Blueberry Pancake Meal
Jenna C.

The food is good. I ordered via Uber Eats and it just arrived. However, there is NO SYRUP!!! In my opinion, the worst thing a restaurant can do is not be considerate with their delivery orders. How can you sell pancakes and not send any syrup????? It's so irritating!!! And the pancakes are thick and need syrup. It ruins the entire meal. So maybe go in to eat, don't trust delivery!!! I thought about typing a message bc I thought this may happen, but they don't allow notes on their Uber Eats orders.

My cousin and I went here for a quick brunch. Waitress came over to I struct us to us the QR code to place our food and drink orders. Everything thing came out quickly and was delicious. The dining area is intimate and comfy with the warmers to keep you nice and toasty.

Side of Cajun shrimp and grits

The food was great. The Jam Rock omelette was really well put together and I ordered a side of Cajun shrimp and grits, which were fantastic. The menu is a digital QR code and the staff is very friendly.

10/10 every time. We ordered on our phone and everything came out quick. It's a joke in the wall type of place but cozy. This was my second time visiting. My friend and I shared all of our food. We had bacon, eggs, blueberry pancakes, brisket, & shrimp and grits. My niece devoured her kids meal pancakes. I don't remember them having drinks last time so, naturally, we got a few rum punches. Had us feeling like we were on an island. I can't wait to bring my other family members.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and it turned out to be everything I imagined. My wife and I finally got to visit Huskey's for a weekend brunch. They only had outside covered/patio seating, but they have fans for hot days and heaters for colder weather. The weather was beautiful and the music was great. It really reminded us of the amazing experiences we shared in Jamaica. I had the jerk chicken omelette and the pancakes with fresh fruit and pecans(that were too good to make the picture). My wife had the hamburger and loved it. The omelette was amazing and one of the most unique ones I've ever had. The jerk sauce was the perfect amount of sweet/spicy and the potatoes were crispy despite looking a bit oily. The servers were kind and it was nice to prepay on your phone and be able to leave whenever you like. We will be back for sure!!

This place was so good. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was great. Everything was made hot and fresh to order. Everything was flavorful and tasty. The ambiance was real chill. I really enjoyed the croissant beignets. They just melt in your mouth! We'll definitely be back

Found this restaurant when I was searching Black owned restaurants in the area. We didn't know what to expect because we didn't see many recent pictures online. This is parking on both sides of the building. One side has more spots than the other. There are seats outside that are covered and then seats inside. You seat yourself and scan the QR code on your table to place your order. You tip when you place your order and there isn't a way to update your tip after your meal or after you place your order. The server brings out your drinks then your food once it's ready. I ordered a pineapple ginger juice and it came without any ices. By the time I got my food it was room temperature. I enjoyed the juice, but it would have been better with ice. The server was attentive and helpful. I ordered a banana pancake and a grits bowl with grits, eggs, bacon, and cheese. Everything I ordered was flavorful and it came out piping hot. The wait was right at 10 minutes from the time my order was placed to the food being placed on the table. We enjoyed our fast service and good food. The seating area was well-organized and clean. There was a lot of space and a lot of seating.

Food was great seating area was on a patio but felt good, went early hours. Service was good didn't take long to get drinks or food. Would definitely recommend this hidden Gem!

Best Pancakes I've ever had! Competency was an issue though. My daughter and I were greeted outside and it wasn't busy at the time which was great. I ordered orange juice and water. Received water and soda. They eventually brought orange juice. We had three glasses on the table for two people. I ordered her a plain pancake and me a pancake with fruit. I wanted turkey bacon also. My daughter received a pancake with a bunch of fruit on there that she did not eat. And I received ham or Canadian bacon. Again, the food was delicious, but we just got things that we didn't ask for.

It was good. Just wished they would Have put the pumpkin spice butter on it.

Food was good. Service I really didn't like. It was more like self service. Ambiance very nice and warm!

Harlem-Style Chicken and Waffles

I saw the reviews, liked the pictures and decided to come try this place out. It's more of a "self service" type restaurant where you order the food AND pay, with tip before getting your meal but the staff that brought the food and explained their process was very nice. The restaurant itself was quaint. It wasn't packed which is preferred for me but I definitely think folks should check it out. I had the Harlem chicken and waffles with a side of shrimp and grits and my boyfriend had a pancake breakfast with eggs and bacon. As I said, I highly recommend. I accompanied my food with a hot chocolate which was also good. They do their own twist of chicken and waffles, putting their chicken on a skewer and dipping it in waffle batter. Now as for the shrimp and grits, I'm not a huge grits person unless done right, and these were definitely done right. It was a side but enough for a taste. I let my bf try and he almost ate off all my grits. Looking forward to going back and trying something else!

