Just went to Drakes deli in the new location. It is wonderful. Great place. Great service. Great food. I am so glad we can eat in now. Pretty sure I will be back often. Our lunch group of 12 ladies made our first stop at Drake's Deli & Bistro today. We've been making the rounds every month, this place really did a fabulous job. Drake's was highly recommended by one of our ladies, we were more than happily surprised and delighted with our choices. The service was spot-on, warm, friendly, efficient. Seemed like everyone had a different meal, some had sandwiches, some had salads, some had soup, one also ordered a to-go for a family member at home. Separate checks were no problem at all, a gratuity of 18-20% for a party over 6 people was not added, like many other establishments in th St. Augustine area, we appreciated that, too. Excellent Deli! No really, this isn't just one of the best delis in the area, it's one of the best I've ever been to! Service was kind and attentive but the real star was the food. Drake's has LITERALLY the best deli sandwich you will ever put in your mouth...If I am ever home under-the-weather my aunt will call to see if I want her to bring me a Drake's and a coke. I know I am going to the bad place because I lie regularly so I can have a Blue Dream. And if you wanted to get a rating solely on service, YELP would need to add space for at least 10 stars. They have service with a smile and that is another reason I go back time and again. Seriously, the Blue Dream is my favorite but I have tried other things and everything is astoundingly good. Not the usual vacation garbage. My kid ate the turkey Reuben in 5 flat. It was stacked. She's a buck 10. Hummingbird cake was sooo moist, creamy flavorful not too sweet icing. Perfection. Best I've had. We went here at noon. Didn't need to eat the rest of the day. Just the half sandwiches I had left over. Even though it's small, it's a great atmosphere. The employees are busy, but communicate happily. Great team spirit and it reflects in the food. They take pride in their work and they should. I suggest they sell some refrigerated bags with Drake's Deli printed on them for people going to the beach. Get a deli counter in there for deserts. People want a little something sweet after lunch. A friend of mine and I were looking for a place to eat a pretty late lunch today near the Vilano Boat Ramp. We had a rough fishing day and didn't catch anything so we wanted something good, but reasonably priced. Also, as I mentioned we just came back from a day of fishing, so, had to be quite casual as well. Typed "cheap eats" in Yelp using my current location and this place popped up as the closest, with excellent reviews and seems to fit the bill on casual ambiance. Anyway, as always the Yelp community came through again. This place is really small. There is no inside seating, but there's outdoor seating next to the building. The seating had umbrellas, but may not be enough to help when it rains to hard. The staff was really nice and made us feel welcome even as we were walking in. I ordered the Reuben and it was also pretty good. 2 sandwiches, a bag of chips and a can of soda cost us a little over $20. read more

I work across the street, and Drakes is by far my favorite place to grab lunch. You have the normal eateries around such as Subway and other restaurants, but Drakes is a small shop that makes you feel so at home and welcome. The sandwiches are all fantastic, and I find myself getting something different every time because maybe I want just something light like the BLT, or the delicious Drakes Last Stand with its garlic mayo.
