This place is hands down a GREAT seafood restaurant! The fact you go to their website and the first thing you see is "Our famous Tybee Tuna" and that just shows you how great that dish it! (And yes, that's what I have ordered) I went for the first time in person then did pick up but both times I ordered the Tybee Tuna. Talk about mouth watering dish. I believe it's around $15 but I would pay $100 for this dish! I can't wait too go back! read more

Tho the patrons were loud, for no reason, the food was excellent and wait staff efficient. This cafe chose to not use menus, but a QRcode on the table. I selected the creamy & thick crab soup and the fish-of-the-day, which is grouper, sandwich on a fresh bun. My selection of grilled fish with their homemade potato salad was excellent. Total about $22 for generous servings. There also was indoor seating and a nicely stocked bar with several patrons about 3 pm . There could be more parking spaces, as lot was full mid-day. There may be more somewhere, but had one car not been leaving as I arrived, I would have had to go elsewhere. read more

I came here by my wife's recommendations, we had a great meal and I can't wait until I come back and eat here again. The staff was very outgoing and very interested in providing good customer service and a great dining experience. I got the Ahi Tuna stack and I gobbled it up, it was very tasty. I was going to order a different dish, but my wife and my attention to this because it was one of the dinner specials. Our meals all came out great for us. I got some very crispy brown french fries for my daughter, they were hot and came right away. The night that we came to have dinner, the University of Georgia football team was playing and there were a lot of people watching the game, that made it loud in there, but I bet this is the kind of place that you would come to for good food and not necessarily a quiet romantic evening. read more

For a chill lunch or dinner place, Driftaway Cafe was perfect for what we had in mind. A cozy outside eating area was very relaxing. The workers were polite and attentive. Their long list of craft beer did not disappoint. We shared a tasty platter of fried calamari, peppered and cooked with sun-dried tomatoes. Stopped here for lunch today. Would have given 5 stars but the breading on the fried fish tacos was way too heavy. Compare the two photos of the tacos below - the blackened fish is perfect, the fried fish tacos had the same amount of fish but looked twice the size when served. My wife pulled the breading off and had quite a pile. I had the oyster sandwich which was absolutely delicious - the oysters were plentiful, tender and crispy on the outside with a tasty sauce. Another member of our party had the gyros which she said was perfect - she ate the whole thing! Service was great. Our waitress kept our iced tea filled and brought the check promptly when we were ready to go. Ambiance was very Florida-beach or Baja style. Very casual. Good food, reasonable prices, good service with a nice ambiance. read more

Ambiance is wonderful! We sat next to the creek and enjoyed the wildlife. I had the salmon with blueberry lemon dressing. My husband had the fish and chips (grouper/big portions). The salmon was so tender and I was pleasantly surprised how I enjoyed the fruit on top of the Salmon. Service was terrific!!! read more

I'm not from the area (or even this coast) but I do visit Savannah frequently, and I love Driftaway Cafe. Service is always friendly and the staff seem to care about performing at the high bar they've clearly set for themselves over the years. The fried green tomato starter is delicious, and I hope the folks at Driftaway are proud to know my first ever taste of fried green tomatoes happened in their restaurant! I'm also a big fan of the Bacon Ranch Chicken Tacos, which sound horrible for you, but you need to treat yourself now and then. The chicken is always freshly fried, and those juices make the whole dish pop! read more

We enjoyed everything. I brought a friend with me who had never been, and we had a delightful lunch! We shared the Blue Chips and Shrimp Quesadillas. She wants to go back, because there are more items on the very creative menu that we want to try. We sat overlooking the little brook and the bird houses and thoroughly enjoyed watching all the birds. Our server was great! We saw the crab stew being delivered to another table and decided it's a must try next time! Everything looks and tastes amazing, and we love the relaxed islands vibe! Great lunch. I had the chicken biscuit. The fried chicken was some of the best I've had. The biscuit and gravy was a good compliment. Wife had the wedge salad with blackened shrimp. Came in a large bowl with ample shrimp. We both left very satisfied. read more

