5 stars for ambiance and atmosphere, 5 stars for service, 5 stars for working with food allergies, 3 stars for food and 2 stars for drinks. That pretty much sums this place up. Saved you from reading the rest. This spot was picked for an engagement party. Apparently it's a local hit and a must at stop when in Tybee. Huge dirt parking lot leads to a cluster of beach-like huts spread out across the campus. If you have kids, then this is a hot spot. Be prepared for higher prices here! I loved the atmosphere here. And if it wasn't for the weak ass drinks, I'd say it would be a great spot for happy hours. Yes, it took 4 drinks for me to get a buzz and that was mostly due to the beer I had at the start. Nothing from the banana daiquiri, Bloody Mary or the shot I had. I'm not a heavyweight and hadn't had a drink in a couple days prior. Service was stellar. We had a huge party of about 20 and they were on top of it. The half dozen oysters I had were large oysters but $20 still felt like I was being cheated. Felt is a keyword, because I've had a dozen oysters for $24 that were much much smaller. My meal (deviled crab) was ok. The slaw was ok. Everything food-wise was just ok. The shot I ordered was a concoction they made up because they didn't have the ingredients for a buttery nipple. It was gross and I could not finish it. Overall, they did a great job with our party and navigating around food allergies. I would recommend for large parties, children and anyone with food allergies.

We opted to sit outside because the weather couldn't have been better. We had a view of a canal where we were able to see some dolphins swimming around which was fun to see. To start our meal we ordered a bucket of steamed oysters (we had to shuck them but it wasn't to hard) For our main course we decided on a Half and Half Seafood Boil and a Snow Grab plate was the perfect amount for us to share. We did order a couple of the local beers they had in stock and they all were very good.

If you're looking for the full Tybee Island experience, this is it. We ordered the **snow crab boil**, plus crawfish and clams, and honestly we were in heaven. Everything was fresh, seasoned perfectly, and exactly what you hope for when you're craving a seafood boil. The beer was ice cold, which made it even better. The setting is what really makes this place special. You're eating right on the water, the picnic tables have built-in trash cans for all the shells, and the whole place has a laid-back, old-school coastal vibe that's hard to find anymore. After we finished eating, we fed the alligators, which was such a fun way to end the meal. This is one of those places you remember long after your trip. We'll be coming back every time we're in the Savannah/Tybee area.

The mashed taters were horrible. The wife got the shrimp and sausage boil with corn and potatoes. Not a lick of seasoning. The potatoes were cooked well but 0 and I mean 0 flavor. Shrimp seemed fresh but again 0 flavor. I guess they are afraid of old bay or any seasoning for that matter. The sausage was also not good at all. Not sure what kind they use but it is not good. Stop and check the place out but eat somewhere worth your money.
My friends and I spent Labor Day weekend on Tybee Island. After a 7 Hour roadtrip from Tennessee, The Crab Shack was our first stop and we were not disappointed. Great food and drinks, beautiful location right by the water, and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!
The food is fast and delicious! I had the crab and shrimp boil. Also, there are 40 alligators you can feed, 13 kitty cats to pet, and 13 birds. We went at night and they have it lit up so pretty. The ambiance is pirate like and awesome. The service was absolutely terrific, too. I 1000% recommend driving over here to eat if you are visiting Savannah.
This place is all about show. It's a great for families with kids and large parties. There is a bird room with interesting unique birds and there is an alligator lagoon in which you can buy food to feed the baby gators. There are a few venue spots and the view from the outside table areas is scenic on the water. The service, however, well let's say is busy. They will take your order once, check on you once to see if you want more drinks, and then bring you the bill and state the total out loud (weird). I asked the server to take a family photo of us and it was not welcomed. The photo did not come out well so I won't post it. Overall, this is a unique spot to experience, but don't go for the food or service.
The price to food ratio here is the biggest part of why it got 4 stars. The food itself was actually really good. The atmosphere as beautiful with a nice view of the water and cool seating and unique tables. The service however was terrible. I felt as if I had to tell my waiter how to do his job. The water also tasted horrible as well. The food was good, cool restaurant, mid service.
Amazing food and service! We got the platter for two and it was huge! Plenty of leftovers! I recommend the deviled crab and the snow crab legs! I will definitely come back! It was that good!
This place was so fun we ate there twice during our week trip in Tybee. We had the Captains platter for 2 which feed my family of 4. It was so nice to sit outside on the covered patio and walk around after dinner. Staff was all so friendly and helpful. My kids loved seeing the alligators and finding the cats around the property. Cats are super friendly and let the kids pet them.
I'm so sorry, but there was no flavor in my shrimp boil. Potatoes had no taste and sausage was not good. Left most of my food on my plate. Husband got clam chowder and said it was okay. He also got a chilli dog because he is not a seafood person. I think this is just a tourist trap.
Such a cool place! There were birds, cats, and alligators all in one place! Our waiter was really nice and understanding since it was our first time here. Our food was all really good and we were stuffed afterwards. Only thing i would complain about is flies.

