We had an absolutely phenomenal meal from this restaurant. We got quite a few things for take out and everything we tried made us say WOW! We had the arancini, cauliflower, Caesar salad, and four pizzas. I had never actually had arancini before, but always wanted to try it. I love making risotto but can never stop myself from eating enough to leave enough to make arancini. Even though I'd never had it before, I think this one would be hard to top anywhere. It had absolutely the perfect fry on the outside with nice and warm insides. The cheese was absolutely delectable, finely grated over the top. You could just tell the sauce was made with real San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. It was everything you want in a San Marzano, stronger taste and sweeter on the taste buds but also less acidic to give it a richness other tomatoes just don't have. It was a great start! I don't love cauliflower, but I loved this one! Maybe it was the spiced yogurt on there that just made the flavor superb. If it wasn't that then the bagna cauda was what did it. I can't imagine bagna cauda being an easy accompaniment to make but they nailed this one. It didn't have the overpowering taste of garlic or anchovies as this sauce can often get, but was just a subtle melody of those flavors that worked well with everything else on this plate. You watch enough TV and hear the snooty professionals talk about a fully composed and cohesive dish and we all might like to laugh at them a little, but once you have something like this it's like it just clicks in your brain what they are talking about. Every element on this plate is a pillar that just makes it a simply perfect dish that could not be improved upon. Now let me say this about the Caesar salad. It had the most authentic Caesar dressing I have had in many many years. I don't know of another place in Atlanta that has a more authentic Caesar dressing than this. You have to go to the Italian owned restaurants in other communities in the US to get this dressing again. Now, I said it this way because I want to compliment the restaurant, but my little secret is that I just prefer the imitation (think bottled) Caesar dressing personally. You can just tell when a restaurant uses an old world dressing recipe, especially with a dressing like Caesar that has anchovies because it produces a thick richness with a bit of saltiness in the dressing. It's wonderful but some weirdos like me just like the other kind. Lastly, I don't have many words to describe the perfect job they do with the pizza here. It's just a perfect Neapolitan pizza. The crispness in the dough being baked at high heat along with airy crust and lightness you can only get in high hydration doughs, and combine that with the highest quality toppings and you get a Neapolitan pizza that can't be beaten. I could go on and on about all the things I loved about this place. However, I think my brief summary gets the point across that everything here is so elevated and wonderful that you HAVE to go try it! read more

Super romantic date spot with handmade pasta! Pasta was slightly softer than my preference but overall, delicious! The short rib ragu had super tender meat chunks and slightly sweet but rich tomato sauce. Appetizers: We also got the garlic knot and meatball appetizers. However, both came in a single portion. It was not a convenient appetizer to share amongst more than 2 people since the single garlic knot had to be cut into bite pieces. Really enjoyed our meal at Double Zero. We came in for an early dinner the day after Thanksgiving and there were only a few other diners besides us, and no reservation needed. The server was very attentive without being annoying. We got the garlic knot which is huge and shareable, the margherita pizza, and the orechiette pasta with sausage. I thought all the food was good, a little disappointed there weren't more pasta options like carbonara. The pizza had a lot of sauce which isn't my personal favorite but the dough and the ingredients were all very fresh and well prepared. The pizza was served whole/uncut and we were given a scissors to divvy it up, which I found kind of strange. I forgot the name of the butterscotch dessert we had, but it was also really good. SOLID ITALIAN RESTAURANT NEAR EMORY!! ive seen a ton of stuff about double zero and finally tried it out. to start, i got the caesar salad and garlic knots. the caesar salad was really good and I'm not a huge salad person! the garlic knots were insane, however a little too fried/greasy for me, but that's my opinion. they were cheesy and had a big lob of butter. for mains, i tried out the Margherita pizza and short rib ragu. the pizza was good - nothing too special, but still good! the short rib ragu was a little too sweet for me, so i added some crushed red pepper to balance it out. the vibe of the restaurant is really nice and not too formal. the service was great and the waitress was very helpful when giving recommendations. *parking wasn't too bad, i found street parking and i came on a Tuesday around 7pm. read more

