Apple fritter, long John, glazed donut, blueberry cake donut

I would have never known this little donut shop was even around if I hadn't been looking for some local donut shops. But don't let that fool you, it's a super cute little store and the employees are very sweet. I will be going back because these donuts were super good. My favorite was probably the blueberry cake donut and the apple fritter. Check this donut shop out if you are looking for some good homemade donuts!

Great little neighborhood bakery. I stoped by and grabed a Babys Box for 7.00 3 big/specialty and 3 w/holes. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Love the crispy outside and soft inside. Whenever your in the area definitely give them a try.

What a great place. Super friendly. Wish more places had customer service like them. I got an omelet. So filling. They also have breakfast sandwiches , biscuits and gravy and you can get a breakfast sandwich on a donut. Coffee was good too. They have espresso!

The owners had some kind of huge fight. Most of the equipment is in an empty building across the parking lot. They only serve doughnuts now.

These…read morepatties are clearly fresh, hand-formed, and cooked to order nothing like the frozen, pre formed disks from a school lunch line. If yours tasted bland, maybe you missed that this place leans into fresh ingredients over drowning everything in sauces. Not every burger needs mayo or mustard; some let the beef and toppings speak for themselves. As for the soggy bottom bun yes, fresh veggies release moisture. That happens in seconds anywhere if you don't eat quickly. But calling the whole experience "meh" while admitting you're going back for breakfast? That tells me the place clearly has redeeming qualities. You even said burger preferences are subjective, yet your review reads like an objective takedown. Bottom line: If you want a greasy, sauce slathered chain burger, go to Five Guys. If you want a solid, no-frills non chain burger with good service and plenty of seating (as you noted), this place delivers. And clearly, you agree it's worth a second visit.

We were on the hunt for a really good, non-chain burger. After looking at reviews, we decided to…read moregive this place a try. Service was good. It is not a big place, but plenty of seating. When it came to the food, it was meh at best. We got the jalapeno burger and the avocado burger. The patties are reminiscent of cafeteria burgers in school. There was no mayo or mustard or any type of sauce on them. The bottom bun was soggy shortly after being served, likely due to the veggies. Needless to say, we did not get our burger fix. So we won't come here again for that. Burger preferences are subjective, so just because it wasn't for us doesn't mean you can't try for yourself. We do plan to go back to try the breakfast items though.

The food was excellent! Our order came out quick and was hot. In my opinion the portion size and price were awesome. My wife ordered the Waffle Special, which came with a malted waffle, two eggs, which she had scrambled, and bacon. She added a side of home fries. She loved it! The waffle reminded us of a funnel cake. A slight crispy outer and a soft warm center, with a slight sweetness. Home fries were cooked right as well, crispy outside and tender center. I had the Biscuit and Gravy special, that came with a half order of biscuits and gravy, two eggs, that I ordered over medium, bacon, and hash browns. The biscuits and gravy were exactly what I was wanting. Plenty of gravy, that was seasoned well, over a soft and warm biscuit. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hash browns were cooked the way I like them, crispy on the outside and warm and tender inside. We both loved the bacon! The strips were thicker than most places and actually fried till they were done. We are planning on coming back to try some more menu options.

My plate looked like a kid's meal, and I left hungry. Not what I expect when paying adult prices. Overcooked food: My eggs were rubbery, the bacon was brittle, and the hash browns were burnt on the outside and raw inside. "Perfect" is a fantasy word here. Had to ask for bread yes, you read that right. They don't even bring toast with breakfast unless you beg for it. Basic diner fail. Attentive service? The staff was too busy chatting to notice empty coffee cups or check on food quality. And here's the saddest part: I'd rather go to IHOP and get the wrong order than come back here. At least IHOP fixes it without attitude, and you actually get enough food. I want to support local businesses. But not ones that serve overcooked, overpriced scraps and can't even remember to bring bread. This place didn't replace the old favorite it just lowered the bar. THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR FOLLOWING REVIEWERS TOTALLY MY PERSONAL OPINION

