If you love dumplings, you need to eat at Dumpling House. They make their own dumplings (and you can even buy frozen bags to take home if you love them THAT much). The dumplings and buns were good and came out piping hot (Heads up: the filling in the dumplings and the buns are the exact same filling mixture). The braised eggplant was also good, but they only gave us 1 bowl of rice for 4 people (my super, super huge Chinese restaurant pet peeve). The beef tendon noodle soup was a disappointment (skip it). read more

This place has exceptional fresh handmade dumplings and I love this place, my favorite is there beef pancake and I would recommend it to everyone. My one tip is that since it's fresh the patty squirts so be careful when eating it. The green onion pancakes are also so fragrant and flavorful! Make sure to stop by if you are in the area! read more

OMG! Hands down best freaking dumplings I have ever had! I mean I even make my own dumplings and it's hard to admit these are better! Super fresh hot and flavorful!! And there was no filler, all meat!!! Also have to add that I was SUPER surprised with the wonton soup. Never had such a flavorful broth, really deep rich flavors! My mouth is watering Not to mention we ordered the medium wonton soup, basa steamed dumplings, pan fried scallops and pork, green onion pancake and jasmine tea. It was super affordable made four meals and a snack! Can't beat that! read more

Dumpling House - All deliciousness!!! Try the extra spicy sauce! - Chinese Near Me - Plano, Texas

Ok. These are FUUCCKKINNGGG good. I've only had the chicken and mushroom pan fried dumplings to go (do not try eating dumplings in the car at a stop light. You will end up with grease down your shirt, shorts, and seat belt strap). I will return so hard. read more

The dumplings were good, but the entrees were not special. (Besides the dumplings) the food did not taste fresh. Dumpling prices seem kinda high for quantity and quality. read more

So good!! Everything tasted amazing. The spices on the Crispy salted squid were delicious, definitely recommend. My favorite dish was the pork shrimp dumpling (steamed). We went at 10:30 am on a saturday and there was no wait, service was great as well! Way better than Jeng Chi in my opinion. Thanks Dumpling House! read more

I really don't understand why there are many great reviews. My husband and I got 3 dishes and all of them were extremely bland.

Had beef pancake, scallion pancake, steam dumplings, sautéed string beans and beef noodle soup. This was for the 3 of us as it was just the right amount of food. The food was all good as expected. Do want to give a shout out to the scallion onion pancake as it was light with lots of layers. But unfortunately, the beef noodle soup was not up to par with the lackluster noodles and the broth was just soy sauce flavored. Didn't have that 5 spice flavor that's well known to the Taiwanese style. Service was decent and basic. For the DFW area, I think the JengChi is still the benchmark for these comfort food. read more

Very tasty filling. But they lose a star for charging extra on fried dumplings that look like they have all of ten seconds of browning. Apparently an unwillingness to fry my dumplings is something that the Dumpling House and my wife have in common. read more

Enjoyed pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings, chicken and mushroom steamed dumplings, salt and pepper squid. Wasn't crazy about signature boiled due to thick wrapper, but juiciness was good. Service was nice, but unfortunately understaffed so was slow. Not recommended for short lunch breaks. read more

Our first time to visit this restaurant; visited based on the reviews. Very disappointed in both food and service. The specialty steamed dumplings were flavorless, the sweet and sour chicken was WAY over cooked, and the beef fried rice was just ok. Waiter was inattentive, and our food arrived at different times. NO ambiance; several half painted walls and a curtain that insufficiently hid the kitchen. We will not return. read more