Tried this place with a group last night and was super impressed. First off, the garlic knot was a ridiculously tasty indulgence (fried, but oh so worth the calories!). The stagione (?) salad was bursting with flavor and texture. Loved that. The Caesar salad was fine, more standard. The OG DZ pizza was super tasty and well balanced. The ambience of the restaurant was great. Low dimmed lights with a modern Look. I had the market fish ( Spanish Mackerel) and the OG D Z pizza . The Spanish Mackerel was cooked well , no fishy taste to it and it was well balanced however I thought the sunflower seeds on top were a bit over kill and made the fish too Salty so I scraped them off. Came in yesterday with a friend for dinner. It was a Thursday and I made a reservation for 6pm. Wanted to come in because they had a deal this week for national pizza week for $10 pizzas! Can't pass that up. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. He quickly took our drink orders. I got the Dewdropper cocktail (gin, grapefruit, mint, lime). It was delicious! For our pizzas, they were only offering 4 basic ones - cheese, pepperoni, sausage and Bianca. I got the sausage. My friend got the Bianca. They came out in a reasonable amount of time. We've visited Double Zero several times now, and it's become a go-to destination when I'm craving exceptional pizza and/or pasta :-) The venue is great for either dining-in or take-out; the ambiance is intimate and cheerful, and the service has always been friendly and fast. Don't know how I didn't know this place existed! Located near Emory, Double Zero really takes pride in its food and drinks. I stopped by with coworkers and we hung out in the bar area which was pretty large and good for a group. They also have a large dining section as well. We enjoyed Prosecco, Sangiovese, focaccia, and chicken meatballs. No idea what was in the meatballs but they were the best I've had anywhere in Atlanta - and filling! I've never had bad food here. The menu descriptions had me pausing but I decided to just go for it and order some things to share and WOW. I underestimated them. The dishes and drinks were top notch. Curated to perfection. Everything was great but the best thing I had was the Heirloom Tomato appetizer. What a huge and flavorful starter, it really cleansed my palate. The tomatoes are huge and sweet and the cheese is not too salty which happens a lot. I added Prosciutto for $4 and you MUST get it as well. I had the new Blue Crab Risotto they added to rotation and it was herbaceous, cheesy, and fresh. So great and filling. But I would not sleep on the Beef Pappardelle. The meat was so flavorful and tender and the pasta was fresh and light. I learned about some classic Italian spritzes and had some great drinks recommended to me by the manager Maddie. This was our 4th visit to Double Zero. They never disappoint! We drive almost 30 miles from north of town just to come here. They are always changing up the menu. Tonight we had the pork belly fritter appetizer with pear jam and pecorino cheese. Wow. I have always loved their varieties of Burrata toast appetizers, but it was not on the menu so we tried something different. May be the best thing I have eaten since Bottega in Napa. Then I had the Chicken Piccata. The pasta was perfection. I don't particularly love broccolini, but that and the squash were insane. So good. My hubbie had his fav, bolognese. Yum. We came here on a Saturday night and had made a reservation the same day. None was needed though as it was not that crowded at 6pm. We were able to nab a parking spot out front on the street, but it is busy and the restaurant shares the building with other businesses. Note the parking is free and the 1-hour restriction ends at 6pm. The interior is nice, with exposed brick and high ceilings. The tables were well spaced. We started off with the archini balls, which were great. You get two large balls, and they had a little lemon zest inside, which was unique and added to the dish. For my entree, I had the Bolognese. The pork was great and it was not too saucy, but rather dry, in a good way. It also had a nice crunch to it, which I enjoyed. The pasta tasted fresh as well. The kids enjoyed their dishes, with the pizza crust being nice and fluffy from their high temperature ovens. The service was a little slow given how empty the place was, but not a big deal. read more

