This is a cute little place to eat. It is not a deli though, so the name is confusing. The wait staff is very friendly. The food is pretty good but maybe not as good as the price. Meaning it was very expensive. Everything was ala carte. Don't get the fries.

Cuban

Saturday we were out driving around St. Augustine and decided to stop in at Drake's Deli for the first time. We came in just before 2pm (they close at 3), got seated right away, and our waitress brought menus and drinks. We ordered three sandwiches -- Drake's Last Stand, a Cuban, and the Gobble Gobble. The Gobble Gobble was pressed, but the stuffing was cold. I did like how they wrapped the turkey around the stuffing to keep it from squeezing out while eating -- that was clever. The Last Stand was good but needed more sauce (at least according to my husband), though by the time he could ask for it, he was already full. Our daughter had the Cuban, but comparing it to others, she still prefers Sonny's version with the seasoned pulled pork or Dominic's Deli down in Flagler. Food was fine, but honestly, the vibe was a little off. We overheard staff conversations that probably shouldn't have been out loud (like newer servers not being trusted to make change). At one point, while cashing us out, our waitress actually yelled across the restaurant for someone to stop touching things. It kind of gave a "regulars club" feel -- like if you're not a local, you don't quite fit in. When we left, there wasn't even a "thanks for coming" or "see you next time," which sort of confirmed that. One thing that really surprised me was the sides. Tator tots, fries, and chips are all extra -- nothing comes with the sandwich. Tots were $4.66 for 10 pieces, and the chips were just a small basket for the same price. Honestly, I think a small bag of chips should be included, and then give people the option to upgrade to fries or tots for an upcharge. Also, a heads-up: even though they close at 3, they stop seating at 2:30. While we were eating, a couple came in at 2:39 and were told it was to-go only. That could definitely catch newcomers off guard. Overall, it was okay. Sandwiches were average, service was so-so, sides felt overpriced, and the atmosphere leaned more toward "locals hangout" than welcoming new faces. Not sure it's a place we'd rush back to.

Great local place for bf or lunch. Huge portions and great fries. Skip the tourist joints and support locals for great food!

Assorted croissant sandwiches- so tasty!

Our brunch caterer canceled the day of a wedding for one of my bridal clients and i was scrambling to get an order for my girls. The owner Tammy was FABULOUS and able to get together 2 platters of the most delicious and fresh hoagie sandwiches and croissant sandwiches. Perfect for the bridal party to eat on while getting ready. Fantastic experience all around and I will most definitely be using and recommending Drake's Deli in the future!

1/2 Ham Sandwich and homemade Clam Chowder

Drake's Deli in St. Augustine is one of my favorite places to have lunch. It is a charming place that leaves you with the best impressions. The staff are hospitable (especially Kaitlyn), it has the feel of your home kitchen as the front of the house talks openly with the back of the house. All the sandwiches are delicious. Today we enjoyed the 2015 Salad, which comes with a yummy house garlic oregano vinaigrette. 1/2 ham sandwich on the freshest white bread and crisp toppings, cup of homemade clam chowder with fresh chunks of red potatoes and tender clams and to finish it all off, a homemade cinnamon roll, that comes out like a cupcake with lots of cream cheese icing. It was a little too much icing for me. Sometimes you need a little patience as they make everything as it's is ordered, but it's worth the wait if you have one. The prices are great and they do a lot of take out orders. I would like to come back here, again and again.

The food is mostly sandwiches, wraps and salad but really good. Service is spectacular so nice and sweet and accommodating. The ambiance if you eat IN is definitely bistro like. A little pricey but worth it. Italian sub and Cuban sandwich has been my faves so far.

Conquistador - tasty but a little dry
Team KP S.

Great lunch spot and lots of excellent sandwich options to cover anyone's preferences! Our party of four stopped in yesterday and our waitress was friendly and efficient! I will say that towards the end of our meal she disappeared and left us hanging for a bit. So long that another person brought us our checks and then eventually came back to run our cards. It didn't ruin our meal by any means, but it was unnecessary. We had 2 gobble sandwiches and they were pretty tasty! Not the best we have had, but most acceptable and better than average! They needed a little more of the cranberry. We also had the conquistador, it was very flavorful but needed some acid and maybe a little mayo - the bread was possibly over toasted and it made it a dry sandwich to bite through. And we had the Blue Dream, pretty tasty as is! Our fries were all hot and fresh! We did try a cheese dip sauce for the fries and it was unusual, hard pass on that option - no flavor, too thick, and a little off putting. Overall, this is a solid lunch spot! We all would like to try it again and see what other sandwiches they could put together for us! It was quaint inside, a little dated, reminded us of an Italian movie where a mobster sat in the back running his bookies... I liked it! But it, could use a refresher! To those about to dine, I salute you!!

