork, and onions then steamed to perfection. The chicken and mushroom dumpling was equally delicious. Great improvement since the last time I was here. My boyfriend and I were greeted right when we stepped in. They quickly took our order when we were ready, and food came out less than 10 minutes after. We had the the pork & chive dumplings, szechuan noodle (Dan Dan noodle), and hot & spicy beef tendon noodle. I automatically fell in love with their tendon. It was cooked, not chewy like other places. Their dumplings were juicy and not dry. My boyfriend also love their szechuan noodle, it was his second time ordering it. I can't remember if their menu state that it's spicy or not, but their noodle was pretty spicy, from their peanut sauce. The restaurant also follows the concept of reading orders through an app from the iPhone, to illuminate errors and decrease time. The service have improved dramatically, food was good. I love dumplings and buns. It's definitely 1 of my favorites to eat in Chinese food. We ordered the fried goubuli buns which in my opinion was better than the steamed dumplings. It was nicely stuffed and the grilled side was still crunchy. It was a 3 bite bun for sure bc it was a good size. Despite its name being "bun", don't use your hands bc it's greasy. For the steamed dumplings, it was a lot as well for the 2 of us. We almost didn't finish it! The dumplings could have been much warmer and with more soup. The up side to that is I didn't burn my tongue eating them. The skin was a little thick too so they were a bit chewy but nothing too unbearable. The noodles we ordered was something I forgot but it had a salty bean sauce with meat and other shredded veggies. I wasn't a fan of the due to the sauce. For service, we got seated as soon as we walked in and our waitress was so nice! She spoke canto to us and our waters was refilled constantly. Well more mine than my friend's bc I drank so much! This was my 2nd attempt at trying this restaurant. First attempt the sign said they were open but the door was locked and I saw several people walk up as well. I would recommend you call before you go. My second attempt was well worth it. A customer recommended the Goubuli bun which is ground pork and green onion..... it was DELICIOUS !!! Also ordered the Chicken and mushroom dumpling and the Green onion pancake. Apparently the fry cook wasn't in so we could not order the fried rice, so we ordered white rice. I have been there a number of times. I have never had a bad dish, but their onion pancakes are the best dish on the menu.

I bought a Groupon here to try out thinking it wasn't going to be that great but I was wrong. For our first time, the food and service was great. We ordered steamed pork and cabbage dumplings, fried fish, and green onion pancake. The dumplings were very juicy and tasted very fresh. Fiance was a big fan of those and wants to try more of the dumplings next time. Fried fish was delicious. The batter was crispy but not greasy, very savory tasting which was a nice compliment to a bowl of rice. The green onion pancake was nicely fried and didn't look like the kind I buy frozen. I only saw 2 main servers in the dining room at the time but the waiter specifically was extremely efficient in helping everyone in a timely manner. He was personable and very accommodating. The first time I came here I really liked it, but the more I came the less I like it... First of all they like to randomly close their doors during their open hours, so we never know when they are actually open. The service is spotty, some servers are good some suck. The food is good, half the menu is pretty authentic and the other half is like panda. The buns are really good but they are buns not dumplings so the breading is thick. Their dumpings are also good. The green onion pancake was my favorite in Dallas the first time I came here, very crispy, but they got less crispy each time I came, my latest visit the dough was still raw in the middle. Favorites are the home-style tofu, fish dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings, and chicken dumplings. My brother really enjoys the pork and scallop dumplings and shrimp pumpkin dumplings. Their rice is great, cooked perfectly with a good texture. I would skip on the walnut shrimp. Buns are good too. They're nice and soft with a good amount of filling.
