This was my first time using Lee and I was very impressed. He has many years of experience doing nails. I was going to someone else, but she moved. I always enjoyed his conversations with his customers. I usually put on my headphones, but we talk the whole time. He is so friendly and professional. I highly suggest making an appointment with him because he is usually booked. He has been there for many years and has a good clientele base. I stopped by this salon before traveling for work bc my regular salon was already closed. There was an older lady who initially started my gel manicure and after she nicked my cuticles 3 times, I couldn't allow her to continue doing my nails. The manager then had the lady who sits near the register to do my nails and I thought she was the most friendliest person. She was very thorough and seemed pretty precise with my French tip. Sadly 3 days later, my nails started to peel and chip. This never happens to me! I can usually get away with going 3 weeks without getting my nails done and I never have to deal with it chipping, BUT this is from my regular salon. I went back in that weekend when I made it back from my work trip and she redid 4 of my nails. Well, here I am a week later and it looks like o have regular polish on my nails. From the clear polish peeling completely off to the French tip chipping. Needless to say, that will be the very last time I visit Nail Star. I will add that the overall ambiance was inviting and everything appeared to be clean. read more

If you ever want to pay for a set of nails that makes babies cry this is the place. First off I made an appointment then waited for my requested nail tech from this My nail tech was not even half way through with a previous client. I waited and then he fit me in but as he slowly buffed each nail he would leave to do the previous clients nails. Then I asked for minor design and with me simply asking for the most easiest of designs i got redirected to another tech but little did I know this tech had clearly just learned and by learned I mean acknowledges the design but compared to a three year old it would be a close race. Lastly my nails had specs of dirt and I tried to expose the crap like job but i guess these techs can't see a black spec on white polish. My total consisted of $82.00, the most amount of money I've ever paid for nails that would go into my memory as the worst set ever. If you like to pay high prices for a grotesque and shitty nail job then come here. read more

I don't like leaving reviews like this but I come here a lot and it's always a hit or miss. My nails end up looking so good and last for a long time or I leave disappointed, and the past year my nails have looked nothing but bad despite all the chances I've given them. I got a gel acrylic fill-in and the lady who did my nails today seemed as if she was in a rush and didn't even care to make my nails even or clean up the polish left around my nails, there were also bubbles left on my nails. She filed my nails AFTER the gel polish was on my nails so now the sides have no polish. With the prices they charge you would think they would be a little bit more consistent. And the "student discount" is a joke, $1 off? You might as well make it full priced. read more

I get a decent pedicure. Brow wax is good. 2.5 weeks ago I got a manicure and a full set because I was trying to quit biting my nails. He put on the tips, clipped them down and filed. My son was with me and we were talking and I noticed the powder was colored and not clear. He called it a "Healthy Nail. Looked great until I got to the checkout and it was significantly more than acrylic or gel nails. I believe my total was around $95 for a mani pedi, full set with Healthy Nails and brows. I was very surprised. Next time I'm gonna specify. That's IF I ever go there again because my whole thumb tip and polish just fell off He told me it would be 4 months. I'm just gonna have them taken off at a new nail salon. I'm a single mother on disability. I can't afford those prices. read more

I have always had great service and the people there have always been nice. I will be back for my next manicure.

My first visit to Nail Star was initially fine until about 3 days later my nails started to come completely off. I went back the following Sunday to get them repaired to find out that person that did my nails was not a normal worker there. Instead of replacing all of the nails a different person replaced the nails that came off and told me not to mess with the other nails or they lift. She told me to come back at 6:30 to get my nails polished by the first person to get the correct color. They nail salon closed at 6 that day which I found out because I decided to go back early. The first person was never there so I had to basically choose the closest color to match. The experience was not as I expected. Everything was rushed and I did not feel like a valued customer. read more