This is hands down the best sandwich spot in town and possibly even Florida. Don't forget to get the hummingbird cake, it is oh so worth it.

One of the coolest touches? A TV disguised as a piece of art that's actually a live stream of downtown St. Augustine. Such a fun, unique detail! Now let's talk food I ordered the shrimp and grits tacos, and WOW--they were packed with flavor. The grits added this unexpected crunch that worked so well with the shrimp. The textures blended perfectly and made every bite interesting. My husband went for the Miyagi beef tacos... and let's just say there were zero leftovers. He cleaned his plate, which says everything. Great vibes, creative food, and a memorable experience all around. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to!

It got pretty busy while we were there, but impressively, they were running with just one server--and he absolutely held it down. Despite the crowd, he stayed attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly, which really stood out. The menu is where things get especially interesting--unique, playful, and definitely not your standard fare. I tried the chicken apple pie sandwich, which was as unexpected as it sounds. It was fun, different, and surprisingly good! It is one of those dishes you won't find just anywhere. Husband loved his upscale bologna sandwich and the waffle fries were yummy! Overall, Treylor Park delivers on atmosphere and creativity. It's a great spot if you're looking for something a little outside the box with a fun, energetic vibe and memorable food.

This is a beautiful little restaurant, we were greeted once we entered by a very friendly hostess, she directed us to the pastry counter once she understood our intentions - everything looked delicious and after only a minute or two a friendly member of the staff prepared our order (2) slices of wedding cake. This is definitely a restaurant I'd return to for lunch based on the food I observed while waiting for our takeout, everything looked delicious. Unfortunately the wedding cake was so disappointing it was pre-sliced and wrapped in the case, it was very cold and heavy, the filling was very thin but made the layers soggy like it had been made a few days earlier and sat and it had very little icing - this was so disappointing especially after going out of our way to get here and fighting the St. Augustine traffic. I'd like to try something from their sandwich menu and maybe a loaf of their fresh baked bread but definitely will avoid anything out of the dessert case...

One would think there's not much you can do with a grilled cheese sandwich, but the Grilled Cheese Gallery proves that assumption wrong. There are 13 amazing and creative choices of grilled cheese here. Don't like grilled cheese? They also serve salads, poutine, mac & cheese grilled sandwiches, ice cream and other desserts. This is Comfort Food headquarters! There were actually so many choices it was hard to choose. I chose A Night in Amsterdam: Gouda, Gruyere, Swiss, Cheddar, on Artisan White. My wife had The Queen Brie: House cured bacon, French Brie, Raspberry Puree, Balsamic on Sourdough. My Amsterdam was quite a creation: three slices balanced on a pedestal with cheese trailing down more than a foot. It was delicious! My wife lauded her Queen Brie as well. We wish we had more time in Saint Augustine as this place is definitely worth a second visit.

We ordered: the Amsterdam, the Artist, the Queen Brie, and the Classic (2 sandwiches). Three of us upgraded to a small cup of tomato soup (each order comes with a mini cup for dipping). I was the lucky person who ordered the Amsterdam, which, much to our surprise and delight, was served on a hook with melted cheese stretching down to the tray it was served on. Everyone had to take a photo of my sandwich! It contained a variety of cheeses, so while the taste was fairly classic, it was a bit more nuanced than the Classic sandwich, which only had cheddar cheese. Everyone else thought their sandwiches were delicious too. And we all loved the homemade tomato soup! I tend to be a bigger fan of creamy tomato soups, but this one was rich with umami flavor and had a bit of a kick. While this is a counter-service restaurant that's pretty much no-frills, the employees were friendly and helpful. One of them refilled our water cups at the table, even though the pitcher she had was leaking, and I didn't get the sense that they normally did that. Sadly, they don't sell soft serve ice cream any more, but there are so many ice cream shops in this part of St. Augustine that you can easily walk somewhere else for dessert (which we did). The place wasn't crowded on a Friday evening and had lots of menu choices, so if you like grilled cheese sandwiches, whether creative or simple, be sure to stop by the Grilled Cheese Gallery on your visit to St. Augustine!
