I was so excited to finally try Coco and Moss, one of six of Ele Tran's unique and delicious restaurants located in downtown Savannah. I'm a huge fan of chef Tran's other restaurants, like Flying Monk Noodle Bar and Little Duck Diner. Each restaurant is throughtfully created and has its own unique theme and menu to pair -- Coco and Moss is a cocktail and sushi bar with a modern but trendy interior. I was told the poke bowls and sushi are delish, and I have to confirm that that's true. I opted for the Pretty in Pink bowl - it's your standard poke bowl with salmon, pickled and regular cucumber, red onion, mango, cherry tomatoes, avocado, served over a fresh bed of rice -- you can't mess it up. I added a quick splash of soy sauce to tie everything together and it hit the spot! The mango added that perfect contrast of sweetness that really helped balance the savoriness of the entire bowl. The fish is fresh and the portions are large, you really get what you pay for! Love it here. This was my second time visiting. The staff was friendly and the upkeep of the establishment is great. The bathroom was clean and smelled good. I lovedddddd the Mexican roll. So yummy. I wasn't mad at the snapper roll. I'm just not a fan of cream cheese on sushi so I couldn't bring myself to love it but it was still tasty. You can totally get it without the cream cheese. It had a fun decor, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and was not overly crowded. The food was absolutely incredible. I'm still thinking about it . We got a corner booth and ordered cocktails (the green tea old fashioned was my husband's favorite), rolls (they even made a special one for my son), miso soup, and seaweed salad. Ive got to say this place is worth a go if anyone hasn't been and is curious. I was surprised and delighted. I dont eat sushi but my wife does, so even if you aren't into sushi there are some great cooked dishes. I had the "Pigs on the Green". If you like pork belly this bowl is your jam. Tender smoky pork belly over a bed of brown rice and quinoa. There was cool crunchy veg, cilantro and even a few slices of beet. It came with a balsamic dressing but I didn't even use it. Just some chili oil from the condiment jar and I was good to go. Awesome plate of food. My wife had tuna and eel nigiri and the catapilar roll. She liked every bit of it. We also started our lunch with some edamame which was perfect and some miso soup. I'd skip the miso soup, pretty bland but not terrible. Hannah our waitress was fantastic. Super nice and attentive. I'd eat the Seoul Mate bowl three times a week if I could. It's that good. Over the years I've worked my way through most of the menu and have always been happy with my meal. It's a bit more pricey than other sushi places in Savannah. Salmon nigiri (9/10): good quality fish! What more to say. Spicy salmon roll (8/10): great roll, was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of sauce. Hamachi hand roll (10/10): I love hamachi, and I ordered a second plate on top of that. Spider roll (8/10): very good again! Standard spider roll. Crab was bigger than I expected which was nice. Again, a bit overwhelmed with the sauce. Service was decent, had to get our waiter's attention when ordering the second roll because he was hovering by the host area even though it was slow. Lovely wrap-around booth seating with large windows to people watch and let light in. Coming back to Savannah and visiting this place every now and then makes me feel at home. read more