We got great seats by the water. I got the deviled crab cakes which I loved!!! The potatoes that it came with however, were not wonderful. My cousin got the crab legs and shrimp which I tired and thought it tastes super fresh and good. My son got the kids pizza and he loved it! However, terrible daiquiris. Like we could barely finish them they were so bad. read more

Today we stopped at the crab shack for lunch. Calliope was not impressed but did like the cats and alligators. Tony and I have been coming here for about 10 yrs when we are in the area but its lacking its original charm Staff could be friendlier!! They need French fries for kids..$7 for a (lack luster) bowl of mac n cheese, is too pricey! There is nothing else!! No sides for free you have to pay Ala carte for drink and side..and literally Boxed Kroger Mac n cheese was better than this!! She took 1 bite and wasn't having it, so it went into trash Next time for the first time in 10 yrs, we will try another seafood restaurant too many to waste our hard earned money here out of loyalty to our original meal there!! The 3 stars was for the ambience and decor not food and service, that was barely a star!! read more

I've been to Tybee Island a number of times but never stopped in to this place. Well, I know why now. Great atmosphere, great service but the food? I'll pass. I know every place has their own spin on a boil and yeah other restaurants not in a seafood area can go crazy with the different seasonings, but this boil didn't even have "Old Bay" on it! Cold corn, tasteless potatoes, and mushy shrimp! Very disappointing. My wife had the crab leg boil which she said the crab legs were good, but again no seasonings. You get a lot of food for what you pay for but what good is it if there is no flavor. Will I give it another try when we come back to Tybee/Savannah? Possibly but will try other seafood places for comparison. read more

I begrudgingly give this restaurant three stars based solely on the ambiance. I have gone to The Crab Shack for years when I lived in the south ( have not been in three years) . I've enjoyed the seafood boil every visit. I'm not sure why but unbeknownst to us our Captain's Crab Sampler for two was completely unseasoned and could not have been more bland, and I must mention it was also served with cold sausage, cold and undercooked corn and potatoes. If my memory serves me we used to be able to choose the level of spice? I will say, our beers did manage to not be served cold however. I brought an out of town guest who had never had a seafood boil before and suffice to say he doesn't care to have another one. The ambiance did have its usual and typical pirate charm and the service was attentive. This was the only saving grace for the visit. What a shame and what a disappointment this was, but if you only want to visit a place for its cute ambiance this is your choice. read more
I really enjoyed this spot, I was craving seafood and saw all the signs to go. It's on the water, has decent views & a nice ambiance. The oysters were surprisingly big & tasty. The Low country boil was seasoned and they gave a lot of shrimp. Julie was very attentive and have great service. They have a Gator area where you can feed or just look at the gators it's a pretty cool spot. read more

If the overall vibes didn't bring you here, the food will! The goal was crab legs and we found this place. You pull in and it looks like a beach shack, tons of parking. They have alligators on site which is fun to walk around and look at before/after you eat. It also sits on the water so we got a table next to it so we can have a good view during lunch. The crab legs and mussels were perfectly cooked. Delicious, butter to dip in, the whole shebang. Messy, flavorful, and juicy, exactly what you want if you're looking to break open some shells. Best part is they have a garbage right in the middle of the table to throw scraps in, and they have a sink to wash up in the dining room rather than getting the bathroom all greasy! 10/10 for planning that one! The service was good, we got sat right away and she got us everything we needed. I would recommend and would come back! read more
We got the captain sampler plate for 4. It had crab legs, mussels, crawfish, shrimp, potato's, corn and sausage. The service was pretty quick and our server kept bringing us drink refills. The seafood was pretty good but the crawfish was okay. It was not very fresh. All the other seafood was good and well seasoned. Also wish the corn was a little more seasoned. The indoor dining area was definitely hot and felt congested. I preferred the outdoor seating. I also wish they had more drink options like Dr Pepper. I got a lemonade and it was out of syrup cause it only taste like lemon water. Overall, a good place to go before or after tybee. read more

