Delicious donuts!! All the donuts were still available even in the afternoon. Great workers they were so friendly and helpful! Went for the 2-5 half off drinks and they were so helpful on telling me which drinks were on sale.

Thanks Baxters! Stopped here while working on the area to cool off and grabbed an ice coffee. Manager is so friendly and helpful with making recommendations. Always want to add that you can tell the energy between the team is good and they were happy to be at work which was nice to see. We went with their new Frescas & a cold brew. Both Yummy! We needed up ordering round two before we left. How could we not, it was happy hour still, 50% off! Def coming back to try the doughnuts .. they were huge!

So so so good - finally!! A close and fresh source for French crullers !!! My absolute favorite donut ever. You can also order online in advance since they shelves clear quickly. The staff are super nice and patient since I've never seen a Baxters menu before and even provided recommendations for their favorite stuff there. They sell fudge and breakfast sandwiches, too. This place is only up the street from me and is now the closest donut/coffee place to my house. I'm just happy to find that they had milk alternatives available - calling all lactose intolerant coffee babes! We've been heard. I'll get more photos soon since I'll obviously be living here part time. Jan 2nd 2023 update: donuts are still great but they've stopped making crullers :( I dunno if it's just high demand or they can't keep up with the machine? I don't know. Also the staff seem to be struggling pretty bad to make lattes accurately. I came in with my brother and they got both our drinks wrong. I came back and had to have them remake it because I do have a dairy allergy and they seemed happy to remake it but the second drink - while dairy free - wasn't what I ordered. I ordered a toffee latte and was handed a sugar free vanilla. I can definitely taste the difference and when I got home I wasn't able to finish it because I really dislike sugar free vanilla. I am keeping their rating at a 5 because I desperately want them to have a great start - I will return and possibly attribute their mistakes today to just having a super over busy day after the holidays passed through. If after a few more visits the issues remain the same I will update the official review. Additionally I had mentioned before that they have an online order option but upon further inspection found that it's very limited to manager specials and requires many days in advance notice. I can't order crullers even in advance? I dunno it just seems more catered to businesses rather than individuals. I'll keep ya posted! Crossing fingers they bring back crullers.

Wonderful donuts! You can get sandwiches her too. This place is even open till 7pm on Saturday. We got here at 3pm on Saturday. Being that this is our first time coming to this location, I thought they would be sold out, but as you can see from the pictures, they weren't! There's plenty of seating space, and it's very clean. The workers were very friendly as well.

We, husband and I, came here today after finding out that this shop opened on Tuesday the 27th. Living nearby, we had seen the entire construction, and anticipated another place to visit for breakfast and hopefully good donuts. This new donut shop has exceeded our expectations. The coffee is decent for the typical brew one would find at a donut shop. It wasn't watered down hot tea, but had decent strength. *I'm cognisant of those who want a good brew. As far as the donuts go, I found them to be delightfully tender. My husband ordered a apple fritter and he said it was very good, better than he expected. I ordered a cinnamon powdered donut (hadn't had one in a while) and found it to be delicious. My other choice was a maple-iced cake donut that was surprisingly moist, not a hard cake donut with crusty icing, such as the type you might find elsewhere. For those who find my review and happen to be traveling through this great little city, down 50 highway, and want something other than the golden arches, just head down Todd George to Langsford and enjoy!

Egg, sausage, ham, bacon, and cheese on a biscuit

Lots of donut choices! And fritters, Danishes, turnovers... And good, quick breakfast sandwiches on biscuits or croissants, and biscuits and gravy. Lots of drink choices in the cold case and fancy coffees available. The donuts are made on-site.

    11 of 12 donuts

Good donuts but they can't count. Received 11 donuts for a dozen. Not a huge issue but a customer notices. Donuts are good nicer employees than Lamar's lees summit.

It's been three consecutive times that I've came and the brew has been on the disappointing week side. If I got something else like a chai, it's been a little on the lackluster side too. They used to have some awesome baristas, and I haven't seen this one barista who made sure things ran smoothly. Yesterday, I noticed customer service really lacking. When I arrived at 11:30 AM the three baristas were all up front and had been attentive, but around 1 PM they had all drifted in back and none would pop their head out to see if anyone had come to the counter. I had stood at the counter for five minutes or so, and had thought I had made eye contact with one girl, but apparently she must have not seen me. I even said "hello" out loud, but nothing. A minute or two later a lady came in and was waiting behind me, and after a minute or two she asked if I had been waiting long. I told her the truth, and eventually a barista came out and asked me if I had been waiting long? I explained that I had, and had tried to catch someone's attention. I ordered an iced matcha and the lady behind me ordered some other drink. Guess who's came out first? I waited a few more minutes and noticed the another barista (a guy) had just started making an iced match, which apparently was my drink. Where were the girls? In the back, chatting away and giggling. I guess neither of them knew how to make an iced matcha.

