I'm really torn writing this because the staff is very pleasant, but I had a physically painful experience that has me genuinely worried. I came in as a walk-in for a basic pedicure and was paired with Linda. I was very explicit in asking her not to cut or file my nails down to the "nub," and while she nodded and seemed to understand, she did the exact opposite. Beyond the length, she clipped away at my cuticles for so long that they are now extremely raw, partially bleeding, and so sore that I can't even stand in the shower without stinging pain. My biggest concern now is the risk of infection given how deep she clipped into the skin. While Linda was very nice, she didn't follow my simple instructions, and I left with damaged, vulnerable skin instead of a relaxing service. I like the atmosphere here, but the lack of care for my physical comfort was a major issue. *Please note that photos of ankle scar is caused by a previous operation, the zoomed in photo is where you can see the new open wounds the salon left from aggressively scrubbing with a dry, hard (& cheap) sponge.* read more

I ended up here due to my normal spot being closed on Tuesdays. This was a very good first time experience! The shop is really big and clean. When I arrived , I was greeted and pretty much assisted right away for my service. I thoroughly enjoyed a gel spa pedicure! ($50) I received attentive service in a relaxing environment. I came in and requested a short French tip. Older man did my nails and was very aggressive the entire appointment. From shaving my skin off with the drill to filing the tips of my nails without holding the nail bed so my nail wouldn't be in pain. When he began the tips he polished HALF of the nail white instead of the tip and instantly I let him know I did not like that and that it should be shorter. He only erased a portion of the white and continued doing the remained of the nails. At the end of the service I was charged $55 for blocky nails. I went to the car and came right back inside to let them know I do not like this and would just like the entire nail to be painted white. After showing another lady the nails I wanted vs what I received she said okay and let someone else do my nails. At the end of this second service I was charged an additional $20 for a " color change" when initially I let them know I did not like the service or how the guy did French tips. He continued to argue with me back and forth about why he has to charge me because he gave me French tips and now I wanted something different. His energy was rude as heck the entire time plus he smelled like old cigarettes. Will not be returning and highly do not recommend to anyone read more

So it was time to start our pedicures. I literally got the basic pedicure ever just clean it up and clear polish along with some scrub pose to be $45. It was decent but still was half done. My girl literally got the same exact pedicure except she had did French tips on her toes and nails(she needed a fill in). But i even had to remind the lady to put the clear polish on my toes after she asked me what color I wanted and I told her clear, prior to her even asking me I just know for a fact the lady doing my toes and the man doing my girlfriend toes were talking about me. The lady doing my nails started talking to the man & I literally heard him say clear clear like 2/3 times right after that she asked me what color I told her. They resume back talking the man started laughing and something told me to just look up he was staring at me while they were saying what they were saying and soon as I look up he look away...beside that's crap, my girlfriend was getting her nails done..half done once again. They decided to do her nails and toes all at once. Her nails were rushed and she didn't even get the full treatment. No hands massage no water to let her fingers soak no nothing just rushed worked...even her toe nails were rushed...my massage chair went out started seeing hella nats..all that just to be charged $173..for 2 pedicures 1 was a French tip and a fill in also French tip...& it SMELLED LIKE DAMN CIGARETTES THE WHOLE TIME. they definitely got over on us we will never be back. 10/10 highly DONT RECOMMEND. A few days after my visit, I received a text from the manager (Victoria) explaining and apologizing for the lack of service I experienced on my first visit. She explained that it was a holiday weekend and they were short staffed. She had mistaken me for someone who had already been attended to, and didn't realize I was a new customer. She asked me to give them another shot, and I made an appointment for a Tuesday afternoon for a regular pedicure. Victoria was very thorough (probably the most meticulous pedicure I've ever received)! And I've had quite a few in my day! She took her time in everything - trimming my nails, massaging my legs, and made sure my polish was without blemish. Even two weeks after that visit, my toenails look great and haven't chipped. I want to preface this review by saying I am visually impaired or partially blind. I always go out with a sided person so that I am not an inconvenience to those around me. I went into Genesis nail spa this past weekend, Saturday, September 7, 2024 with a sided person. I could not tell if the spa was busy, but from what I could hear, it was moderately busy and there was one woman waiting when we arrived. We came inside, I asked for a gel manicure, no filing of my nails and we picked a color. This review has