We spent over 2 hours here! We especially loved the lady at the gift shop. She smiled a lot and was so friendly. We got a few items since she was so cheerful. Feeding the gators were fun. $5 for 4 piecs of gator good, which we got two bags. Put it on a end of a fishing line, drop it down with the pole, then the gators eats the piece of food in the water. Snow cone was $2 each, very reasonable. Food was very fresh and delicious. I was impressed. The snow crab was very fresh. Mussels, shrimps, crawfish, sausages and potatoes were seasoned well, not too salty. Will come again! read more

Was dying for some seafood while on Tybee island, and had seen some good reviews for this place online. The good: - The seafood was fresh with lots of Old Bay :) - Very cool baby alligator haven (you can buy alligator food for a few dollars to feed them), and a bird house for animal lovers. - lots of seating, no need for a reservation - attentive service, waitress checked on us several times despite it being a busy lunch rush The less good: - we ate outside, and by nature of being close to the water there were a lot of small bugs flying around the food - a bit expensive for the very casual experience (though the seafood was good) Overall, good seafood on Tybee Island. This is a very casual joint, though the prices don't necessarily reflect that. read more

Back again! This time with family. Wanted them to experience the amazing low country boil in such a unique dining area with a water view. If you are seeking an authentic southern seafood experience, this is it! The parking & exterior appearance will make you call your choice into question. Just wait! The inside is like dining on a deck in a treehouse. It's tiki summer fun charm, and the food and service are outstanding! Great for kids too! Theres an alligator sanctuary where you can feed them, exotic bird area, arcade and gift shop. Multiple bar areas, huge dining area. This is mostly open air with very little cover from the elements, so i am not sure what they do if it's raining or bad weather. No reservations. Good for groups. If theres a wait, WAIT! Once again great food and very friendly and attentive service. Cant wait to come back on next visit to Tybee. read more
I loved this place. As someone who was born and raised in south Florida, this felt exactly like going to Robbie's in the keys. The food, gift shop, outside and vibes felt exactly the same. It made me super happy and felt like I was at home. If you don't wanna eat I'd recommend at-least coming for the vibes alone. Grab a drink and see the water and walk around. The staff were also so sweet. While in the gift shop the one woman picked up the kittens and introduced me to each of them. So cute!! read more

The vibes at this place is just what you expect when you're on vacation. Our waitress was attentive and the food came out really fast even though we came on a tour bus with 24 other people! I deducted some points because as I understand this is a seafood spot, that there isn't a lot of options for the non seafood eaters. I had a BBQ Pork Sandwich and it was ok. I had a cocktail and it was good. It's a typical tourist trap in the way of that there is an area for alligators and you can buy overpriced dog food to feed them. This place screamed coastal South. It served its purpose with the alligators and the gift shop - a true tourist trap with lots of stuff to do. We went for lunch. It was fine, but I learned I'm not a crawfish lover. The shrimp also could have been cleaned a little bit better. I was not a fan of the butter either. How does one mess up melted butter? I don't know, it just was odd. I did enjoy my crab cake. That was the best part of the meal and worth it. Service was fine. Nothing of note. I don't think I'd return but I can see why people go here. This place is awesome. Honestly probably one of my favorite places I've ever eaten at. We split a 4 person boil between 5 people and still had leftovers. The shellfish was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was delicious. Also bonus points for the gator feeding. Only think that could make it better is indoor seating. The crab shack was one of our favorite spots to eat on our vacation to Savannah. We shared the captains sampler platter for 1 because we had just eaten a late lunch but honestly I think that would have been enough even if we hadn't. There was plenty of snow crab, shrimp, mussels, sausage, and potato, and one small corn. We learned how to eat crawfish here lol. We had leftovers we had to ditch sadly. Love the layout having the garbage can in the middle of the table to discard all the scraps and the cocktail sauce on the table in ketchup bottles. We also tried the crab dip which was delicious. Service was great and the ambiance was stunning with tons of seating outside and twinkly lights all around. We will definitely come back if we are ever back in Savannah for more crab! read more

The treatment of the parrots and birds really concerned me. Where are they from? How are they taken care of?
The birds have been not really donated, but given to the crab shack. If you read the papers on the cages, I believe it says. Many of them have been given from people who know that the shack takes care if the birds. They always have food and water…
Is there live music there on Sundays?
Hi Crystal! The Crab Shack does not offer live music, but there is Sirius Radio Margaritaville playing throughout the entire restaurant. Be sure to feed the baby alligators in the Gator Lagoon and visit the rescued exotic birds in the Gift Shack…
Would we be able to bring our 2 dogs , a 65 lb Golden Retriever & Collie mix he's @ 65lbs &our 10year old Brussels Griffon?
They have cats the freely roam the property and animals in their store to view...I believe dogs have been there but have to be kept super close to the owner. Personally, I don't reccomend bringing larger dogs as the space between the seatings is not…