This restaurant recently moved from Irving to Plano so if you're used to the Irving location, there's been some changes to the menu! There are some who say Dumpling House is better when compared to Jeng Chi. For now, Jeng Chi trumps Dumpling House. At Dumpling House, you have chili oil as a condiment. They don't have chili sauce and I prefer having chili sauce when eating dumplings (just a personal preference). They also don't have ginger dipping sauce for dumplings if you're expecting that. Jeng Chi is slightly cheaper when it comes to dumplings but then again Dumpling House's dumplings are a tad bigger. Dumpling House doesn't have Xiao Long Bao though so don't come here looking for that either. The green onion pancakes here are pan-fried which I like a lot and also they are not too oily. They also offer a "peanut butter pancake"...which I thought sounded too weird to try. We ordered the chicken "pancake" (it was more like a fried bun) but once we bit into it, we discovered the chicken was still raw. At least they reconciled this by not charging us for it and giving us a complimentary "soybean skin in garlic sauce" cold appetizer dish instead. They offered to remake it for us but we declined. I give them major props for being so nice and quick in fixing the issue! The dumplings you can choose to get steamed or fried. We got the steamed fish dumplings, pork & shrimp dumplings, and pork & scallop dumplings. All were decent, but most of the dumplings here contain chives or green onions... They just need to chill out on the chives a bit. We also got the pork & cabbage dumplings fried but I felt that was a little too oily. The dough wrap here is pretty much the same for all the dumplings so all the dumplings look the same. The food was average (nothing spectacular) and the service was average. Our waiter seemed pretty clueless...but whatevs. I'll maybe give this place another shot once they're settled in and get the hang of things. read more

Before I came here, I read a lot of reviews about how slow the service is beginning from the moment you walk through the doors. I was ready for the slow service. I have to say, my experience was the complete opposite. I arrived at around 6:00 p.m.on Tuesday and there were about 4 tables filled. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a kind lady, I forget her name, and asked whether I was a dine-in or takeout. When seated, our order was promptly taken and on top of that, the waitstaff visited our table at least 6 times to make sure we were doing okay. Oh, did I mention that I had made at least four orders at different times. The staff was very kind and did not seem bothered by this at all. I had even asked if they were under new management because of how much attention our table was getting. The male server's response was a negative and he seemed quite concerned with my question... Well, we ordered a lot of food for a party of 2.5 and enjoyed everything - from the combination fried rice to the pineapple paste and red bean paste buns. We also had an amazing noodle dish that I can't recall the name and is not listed in their online menu. In any event, the pasta is handmade and is opaque white in color and shaped like a seashell. We ordered the cabbage dumpling as well as the bun version. Both were excellent. I really enjoyed the Soybean Skin in Garlic Sauce, which was a cold appetizer. It was a very generous amount. I am looking forward to trying their green onion or chives pancake on our next visit. read more

Wow, is this a hidden gem? My friends and I were sitting out at the pool enjoying the beautiful Texas weather and decided to use Uber Eats and try Dumpling House. The dumplings did not disappoint and the the noddles, fried rice, and spring rolls were delicious. What a great way to end a wonderful evening with friends. We typically order from Yu's Asian, my favorite, but Dumpling House is making this a difficult decision when ordering Chinese take-out in the future. Try it! Inexpensive, tasty and fast! read more

Little hidden place in Plano that serves great and authentic dumplings, pancakes, and others. I do recommend everyone to try this place out but first lets review..... Service (** of *****) Once arrived no one was at front - waited briefly and was seated. It seem like when we went they only had two servers and what seems like owner was helping out also. The lady took our order and only came back twice in 30 minutes - although I understand that this place was bit busy for 2 servers. After 40 minutes from initial order - we finally got our 1st part of the food and 5 minutes we got the rest of our food. Atmosphere (**** or *****) I really liked the decor and design of the place. IT was very clean and spacious - they have some type of plant decor around the place which felt really homey. Food (***** of *****) YES 5 STARS!!! We ordered, minced pork and shrimp steamed dumplings, minced pork buns, beef pancake and to fish the dinner we ordered minced beef soup. The dishes come very very very hot so be careful when taking that first bite - make sure to use Chinese vinegar and hot oil - this will make the food extra flavorful Please see photo - typing this doesn't do the justice - yet go try it. Overall we will be back read more