nothing to do with the quality of the nails, but the experience I had with the technician. We waited for approximately 5 minutes, which is a decent wait time for the amount of noise I heard inside of the spa. We sat down with the technician and he started working on my nails, but he was a little rude. He kept pushing my hands away as though he was dismissing me. it was almost like he had a chip on his shoulder and had a bad experience before I arrived, and that experience blood into mine. This situation really did hinder my enjoyment because I can no longer paint my nails. I was so excited to have them done professionally. However, that was not the case, my excitement quickly faded. I'm not leaving this review to bash their company or their technicians. I'm leaving this review as a learning experience for those employed inside of the spa. The appearance of people can be very deceiving and you do not know their situation so always lead forward with kindness. After my nails were finished they totaled to $40 and I left a $5 tip. I came here December 9th and had a great experience, was very happy to return as I recently moved to the area and was happy to find a location so wonderful. However, I came back today and noticed the girl from before wasn't there so I was happy to try someone new, Kenny. The red nails are what I had before and exactly the length and shape I wanted again, I told Kenny this. While removing the old dip, he said how long my nails were and that I didn't need the tips. I laughed and said okay if they could be the same as before and that I trusted him.. once he began I noticed how short they were and not once did he ask if they were okay. Yas Queen! Upon my second visit to this salon, I'm still as happy as can be. I'm going on 3 weeks of my dip mani and gel pedi and they've both held up through holiday season - though I'm ready to go back soon for a fresh set. This salon is located in the Home Depot and Target outdoor shopping strip center in Trussville off Hwy. 11. The folks at Genesis Nail Spa in Trussville are so kind and sure know what they are doing. At my first visit I just asked my nail technician to pick out a color and I LOVED her choice. This time, I got a deluxe pedi with gel polish as well as dip manicure and it cost me a little over $100.00 - which you cannot beat this day and age! BEWARE! I have been getting my nails done for 13 yrs consistently and I would NOT recommend this salon. I went in yesterday for SNS and stated I wanted my nails just trimmed a tad and shaped the same. Well the nail tech, chopped my nails off and completely misshaped my nails. The nails are not even the same shape...after trying to have her fix them twice without luck, I figured it was a loss and just agreed to let her finish. See photos. Some are crooked, some are oval, some are round. She asked if she did my nails before and I assumed she was making small talk..right? WRONG. Never in my life have I heard of an up charge for soaking off SNS from another salon, it's the SAME product (and not to mention she asked me how to soak it off)... they told me it would be $46 if the SNS was from their salon... I was never made aware of this charge until after..it's not posted anywhere on their price list. I paid $51 for a HORRIBLE service. In Atlanta, the going price for SNS is $35 and they also know how to shape nails and don't charge to soak off products..that are required to do the service. I got acrylic nails and while she was put one on it broke in the middle and instead of replacing it she just went over it. It is very clumpy under the nail. I went to this nail spa last Thursday for my sisters birthday. There was no wait which was great because we decided to not go on a Saturday since it was packed. My sister loves her nails but I am disappointed with mine. I wasn't asked what shape I wanted, the guy tried to talk me out of black, and it's been only four days and one of the rhinestones has already fallen off. Also as you can see the nail with the missing rhinestone did not get a top coat, which is probably why it fell off. He almost forgot to do the other hands top coat on that finger also. My experience here is hit and miss and the past two times have been major misses. This last visit was the last straw. One of the guys who has done my nails before did them and did an ok job. When I went to pay I chose a 20% tip which was $8 on a $40 service. His response was "pitiful, you said you loved it." That certainly rubbed me the wrong way. $48 is far more than I make in an hour and I have a Master's degree. In addition, my nails started chipping and lifting after 10 days and now two weeks later I have to have them redone. I usually get three weeks with SNS. They have definitely gone downhill. Made an appointment ahead of time since I was coming with a group, but shouldn't have bothered as we were treated as walk-ins. They separated our group and skipped over some of us. Clearly had no system of who should be taken care of first. I asked for gel tips, but the lady servicing me just kept asking "regular" or "full set". When I explained what I wanted (as I have gotten gel tips before and know how they work), she told me that wouldn't work and that it was "silly", implying they didn't exist rather than telling me they didn't offer that service. I got gel polish without tips and was prompted to take my nails out from under the UV light before they were set, which resulted in a couple smudges when I took my wallet out to pay.