I could describe every experience with this restaurant but I'll leave you with the previous few. And I know what you're thinking, if the food was so bad, why do you keep going back? Well, hope and optimism. Rooting for Roots! We want the local place to succeed, but we've come to the conclusion that what they really need in order to improve, is honest feedback. But part of me hopes that it changes nothing. And here's why... my wife and I love this place. But in a weird way... allow me to explain, imagine the place as a Saturday Night Live sketch where the staff, the menu and ambiance are unapologetically pretentious, but the food doesn't deliver on any level. It's pure entertainment. We have dinner and an inside joke. First of all, for the price, you naturally expect elevated dishes and excellent service. We both had a cocktail, a glass of wine with dinner, an appetizer, entrees, salad and desert. Around $250 with tip. Pricey, but reasonable if the place delivers. On one visit we had the duck, which was served undercooked and when we mentioned it to the waiter, she scoffed, "that's the way it's supposed to be served." So feeling duly chastised for our ignorance, we shut up and ate the duck. I don't know the organism involved, but my wife and I were up all night vying for access to the bathroom. Enough said. Things were dicey, but no trips to the hospital. Six months or so had passed and finally, last night we rolled the dice and tried Roots again. My wife said her dinner was fine. She had stuffed salmon, adequate, but not great. For me, It was between the steak and the pork belly. Now I had the steak before once and it was... well it was definitely a steak. I'm not going to say much about it except for this... if you like the taste of a good glass of water, order the steak. So having experienced the steak already, I ordered the pork belly, which is an extremely tasty and forgiving cut of meat in my experience. But somehow at Roots, they figured out how to prepare it poorly. Yikes! It was dry as a bone, but only in the places where it wasn't tough as shoe leather. It had to have sounded like a rock when it hit the plate. The naturally rich flavor was cooked completely out of it, and any surviving seasonings were successfully burned away during the cremation process. I was starving so I made a valiant effort at finishing it, but it took several glasses of water and an inordinate amount of chewing. My wife laughed at me the whole time. I offered her a bite but she demurred, quipping that it had been a long week and she simply didn't have the energy. It was served with a "slaw" that consisted primarily of a plain sliced onion and slices of flavorless apple devoid of seasoning or dressing. I honestly don't know how this dish made it out of the kitchen, let alone a chef's imagination. It has become a quest for my wife and me. Like the holy grail of dining experiences, only a few minutes from our home. Ever the optimists, we will just keep trying Roots again every six months or so and hope for better on each trip... or not. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, please try Roots. We want them to succeed so we can keep coming back and having these comically terrible experiences. If pretentious irony is your spirit animal, please try roots. And Roots, please keep trying. We will keep spending $250 bucks for "dinner" and a show. PS, to add to your experience, ask for a booth when you arrive for your reservation, they will look you up and down and politely say "no" as they walk you past 4 empty booths. No explanation...

Roots Seasonal Cuisine is one of my favorite spots in Lee's Summit, and my latest happy hour visit…read morereminded me exactly why. I stopped in with my girlfriend Lisa, who loves this place so much they basically have a little corner reserved for her. She likes to work from there because the Wi-Fi is good, the vibe is comfortable, and the food is consistently amazing. We sat at the bar, had a couple glasses of wine, and Austin took great care of us. Lisa had the steak special, which was the ribeye, and I had the salmon. Both were really, really great. The salmon was cooked beautifully and the whole meal was exactly why I keep coming back. One small callout: there was a $3 difference between what the salmon was listed for on the menu and what I was charged. I let Austin know so they could catch it for future guests. It did not change my overall experience, but I appreciated being able to mention it. Brandon, one of the co-owners, is amazing. He came out and spoke with us, and that personal touch is part of what makes Roots feel special. You can tell they care about the food, the service, and the people who come in. Their happy hour is amazing, and their seasonal menu changes are superb. I love coming in and trying different things. The salmon tacos are delicious, the birria fries are a must, and I always look forward to seeing what new crostini they are featuring since those change every few months. Roots is consistent without being boring. Great food, great service, great drinks, and a menu that keeps giving you a reason to come back. Can't wait to come back. See y'all next week.
