Oh, uh.... NOT OKAY! I could've sworn i've left like five reviews for Nail Bar Hoover. Jokes on me, none! Well, you're in for it now. From Homewood to Alabaster, I have tried them all. Disappointment follows by the first, second, or third visit at the latest. If you need a nice clean, well, polished mani or pedi this is it. I constantly try to find a place a little closer to home for convenience, but you cannot beat the level of professionalism, and quality that you receive here. Not to mention you get two free drinks. Not sold yet? They also have a pretty nice loyalty program that allows you to earn points during your visits. I don't know any other salon that incentivizes customers like that in BHAM. I can tell you my horror stories about going to another salon before my wedding and the tech filing half my toe off ONLY to return here so that they can restore my wedding nail dreams. I honestly feel super sad leaving this review but this used to be the nail salon that I went to in Birmingham anytime I wanted my nails done for the past year. Usually they do such an amazing job and leave me extremely happy EXCEPT for when I went to get my wedding nails done I think the nail tech who had me was super new first and foremost. I asked for a classic French manicure and even showed pictures of what exactly I wanted. I wanted dip done and once he finished my nails, I kid you not, they looked BARBIE pink, not anything like the pictures I had shown him. I had even told him a few times prior to even getting my mani that these nails were for my wedding day. If he wasn't experienced in doing the nails, he should've just been honest and upfront and had someone else do them! Once I brought it up to him that this wasn't what I had wanted, other techs started coming up to us and one even was like "why didn't you mention this wasn't what you wanted when he did the first nail?" Truth be told, I didn't realize the nails were gonna look this pink until the end. So now that both my hands have Barbie pink dip polish on, he proceeds to do a lighter coat of GEL polish on top of my dip. At the end, my nails looked soooo thick! It looked like I had digital clubbing (AKA alien nails). To make matters worse, the day before my wedding day, my nail polish started bubbling up and then chipped off and I had to make an urgent nail appointment in chicago (where my wedding was) to get my whole nails redone! I was so scarred that I didn't even choose French mani for the second one and ended up going with a white ombré so that way I wouldn't get pink again. Honestly, I've just been so scarred by this whole experience so I don't think I'll ever be back to this salon. The only reason I'm giving three stars instead of one is because of all of the other great experiences I've had with this salon previously. I'll blame it on the nail tech for this last time, but really and truly they made me feel like I was the problem whenever the nails I got wasn't anything like the picture I had showed of what I was expecting read more

Organic Pedicure regular polish.. First time back in Alabama receiving a pedicure. I was referred here by my neighbor and Tisk Tisk Tisk... The service at the nail bar wasn't the best. Called ahead was told no wait & to come in. Walked in a was met with rolling eyes and a deep sigh. The gentleman at the front desk seemed very annoyed by my presence and that I couldn't hear him over the loud music. I just smiled and took my seat. My pedicure was done by a sweet older lady but unfortunately it felt very rushed. Cuticles weren't clipped properly, didn't polish my toes all the way, didn't do the best job on shaping my nails. At one point during the exfoliating scrub with the stone she was barely touching my feet lol- just making the motion as if she was scrubbing away. Bless her heart- she wore glasses and was distracted by the convo in the room. Again I just smiled, as she was probably doing her best. Hate to say it but underneath my toe nails felt very itchy afterwards. When asked if I like my feet- I was honest and said no and asked if I could have them reshaped a little and to polish the nail completely. I was told no and that they thought the end result was pretty. I sighed and opened up yelp.. I'm a very positive person who is non-confrontational. Just a southern girl who prioritizes self care, loves Jesus, drink my water, and mind my business. Historically black/brown ppl in Alabama are not seen as equals especially in the eyes of most Caucasian & Asian people in the south. There's been many instances of discrimination in nail salon based on stereotypes & other weird biases against black/brown people- even in 2025. That's not my ministry/nor my portion lol. So to keep down frustration and confrontation I decided to not press the concern, pay for the service, and leave. It's my birthday so I made another appointment with a nearby salon with excellent reviews (from all backgrounds) for tomorrow and hopefully I'll receive a peace of mind and something a little more to my satisfaction. Upon walking in and showing what I wanted, right off the dude was rude and condescending. I wanted chrome and he was like oo that's gonna be $90 and acted rude. I didn't mind paying as long as it looked good. Leigh did my nails and she was pleasantly sweet and did a pretty good job. I walked out happy however I have had my nails done so many times and never had them pop right out, always had to get them removed. I needed a last minute manicure before leaving for the beach and was able to call and get an appointment during the lunch hour on a Tuesday. The manicure was really great and thorough and they provided a lot of colors to choose from. I was in and out within an hour and a half which was great and was offered a variety of refreshments. The reason for 4 stars is two-fold: the services I requested was an SNS/dip manicure plus a gel pedicure and there was some confusion about what I asked for, I was even told at one point I didn't ask for a pedicure. Second, while lunch time was fairly slow, there were several employees sitting in the pedicure chairs on their phones. That being said, I will definitely be back in the future for another manicure should I be close by. read more

