This is by far my favorite doughnut shop in KC. If you go in more than once, they will remember you, ask about your family, and fill you in on local events that have an impact on our community. And that's not even to mention the doughnuts! Still warm (even if I get there later than usual.) They have many filling to choose from, and fill them on the spot after you pick! Their fritters are second to none, and the cinnamon rolls are to die for. Prices are amazing. I always tend to go overboard and have a huge box stuffed to the brim, and I don't think I've ever had to spend more than about $15 (and that's including drinks for the kids and a bacon-egg-cheese sandwich!) My wife says the coffee is so-so ... But I'll let someone who actually likes coffee comment to that rather than myself. I noticed some older reviews and was appalled! The customer service! WOW! The ladies are so friendly. They filll the Long John's right in front of you. My daughter who is very picky was not sure which filling she wanted. They actually let her taste all the fillings before getting the donut. We came in for my daughter's birthday and got her a special made donut with a candle and happy birthday greetings. I got a chocolate long John which was really light and fluffy with the angel fluff filling. So good that I don't know if I would ever try anything else. Will definitely be back. AMAZING service and doughnuts! Doing a little KC doughnut tour w/our family and we stopped in after reading some reviews on YELP. We knew it would be good when there where two tables outside full of men eating their donuts (masked up) and visiting. The two ladies working inside were friendly and helpful. I personally got one filled and it was delicious! Crusty on the outside and inside was nice and soft. My daughter got a cinnamon roll doughnut and they offered to heat it up and put butter on it! I first had their donuts when they were provided for a basketball tourney at Raytown South. I fell in love then. The chocolate on the long johns tasted like melted Russell Stover. I have been back frequently in the last 3 years. My kids like the glazed and red velvet. My wife likes the cinnamon rolls. I like anything with one of these three items, chocolate, nuts or cinnamon. They are the best donuts in the KC area and the service is friendly and has a true family feel. Wonderful place. My husband and I were visiting our daughter who recently moved to KC. So...I am not sure who the folks are that wrote reviews back in 2011 but I had a pleasant experience at Doughboys Donuts. I stopped by to pick up donuts for the office and got great service and a free donut because it was my first time there. The place is small, a few booths and the counter. The booths were peppered with cute little old guys drinking coffee, talking and staring at all the people who came and went. This place is a gem if you ask me and my one dozen donuts lasted all of half an hour as opposed to the fare from the well known national chain, most of which have to be dumped at the end of the day. I applaud these owners and their delightful staff. It is hard to keep a business going and it looks to me like they have overcome the issues they had in '11. Try the red velvet and the apple spice but they all look divine. If you are in the area, check it out but for me it is worth a drive to get the goods at this establishment! Their donuts are made fresh daily and delicious. Their cinnamon rolls and apple fritters are to die for but you have to get there early to get the cinnamon rolls. I went there after it had been open for a few weeks, one of the owners isn't nice or friendly, no smile no hello. I'm sorry but if you have a new location and you want people to come back you should at the very least be nice to your patrons. I asked about the Philly Cheeseteaksbecause I am originally from Philly and he said.. "Eh well it is what it is" Ummm.. ok nice way to sell your sandwhich buddy!!! I sure want to buy it now! I go to Doughboys whenever I want to buy donuts for the office. My coworkers and I all love the donuts! Unlike when people bring in donuts from other places, there are never any leftovers when I bring in Doughboys donuts! The people at the counter are very friendly and helpful. They are no longer a deli, though they do serve breakfast on the weekends. These are the very best donuts I've ever had, and I've had my fair share. Several Saturdays in a row they've started to run out of donuts faster than expected. The owners are wonderful people, and we feel like we've known them for years. My wife and I run a local European car club and we pick a new coffee / donut shop to have our club cars and coffee event every month. This month we chose Doughboy's and we could not have been happier. From the time we first reached out to the owner to give a heads up that we were coming to the time we met them and had the event, they were beyond friendly to us and incredibly accommodating. I love Doughboys! They are one of my favorite places to go for fantastic donuts or biscuits and gravy. The owners are courteous, kind and they make visiting a pleasure. New owners for a year or more. Donuts, coffee, ice cream, not sure what else as they seem to serve food sometimes. I come for the donuts. They are very good. I love the fritters, old fashioned and cake donuts the best. The raised are light and fluffy which is not my thing. Everyone else loves those. As for all donut shops, come early for best selection and they close around noon-1 depending on when they sell out. They'll fill a long john with a variety of fillings for free. We had gotten in early this time & there was a wide variety of donuts & other pastries to choose from. My boyfriend & I each ordered a breakfast sandwich (bacon egg & cheese biscuit) & it's by far the best breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time considering it is just a small small-town doughnut shop. Upon picking up my order, they owner asked me what the order was for and I told her I worked for hospice. She then gave me 13 extra full sized donuts on the house to say thank you for the work we do. These are GREAT doughnuts! Today was my first time at this place, and it won't be my last. I decided to pick up some doughnuts for the office this morning, and stopped by here to use a Living Social coupon I had purchased a while back. The lady behind the counter could not have been nicer. Very friendly. She told me the Apple fritters were very popular, and they regularly sell out, so I added a couple to my order. Wow, she was right. One of my co-workers actually emailed me to say that it was probably the best apple fritter he has ever had. I had been driving past his place almost daily for the past 4 1/2 years and kept telling myself that I was going to stop by one day and try them out. Man am I glad I did. The experience was absolutely phenomenal. They were closed, and decided to open the store back up just so that I could buy two donuts. The husband and wife owners could not have been any nicer to me. They were both so kind and sweet. The donuts literally melt in your mouth. They were awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone. If you like Krispy Kreme, you should love doughboys.
