Unfortunately, I had pretty bad luck with receiving good service when I checked this place out. When we first entered, the waitress pointed to a table in the back corner. She asked for hot or iced water and we ordered iced water. After waiting 20 minutes, another man came by and took our order and we had to mention our waters again. The food made up our inattentive introduction to this place. It was very authentic and tasty. Our favorite was the vegetable fried rice! However, our soup dumplings order came out literally 20 minutes we were done with the fried rice, hot and sour soup, and pork dumplings. We had thought there was a mistake since the waitress (who NEVER came to check up on us) gave us our check WITH the order of soup dumplings. When we told her this, she said she would check the kitchen and we finally got our dish after waiting another 10 minutes. I understand they may have been shorthanded in the dining area, but seeing other tables who came in before us get served with food and being checked on was pretty frustrating. The waitress seemed very unorganized and rushed with everything that I do feel bad. But at the same time, I would not be coming back to deal with the same situations. read more

Who doesn't love dumplings!? This place is a great change of pace if you're wanting good Chinese food, but don't want to wait for a table at dim sum. The best part of dim sum is the dumplings anyway! They're currently offering limited dine-in and take out. Unsure about delivery or curbside, since I didn't see anyone providing those services. I wish there had been a little more social distancing since the tables seemed a little too close together, but the staff did the best they could with the limited space and were quick to clean & sanitize tables. My boyfriend and I shared the pork & chives dumplings, the house special buns, and the scallion pancake! It was WAY too much food for the both of us (and the waitress was even like, are you sure?) so make sure to come HUNGRY if you're wanting to get food here. You get 8 pieces per order and they're not small! I love that! The scallion pancake was SO good and for $5, it was literally a steal. It was so crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside! I could have eaten four more of those if there weren't 16 dumplings staring at me... The pork & chives was TO DIE for. We got them steamed, and they were so good. The filling was so flavorful and the skin just melts in your mouth! 10/10 would absolutely recommend. I liked the house special buns, but they weren't as impressive as the dumplings. We got the buns steamed as well, but I'm thinking they probably would have been better if we got them crispy, since it would have given it more texture. The filling inside was good! I would just have preferred 10 more of the pork & chives dumplings. It also comes with dumpling sauce, which is literally the best dumpling sauce I've ever had. Our waitress was so nice and our food came out so quickly! She even gave us our own chili oil and told us to eat what we could, and to take the rest home (very impressed with this method to minimize exposure). The chili oil isn't spicy at all, but it gives a great flavor in addition to the dumplings. I don't think you can go wrong with trying any of the dumplings on the menu! read more

This place has been on my wish list for years and I'm glad that finally went there. Food was super tasty and quick to come out IF your orders reaches to the kitchen. Unfortunately service was not fantastic. I saw an older auntie that was the only person who was serving on Thursday night. She seemed so behind amount of her duties. My husband and I were abandoned for 30 minutes at the table. But I know everywhere you go nowadays have shortage of staff or supplies so I understand so that's why I put 4 stars here. But overall I'll probably go back again. read more

Food is not good. Service isn't good either. I'd be okay with bad service as long as the food is good, sadly that wasn't the case here. The beef roll didn't seem fresh. The wontons weren't as flavorful. The sweet and sour pork had a funky aftertaste. The dandan noodles had good flavor, and the only dish I actually enjoyed, but sadly gave me food poisoning. Will never come back! read more

I had uber delivery my food. Two beef noodle missing beef and Mongolian beef missing beef. A lot of onion was filled in the box. I will never go back again. Very upsetting and pricy order. read more

Everything was good especially the dumplings! We had the fried and the steamed kind and both were delicious. Super juicy inside. We tried these dumplings: 1) basa Fish dumplings (fried) - super good 2) pork and cabbage (steamed) - awesome classic 3) special dumpling 4) chicken and mushroom Other dishes 1) beef burrito (牛肉卷饼）- it was alright. Not the traditional king I'm used to 2) curry chicken noodles - delicious 3) walnut shrimp 4) chicken meat pie - delicious Anyhow super good experience that did not break the bank. Will definitely be returning read more

Excellent Soup Dumplings and fried dumplings. Chicken Lo Mein was delicious. Service slow but worth it! read more

Great food. Reasonable prices. Amazing variety. Great dumplings and potstickers of course but also good lo mein dishes.

