I'm a regular at this shop so, my review matters more, lol. Kidding. This shop is pretty cool and a chill environment, and you're still able to walk away with a very nice manicure and pedicure for an ok price. I paid $72 pre-tip for a spa pedicure and a gel manicure. The downstairs area can be cramped so when I want more privacy and a spa type feel, I ask to go upstairs which in turn cost more. The only bad thing that I can say is that every time I've gotten familiar with a nail tech, they leave. This has happened to me about 3 times. This is a family owned business so, that aspect is good but. I'm guessing that some employees can't adhere to their rules and they eventually leave. So, now when I come in, I just look for a familiar face and instruct the person on what I like and what I do not like. I'd still choose Helen or Lynn if I have my way, but that's just me being particular. read more

I came in to get my acrylic nails removed because they take walk ins and had reasonable pricing for that service. While I was there, they put my hands in sandwich bags filled with acetone and cotton balls to remove said nails causing my eczema to flare up. When asked if they could wrap my nails one by one instead, the nail tech did not respond and just letting my hands in and out of the bags as she filed off the nails. I left with the service I requested but now my hands are so raw and red from eczema that they have blistered. I do not anticipate coming back as the techs were not very helpful or accommodating for my needs. I also felt very rushed through the process since I was only coming in for a removal and not getting my nails redone. While I was sitting there, I overheard other conversations with costumers that were unhappy with their services - being overcharged because Nail World II could not color match and the customer requested her nail length to be long, while another requested a different nail color after the first layer had been applied and was met with a lot of pushback from the techs rather than seeking a solution with the customer. read more

I'm going to be honest, I'm not a typical mani pedi girl and tbh ate just because they have gotten overly expensive as time has passed. Give me Walmart pedicures from 2008-11 and I'll be happy. But this place was exceptional. The last pedicure place I went to charged me 50, barely did any care for my cuticles, or calluses, so basically a rip off. This place is the complete opposite. They took their time doing my feet and I really appreciated that. And not only that (by error) when I needed to come back the next morning because they had smudged on the way home, they willingly the next morning fixed them. You don't find places that actually do a good job and are willing to fix a mistake on the customers behalf anymore and yet here they are. So TRUST I will be back ! read more

I was recommended to come here by a few of my friends and I thought why not I'll give it a try. I came here before and I hated the experience. I felt rushed the whole time and my nails looked awful, but that was a few years ago so I thought since I was recommended again let me give it another shot. Wrong. The service is awful! The guy Tru that was doing my nails and toes was ALLLLL over the place. He was complaining the whole time while doing my nails that he was ready to go home. He rushed through my nails and pedicure because he was trying to hurry up and leave. I got there way before closing and I even called the day before to make an appointment with him so I was so confused as to why he was rushing me. The next day, my nails were hurting from him rushing with drilling my nails and cutting them with the file. My toes looked pretty bad to where you could see where he did not polish my toes all over with the top coat. I came back the next day just to get my toes fixed. I mean I did pay $97.92 the day before so why not come back and get your toes fixed the way it should've been to begin with... He had one of his other workers, Kitty to fix my toes. Normally any nail shop would redo all of your toes, but this worker wanted to polish over the polish that was already messed up. I asked her to take that coat off and redo it altogether. Well after I said that, she only took the polish off of both of my big toes. Then she wanted to Polish my toes with no base coat. I asked her to add base case and she told me that I didn't need it. I told her that I wanted it and that's why I paid for. She rushed polishing both of my big toes with an attitude and told me that I was done and pushed the stool out of the way and went to the next person. I must say this is the absolute worst service that I've ever experienced from a nail salon. I most certainly will never come back here again and I definitely will never recommend anyone to come here either. Um it was an okay experience: I usually don't have an issue but today was a little disappointing. I always get a gel pedicure and a short full set (either almond shaped or square) well for some reason the lady that was doing my nails acted as though it was impossible for me to get a short almond set and I have had it done multiple times before. I even showed her a picture of the length that I wanted and usually get. It didn't look any different each time she "filed" them down. Needless to say I left disappointed and went to another salon where they filed them down to the length that I desired free of charge. I'm not sure what the issue was today.. After work, I wasn't able to get to the salon until 30 minutes before closing. They immediately fit me in, and still gave me a full manicure with a design staying well past asked closing. My manicurist was incredibly nice and did exactly what I was hoping for, and now I have super fun nails for my beach trip this weekend! Highly recommend this salon!!! read more

