I love this nail salon! D and Shelly are wonderful owners. The salon is very clean and the staff are always professional. I had been to may nail salons before and the last one I went to allowed two of my finger nails to get a fungus underneath. I decided to go to D's one day and Shelly took care of me, and helped me get rid of the fungus. Shelly had to actually take two of the acrylic nails off and cut the nails down to help get rid of the fungus. I am happy to say that after two months, the fungus is gone, thanks to Shelly. My first visit. I was matched up with a mature nail technician. I received a pedicure and a mani. The mani was fine. Went well, all was good. I asked for the powder type manicure. She asked if I wanted the nail straight across and flat, I said no I would like it rounded a bit. That was a big mistake because she grounded down the nail of one of my fingers on the side into my skin. The side of my finger hurt for a week or more and my skin peeled off. I have had a wonderful experience at D's Nails the many times I've been, all except once, but I believe that was due to an inexperienced nail technician that took entirely too long to do a mediocre job. Otherwise, I've had nothing but positive experiences here. This is definitely my place. I recommend calling ahead of time to see when is the best time to come. Walking in is not your best bet as they can get very busy, but when I call they are always eager and willing to let me know what time is best. Friendly staff that remembers you and your name... means a lot. Quality work. They're even willing to help me pick my color which I'm always horrible and time consuming at but the owner is always very willing to help with any and all needs or concerns. They explain everything fully and give multiple options. Every time I go in when they're not busy, they are doing things to improve their business such as creating new books with color options, more inexperienced technicians are practicing, and they are always cleaning and doing everything they can to maintain a well kept, relaxing environment. Took my son's girlfriend to have her nails done. She was so excited , they looked amazing ... until they didn't. Cost $80 which to me was high but I'm fine as long as quality is good. Her nails started to fall off 3 days after they were done and by the end of the week they had all fell off. I could have got some press on nails for $10 at Sally's if I only wanted them to last a couple of days. The plan was just to have a fill in before school started but now they are all off. read more

My daughter have been coming here for the last 3x and there has always been a problem. But this last time, she asked for one pedicure and then they did another and charged her more than what she asked and said oops I its $20 more. This is the best and most family-oriented salon I've been to since I've lived in Birmingham. The owners and staff treat us all like family. I've been to salons where I've had an appointment and was skipped by customers who came in demanding they didn't want to wait. I've patronized D's for at least 2 years and have always gotten nothing but respect. My grandmother was sick and they showed genuine. When she's there, they care for her as if she's their own grandmother. She won't go anywhere else, and neither will I! read more

This has to be the best nail salon I have every been to. The staff was awesome and took their time doing my pedicure. My toe nail was chipped and she glue it back together so that I could still get my French Tips. I could not have been more pleased with all the staff and their service. I have found my favorite nail salon and I will be back. She also made my French Tip very thin not thick, which I love. More than anything the staff is very friendly. They actually take their time to do great work here. Unlike other places that rush through to get to the next patron which result in quick chipping of the nail polish. At D's Nails, I experienced true quality. The massage of hands and feet was also not rushed through. The nail polish stayed on for a very long time without chipping because they take time to apply correctly. Expect to spend longer time here to be pampered. Without a doubt the BEST nail salon I have ever been to. Hands down! I'm never going anywhere else.

I go here on a regular basis usually during the week and have been happy all but once. This time I went this past Saturday morning about 10:20 am. People were waiting because there were not enough employees to take care of the customers. There were empty chairs for pedicures. I waited an hour and a half before someone helped me. A middle aged male was doing my pedicure and he was so busy looking around at what else was going on that he paid no attention to what he was doing. He was scrubbing my callouses and kept missing and scrubbing my foot because he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. A woman was training two young men how to do pedicures and he was all into that. He massaged one foot the other he just kept putting lotion between my toes. He never massaged my legs. I still have callouses, I have cuticle skin around my nails, and the ends of my toenails aren't even painted. This is the worst pedicure I've ever had! He didn't know that I'm an excellent tipper usually $10 on a $28 pedicure and in cash. He got $5 which is twice as much as I should have given him. This is the second time I have had to wait over an hour and a half for a pedicure because of employee shortage. As much as I like this place I don't think I'll wait that long again to be treated like I was. read more

Have used this salon since they opened, but I probably will not go back. I have not been 100% happy for various reasons, but today made me search for a new salon. I waited 45 minutes to have my gel nails soaked off, and I got up to go to restroom. When I returned they had taken two people ahead of me. These people came in at least 10 minutes after me!