I could describe every experience with this restaurant but I'll leave you with the previous few. And I know what you're thinking, if the food was so bad, why do you keep going back? Well, hope and optimism. Rooting for Roots! We want the local place to succeed, but we've come to the conclusion that what they really need in order to improve, is honest feedback. But part of me hopes that it changes nothing. And here's why... my wife and I love this place. But in a weird way... allow me to explain, imagine the place as a Saturday Night Live sketch where the staff, the menu and ambiance are unapologetically pretentious, but the food doesn't deliver on any level. It's pure entertainment. We have dinner and an inside joke. First of all, for the price, you naturally expect elevated dishes and excellent service. We both had a cocktail, a glass of wine with dinner, an appetizer, entrees, salad and desert. Around $250 with tip. Pricey, but reasonable if the place delivers. On one visit we had the duck, which was served undercooked and when we mentioned it to the waiter, she scoffed, "that's the way it's supposed to be served." So feeling duly chastised for our ignorance, we shut up and ate the duck. I don't know the organism involved, but my wife and I were up all night vying for access to the bathroom. Enough said. Things were dicey, but no trips to the hospital. Six months or so had passed and finally, last night we rolled the dice and tried Roots again. My wife said her dinner was fine. She had stuffed salmon, adequate, but not great. For me, It was between the steak and the pork belly. Now I had the steak before once and it was... well it was definitely a steak. I'm not going to say much about it except for this... if you like the taste of a good glass of water, order the steak. So having experienced the steak already, I ordered the pork belly, which is an extremely tasty and forgiving cut of meat in my experience. But somehow at Roots, they figured out how to prepare it poorly. Yikes! It was dry as a bone, but only in the places where it wasn't tough as shoe leather. It had to have sounded like a rock when it hit the plate. The naturally rich flavor was cooked completely out of it, and any surviving seasonings were successfully burned away during the cremation process. I was starving so I made a valiant effort at finishing it, but it took several glasses of water and an inordinate amount of chewing. My wife laughed at me the whole time. I offered her a bite but she demurred, quipping that it had been a long week and she simply didn't have the energy. It was served with a "slaw" that consisted primarily of a plain sliced onion and slices of flavorless apple devoid of seasoning or dressing. I honestly don't know how this dish made it out of the kitchen, let alone a chef's imagination. It has become a quest for my wife and me. Like the holy grail of dining experiences, only a few minutes from our home. Ever the optimists, we will just keep trying Roots again every six months or so and hope for better on each trip... or not. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, please try Roots. We want them to succeed so we can keep coming back and having these comically terrible experiences. If pretentious irony is your spirit animal, please try roots. And Roots, please keep trying. We will keep spending $250 bucks for "dinner" and a show. PS, to add to your experience, ask for a booth when you arrive for your reservation, they will look you up and down and politely say "no" as they walk you past 4 empty booths. No explanation...

Roots Seasonal Cuisine is one of my favorite spots in Lee's Summit, and my latest happy hour visit…read morereminded me exactly why. I stopped in with my girlfriend Lisa, who loves this place so much they basically have a little corner reserved for her. She likes to work from there because the Wi-Fi is good, the vibe is comfortable, and the food is consistently amazing. We sat at the bar, had a couple glasses of wine, and Austin took great care of us. Lisa had the steak special, which was the ribeye, and I had the salmon. Both were really, really great. The salmon was cooked beautifully and the whole meal was exactly why I keep coming back. One small callout: there was a $3 difference between what the salmon was listed for on the menu and what I was charged. I let Austin know so they could catch it for future guests. It did not change my overall experience, but I appreciated being able to mention it. Brandon, one of the co-owners, is amazing. He came out and spoke with us, and that personal touch is part of what makes Roots feel special. You can tell they care about the food, the service, and the people who come in. Their happy hour is amazing, and their seasonal menu changes are superb. I love coming in and trying different things. The salmon tacos are delicious, the birria fries are a must, and I always look forward to seeing what new crostini they are featuring since those change every few months. Roots is consistent without being boring. Great food, great service, great drinks, and a menu that keeps giving you a reason to come back. Can't wait to come back. See y'all next week.
