I searched the local FB pages for recommendations and found that JR Nails had opened a few months ago. Rodger and Joann had previously been at another shop and gotten great reviews, so that's why I picked JR Nails. We were able to make a same-day appointment, but they also welcome walk-ins. When we arrived, there was one client getting a pedicure, and Joann and Rodger were ready for us. Another client walked in after we started, and they got to her pretty quickly, too. There is a large TV on one wall to watch, and signs indicating they had wifi available, but unless you're getting a pedicure, there's no reason or time to be on your phone. Another sign indicated that several beverages are available on request. The color choices were vast, and they give you the swatches from which to choose while they set up. All three staff worked quickly and efficiently. Even with the other two clients there, we were out in about an hour. At the front desk, they also offered us a piece of chocolate before we left. I'm trying to get my nails back in presentable order, and they've made me self-conscious lately. I walked out super happy with how they look and will return more often to get them done.

I made an appointment and arrived to see three people working very hard. Ms. Tina greeted me and told me to pick out a nail color. She completed my manicure and started on my pedicure. She took calls and booked appointments in between but I never felt neglected. I was comfortable with her and she even fixed an area on a nail and didn't get upset when I pointed it out. Her son finished my pedicure and saw a problem area and suggested a product. He even found it on his phone to show me so I would know exactly what to purchase. Very pleasant experience.

We decided to give this new salon a try. I went with my daughters right upon open on a Saturday…read moremorning. The place was gorgeous with beautiful decor, bright light, and a friendly welcome from staff. They have a snack and drink bar with a variety for kids and adults. They have probably around 20 pedicure chairs and 10+ manicure chairs. They also do microblading, waxing, and more. I got a gel mani/pedi and it was fine. My girls got their nails painted and the staff were very patient with them. The guy who did my nails didn't do a great job with my gel, but when I got ready to leave, the owner noticed the somewhat sloppy job and had me sit down to fix it. She was so kind about it and even pointed out their 10 day satisfaction policy (in which they will fix their work for free within 10 days of service). I assume the guy who did my nails may have been newer to the profession. The owner (Tee I believe is her name?) was so so kind and expressed that she wouldn't have let me leave with my nails looking the way they had before she fixed them. I was so happy with her customer service and with my nails once she fixed them. Will definitely be going back! Thank you to Tee!

Went in for a simple manicure. I should have walked out when I saw that all of their nail polishes…read morewere old. Not just liquid at the top old but dust on them old. The woman doing my nails didn't file them properly (one side smooth and the other not even touched after being cut) and another woman had to step in to file them. She went after some parts of my cuticles like they had insulted her yet left other parts untouched. The hangnails after this are impressive. When she started painting them the polish wasn't smooth. It was so thick it was like a puffy nail polish. I got up to look and see if there was another color that was good from a newer bottle. She came over to take off the polish on the two nails she had done and used a dry paper towel. I just left. When I got home and looked at my nails I noticed she didn't even fully take off the clear polish I came in with. My manicure here has me doing my nails at home. Definitely will not be back.

Okay so i will be completely honest in this review. Theres some pros and cons to this nail salon…read morebut honestly, I've just accepted the fact that no nail salons in the Calera/Alabaster area fit my expectations and thats okay.. Pros: The man who did my nails did an amazing job. Shaped them the way i wanted and colored them nicely... Cons: Messy aftermath and confusing prices. When i looked at the price list, it said $12 for a color change on toes and 17&up on fill in. Okay cool, im thinking im walking out of there not paying over $40 for a gel fill-in and color change (I know that gel is usually $10-$15 up charge). Lets do the math, 17+15+12= 44 at most. I got charged $51 for a fill in and toe nail change and im a bit confused why? I maybe shouldve asked but regardless, Ill just drive to further location for a nail service, i kinda feel robbed.. ALSO, theres a 3% charge on debit card users? Maybe thats where a little of the extra money came from? I dont know but its weird to me...

While…read moreI was VERY unhappy with my experience there, I will have to say the younger gentleman that usually does the pedicures, does a great job, he is kind, careful and makes sure you're comfortable. The ladies that work there are ok, they do a good job, if you just want tips and paint, anything beyond that is shaky ground. The man is horrible!!! He can put nails on, and if you can overlook his bad attitude, you may walk out satisfied. I did that, the 1st time, now the 2nd time went a little differently...a person that's paying for a service can only take so much. When it got to the point he is basically throwing my hands around, "NO" being his answer to everything, (I asked if he could marble one of my nails, btw marbling isn't that hard) and telling me to hurry up and pick my color, he didn't have time to wait on me to look at the different colors, just pick one! Then got up said some jibber jabber I couldn't understand and walked to the back of the store, where the door was opened and I guess he was having a cigarette, and just left me sitting there. The younger guy finished my nails, he was nice. This paint they basically picked and I was just like ok, ended up making me want to throw up every time I looked at my nails, so I had to go to Kim in Montevallo and have them repainted and pay for that, but it was so worth it! Been going there every since. Back to the review; so when the guy was finished and I was in line to pay, which if I had it to do again, I would've just walked out and left. The old one waltzes up front and I was livid by this point, so I gave my opinion and a couple of suggestions. Still payed $44, didn't get an apology, discount, nothing...well I did get a lesson...when ppl show you who they are, believe them the 1st time. Also, if you want something other than a paint job and bad attitude, go to Nail Star in Montevallo Kim & Sue are GREAT!