This place is really done up right. Definitely recommend it Food- tuna bites were cooked perfectly, blackened seasoning was not overpowering so it didn't take away from the tuna. The salmon salad was delicious with a nice size piece of fish. The fish and chips my husband had were made with grouper and they were well prepared without a heavy batter. Service- greeted with smiling faces and everyone was happy. Already gives you a nice vibe. Ambiance- the decor makes you feel like you are at the beach, the outdoor seating looked really nice but because of rain we sat inside in one of the booths that overlooks a beautiful waterfall, bird feeders and lush greenery. Super nice and done very well. Whoever painted the murals and ceiling did a beautiful job. Can't say enough about this place. You gotta stop at check it out. We found this place quite by accident. Took a chance and it was so good. Adult beverages a must!!! The bar was full of locals enjoying after a busy day. The young lady that waited on us, Anna was a definite gem. Great suggestions on menu items we would like. My friend had the Mahi Mahi. Very good portions and cooked perfectly. I had the Firecracker shrimp platter. The sauce is spicy. I had it on the side. Great dinner for way less money than the dinner the night before at the other place. We will be back. read more

We had dinner here last night after finding the place on yelp. I was craving shrimp and grits, and some of the reviews on here made it sound like that their grits is the best. So needless to say, I ordered this dish and my boyfriend ordered the Tybee tuna. The food wasn't terrible, but quite honestly for the price we were a little disappointed. In our opinion, the restaurant is more like a very casual beach place that you don't want to go if you're planning to have a medium classy experience with some ambience. We didn't expect super fancy but a little classy. We got seated quickly, but then had to wait for quite some time for someone to bring us a real menu that turned out to be a tablet because quite honestly, we refuse to look at our phones for the menu. In a place where you pay 26 or $29 for a dish we expect them to have a real menu. And that has nothing to do that we are in our 50s. One thing that was absolutely shocking was that we had to experience one of the waitresses to use a karate kick to open the door to the patio while she was carrying plates. She must've seen us sitting right there in the booth and apparently didn't care. That is an absolute no go and a total hole in the wall move. She should probably be retrained or fired. Again.... in a place where you can order fairly expensive dishes a guest should not have to experience that. read more

Driftaway's Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in Savannah. While it is off the beaten path that most tourists visit, it is worth the short drive to Sandfly. Service is always friendly, ambiance is that of a locally owned beach-vibe restaurant (although not on a beach) and the food is always delicious! read more

NIce little place just a bit outside town. The food was really good, came out piping hot! You could tell the fish and shrimp were super fresh. Large bar area that was popular with the older locals crowd, which made the inside of the restaurant loud. I would try to get a table on the porch if returning for a better atmosphere. No menus, so be sure to bring your cell phone, not a problem for us, but the elderly couple behind us did not have smartphones. read more

This restaurant has a lovely nautical decor, relaxing. There is a beautiful garden in the back and trees through the window in side dining room. The waitstaff is wonderful, attentive and friendly. I would have given five stars except the salmon in my jerk salmon salad tasted fishy, I should have sent it back but was really hungry. My friend loved hers though and her key lime pie which she said was tart. The salad had asparagus and mango, great additions. All the food at other tables looked good too. In the bathroom, the cover to the toilet was dirty although the rest of the room was clean. I wasn't thrilled about that. Still it's a good place. I would return. read more

Family and friends stopped in recently. The crab dip appetizer was delish, we had to ask for more bread to use up all the dip. I had a bite of the fried green tomatoes appetizer. It's not usually a favorite of mine, and this one didn't change my mind. My entree was the bacon ranch chicken tacos (two good-sized tacos). They were competent but not outstanding (and I didn't get the pickles the menu promised.) They were delivered with fries rather than chips as I had requested, but it turned out the fries were the better choice (the chips lacked salt.) We skipped dessert since we had birthday cake awaiting us at home. Service was ok. read more