So I needed a pedicure this week and my regular place was slammed so I read up on some reviews and decided to give this place a try. I was greeted and taken back to a pedicure chair within about 5 minutes. I was offered something to drink and began soaking. The manicurist didn't say much through my pedicure, but I am okay with that. I would rather just relax. The pedicure was fine, nothing special. Just your basic soak, scrub, paint. It was worth the $31 I would say. The reason why I am giving it 3 stars is because my toe nails have already started chipping just a day after getting them done. That is not acceptable. Clearly the polish wasn't old because it was a new fall polish display. Another thing was there was no tip option on the credit card receipt. I noticed afterwards that there was a tiny sign above the drying chair stating they no longer accept tips on cards. I just happened to have cash, but most people do not carry cash and I feel the workers would really miss out on tip money. They should put a sign on the door or somewhere more visible. read more

The person proceeds to greet the person behind me and asks them what they need. The person is kind enough to show that I was there first and then the woman asks me what I need. This is a lovely nail salon in Homewood. I'm here every two weeks! The salon is always busy, but it runs like a factory. I regularly get gel manicures and regular pedicures here. This nail salon isn't necessarily as much of a spa experience as others; it more get in and get your mani/pedi with a few spa-like amenities along the way, but that's usually what I prefer, as I'm often pressed for time. All of the technicians are kind and competent. Beverages (including wine) are offered during your visit, which is a nice touch. I like this place but there are better ones in Birmingham. The lady that runs the place (I'm guessing the owner) is very nice and always welcoming but once you sit down, you don't really have any other welcoming conversation. The manicurists are there to do one job and that's all they do. Not sure if they are just trying to be quick and not waste time with conversation but even when I try to start ones, it's usually cut short. They do a good job on gel nails which is what I usually get, although the last few times it has cracked and started peeling with 3-4 days; this is kind of annoying when I pay $40+ to get it done. Not sure why it has started to do this but I will probably try and find another place to start going to. They do offer you a drink (water, wine, etc..) when you sit down so that is nice. read more

I came in for a fill in. I found this place on Instagram and many I knew went here. I wish I would have requested the young lady but I believe she doesn't work on the weekends. If you go, I would suggest going to a lady or at least do not go to first guy sitting closest to the door. DO NO DO IT. This was the worst experience I have ever had. The artist name is PHOUC. When I got to his chair, he started sighing and continued to sigh throughout my time in his chair. He said the previous people that did my nails did a "shitty" job and I shouldn't go back there. When cutting my nail to shape them, he CUT my skin. When cutting my cuticle, he burned my skin, and when I told him he laughed it off, and said that's the only way to not make it sloppy (it's very sloppy). I asked for a simple white gel fill in, the only reason why I didn't go back in, is because I started feeling sick. Never coming back. I'm not crazy about this place. I came here on a whim because it was close and one of my girlfriends recommended it to me. It was right when they opened on a Saturday morning, so they weren't too terribly crowded yet. I was getting a pedi/full set. The pedicure was okay, nothing special. The problem I had was with the full set. It seemed as though the lady was in a rush to finish me up. She didn't file down the acrylic well at all and left it bumpy and the put gel polish over it. She also didn't file underneath my nails so when I was finished I had tons of hard acrylic under my nails. It was quite expensive, so it was pretty disappointing to get such a mediocre experience. I came in and was seated pretty quickly. I wanted a pedicure with an acrylic overlay on my big toes. Everything was going fine until an older lady took over. She did not shape the big toes correctly at all after I tried to explain to her numerous times how I wanted it to look. Then, she caught an attitude when I kept telling her I wasn't pleased. After getting aggravated I asked the older lady to just give me the file and I proceeded to shape it myself. She then got mad and snatched the file out of my hand. Came here earlier in the week after my usual nail salon was closed for a private event. I think the staff was nice but they talked to each other the whole time which made it a bit distracting to enjoy. My friend and I both got pedicures and I noticed that my friends pedicure was different than mine although we got the same pedicure service. Hers include lotion massage (mine did not) and her hot towels were on at least double the time of mine. I thought the massage part of mine was sub par as well. I got my usual gel but they are a little more on the thicker side then I prefer which makes them look kind of balloon like and peel quicker. I noticed my friends were thinner and her nail tech took more time and care to paint each nail. I think if you prefer a more spa like experience this isn't the place for you but if you just need a quick nail job then it could work. read more

A tech asked what color gel I wanted right when I walked in and started picking out colors for me to rush me along. I had to explain what color I wanted -"no not that one, " etc-even though I never asked for her help.They were not busy, but I got one tech for my pedicure -who was great-then the self-appointed polish color chooser did my manicure at the same time. I couldn't enjoy my foot massage because manicurist kept yelling at me to put my hand in the light, now other hand in the light, at a frantic pace. I had to reach across my chest to put my right hand in under the light (gel nails.)again and again swap swap..Manicurist worked so fast pedi was not relaxing. Manicurist/nail polish chooser pointed at the tip she wanted and told me to press $12.The relaxing foot massage part was lost as I was too busy swapping hands and. manicurist wouldn't give me a break,I asked her if every customer had a mani/pedi at same time, I was only one with 2 services at once. The decor needed a little updating and it looked like they were trying because the ceiling had some construction work being done to it.
