A little gem just off City Market. Sushi rolls are featured, as would be expected. Fish selection is narrow. However, hand rolls (temaki) have their own section on the menu. For sashimi/nigiri your choices are salmon, tuna, yellow tail and eel. But blue crab is offered in rolls both temaki and maki. The fish is fresh, the rice is nicely seasoned and formed. There is no wasabi applied underneath the nigiri, but is offered on the side. Each dish presented with an orchid petal. What is offered is offered with excellent execution and highest quality ingredients at a very reasonable price. Include cocktails you would see in Tokyo with authentic Japanese spirits, short and serviceable sake list, and excellent service. We travelled earlier in the year for three weeks in Japan. The offerings here show in comparison well. One really minor quibble...minor minor: the facade of the sushi counter itself precludes the interaction between senseis with the knife and senseis with the palate. Whoever it was.... Genius! Great combination of flavors on that roll. However, the crunchy roll was my favorite. The textures, the flavors, this roll was melt in your mouth good. On our way to Pounce Cat Cafe, I stopped here for a quick snack with my teenage daughter. She loves sushi so we tend to get sushi at some point no matter what city we're in. To start, the service was amazing. A table was ready as soon as we walked in - it was around 6PM on a Saturday. The waiter showed up immediately and poured water for us. I ordered miso soup. She ordered four hand rolls: Shrimp, crab, salmon and spicy tuna. The hand rolls were each cut into four pieces. We expected them to be cut into 6 pieces. Our waiter did tell us that it would be cut into four pieces when we ordered, but we would've ordered two more rolls if we thought harder about it. Before the food came, my daughter dropped her water. We didn't even have to call a waiter over. Two people showed up almost out of nowhere and started cleaning the table, brought her a new water and gave her a few napkins to clean off. It was cleaned up so fast - it felt like nothing happened. The miso arrived first and it was super flavorful! The sushi arrived next and my daughter ate every piece and wanted more! After having a late lunch, we didn't want something too heavy for dinner. Honestly didn't know where to go that evening. We had passed by cocoa and moss multiple times and the food looked really good. So we decided to try it. Sushi is one of my favorite foods and I have been fortunate enough to have had some really great sushi experiences. Cocoa and moss didn't disappoint either! We didn't have a reservation and arrived around 8 on a Sunday night. They were busy, so we did have to wait and sat at their outdoor tables while we waited for people to clear out. We waited about 5-10 minutes. The interior is really chic with Asian flare, very cute and aesthetic. I ordered the crunchy roll, my mothered ordered the "pigs on the green" warm bowl, and my grandmother ordered one of the salads with cooked fish. I was very satisfied with my sushi roll and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had salmon, eel, cream cheese, and asparagus, along with a variety of sauces. It had a nice kick to it, the fish was really fresh, and the rice was warm when it was served. You could see them making the rolls, there was a lot of passion behind the food! My mom REALLY enjoyed her bowl, and I tried some of it and thought it was amazing as well. The pork was so flavorful and worked harmoniously with other flavors in the bowl. It was large and filling too. Didn't skimp on the meat. Probably will try one of their bowls next time I eat there. My grandmother doesn't like raw fish. She ordered a salad bowl with a cooked fish, although I cannot recall exactly what she ordered. She really enjoyed it though. We had a very nice experience at cocoa and moss. The staff it very attentive, they keep the restaurant very clean, and ensure you have a nice experience. Although they're in a prime location, right in the middle of city market of downtown Savannah, the restaurant is very quaint and was quiet on a Sunday evening. The service here was one of the best I've experienced. They were so accommodating! For example, I ordered the pretty in pink bowl without realizing that the salmon would be raw, and I just couldn't eat all that raw salmon, so I kindly asked our server if it could be cooked although it was no fault on their part and without hesitation, he took it back to the kitchen and remade the dish for me with cooked salmon, and brought it back shortly after. So very pleased with every aspect of our dining experience. My friend and I looked at the menu while passing by and immediately knew we wanted to eat here. We had a cute table for too outdoors. The inside was also very clean and appealing but it was a beautiful day. I got the Bohemian Chicke and she got the Tuna in the Garden. Both bowls were very full and every ingredient was fresh. Stopped in for a quick bite after venturing through most of the squares in downtown Savannah. I ordered the Tuna Tartare and the Sesame Salmon Tartare. Both plates were beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches for a delightful presentation. The fish was fresh and cut into the perfect sizes for the tartare. There were chunks of fish and not small smashed up like pieces that a lot of other restaurants carry out. The seaweed salad as the base was well marinated and the avocado was freshly cut to showcase the perfect textures and vibrant colors of each dish. I enjoyed both servings very much. My server was great and offered to make the house special cocktail for the day which was some concoction of vodka and blueberry purée topped with some form of a toasted orange peel. Really tasty and refreshing. I observed a couple who sat a few tables down from me enjoying a gigantic platter of sushi and I'm told this restaurant is known for their poke bowls. Very cute place for dinner! We came on a weekday around 5pm when they opened and were seated immediately. I'd imagine that they would be busier on the weekend and later into the night as the restaurant did get full an hour in (but not to the point that there was a wait). There is street parking in front of the restaurant, which we easily parked at during a weekday. The food was fairly priced and definitely had some great options to choose from. I got the 5 hand roll set, which was a bit different than I imagined. I had imagined the hand held cone shaped rolled but these are small cut rolls. We started with edamame and then enjoyed handrolls and a couple of other rolls. The hand rolls were not the type of cone shaped rolls you hold in your hand like an ice cream cone, but rather were sliced into four servings, more like maki. All of the rolls were fantastic. The rolls looked so pretty that I did not want to eat them. The rolls were fresh and delicious. We ate them all! The decor of Coco & Moss was different from the other places I have been in Savannah. It sits on a corner off one of the cutest quintessential squares in Savannah, the decor is chic and artsy, it's clean and bright with windows in front of every table and the bar is the center focal point.