This place is delicious! Came here with some friends and ordered family style. We had the soup dumpling, shrimp and pork dumpling, and beef onion dumpling. We ordered through door dash but this place taste so authentic and delicious. The noodles are so good and rich in flavor amazing balance ! The dumplings you can tell are hand crafted to perfection. Service (** out of *****); Servers were confused and I had to ask twice for everything because they forgot to get what I asked for the first time. Forgot my spoon, forgot my bill, and took forever to bring the stuff that they didn't forget. Food (**** ouf of *****); 2nd best dumplings in Dallas behind Royal China and best beef pancakes outside of Asia. The noodles were too salty. The green onion pancakes were too thick but was O.K., just not great. Decor (*** out of *****); standard Chinese restaurant with tables and chairs. Nothing special. Conclusion (*** out of *****); Very good beef pancakes. I would return just for that. You have to eat the pancakes with a spoon underneath so you could capture the hot soup gushing out of them. Careful! It's HOT. Yum! Good dumplings. The wrapping is a little bit thicker than Royal China, though. However, they are still very good and gushing with soup from the inside of the dumplings. If you like dumplings and beef pancakes, then you have try Dumpling House. Just be sure to come early as the service is inconsistent, especially if they are busy. Dishes are moderately priced at just under $10. It's not expensive at all considering the dishes are very meaty and very labor intensive to make. read more

Best dumplings ever. We buy the bags of frozen ones to take home!! Also love the lo mein.

Decided to eat here because I was craving dumplings so badly. Pretty busy but it was a Saturday night. Have very nice options for dumplings and buns in steamed and fried options. The fried option gives a nice texture added to the buns. My suggestion is to order a different variety and share them with friends. read more

My mom's friends were telling her about this place so I was really excited for some good buns, and what not, but I was not impressed. It was just us two and ordered more than enough just so we could try everything we wanted. I honestly can't even tell you what we ordered without looking at the menu because nothing really stood out for me. Luckily, I took a bunch of pictures so I can try and play match. First, I was disappointed because they don't have XiaoLongBao (soup dumplings) and I was under the impression they did... Oops. They do have a GouBuLi Bun which I guess is the next best thing but it wasn't amazing or anything. I've definitely had better pork buns before. The green onion pancake was very thick and lacked flavor. In fact, every other dish that followed I felt the same way. They just have too thick of a dough/skin/bun for my liking with very little flavor. I had to dip everything in my soy sauce and chili but even then it was just meh. Maybe I wasn't very hungry, or something, but nothing made me want to come back. I'm not even a very picky eater and nothing had me thinking it was delicious. They do have lots of options though so that's good? Should've ordered the beef noodle soup but I just wasn't in the mood. Maybe another time. Oh and the service wasn't great either. Not the most helpful for first time eaters and I hate waiting for my water to be filled. read more

OK, this is one of those times where I wish Yelp let us rate service and food separately. Service: Needs work! - Been here more than a handful of times. Never really seated (or greeted) when you first come in. (Even if there are plenty of empty tables!) They really need to not skimp out on hiring a hostess! I've been asked to write my name time on the list, but no one looks or refers to it... so what's the point??? - It takes a while to flag someone down to order and to get the check. But when you have their attention, you've got their full attention! So at least that's good! - They're pretty high tech here, Nest thermostat, ordering with the iPods etc. They advertise they have Apple Pay (but don't really use it). Why can't they implement something for the hostess?? Even if it's something to help the servers organize...it'd be nice! Food: Awesome! - Dumplings steamed or potstickers, all good! - Scallion pancake is good - Noodles are not so impressive (seafood noodle is sorta bland but beef noodle is not bad) - Popcorn chicken is good, huge chunks of chicken, not really what we usually expect for popcorn chicken, but good batter So all in all, 4.5-5 stars for food and 1.5-2 stars for service read more