Amazing dumplings and buns. The best I have ever had and will always be coming back just for them!

Food was just ok. Nothing wowed me but it wasn't bad. Ordered the soup dumplings, scallion pancake (best choice of the night) and fried rice. Fried rice was the least thing I enjoyed-- super basic, no flavoring really. But the service is what really annoyed me. The older woman seems sweet but the younger guy with the glasses-- just be prepared for LIMITED contact. He was just a body doing the job-- no real hospitality or service skills. read more

No complaints! I arrive starving, and leave full with a huge smile on my face. Service is fast and the ambiance is very homey!!

We used to love going to Dumpling House because the food was good. If you ever try to order takeout, be aware that they stop taking orders 30-45 before they say they're closing. This is now the 3rd time we have called/placed an online order and were told they will not make our food. Should we call earlier- I guess. But I guess they also don't want our business which is always a minimum of $75 order. Also, whoever answered the phone hung up on my husband. After reading more recient reviews, I see that others are also having the same problems. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants with great food and much better customer service. read more

We've enjoyed this place for many years. However, recent experiences ordering online have not been uplifting. Although you provide your name, credit card information, mobile phone number, and email, they can't locate your order when you arrive because you don't have the order number that was not sent to you. Your chastise to get the order number. They were probably 250 Asian restaurants between my home and this restaurant. We've spent thousands of dollars here. If I'm gonna have to go to so much trouble after spending a small fortune for this food, I'll spend it somewhere closer where the service is able to keep track of my order without making me go through a disciplinary revenue as a customer because they don't capture and report the information that we are required to enter to complete our order online. Very disappointing. read more

just now Placed a to-go order & was informed that it will be 15-20mins for chicken & mushroom dumplings (8pcs, steamed) and chicken fried rice. Waited for over an hour to receive the order. I asked to get a refund but was told "only 5 more mins"...I wasn't called 'til 15mins later. Food is good but not worth the wait. No updates from staff about what's going on, some sort of explanation might have changed things. If they were backed up in the kitchen they might've said something prior to me placing an order. read more

I was first introduced to this place when my boss came into town, and ordered lunch for me from here. I have been hooked and eaten from here a couple of times since. Today, I placed an order online for pickup on my way home because I was craving this place and needed to treat myself after a long week. I work in Frisco, live in Garland, and this place is in Plano - so... it's a nice stop on my way home. I took a bite of my scallion pancakes, and they were awesome! Then, I bit into my cabbage buns, and to my horror - they had pork! I have been a vegetarian for 22 years, and eating meat at this point could make me seriously ill. Well, I was already at home in Garland, and called the restaurant to see what they could do to help me. They suggested I go back to the restaurant and they could remake them for me. I told them I just made the 25 minute trip back home and didn't want to make the 25 minute trip back. So, I was at a stalemate.... Then (to my surprise), they asked for my address. After providing it, they said they will deliver my order in 45 minutes! They actually delivered the cabbage buns to me - 19 miles away! Now, I'm a corporate trainer for customer service, and I know when I have been given top notch service. This level of service was epic! I get it... sometimes we make mistakes, but how we handle those mistakes is what determines our character. I will continue to be a strong supporter of this business, and I wish them the best of karma for their amazing actions! read more

I can't believe we hadn't been here sooner! Everything about our experience was 5 Star! The service was great, fast and friendly. Our server even packed up sauces for our leftover food, I think this is something that can often be overlooked at a restaurant. We ordered the signature dumplings, orange chicken, jalapeño chicken lo mien, egg rolls and potato pancakes and everything was delicious! Everything we ordered tasted very fresh. We will definitely be back and highly recommend having a meal there. read more

