Ok, I 100% recommend for a semi (or totally) drunk, late night pizza/wing order. The wings are GREAT. Like, fantastic, even when you're sober. Some of my favorite wings in DC let alone favorite wings when it's midnight and you're craving some delivery. Not at all classic pizza but, again, amazing pizza when it's late and you NEED pizza delivered to your place ASAP. Also, the drivers and staff are lovely! I've always had a great experience with this place. That said, I would totally recommend ordering online/getting pick-up for some late night food/snacks. OBSESSED with pizza. 1) I've only visited during the day, usually when they first open or no more than 3 hours after they open. 2) when I think of a "cheat meal" pizza, THIS is what I am thinking of. Why do people think this place is good?! It's not even remotely close to good!! Simply put, this is probably the worst pizza I've had. In addition to the high price I paid for a jumbo slice, the pizza I received was rough. The major problems I had with this pizza was that it was drenched with oil, and the cheese just ran off the pizza as soon as I lifted it in the air. While the staff seems friendly, I had to wait at the window for about 15 minutes before anyone came and took my order. I also asked for a side of ranch and received a packet of salad dressing which was disappointing as well. I will not be returning... it's not good. read more

There is a reasonable argument to be made to our Duccinis as the best, but I think Pizza Mart out does them. I have held this opinion for years, held Duccini's as an adequate jumbo slice place I'd like to not see disappear after the pandemic is over. With that in mind I solicited the business. First off, there were two people using masks as chin straps (one working at the restaurant and the other a customer [everyone was cool with it, made me uncomfortable in that small space]). I don't go to restaurants often during the pandemic but when places don't take it seriously, it's not okay. Already dissatisfied with the lack of covid precautions, I was really annoyed when they got my order wrong. I order a jumbo slice with chicken and bell peppers. They charged $10, which I thought was much, but fine. I waited for ten minutes and they brought out a messed up order. I continued to wait and they brought out what looked like the same chicken pizza that was salmonella adjacent and tossed on bell peppers that had not been cooked at all. I ordered a giant slice with Pepperoni and Sausage, and I threw on some pepper flakes, parmesan, and also some oregano. Man was it delicious!!! It came piping hot fresh out of the oven, I had to eat it piece by piece in the beginning & then when I got halfway through, I was finally able to pick it up and shovel it down with my own two hands, thankfully I was able to grab a seat inside. I have read several reviews were people have complained about the courtesy of the driver. My driver was outstanding! I ordered out from here while staying at a hotel in Washington DC. The hotel is packed as was the drop off area for guests in front. The driver called me, and we met out in the loop with no difficulty whatsoever. I ordered a pepperoni pizza as well as some cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were average at best, but the pizza was really good. Placed a delivery order which was super difficult because the person on the phone could not understand or Hear what I was saying. I went with a medium pizza with half cheese and half with pepperoni. The pizza was okay and that was a stretch. I was starving so I'd eat just about anything. Well, not actually, because I also order the butter garlic wings and those were horrible. At two because I was thinking the second one may be better than the first one....but nope, they were both horrible. With so many jumbo slice pizza options in Adams Morgan, and with most in a drunken state and don't really care what they are eaten, I've taken it upon myself to really truly see which has the best jumbo slice in Adam's Morgan while sober now that I live in this neighborhood. Pizza Mart the Original, Jumbo Slice Pizza the brother of Pizza Mart's owner with his own recipe, Boli's the Chain, and Duccini's are the major players vying to get the business of late night drunk Adams Morgan crowd looking to get a jumbo slice. These jumbo slices come out super hot out of the oven, hotter than the surface of the sun, and on more than one occasion have I seen a drunken person bite into it instantly and get burned. I feel for those who have to wake up to second degree burns in their mouth, that cannot be fun. So for those who don't know, let it cool down for a bit unless you enjoy pain! For those wondering (I was), Pizza Mart was the original and the one who started the infamous jumbo slice in Adam's Morgan. I have seen this jumbo slice concept make it as far as Colombia, in South America, and my friend even told me that someone has recently opened a jumbo slice joint in Paris, of all places (the funny thing is, their "jumbo slice" is the size of a NY large pizza slice, which is jumbo to Parisians). Anyways, onto the pizza slice from Duccini's. Whereas the other jumbo slices I have had in AM were greasy, floppy, and ultimately tasty, Duccini's was the best of them because they actually toast the bottom part of the pizza dough, making it charred and crispy. This is what separates Duccini's from the other jumbo slices. You get a nice satisfying crunch when you take a bite, similar to NY pizza joints. The bottom crispyness of the pizza makes all the difference, and the tomato sauce is also good. I am crowning Duccini's as the best jumbo slice in Adam's Morgan. Duccini's is not on 18th street though so I do not fear of this place of overcrowding like the other jumbo slice places, as the drunken crowd will stumble around like a zombie to the closest pizza they will find, which will probably be Jumbo Slice Pizza, Pizza Mart, or Pizza Bolis. read more

Being an overnight essential employee during a pandemic is already stressful enough, but when a place you've ordered from for years drops the ball, it really saddens me. I ordered a Chicken Gyro and Pizza Fries. Ordering was hard due to the language barrier but we got through it. Order was delivered by the exact time the woman gave me over the phone. Less than 5 min after the delivery driver left, I opened the bag during my break at work. I started with the pizza fries which were tasty. Once I got to the Gyro, I noticed there was a long blonde strand of hair wrapped around the custom ordered entree. I immediately called them to notify them and to see what could be done. The woman, Shewa, became very defensive. First off, she should have apologized, even if I was dead wrong (which I'm not). She never did. Shewa continued to be defensive and offered no real or real-time solution to the problem. She said she was just a cashier, but once I asked for the manager, she's now Assistant Manager Shewa. Finally she stated that she would send the delivery driver back out here to pick up the food so that she can inspect it. Before providing me with a refund. Nobody has come back to get the food. I can guarantee you I'll be running around trying to contact the manager when they could have offered the option to remake my food. They never did. Now I used to be an AGM at a $3M fine dining restaurant in the DC area. And she did not handle this well at all. She wasn't even fake empathetic. I now work in a very popular DC hotel and overnight. Numerous guests come to me and ask for delivery recommendations. I will be throwing Duccini's Menus out every chance I get and I will NOT mention them during my recommendations. During a pandemic, with hair near or around my food, she became defensive. She didn't offer a real solution. I should take this up with the board of health. Shewa Shewa Shewa. I'm a bald black man, working overnight by myself. You could have done so much better. There's freaking hair near my food. Play with me if you want to.