Food - 5 Service - 2 Value - 3 The food here is great, but the service here needs to improve. I am hopeful things will improve since they have only been open at this new location for about 2 weeks now, but they have a long ways to go. I think they are adjusting to a larger space with more customers than they are used to and it is resulting in a poor dining experience, but the food is good enough that I'd still come back and hope the service improves. THE GOOD: The food itself is really good -- especially the potstickers and fried buns. My favorites are the pork and cabbage potstickers and fried buns and also the fried beef and onion buns. The noodle dishes are hit or miss. The beef noodle soup is good but a little salty, some of the other noodle dishes are rather bland. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: The service was slow and food came out slowly too. They us that they were all out of a certain dish and then later one we saw other tables receiving it and as we were leaving they said that they really didn't run out of that dish, but that it would take 40 minutes to cook, but offered no apology for giving us misinformation. It took about 30 minutes for all our food to arrive (which meant the above dish they said they were "out of" would have arrived nearly around the same time our other dishes did), and even though we placed orders to go at the same we ordered our food for the meal -- they did not start cooking it until we were done eating and we had to wait an additional hour for the to-go dishes (at that time less than half the tables were filled). The place was also super hot and when we asked the waitstaff if the A/C was broken, they said it was working just fine...but our entire table was sweating and when we went outside it actually felt nicer there (note: the restrooms A/C seemed to be working quite well so if you must get some cool air, stop by the restroom for a few minutes!) read more

A late lunch it was so no wait whatsoever! Nice surprise of finding "cats' ears" in menu and this morsel of little 'gnocchi' was delicious! So was their spicy beef noodle - tender wonderfully marinated beef, al dente noodles, and savory broth! As for their steam & fried dumplings - I'll give them a leeway that we came in late, the skins on the dumplings were chewy rather than smooth! DH definitely is worth a try! Cheers! read more

Pretty decent northern Chinese restaurant. They have good options of authentic and Americanized fair. The seating is nice and private feeling, and the lady that works there is very sweet. It isn't the best Chinese food I've had, but their appetizers are great and I appreciate that they have Lamb dishes. I will definitely go back and try some more things. There are many options in Plano, but this is a solid safe go to place if you are in the area or want something consistent read more

tl;dr - Conclusion: Given that this is a recent re-opening, my ratings are will not be as harsh. Ambience/Environment: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Location: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Background: Dumpling house is a Chinese restaurant that relocated from its location in Irving to Plano. See http://www.yelp.com/biz/dumpling-house-irving for its old location and reviews. This new location has been open for about 2-3 weeks so this review will take this into account as new openings or re-opening are known to start out slow. Ambience/Environment: There is no A/C. They have set up a portable A/C unit next to the entrance to alleviate some of the heat issues. There are no fans. Thankfully, the heat from the kitchen does not waft into the dining area. Just order a cup of ice cold beverage and it should hold you over for the first 30 minutes. The interior has pretty traditional Chinese decor like overhead lantern lights and wooden veneer tables. Service: There is no host to seat customers. There is a sign-in sheet at the entrance. Customers are supposed to fill it out and wait to be seated. Sadly, however, since there is no host, seating can be anywhere between instant to 30 mins regardless of whether or not there are open tables. The waiting staff stop seating customers when the dining area is about half full. Based on what I saw, I suspect that their current staff cannot keep up with more than half a restaurant's worth of customer's demand so they make customers wait at the entrance to avoid overloading their staff. This might normally be okay to a certain extent but with the added issue of no A/C, the wait is uncomfortable to say the least. Once seated, the service is awesome. The wait staff are extremely attentive: around when you need them but not hovering and making customers nervous. The food came out very quickly when the restaurant was empty; about 5-10 minute wait. As more customers were seated, the food delivery time dropped proportionatelly. I could tell that there was tension within the staff as our waitress was chewed out by the boss at one point for doing something wrong. I personally think our waitress did an excellent job. I would suggest that the staff not give "advice" in the presence of customers. Food: We ordered the following: - GouBuLi Bun (狗不理包子) - Hot & Spicy Beef Tendon Noodle Soup (香辣牛筋面) - Basa Fish Dumpling (龙利鱼蒸饺) - Celery & Lillium Brownii Bulb (西芹百合) The GouBuLi buns (essentially pork buns) were delicious. The noodle soup was numbingly spicy, just how I like it. The Basa Fish dumplings were new to me but the filling was soft and just right. Those three were excellent. The Celery & Lillium Brownii Bulb was not good. First off, it did not have the lillium brownii bulbs which one would think it would have since its in the name. Second, it had cashews which is not in the name but may be a problem to customers who are allergic to nuts. The ice cold water was awesome given the A/C problem. Location: I usually don't mention location in my reviews but I feel that I must this time. This place is located right next door to Bavarian Grill! So after you eat here, you can head next door and grab a delicious german beer and listen to some polka. Price: Overall the price is just a bit overpriced. Appetizers: $4 to $8 Entrees: $8 to $12 Shared Dishes: $8 to $16 Seafood based Dishes: $20+ Desert: $6 to $7 Hours: Lunch: 11 AM to 3 PM Dinner: 5 PM to 10 PM Closed Mondays. My Visit: My wife and I came for dinner. We arrived at 5:15 PM and, since there was only one other customer here, we were seated within 30 seconds. I immediately noticed that there was a portable A/C unit next to the entrance, meaning that their A/C problem had not been resolved, so we ordered two waters with ice. Waters came out quick. We ordered and everything except dumplings came out within 10 minutes. Around this time, 5:25 PM, more customers started arriving. The customers were seated within a minute or two. Our dumplings arrived 10 minutes later which is about the time we started wondering if they'd forgotten about them. By 5:30 PM, the dining area was half filled and the staff stopped seating customers. The entrance started filling up with people waiting to be seated (2 groups with about 10 people total). By 5:45 PM, one group at the entrance gave up/left and 3 more groups showed arrived (now totaling of about 12 people). Still, no one had been seated since 5:30 PM and the dining area had 5-6 open tables which seat 4 each. The wait staff completely ignored the customers waiting and there was not host. No one went to the entrance to greet the waiting customers. We finished eating and left at around 6 PM. It was starting to get hot and the water wasn't helping much anymore. It was also getting uncomfortable eating with the gaggle of people at the entrance waiting. Even by this time, still no one had been seated since 5:30 PM. read more