Bring your appetite, because the food is amazing! It reminds of most mom and pop ran Chinese restaurants, but what sets this one apart is the scrumptious dumplings. We ordered different entrees for the table and just shared them family style. The pork and shrimp dumplings were amazing! Big dumplings stuffed with shrimp, minced pork, and onions then steamed to perfection. The chicken and mushroom dumpling was equally delicious. Our table also shared broccoli chicken (I asked for it to be spicy), and chicken fried rice. These two entrees came with a cucumber and an egg roll. I absolutely loved every dish. I wish there was a dumpling house in Mckinney. I would probably eat there every week. read more

The good: We walked in an hour before they closed and order a ton of dishes so I'm giving them 3 stars for their stellar understanding service they gave. Sadly, most of the dishes we ordered didn't have much flavor. The signature steam buns were good and flavorful. The shrimp and pork dumplings were good. The sauce to dip them in was good. The not so good: Now let's break down the letdowns: the chicken/corn soup is good if you're sick and you need something bland. So it's got that going for it. I ordered the meatball casserole and was given the streaky pork casserole. Sadly, the most flavorful thing in that was somehow the cabbage. We also ordered both the red bean and the custard buns for dessert. Both tasted mostly like buns and severely watered down flavored filling. I LOVE red bean everything so I was really disappointed about that. Everything just seemed watered down...we even ordered rose tea and that lacked flavor. Almost just tasted like warm water (and we let it sit for over 15 minutes before pouring). We ordered a few other dishes but I can't even remember which ones, so that goes to show how memorable they were. Server was great though, she was super patient with us! So thank you for that! I'm glad I finally tried this place but I won't be going back because, sadly, I didn't try anything memorable. read more

Food was good and very authentic. Had several of their dumplings and a beef noodle soup. One if the better options in Dallas for sure, but not as good as Asian places on the coast (NYC, Cali, etc.) read more

Who doesn't like a good dumpling? The menu is huge here- they have a variety of baos, dumplings (steamed and fried), and other dishes not dumpling related. Generally everything is family style, consisting of large portions for everyone to share. I tried their house buns, bok choy, green onion pancakes, pork and shrimp steamed dumplings, and pork and cabbage dumplings. Their house buns are tasty. The dough is soft and chewy and the meat inside is piping hot and flavorful. Looking through their menu, it doesn't look like they have a bbq pork bao, if they did, I'd be all over that. Bok choy was cooked well, it was the healthiest thing I had that evening. Green onion pancakes were large, fried crisp, and had that chewy middle that was full of flavor. The dumplings were large, larger than most places. You get 8 in a serving and they come out hot. Dumplings were good overall, the dough was a good consistency and the insides were cooked well. I think most of the stuff is made to order, so the stuff made in a pan came out first, the stuff that required steaming came out last. Service is so-so. During drink orders, once he heard two people say "water", he took off without listening to others, who actually wanted soda. Then the refills for water were non-existent unless you asked, just FYI. Other than that though, it was ok. 3.5 to 4 stars for me. Gonna lean on 4 because those green onion pancakes were legit. read more

Portions are huge; I think our buns came in order of 8. This isn't the small portion dim sum many of us are use to. This is like family size portions! We had the steamed buns, walnut shrimp, chicken and lettuce wraps, spring rolls, wonton soup, onion pancakes, and another kind of bun (w pork and shrimp). Overall food was good but I wasn't knocked off my socks. When our steamed buns came out, it was so hot it fell apart when we tried to pick it up. The honey walnut shrimp was much smaller portion than we imagined and it was $16! The onion pancakes weren't thin like I'm use to, they were quite thick and "doughy". Won ton soup was good and everything else was good but not memorable. I would come back but probably order way less food read more

Service was spotty. Good at times but lacking in others. Really disappointed that they were out of XLB (Xiao Long Bao), but they took our order and never brought it out. Once we inquired about it they then informed us they were out. 30 minutes after taking the original order. Dumplings were great, Shen Jian Bao was also very good. The beef noodle soup lacked flavor and spice but was decent. Overall not bad but not having XLB and telling us that you did when we ordered makes this a 3/5 experience. read more

Enjoyable meal of authentic dumplings in an inviting atmosphere. Staff was very helpful.