Upon arriving earlier today, my family and I were actually really impressed by what we saw: the restaurant was not only small but it was an outdoor exclusive type of restaurant and upon sitting down, we learned it had fully embraced the usage of the QR code to create your meal and pay for it in one sitting instead of typical restaurants. I loved the aura of the restaurant, small not too noisy not too hot, just perfectly balanced. The service was quick and efficient, easy to understand, and the food was so different and unique but it is also "old fashioned" for people who want to remain to their taste buds. Some place I would definitely recommend and will definitely be visiting again, maybe with my former friend or just something to do in my past time.

Shrimp and Grits Side

I've passed this place numerous times, but a TikTok video is what convinced me to finally visit. They're located on 2nd Ave in Decatur. I went on a Wednesday around 12 and they weren't busy at all. After reading the reviews, it appears that they're busy on the weekends. The restaurant itself is no frills and quaint. The instructions posted were to seat yourself, scan a barcode for the menu, then place your order and pay at the counter. I ordered the croissant beignets and a side portion of the shrimp and grits. While the shrimp and grits was good, it wasn't spectacular. The grits were especially creamy and the cream sauce was decent. I think some green onions would've added a nice touch. The beignets on the other hand were amazing. I literally couldn't stop eating them. They're light, fluffy and are drizzled with a sweet sauce and powdered sugar. Service was fine and parking was free and plentiful.

Heard about them from coworkers and decided to go check them out for myself. Despite being named "Wings n Grill" they have soooooo much more to offer. My usual order is the 6pc and fish combo. Comes with 6 wings, fries, 2pc catfish (NICE SIZED!!) and a drink. The catfish is truly CHEF'S KISS!! Cooked to perfection The wings are also a missile! My favorite flavor combo is the Hot Honey Lemon Pepper. I've also tried Ranch (fried regular, then tossed in dry rub) and Honey Garlic+Teriyaki, all delicious but the HHLP are number one for me. The options are endless. Even the fries are always fried just right, golden brown and crispy. The only negative about the place is their mix of lemonade, fruit and peach punches. To me, they're weak and all taste like sugar water. Always find myself having to ad something to it, or opting to just get a fountain drink. S/O to the the guy taking the orders (the white guy that's always there). He's great and keeps things running smooth in there. If you're ever nearby in the area and you hungry, stop in there and treat yourself to something BIGBACK and deliciouss!

The reason I mentioned the waiting period is because I only had about 30mins before I had to return to work. The guy who worked there was super nice though. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was relaxed, welcoming, and unpretentious--exactly what you want when you're looking to settle in and enjoy yourself. A huge part of that experience was our waitress, Carsen. She was incredibly personable, warm, and genuinely friendly without ever feeling forced. Her service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed. She made us feel completely at home, like we were being hosted by a friend rather than waited on at a restaurant. Honestly, her energy was contagious. We ended up ordering a third round of drinks purely because she was so darn friendly and fun to talk with. The Universal Joint nails that balance of great service and laid-back comfort, which is harder to find than it should be. Between the welcoming atmosphere and Carsen's standout service, it's easy to say this won't be our last visit. We'll definitely be back--and hopefully sitting in her section again.

One bite in, and I noticed a bug in the toppings, immediately I was disgusted, wondering if I had already consumed one..... it happens so I took pics and called the restaurant. Sent the manager pics and he took accountability and text me back offering me a refund and a $40 credit for my next visit . Fast fwd.... 2 weeks we were in the area and decided let's give it another try and cash in our credit and have drinks as well. Our experience that I shared with the manager I was initially in contact with is below. I'm posting because of the lack of acknowledgement and the bar tender was extremely nasty for absolutely no reason. Hi Sawyer, I wanted to let you know about our experience today. We stopped by the restaurant to use the gift card and enjoy a few drinks, but unfortunately things went wrong right away. When we walked in, no one greeted us or acknowledged us--we genuinely couldn't tell who worked there. We eventually sat ourselves, and when Jen came over, I let her know we were there to use a gift card you had left. From that point on, her demeanor noticeably changed. She was short, dismissive, and her body language made it clear we were an inconvenience. I provided both my name and my husband's name to help locate the gift card, but her response--or lack of one--made us feel unwelcome, and we decided it was best to leave. I appreciate you offering the opportunity for a good experience at UJ. The previous to-go order didn't impact my overall impression, but today's interaction with Jen unfortunately did. No need to worry about the gift card.
