The donuts were very light and airy so after finishing a half dozen I didn't feel overwhelmed by the sweetness nor did I feel heavy (easily could have had another half dozen ). Every donut I order was very soft. They all have the same base so they taste similar but also different which made it hard determine my favorite donut. The service was okay. They were both nice and friendly, but you can tell they were bored which is understandable since it wasn't super busy when we came in so they didn't have much personality when they were interacting with us. They also have pre made donut styles for people like me who need structure lol. I noticed why a lot of people were eating their donuts as soon as it was handed over, you are literally getting a steaming hot donut they want you want it! My Bf got the blueberry pancake and maple bacon. Donuts were piping hot when they came out, size in on the smaller size so can easily eat two of them. My donut wasn't too sweet, like how didn't over sauced it with marshmallow. Tried a bit of my BFs donut as well, the blueberry pancake was a bit sweet, but with good blueberry sauce. I walked in holding my service animal and the first thing the counter lady said to me was we don't allow dogs. I just turned around and left, i'm pretty sure most people know at this point in time that animals are not allowed in a lot of places without them being service animals. Which my dog is. The associate at the counter walked me through how to select the donuts for my half-dozen and gave me recommendations based on popularity and seasonality. I used my 10% off coupon (thanks Yelp check-in!) and purchased six freshly made donuts for $13.05. I waited about 10 minutes for them to be ready, and it was well worth it. We loved our selections and were pleasantly surprised at the density and creaminess of their cake donut base. I like taking whats from the menu because it's already good! First: the customer service is superb. I've been there 3 times and never seen a frowning employee, super nice, very attentive and QUICK! Second: the donuts....oh my gosh so good and fresh. Just ask for a half dozen variety and taste them all. I love a classic glazed with rainbow chips. Seems like a good barometer to assess a donut no? But I also like all the creative ones too. And it all really comes down to the dough and the fact that it's fresh. Usually cake donuts get stale or are heavy but these have a delicious it factor. It was not overwhelmed with a bunch of glaze not was it overly sweet. I would recommend their chocolate old fashion. Soooooo good!!! What makes them so special? The fact that they make the donuts fresh to order! I didn't know it would make such a difference but it really does! I also like how you can custom make your donut. We chose a strawberry glaze with chocolate sprinkles and maple drizzle. It was delicious! We split the donut between the two of us and it was plenty of sugar...although they are so good it's easy to eat one on your own. But that's a little too much sugar for us. They also have suggested donut flavors that I was able to try at a tasting event. I tried the blueberry glaze and that was also very good. During the holiday there are seasonal flavors like chocolate mint that is also very good! I came back suuupppeer early in the morning and got a 5 star experience (mainly because this parking lot SUCKS usually, but this time no one was there.) The quality of donuts were still just as good but I enjoyed these donuts more because the icings were warmer and therefore thinner. Last time, I commented that these donuts were too sweet because the icing was way too thick. I hope they make sure to keep the icing warmed and thin consistently. You can create your own which can be intimidating at first especially if other people are waiting behind you BUT for your convenience they have pre-flavors to easily select from. My boyfriend had the lemon and raspberry combo which he loved and for chocolate and vanilla (and added caramel) for me which was a perfect trifecta!). Now that I know what to expect, I can't wait until next time when we can be more adventurous with our own flavors/toppings. Wow, this place is amazing. I've been to so many donut shops that I can probably make a comprehensive list. Duck Donuts has something special - their donuts are made to order and are served WARM! We tried the mint chocolate, smores, the boardwalk, and the Oreo crumble. All 4 were amazing, and my favorite was the mint chocolate. Great flavor combinations and great texture! Service is also really nice. I asked about the origin of the name, as well as some other questions, and the person helping me out was very friendly. They also have merchandise! We went with selecting the ones from the menu as it was my first time trying this place. We went with 6 different flavors to share with 3 people: 1. Glazed with holiday sprinkles - classic especially during the holidays 2. Blueberry pancake - Really excited about this one and it did not disappoint! 3. Midnight madness - probably my least favorite but still tasty! just a bit too chocolatety for my liking 4. Maple icing with salted caramel drizzle - couldn't really taste the salted caramel drizzle but still enjoyed this one cause who doesn't like maple? 5. Pumpkin roll - it was a good mix of pumpkin flavor and icing. I was worried the pumpkin flavor was going to be overpowering, but it wasn't! Reminded me of Thanksgiving 6. There are no words to express how excited I was to see a "Duck Donuts" come up in my Yelp search while looking for donuts in Irvine, CA! I first learned about Duck Donuts years ago when I was visiting friends and family in Maryland. In addition to this location at the Irvine Trade Food Hall, there is a Duck Donuts in Huntington Beach. According to the company's website, the chain started in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in Duck and Kitty Hawk and it's now in 25 states, making its move out West with another in Encinitas. What I love about Duck Donuts is they create their donuts fresh and made-to-order. You basically start with a plain vanilla cake doughnut made in house. Then you can add a coating, a topping and a drizzle. You can customize your own or choose one of their speciality selections. I ordered a Blueberry Pancake, Bacon in the Sun and a French Toast. Yes I ate all three by myself - donut judge me. It was cheat day :) All three donuts were amazing and highly recommended by employee Bella who was super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Duck donuts are reasonably priced. Parking is a bit challenging as it's shared with the other shops and restaurants in the plaza. I can't wait to go back and try more of their speciality donuts and to even customize my own. Duck Doughnuts was at a Yelp Elite event I attended. We got to sample many different doughnuts. They were delicious. They said at the store your doughnuts are maid fresh to order. Well here I am. I ordered a half dozen. I have two maple bacon, two chocolate iced with marshmallow, and two chocolate iced with Oreo crumble. I couldn't wait to eat them so I devoured them there. These are the best doughnuts I've ever eaten. They were hot, fresh and melted in my mouth. I think the bacon was my favorite since even the bacon was fresh. Don't let your doughnuts cool. You need the experience of eating hot fresh heavenly doughnuts. Grab napkins because they are messy because they are hot and fresh. Since I lack creativity, I chose the maple bacon and the blueberry....my first bite was amazing, my second bite was amazing... amazing to the very last one!! Great little spot for freshly made donuts and coffee by the USC OC campus. Have been here a few times for a brain snack and this place has yet to disappoint.