The food is a 5/5, but the service and the owners make it a -5. I've eaten at this place about 6-8 times in the past 3 years, and I've already had my yelp review removed by the owner before due to "violating terms of service" since I discussed my parent's experience instead of mine in one of my reviews. Just so everyone knows, I've eaten here multiple times, and I cannot handle how inconsistent the service+food are depending on who I'm seated with. It looks like when I speak English and am with non-East Asian people, not only do I get better service, I also get better food. MY VISIT YESTERDAY: THE GOOD: Super authentic and mouth savoring with every bite. The buns were hot and fresh, with lots of 'soup' in every bite. We received drink refills and really timely check ins with our waiter. Our waiter was really patient when we were deciding what to order. I was able to have a 45 minute dinner with my friend. WITH A NON-ASIAN FRIEND. MY VISIT TODAY: My most recent visit was with my parents today and it was terrible. A couple of HUGE misses: 1) I ordered the exact same dish (house signature Sheng Jian Bao) from yesterday and the quality was significantly worse. The flavor was bland, there was no soup, and it was under-fried. Often times, the meat is raw and not cooked (they've had this problem for many years and refuse to address it - it's been inconsistent) This has happened probably 40% of the time I've eaten here, and half the time, the staff angrily grab the plate and recook it a bit longer without an apology. The other times, depending on who I'm seated with, they're apologetic and have comped us a dish before. 2) We were rushed out within 10 minutes of us receiving our food. The waiter gave us 6 take out boxes when we were just having our first bite. When my dad kindly noted that to the waiter, she snapped at us "well fine, we'll just take the leftover take out boxes! I always give everyone a bunch". The table next to us was asked how many take out boxes they wanted and she only gave one... 3) 5 minutes later after handing us the take out boxes, She handed us the check. I was on my 2nd bun. We were completely rushed out. So feel free to eat here if you want to play russian roulette with service and food quality. read more

My friend recommended me this place and after looking at their menu online and spotting lots of vegetarian options, I decided to give it a try! It's in an odd location, you can't see it from the streets so you just gotta trust the Google Maps!! My friend and I ordered four things total- green onion pancakes, string beans minus the pork, hot and sour soup, and a tofu clay pot. The green onion pancakes were amazing- a good size portion and unlike a lot of places, they actually put A LOT of green onions inside. The hot and sour soup was good too- lots of stuff inside, however I do wish it was spicy. It also did come out warm and not hot like soup should be. The string beans were my favorite- so flavorful!!! And the tofu clay pot reminded me of a small hot pot- it came with glass noodles, woodear mushroom, shiitake mushroom, taro, napa cabbage, and soft tofu! The flavor was very light, but I loved the abundance of stuff they put inside. The portions were pretty large considering the price. Four things for $30 is pretty good (and I had leftovers!) Next time, I'm definitely going to try their dumplings. They have a few vegetarian options... so I'm excited to try them! read more

Good location, service is mediocre but quick. Ordered the house special dumplings, pan fried basa fish dumplings, steamed pork and scallop dumplings, and the scallion pancakes. We also got the fried custard for dessert. Portions are large so it was way too much food for the two of us, but the food is easily reheatable so it made for a nice lunch the next day. The wrapping on the dumplings is a bit thick, but probably due to them being handmade. I enjoyed the fish dumplings and the scallion pancakes the most. The house special dumplings lacked flavor in the filling. The pork and scallop dumplings were decent, but too chewy. They don't have any sauces except for soy sauce and chili, but you can ask for ginger and vinegar which helps break up the flavors. The menu is huge, so I do want to go back to try some of their other dishes. read more

Excellent service. Broad menu. Very pleased with the green bean entree and Singapore noodles. Above average soup dumplings. Recommended.

Arrived shortly after opening, it was pretty empty but quickly filled up within 15 minutes. I wasn't impressed with the buns or dumplings - I might be a little bias in my judgement because I lived in Atlanta... where the dumplings are bomb.com. Everything was just bland to the point of me requesting sweet chili sauce .... P.S the drinks are can drinks for $2 ... totally over priced. read more

I didn't think that dumplings could taste this bad but I was wrong. Ordered four dumpling dishes and they were all terrible. The filling had no taste. The wrapper was hard and chewy like rubber.