Great improvement since the last time I was here. My boyfriend and I were greeted right when we stepped in. They quickly took our order when we were ready, and food came out less than 10 minutes after. We had the the pork & chive dumplings, szechuan noodle (Dan Dan noodle), and hot & spicy beef tendon noodle. I automatically fell in love with their tendon. It was cooked, not chewy like other places. Their dumplings were juicy and not dry. My boyfriend also love their szechuan noodle, it was his second time ordering it. I can't remember if their menu state that it's spicy or not, but their noodle was pretty spicy, from their peanut sauce. The restaurant also follows the concept of reading orders through an app from the iPhone, to illuminate errors and decrease time. The service have improved dramatically, food was good. I will come back for them tendons. read more

I bought a Groupon here to try out thinking it wasn't going to be that great but I was wrong. For our first time, the food and service was great. Fiance was a big fan of those and wants to try more of the dumplings next time. Fried fish was delicious. The batter was crispy but not greasy, very savory tasting which was a nice compliment to a bowl of rice. The green onion pancake was nicely fried and didn't look like the kind I buy frozen. DH is one of my new favorites when I'm visiting family. My first visit was a month ago and 2nd was today. I found them on yelp and was really intrigued by the dumplings and the buns. I had never had any of those before, so I decided to try it. So glad I found them. So delicious and a great experience! We had the beef & onion bun, chicken mushroom dumpling, and chicken fried rice. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. Being that it was our first time we didn't know the portion size. We had more than enough food and some to take home. 2nd visit: it was getting late (8:30 pm) and we had a larger group (5 adults) so we decided to place an online order. Me personally, I don't like getting to a restaurant when it's so close to closing time. The online process was easy to follow. We ordered more traditional dishes, beef fried rice, pineapple shrimp fried rice, and sweet & sour chicken. No complaints. Food was hot when I made my final stop to eat it. (Took me 25-30 mins to sit to eat). I placed the online order and arrived at the restaurant within 15 mins. I thought I would have to wait, which was understandable, since I had just placed the order. Nope! It was ready. As I mentioned earlier it was still hot when I sat down to eat later. We decided to go with more traditional dishes for take out only because we thought it would take away from the experience at DH and it's easier to get recommendations or explanations from the waitresses. My daughter and I enjoyed it when we dined in. In addition, service is quick. Will most definitely return! read more
