I always like finding a new favorite place! And this is our new favorite go to for sushi! Don't let the outside fool you. My daughter and I decided to check it out while shopping near by. The food was excellent. Service was fast. There is a large parking lot in front of the restaurant so parking isn't a problem. The price was very reasonable especially the lunch menu. We had the salad with ginger dressing and miso soup as appetizers. They were both very yummy. They have lots of combo's and one will certainly include what you are wanting. We also ordered a vegetable tempura which was very good. They give you two of each veggie so it's perfect to share. They have lots of veggie roll options. This place is such a great little hole in the wall. Located in a small shopping plaza next to a beauty & liquor store. Definitely gives you mom & pop shop vibes which I love. I've probably eaten my way through half of their menu and I've ordered a good chunk of the sushi too. Their seafood soup is delicious with shrimp, krab not to be confused with real crab, scallops and mussels. I don't want to be misleading so know this soup isn't overflowing with seafood but just a few of each to get you ready for your meal. Still a great starter! On to the sushi. Always super fresh and perfectly made. Whether you're into sashimi or the fried rolls you can't go wrong here. They truly have something for all sushi lovers. A favorite of mine is the spicy volcano roll. Absolutely delicious. The sashimi combo is AMAZING! especially the yellowtail. I've ordered several different entrees over my many visits. Yakisoba is always a top pick for me. The noodles are perfectly cooked with an abundance of shrimp. The bowls (tamago don) comes with rice and their rice is so buttery and soft. I've been to other asian restaurants where the rice is gummy and overcooked but not here. I recently tried the bourbon chicken and it was a good balance of sweet and savory flavors. I've been a regular here. Between the delicious food and the great customer service it's become one of my favorite spots. The young lady that works there is so kind and helpful. She is so knowledgeable and always suggests new sushi for me to try. I've yet to be disappointed in anything I've eaten here. read more

Sakura is doing dine-in so we stopped for sushi. Our regular place only had takeout. We started with fried dumplings and they were delicious. I had a Sakura roll with tuna and avocado, RJ had the Satsuki roll with crab and cucumber. Both were tasty and fresh. We also shared some seafood tempura. Service was fast and friendly. If you are fine with plastic cups, then you can try this place, but I'm not recommending it. I ordered sashimi and got four types of fish cut in slices that were too thick. Neither was great. We did an online order and were prompted by the site that we would be informed when it was ready. I live three minutes away an hour and 20 minutes later. There was no prom so I drove up there. She tells me no one notified us because they didn't have a way to which I find odd since they said they would notify us because we ordered from them, so the food been sitting out for over an hour and she wanted me to take it that's $50 with food which is way too much money in the first place but and I told her no I wanted fresh food because it's been sitting out for an hour I'm not eating it. I paid for fresh food. I wanted fresh food so then she set it on the tray and starts talking in their little other language, probably cussing me, but I don't care. I take shrimp fried rice to redo completely fresh. Supposedly he dumped it from the box in the fryer that they use pan whatever slap it back in the box and she tries to sell it to me and I told her no I watched him dump it from the box onto the fry pan and then back in the box that's not fresh and she's arguing with me that it's fresh. The other one was thrown out Now, I stood there and watched him take it from the container it was in. She tried to sell me put it in there. Stir it up and put it back in the box. My review for this restaurant is don't go the food not wonderful. the service is horrible and they may not be selling you fresh food so somebody else that comes behind me that might order shrimp. I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience, even when I've called 15 minutes before closing time . The food and their sushi are outstanding and their customer service is top notch. If you're in the moon for amazing sushi and you want to be treated well then I would highly recommend stopping by. Well...I didn't get to TASTE anything, because right at the front door, I was met with a posture of unwelcomeness. I stated that I was looking for a friend I was meeting, and the hostess responded "I can't hear you", so I spoke up, and she still said "I can't hear you!" A very large young man came over, expressionless, and by his demeanor, must have decided it was a "situation". I disregarded this, and turned to ask the young lady whether there were any other locations, to which she replied curtly "no".(there are THREE, just so you know...including the restaurant location on Eisenhower I was SUPPOSED to meet my friend). I told her that it was very interesting that she heard me really well that time, and I left. Ambiance was ruined at the moment of the unnecessary exchange with the rude hostess. We were in Savannah for a short vacation and had passed by this restaurant several times as it was near our hotel. After reading the reviews, we decided to eat here on our last night in town. We weren't sure if this was an authentic Japanese restaurant. The food was ok. It was not authentic Japanese. The tempura shrimp were small and ok. My son said the fried dumplings were delicious as was his sesame chicken. The teriyaki chicken was bland and dry. The staff was very attentive and our food was served quickly and hot. Sakura is a tiny tucked-away restaurant in a small plaza off Waters. And man is it perfect for that "mom and pop" sort of feel. The decor isn't anything special, it isn't expansive, and it isn't impressive from the outside. However, that doesn't detract from the food or service in the slightest. I just came back and my total in and out time was exactly 30 minutes from when I sat down until I left. The menu had a wide assortment of sushi and other rice and noodle based dishes. I ordered a chicken bowl and salmon and avocado roll. The roll was nothing special, if a little small, but the price was low enough. The chicken bowl was ALMOST great, and was sweet and delicious and filling. It was just missing that last bit to really push it to the top. The service was quick and despite it being pretty busy, I had my waitress check up on me often and quickly. Overall, what a nice place at competitive prices for a Japanese restaurant. read more

I said what I said. I understand as a business owner wanting your workers tipped for their hard work. But if the service was not good, then inform your staff to improve. It is not the patrons responsibility to tip only to pay for their meal tipping is optional, hence why you can leave the restaurant without one. You still handled the situation poorly and I have informed others of the prejudice nature of your establishment. I tip at great establishments around the Savannah area all the time. I'm sorry this restaurant fell short. I hope you learn and become more understanding of how the system works and invite unsatisfied patrons back instead of shunning them. This is my favorite sushi spot. I've been going to Sakura for years. The sushi is delicious and always fresh. I always get a maki combo or the party combo for 4 (pictured). It's 10 rolls of the chefs choice for $38. Great deal and some of the best shrimp sauce in town. I call it in and it's ready for pickup in 10-15 mins. read more

Sakura Japanese Restaurant was lovey! We had a very attentive and nice waitress. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, shrimp Shumai, sides of fried rice, shrimp udon and spicy tuna rolls. It was all very good. Biting into the Shumai unlocked an explosion of flavor. The spicy tuna rolls were some of the spiciest I've ever had, I loved them. All of the food is extremely inexpensive. I'm highly disappointed with the management of the restaurant. I bought sushi yesterday evening and a few hours later I vomited the sushi a few hours later. I haven't thrown up from eating food in 8 years. The only food I ate that day was sushi and water. My diet has been consistent daily with the exception of yesterday. I called a few minutes after it happened but they were closed so I called again today. I spoke with management and they asked me to bring the food in. I told them I consumed the food so it's impossible and they said they can't refund my money. When I explained my history and diet they didn't care. They told me to go to the doctor and bring a note but I shared with them I felt normal once my body rejected the food so there's no point. I don't want to expose myself to large crowds of people if I don't have to. Also, me going to the doctor wouldn't change anything because there's still "no proof". It's not even about the money because I could eat at five guys and chick fil a and spend about the same amount. I've ordered takeout at least 100x this year and I've never returned anything. I just wanted to share the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy for their customers. The last thing I would do is fake a meal during the worst pandemic ever. I'll never eat at the place again and I caution y'all to do the same. Shame on you Steven (manager). read more
