Back for our 2nd year. Added the Cream of Crab Soup and Blueberry Crunble Cheesecake, incredible! We even had a dolphin appearance after dinner.

I was looking for a dish that was fried for dinner. I wanted fresh fish and also just some me time. I am so glad I stumbled upon this place. I sat and the bar. The bartender was AWESOME! She greeted me right away and provided me with a menu. I didn't know what I wanted to drink, just something islandy :-)She made me the best Mai Tai. The grilled Mahi was so so delicious! The freshness of the fish as well as the seasoning made it one to write home about. The regulars were also kind to this visitor which is always appreciated.

Amazing! We were greeted immediately, had the best service and fantastic food. It was so great to see all the family helping out! Especially the kids!

We enjoyed eating here. Dinner was a blackened mahi sandwich and a grilled grouper fillet. The fish was excellent. The sides of hush puppies, slaw, & fries were ok. The margarita was very good. Our server, Olivia was delightful. The view of the water & marina can't be beat. I love the old school vibe.

This place was so disappointing -- especially after it having been hyped up so much. The day we stopped by for lunch they were sorely understaffed. The servers and the kitchen were both overwhelmed and not handling well. Can't imagine how they'll operate as the season gets busier. We placed our order and it felt like it was taking forever. I checked and saw that we'd been waiting quite awhile. I was tired of sitting so I stood up. A gal who I assumed was the manager came over to tell me that our order had only (!!) been placed 36 minutes ago and that they were not a fast food restaurant. Another server got our food for us -- two bowls of their "famous" seafood gumbo -- that only needed to be dished up. The other problem was that the 3 small grilled shrimp on top of the soup were the only seafood in the entire dish. We had planned on ordering something else to eat after the soups, but decided to leave. The poor guys sitting next to us had to wait 20 minutes for a club soda. The server forgot to get their side salads entirely. They mentioned it when the server came by after 10 more minutes and they finally got them after they'd finished their sandwiches. There were a lot of folks waiting for a table. Several parties left in frustration. There were open tables, but they were not seating anyone for over a half hour. So unless you're not planning on doing much else the day you stop by, you might reconsider dining here.

Well, what can I say? We just finished our third night of dining at the wonderful Bubba Gumbo's. If the atmosphere of a wonderful dive bar nestled amongst the Marina, seafood market, kayak rentals and charter boat excursions and jet ski rentals doesn't get you then the food most certainly will. Over the 3 nights and oh, by the way, one takeout lunch, we had the crabcake dinner, the low country boil, steamed local shrimp, grilled local Snapper, fried local flounder fried oysters, hush puppies with honey butter and for that lunch, I mentioned, I had the hamburger and their seafood gumbo. With all that great food, you also have to mention all the great people. There was Sam and Todd behind the bar and of course the owners Caitlin (Kaitlyn...not sure of spelling) and Anna. All of these people. And so many more work very hard to make this an outstanding destination. I can't finish this review without once again saying, how important local flavor is to this restaurant. That includes the people that frequent the restaurant like Shane, who runs the kayak business Tara, who runs the charter boat business and Dan, who runs a Airbnb with a houseboat. All of these amazing people and amazing food will guarantee that I will continue to go back there to experience everything and everyone.

Shrimp & Grits. Fried Flounder Crab Stew

Was pretty exited to try this place. I got Crab Stew and Shrimp and Grits. I expected the crab stew to blow me away. It didn't. It was ok. Not something I'd get again. The Shrimp and Grits was what I really wanted to try. Again, they were ok. Not something I'd rave about, but they were fine. Wife had fried Flounder. It was absolutely fantastic. Definitely the star of the show.

Good hush puppies. I'd say order out rather then eat in, though. It's pretty cramped.

A+ straightforward seafood. Can't go wrong with the flounder or shrimp and grits. Key lime pie is worth a try too.

Ask the Community - Bubba Gumbo's

    Do they take reservations?

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty much they will. When we went, we called ahead and asked if we'd be able to get a table for a relatively large group of seven, and they reserved a spot. But that was during a slow season.

    Is it Dog Friendly?

Yes! Dogs are welcome on our outside deck as long as they are on a leash

Do not get the coffee at Sea Wolf Tybee…read more In Sea Wolf's defense, our server told me as such. I ordered coffee, and he practically begged me not to. "Imagine Folgers... but worse," he said. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.

My "Cadillac margarita" was Jose Cuervo and store-bought, bottled mix. The crab stew was gloop without crab meat. The french fries were the least unpleasant thing I had, but didn't come quickly from the under-heated frying oil. My wife's mussels were fresh and, in and of themselves, good, but they were served plain. No delicious Italian-cuisine-inspired tomato-based sauce for you! No baguette slices with whipped butter for you! They came with a single lemon wedge and a 2 oz plastic portion control cup of olive oil, butter and salt. This joint is a gloop-serving tourist trap. Go to Zunzibar instead! I'll post my five star review of Zunzibar soon.

What you find inside is a nicely appointed restaurant with a beautiful long bar which we highly recommend you eat at. Our bartender Christy was amazing. But more about her later, right now I will talk about the food. We started with the margarita scallops, which was chunks of seared scallops soaked in margarita on toasted wonton chips with a black bean corn, salsa and drizzle with a local aioli, YUM! We also had their fried green tomatoes, which came with apricot horseradish sauce and aoli. Kiki had the catch of the day, which was a grilled piece of grouper atop mediterranean couscous and a medley of mediterranean vegetables. I had the prime rib, which came with lobster Chili Churri butter and a brandy peppercorn sauce. Both entrees were amazing. Now back to our bartender Christie. To say that she wears many hats is an understatement. She greeted us when we sat at the bar, by the way, did I mention that you can reserve seats at the bar? She described the menu items in a way that you only expect to find from a waiter in the finest restaurants in the world. She addressed any and all allergy issues relating to these dishes all the while she is making drinks for patrons at the bar as well as handling the service bar for all the patrons in the restaurant. Without missing a beat, she takes our order.Buses plates from other customers and continues to make drinks for everybody in the restaurant. At this point I think I told her her new nickname should be the Flash. At one point during our dinner, we saw her serve a bottle of wine to another couple at the end of the bar.