Today, the lady doing my gel manicure insisted on "cutting my cuticles" so I eventually let her.. she ended up cutting the skin on the sides of my fingers leaving them red & swollen. I had an appointment for manicure and pedicure. When we arrived, Lana said that they were too busy and had too many people in the facility to meet their obligation and to come back (that will probably not happen). Lana said she called, but that is not correct. Best if you just walk-in and hope for the best. I understand trying to increase revenue following the COVID-19 closure, but they probably have violated their social distancing requirements by the licensure board. I think it depends on which nail tech you get, but I got someone who literally painfully ripped my acrilycs off my nails, tried to pressure me multiple times into getting a more expensive manicure, cut one of my nails into the quick, and then filed one my nails weirdly and too roundly so then I got a painful ingrown nail. Oh, and I got a regular manicure with regular polish and it was 28 dollars without a tip. read more

This was my second time here. I went once before to get my nails removed, and I went back yesterday to get a full set! I wanted something cute for my courthouse wedding coming up! something classic, and timeless! I showed him the first picture since I wanted the flowers on my ring fingers and a classic French nail on my other fingers. I wanted the underlay of the ring fingers to be a nude color as well. I am African American so my "nude" is different from a non- person of color's "nude". he is automatically very rough with my hands and seems to be in a big rush. he finishes my first hand and I do not like it at all! definitely not what I asked for....I don't know about y'all but this does not look like the reference I showed, and the "nude" color is pink! I vocalized that I do not like my nails and would like to change them. he got upset and said that he'll have to take it all off....I said "okay that's fine I will pay for it but I do not like these" he got upset and started speaking another language that I did not understand, but I could tell he was talking about me....he asked the lady what to do and she said they can put a gel color over it but it'll be an extra cost. I said that's fine because at this point I'm just ready to leave! he hands me the gel colors to choose from. I chose 2 colors....a nude and red to hopefully cover the awful French tip. he says "oh 2 colors is $10 more" like really?! y'all I'm still upset. so it comes time to do the flowers and he pulls out NAIL STICKERS!!!!! I'm guessing he couldn't do simple nail art in a flower shape? So he tried pulling a fast one on me. I don't see any nail sticker I would've been interested in. He calls another lady over and she honestly saved the day she was very gentle and nice! I did leave a tip (which I wish I carried cash because I would've handed the money right to her!) I will not be going back, my total was wayyyyy more than I expected. he didn't even bother to clean up the color underneath....I need to stop going to salons and find a nail tech who perfects their craft! thank you read more

I have gone to this nail star for years but today I was treated so poorly for a mistake that they made and will not step foot back in there. The credit card machine was having trouble therefore my card was swiped twice. no worries. Sometimes mistakes happen but when I told them that I had been charged twice and showed them my bank account they still did not believe me. They wanted to swipe my card again and when I refused she caused such a scene and would not give me my card until she talked to my bank. Not only did I show her my bank account, let her hear the automated machine that told her there were 3 transactions from her salon, she still wanted to talk to my bank. Finally I got a represented on the phone to tell her what I had already told her and shown her to be true. That is the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time when all along it could have easily been fixed. I even offered to come back first thing in the morning if it was reversed and she didn't receive payment. I didn't even get an apology for how she treated me. I will never step foot back in that place no matter how good they are. I have always been pleased with the nails but the way she treated me today should not happen to anyone. read more

I only went here because my friend loved it and was a little bit cheaper and closer to where I live. One time the worker yelled at me for telling him I didn't want the specific design he gave me. He said "that's what you showed me" and what he did, looked nothing like the picture. He yelled at me while I was a couple days fresh out of my ankle surgery and my sister took me there to relax and get out of the house. They made my fingers bleed twice and are so rude. The only person that was good was Roger. He is not working anymore. That should say something. I won the raffle for the $10 certificate/discount. I came to pick up the certificate and the young lady said "you need to apply it when you make an appointment", but on their instagram, it says we can either pick it up or make an appointment. Why would they put that as an option if it bothered them so much? And then the lady started mumbling in an angry tone. I will never use it and it was such of a waste of time and money coming here. I dislike this place so much that I put in more effort into this review more than I do in my college essays:) read more

My nails are cut uneven painfully short on one side l, nail polish left all over my toes and parts of my nails not even painted. Horrible customer service when you call to complain. Today they charged me $15 for designs that they did with washable paint from the dollar store. They had 3 different people do the design of a simple flower and it still did not look like the picture I was showing. But I happened to go to this salon first, and I knew right away I'd found an even better salon than the great one I went to in Atlanta.