I was in the mood for good pizza and scenery. After multiple reviews, I opted for Double Zero. This was a great idea. First things first, their hours of operation are different on Yelp and Google. They open at 5 on Saturdays. Since I wanted to get a head start, I called ahead of time and made a 5:00 PM reservation. Upon arrival, the ambiance and customer service was great. This location is still adhering to safety measures by all of their staff. Since I got there so early, there weren't too many people inside. I was seated at a high top table facing the bar and opening of the restaurant. It was a great view. They do have outdoor seating options as well. I was greeted immediately upon being seated. My server was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable about menu items and recommended some great drink options. I was torn between their pasta options or pizza. I went with the pizza. I ordered a Caesar salad that was delicious. My food came out quickly and it was awesome. The coolest thing was that they give you scissors to cut your pizza. I've tried Double Zero twice now, once to try just their pizzas and again to try just their pastas. Both were ordered via UberEats delivery during COVID times. I'm not sure I would recommend their pizzas (it's fine, but there are just better Neapolitan pizzas in the area I'd rather order from), but I would highly recommend their pastas. [FOOD] Pasta Bolognese -- $18.00 Did you know that finding bolognese in atlanta is actually harder than you think? I thought it would be on every Italian, American-Italian menu, but apparently it's not. Double Zero does their bolognese right. The pasta used on the night we ordered was bucatini, and it providing the perfect vehicle for the hearty, flavorful bolognese sauce. It was the right about of acidity, savory, and texture (pasta was just under al dente as a delivered item). Pasta Pomodoro -- $16.00 When you're in the mood for a tangy, tomato-ey red sauce pasta, double zero's pasta pomodoro will not fail you. If you like your pomodoro sauce acidic (like traditional pomodoro should be!), you'll love their version. There was parmagiano reggiano sprinkled on top, but I added more of my own at home because I felt like it could do with a touch more cheese. Garlic knot -- $6.00 You know those soft, buttery, garlicky warm rolls at italian-American restaurants? And I don't mean Olive Garden. Double zero's isn't like that. They've created their own mini loaf version with a harder/chewier exterior and a soft, warm middle. As a delivery item, the garlic butter comes on the side and you can pour it on the loaf or use as a dip. It's unique, and i plan on ordering it again. DZ meatballs -- $9.00 There's only 3 medium size meatballs that come with this dish, so it feels a bit overpriced. There is a lot of polenta that accompanies the meatballs.. and I kinda felt like the polenta stole the show. I love garlic, and the polenta will punch you in the face with creamy garlic. [SERVICE/PRICE] This was a delivery order, and everything arrived warm and neatly packed. The prices I paid may only reflect what UberEats charges, and may be different when ordered directly from Double Zero. The portion sizes for these delivery items were just right (except maybe the $9 meatball app.. it was mostly polenta). Don't expect Maggiano's portions.. double zero isn't a chain restaurant and their focus on quality and flavor shows. [OVERALL] I will order from Double Zero again for their non-pizza items. All menu items we've tried (including the pizzas) have been high quality with Italian classics that are impressively on point. read more

This business doesn't want to be bothered with women. The guys at the front desk treated me like poop on their shoes when I stopped by to get a look at the place and asked about a reservation. When I returned later with my male friend they perked right up and fell all over themselves. When I dined there alone recently because someone said they thought the management had changed, I spent the evening trying to flag down a server--it was like I was invisible. They served me someone else's order but I was hungry so I ate some of it. It was a floppy-crusted pizza, lounging under an ample coverlet of tepid olive oil with a few skimpy toppings arranged with a minimalist's aesthetic. If, for example, the pizza were a globe map, the two mushrooms were Buenos Aires and Santiago, the three onions were Toronto, Madrid, and Moscow. Between these were vast sweeps of nothing. I can't imagine who would order that but, let me assure you, you've missed nothing. The cocktails are excellent, but you'd need to drink quite a few to blunt the heavy feeling that comes with the bill. I shouldn't have to be escorted by a man to merit good service. It troubles me that a woman alone is treated like a strega by a restaurant devoted to Italian food; the Italians have never treated a woman dining alone like this. Truly disappointing. read more

I will be back not because of the refund (I received my food the first time so rightfully they should be paid even though the experience was a bit frustrating) but because I can see they care about their business and want nothing but the best for their customers. read more

The pasta and pizza crusts are good. All the stuff they put on it is mediocre. At a place that basically just serves pizza and pasta, the pizza should be flawless and this margherita pizza frankly looks like crap. Their tomato sauce isn't very flavorful either. read more

Had a great meal and decent service! I had the chicken piccata which was excellent and my guest said the chicken parm was also excellent. We had the garlic knot which I thought was only okay even though I am a garlic lover. Also had the mozzarella al forno. It was almost a make your own pizza, personally wouldn't order it again but the food itself was good. Saw another table with the arancini which looked delicious! Went on a Friday night at 5:30 and the restaurant was pretty quiet, so I can't comment on atmosphere that much but the decor is cute. read more