Came at 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon and was almost seated right away! I was shocked but I must have come at the perfect time. Alex did my pedicure and it was really nice (especially paired with a glass of Prosecco). Nina did my nails and was unbelievably kind and I could really tell she was making sure she was doing exactly what I wanted plus giving her opinions on other options which was nice! She took her time and did great. Everybody here seemed really happy and it seemed that most of the other clients there were all regulars. I did think $88 for s&s with a little design was a bit steep but from what I hear that's about what everybody is now charging! Really love this place! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a great staff who seems extremely genuine. They have such a good atmosphere and the customer service is superb! We came in pretty late on a Monday afternoon (5pm) and they were a little busy so they put us on a waitlist until it was our turn. Lee did my SNS today and she was fast yet still extremely efficient. Loved the outcome. I've also been here for the pedicures and they leave your feet feeling heavenly. Will not be back here. Even though my toes look great, service was very quick and rushed. Me and my boyfriend came in for pedicures. We got the classic pedicures but even in other places we were given more tlc. They ran our water and we probably soaked our feet for a minimum of 60 seconds and they immediately started. No cuticle softener, nothing. I came in with clear polish on my toes, the guy who did my feet didnt even remove the existing polish. my toe nails were filed down before coming in but the guy servicing me never asked if i wanted them filed down, he just went away with it and actually hurt me because my toe nails were already short. He was very rough pushing my cuticles back and i cannot even exaggerate how quick it was. After that, he scrubbed my feet, lotioned, and hot toweled me in like 5 minutes altogether. I just didnt like how there were barely any products used and how rushed this was. We didn't even have any salts in our water? Even after i got my polish, there was no assistance putting my sandals back on. I was not escorted to a drying table. Nothing. This was my boyfriends first pedicure and i hate he had to experience the most mediocre one ive ever experienced. Definitely wont be back. 2 stars simply because the polish wasnt sloppy. read more

Make sure you look at the price list before they start on your nails so you are not shocked. They're still stinging a day after my manicure. - The place also didn't provide a nail paint drying fan at the end. I went in today to get a Gel Manicure. I had an old SNS on my nails. I was greeted and seated immediately but I sat for a while before who I think was the owner walked out ver to an employee that was sitting in one of the massage chairs for a pedicure was sitting and informed him of what I wanted which was bubble bathe gel manicure. I inquired about having the Chrome finish on my nails but was told it would be $20 extra. I decided not get the chrome polish on my nails. The guy took a plastic nail tip out of the drawer and started popping my old SNS polish off of my nails, that was very odd to me. Everytime I get a fill-in, they soak the polish off. I tried asking him which would be better on my nails SNS or gel, he said which one do you want SNS or gel. He didn't answer my question and came off rude. I decided to go with the gel. He seemed irritated. He had given me my nails a couple of coats and then asked if I wanted another coat on my thumb nail because you could see through the polish and see where my nail was not filed properly. I'd said thanks. Once we got to the end to pay he charged me an extra $11, for what, I do not know. The price for a gel manicure if $43 according to there prices that are at every station. My nails are natural, no tips. I didn't ask for anything extra. I used to patronize this place for years but the work got sloppy so I tried other places. I went back to day after being away for more than a year. After Going there today, I will never return. I felt like the guy did not want to provide a service to me and did not provide good customer service. I will continue my search for a new nail spot because this one is not the one. read more

Hands down the best nail salon I have experienced in Birmingham! I have had a total of 6 attempts of the SNS nails and this one by far is absolutely the best! Everyone has very friendly and patient. I didn't feel like I was being rushed like most of the nail salons I have been to. The SNS application was perfection! I have almost given up on the SNS nails since they have mostly resembled thick acrylic whenever I get them, but this place changed my perspective! This time the SNS feels lightweight, thin and more natural! They have so many color options also! The nail tech even helped me pick out a pretty natural color! I just love natural colors! I loved how they interacted with my 7 year old daughter! She's a bit of a talker, lol! Plus they have multiple selections of wine, sodas and juice, so we were both happy about that. I'm not much of a wine drinker so I asked what she recommended a bubbly raspberry wine! So tasty!! They were also able to draw a hello kitty design, per request from my daughter! Amazing Experience! I never get my nails done. But today I decided I deserved a treat. I went to the Nail Bar with a friend around 11am after seeing great reviews. The salon is very modern, clean and there's a front desk and mini bar when you walk on. We were immediately greeted by someone behind the front desk and seated within 10min. After being seated we were asked if we'd like something to drink (complementary). We both chose a mimosas. Rica did my friends nails and Ly did mine. They were both very nice and obviously very skilled. They took their time which I loved since it was such a peaceful environment. I had SNS done with tips in a light grey color. Now in my experience I've never paid extra for adding tips but I did today. My total was $60 and I left a tip.
