I was in for a nail change color and John was my nail tech. He has helped me before and always seems anxious, but today, I was highly disappointed. He pulled on my arm and fingers over and over again, saying "Relax" and he didn't have the cushion that allows your arm to rest, so it was very uncomfortable. I have arthritis in my fingers and it's very hard for me to "relax" my fingers. I told him that, but it didn't seem like he was concerned. The other staff is always kind, but this will be my last time to visit. I asked for my nails to be trimmed and he cut them down very short also. Very Overpriced for the service I received today. Disappointed to say the least. read more

One of the worst most sloppy gel manicures I've ever gotten. It was rushed, lumpy, terrible looking. The person was rude and literally spent 15 minutes on the entire gel manicures Start to finish. read more

I've been coming to Royal nails for over 4 years and always love it. The nail tech John should not work here. Every single time I get him he constantly is yanking on my arms and hands and is extremely aggressive with this. I had to tell him multiple times today to stop pulling on my arm. He is also consistently huffing and puffing because of the way he is sitting. I believe he also takes an extended amount of time doing an SNS color change than it should. He is always extremely rude to me, aggressive with the arm and hand yanking, and in an unprofessional mood. For the record every other employee is fantastic besides John in the back right corner. read more

A great, CLEAN place to be. The service was on par, and this is a very professional place. My sister and I got our nails done here the other day, and they really did exactly what we wanted. I was very pleased with the pricing as other places are much more expensive. This was super relaxing and overall a very good experience. read more

I went to get my nails done here last week before a big work event. When I sat down, the original nail tech was confused on what I was wanting. The Owner stepped in and made sure I was taken care of and that my dip ombré nails were to my liking and made me feel better about the whole thing before my big night. I am new to the area and will continue to come here because of that. Would recommend!!! read more

I went here to get my nails fixed from where 'Nail Vogue' destroyed them. They were extremely nice and welcoming. They offered me water, soda ect. My nail techs name was David I believe. He asked me exactly what I needed done and he understood my request. There was a small wait but it was worth it. He needed up adding acrylic to the set I already had and he fixed my broken nail. He gave me a discount on my gel after I told him about how I JUST paid for a full set the day before. At the end of my visit I was extremely satisfied and I will be returning. read more

Frequent Paws and Claws visitors! This place wins on overall service! Recently moved back to Birmingham after my husband and I decided to start our own business close to our hometown. Back in Florida, I was a regular at this one nail shop where I had been going to for over 7 years; I'm very particular about who I go to for my nails because let's be real, who wants to pay all that money to have their nails done horribly? Having heard a lot of praise about this nail place, I finally decided to try it out for the first time this summer. As soon as you walk in, expect to be greeted by one of the workers who will ask about how you're doing and how your day went. That's a huge plus in my book; they try to communicate well with you instead of rushing you in right away to get your money. The lady who seems to always be there did my pedicure while another younger gentleman gave me a gel manicure. The service overall was very thorough and not rushed, and during that whole time, I did not feel uncomfortable as both of them tried to carry a conversation with me instead of yakking away in their native language. For me, in order to assess whether a nail shop is worth coming back to or not, you would have to look at the condition of your nails a few days or weeks after you walk out of that place. My gel manicure lasted for over 2.5 weeks, while the regular polish on my feet lasted up to a month. I believe I only paid $52 for both services. So far this has been my favorite place to go to. Will I try to explore other shops in Vestavia/Birmingham? Maybe. But honestly, I'm such a creature of habit that it scares me to switch to anything else. read more

Royal Nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Birmingham, Alabama

I believe that this establishment is also called "Royal nails"and it is located at 790 Montgomery Highway suite 128. I have never left a review of a restaurant or a nail salon before, but I do read them when I am looking for a service. I had such an experience today at Royal nails that I wanted to post it to make everyone aware. I was getting my old polish removed and another the dip powder done today. My appointment started at 12:15, and I did not leave until 215. I have had my nails done on many occasions before, but this was my first (and last) time at this location. Never in my life has it taken someone two hours to do my nails. It wasn't even French, it was a simple color. And it was $38. Given that it was a Sunday afternoon I was happy to find a salon that was open, and interestingly enough I was the only client there my whole two hours. Aside from the ridiculous amount of time it took to get my nails done, the elderly woman doing my nails drew blood on multiple occasions. She was incredibly rough with the nail file to the point where I bled and applied a "numbing" oil which I found out was just that after I asked her what she put on my bleeding cuticle and I picked up the bottle and read it. I thought it was important to let people out there know of the experience that I had. So unless you don't mind your appointment taking an insane amount of time, even when there are no other clients present, and your nail technician drawing blood, Royal Nails is for you. As for me, I will never return. read more

I went for a gel manicure and the older woman that did my manicure did a terrible job. The establishment is general seems to be kind of thrown together; not cleaning utensils well, patched up equipment, and just general messy appearance. The heat lamp she used for my gel polish had cardboard duct taped to the bottom of it and it kept turning off throughout the manicure so she would have to mess with the plug. This happened about 6 or 7 times. At the end of my manicure my nails have bumps and are the polish was not applied smoothly at all. read more

I am not posting this to be mean, but to truly share what I observed recently. I went with a friend. It was as if we had accidentally wandered into someone's living room. There was an older lady employee who was napping on the draped table (where I guess they apply wax?) in the back of the room. There were 3 young children, ages 5, 6, 7 approximately, who kept running in and out of the salon area from the back room, one was barefoot, then there was a young woman who was eating soup across from where I was getting my nails done, and also CNN was on the whole time. I did get a lovely manicure from a nice young gal but she seemed awfully young to me. When the older woman from the back table finally got up she walked over to the other older woman who worked there and they loudly talked nonstop the whole rest of the time I was there. read more

Worst pedicure of my life. The lady cut my cuticle and it wouldn't quit bleeding so she could paint the nail. She attempted to paint it anyway leaving me with an awful mess. read more

I went in for a pedicure. There was a man with a jade necklace (no name tags) that did my pedi in 10 mins! He was rude and in a hurry although there were only 2 other customers, all being waiting on. Even though I questioned him about all the shortcuts- not doing cuticles with nippers, less than 1 minute massage and next to none scrub he continued with his bad service. He was throwing the instruments he used right back in the drawer and threw the file in the water with my feet. When I told management it was the fastest and worst pedicure I have ever received the employee was argumentative and the manager never responded to me. I paid my bill but will never go back. Do not waste your money here there are plenty of shops that give good courtesy service. I hope I do not get a fungus from those instruments. read more

this is ridiculous. way to expensive for shit. even mentioned my nails were crooked and they ignored me. and shaped them without even asking if I wanted them this way or not. 0/10 will never go back. they don't even listen to you! this is only the first night with these too. they should NOT look like this read more

DO NOT GET YOUR NAILS DONE HERE! I have been getting acrylic nails for 12 years, at many salons, and I have NEVER had an experience as terrible as the last time I went here (or been in so much pain). The woman who did my nails is the owner. She spent at least 10 minutes berating me about the shape of my nails and telling me that everything I have learned about the natural state of my nails was wrong. She then proceeded to try to convince me to use gel polish OVER my acrylics. During the course of my manicure, every time she used the drimmel, she hit my cuticles, did not miss a finger. I began noticeably wincing every time she passed over my nails, yet it took me finally saying "I would like to not be bleeding at the end of this" for her to even notice there was a problem. Even after she knew what was happening, she still managed to hit my cuticles a couple more times. It took well over a week for the scabs on my cuticles (every finger) to heal. To top it off, it was the worst fill I had ever gotten- edges were not neat and there was excess acrylic, glue and polish all over. read more