May 2023 - We love Double Zero and all the CHG restaurants. The DZ team is always very friendly, accommodating when needed, and delivers amazing dishes. We really enjoy the seasonal changes as well. DZ is a favorite so much for us that we booked our rehearsal dinner here for later this year. Dec 2023 Update - We still love DZ and probably love it even more. If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would!!! In September 2023 my wife and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner here for 55 people. We really can't say enough amazing things about Dustin, Daniel, and the rest of the DZ & CHG team and how amazing people they all are. Our struggle in finding a place was that everywhere we looked in the city was either to small to host 55 people or required us to reserve the entire restaurant and pay big bucks to do so. DZ was great because it we could book half the space with just a F&B minimum, plus it was a great location and not your typical chain. It was a true Atlanta gem & experience for our guests during their travels. We went the route of a buffet style dinner which was great to create a casual and socializing friendly vibe, and the DZ team was extremely accommodating for those with special dietary needs. We were also able to work out a cash bar with our guests that felt very well executed and not a hassle on anyone. DZ should def be at the top of your list for any date nights, traveling friends in need of a great meal, special event meal, holiday/office parties, and everything else! My experience was decent, nothing to rant and rave about. Menu was completely different from what I seen online, and the pictures on Yelp. Not surprised, as so many changes to menus have been impacted due to COVID-19 to so many restaurants so I understand. The lasagna I had was so salty, it was good though. Like the cheese was melted to perfection, & the sauce was amazing. my only feedback would be to cut back on the salt. You can always add salt if needed, but too much of it can ruin a great dish. I've been to other Castellucci restaurants in Atlanta, and I went to the Double Zero Napoletana pretty frequently when it was in Sandy Springs. They had a quiet bocce ball court in the back that will be missed. Parking is valet or street. There is a lot behind the old pizza joint on the corner that also has free parking for select Emory Village restaurant patrons only which worked out for me. The street parking in front of the restaurant is also free after a certain hour (check the signage). The bar area is a great place to wait for the rest of your party or to just chill without the pressure of ordering a full meal (or any food at all, for that matter). The bartenders are friendly and approachable. We ordered quite a few cocktails, with the frontrunners being the Dewdropper and the mocktails (that we added liquor to, lol), like the Little Red Corvette. Also, if it's a special occasion, make it known and you might just get some free limoncello shots! Food-wise, I've always enjoyed their pizzas. From the basic Margherita to the flavorful Meatball (chicken sausage) and Funghi or my personal favorite, the Diovola, which has a great kick to it. The pizzas are very thin and can be cut with a pair of scissors, which is provided to the table. However, I tried a pasta dish recently and found it to be better than their pizzas! They make their pasta fresh and in-house and you can tell in every bite. I ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese, which had a nice meaty red sauce and a surprisingly tasty crunch to it thanks to the bread crumbs. Overall, Double Zero is a great place to grab a drink... and if you're needing some food in your system after those drinks, the food isn't too shabby, either! read more

Service, ambiance, and food was delightful. We enjoyed our first visit here and will be back to try the other pizzas we found tasty sounding from the menu. Hubby had lasagna and he appreciated the portion size. He took at least half home and is excited to have it for lunch tomorrow. I had a Caesar salad and the OJ DZ. The salad was interesting, not what I was expecting...the dressing was light and the lettuce tasted like it was dressed/tossed in lime juice. Not bad, just surprising. The pizza was tasty but I would have liked to have had 1 or 2 more slices of prosciutto. There was not enough for it to be spread on each slice even with cutting what was there in half and redistributing. All in all it was a great dinner with super friendly service. read more

WOW. I'm speechless. All I can say is I now have a go to pizza joint in Atlanta! I got it delivered and the first thing I noticed was that the toppings came in a separate box, which I thought was smart because it keeps them from getting soggy. Per recommendation of another yelpers review, I threw it in the oven for 10 minutes on 400F to reheat. Perfect if you like it a little crispy! I got the OG DZ pizza which has prosciutto and arugula. It sounds simple, but something about the mix of cheeses, oil, the toppings and the crust is just perfect. But I think what really makes this pizza stand out is the crust- it's the best crust I've had in awhile. Not too crispy or burnt, not too soggy or doughy, just perfect. Our food choices were great. The Garlic Knot is sinfully delicious. It's large enough for 3 to share, but it's tempting to get one of your own. The DZ Meatball was another delicious appetizer. So flavorful! Our entrees were the Chicken Scarpariello and Beef Rigate. Can't say enough good things about them. Good portions, too. Went there with husband and 9 year old and the best food of the night was my 9 year olds Alfredo pasta from the kids menu (although the portion was small for $9) and he was still hungry. My husband and I however ordered from the regular menu (as adults do) and were disappointed. Everything we had was under seasoned and just a little boring. The Dijon flavor on the cauliflower was overwhelming and unbalanced. I make a similar recipe from The NY Times that is way better. If it's a common recipe you need to at least make it well and add a spin to it. I couldn't finish it. The meatballs were ok. The Caesar salad was ok. The croutons weren't fully cooked- just soggy cubed bread. All was just unremarkable. The waitress was low energy, didn't ask if we wanted drinks or desserts and didn't clear the table at all.
