I'm going into withdrawal writing this review. Huskey's isn't cheap ($13 - $21) but it's real food and worth it! The husband and wife team catered before launching in 2020. Open Wednesday - Sunday. We welcomed the calm, family-friendly vibe and free parking. Even with the rain, we were dry and toasty. Other than breathing fresh air, you wouldn't know you're outside. Seat yourself and scan a QR code with your phone to order and prepay. Being old school I think you get better tips by greeting the table and giving recommendations. But there was only one server, she was friendly and hustling. I love the grown up music - neo soul and pop (Selena, Ed Sheeran), with enough volume to hear each other, clean restrooms and comfy seating. Food came out quick, hot and fresh. The amiable owner greeted us after to inquire about our meals. We had a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teens, 1 kid). I loved my pancake breakfast! The filling, not too sweet hot cakes were promptly drenched in warmed Mrs. Butterworths. Applewood smoked bacon? Blissful. Scrambled eggs with cheese? Dreamy. I devoured it all and left full and content. My Dad said the Blueberry Pancakes were the best breakfast he ever had! Ms. Chicken and Waffles thought the poultry was a bit salty yet "well-seasoned with the perfect crunch." Waffle? Delicious. On a scale of 1-5, Mr. Cream Cheese French Toast and Grits Bowl ranked it 10! "Grits were magical, better than Milk and Honey." Teen's Simple Breakfast (potatoes, eggs and bacon) and French Toast "blew IHOP out of the water!" Preteen ranked his Simple Breakfast and side of French Toast "5 quintillion!" The bacon was a bit tough but the bread blew him away! Kiddo - ranked her kids breakfast (large fruit-topped pancake with eggs and bacon) 6 out of 5! Would we return and recommend? A resounding yes! We walked into Huskey's Kitchen hungry and confident. We left full, impressed, and in a friendly argument about salt. First off, ordering and paying by QR code was smooth. No waiting around. No waving for a server. Just scan, order, and mind your business until the food comes out. Now let's talk about the order because yes, we showed out. Lobster and Shrimp Omelet. Breakfast Sampler. Buttermilk Pancakes. Creamy Parmesan Grits. Coffee. Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Bites. If you're wondering if it was too much food, the answer is absolutely not. The food was good. Like pause mid bite and nod your head good. Everything tasted fresh and cooked to order, which explains why it took a little while to hit the table. Worth the wait. However, somebody back there is not afraid of seasoning. At all. Bold. Confident. Heavy handed. The kind of salt level that makes you sip your coffee and look at your partner like are you tasting this too. Did it stop us from eating. No. Did we still clean our plates. Also no question. And then there were the cinnamon sugar croissant bites. Sweet. Soft. Dangerous. These caused the most tension at the table. One of us said we were full. The other immediately reached for the last bite. Overall, Huskey's Kitchen is a solid brunch spot with big flavors and fresh food. We would absolutely come back. Next visit we're requesting light salt and ordering those croissant bites again because some lessons are learned and some are ignored. She eats. He eats. The food is good. I ordered via Uber Eats and it just arrived. However, there is NO SYRUP!!! In my opinion, the worst thing a restaurant can do is not be considerate with their delivery orders. How can you sell pancakes and not send any syrup????? It's so irritating!!! And the pancakes are thick and need syrup. It ruins the entire meal. So maybe go in to eat, don't trust delivery!!! I thought about typing a message bc I thought this may happen, but they don't allow notes on their Uber Eats orders. read more

MAN! When I saw the food was delish, that's an understatement. The establishment is CLEAN including the restroom y'all. Although it's on a patio, they have heaters and air condition for your comfort. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and it turned out to be everything I imagined. My wife and I finally got to visit Huskey's for a weekend brunch. They only had outside covered/patio seating, but they have fans for hot days and heaters for colder weather. The weather was beautiful and the music was great. It really reminded us of the amazing experiences we shared in Jamaica. I had the jerk chicken omelette and the pancakes with fresh fruit and pecans(that were too good to make the picture). My wife had the hamburger and loved it. The omelette was amazing and one of the most unique ones I've ever had. The jerk sauce was the perfect amount of sweet/spicy and the potatoes were crispy despite looking a bit oily. The servers were kind and it was nice to prepay on your phone and be able to leave whenever you like. We will be back for sure!! read more

Found this restaurant when I was searching Black owned restaurants in the area. We didn't know what to expect because we didn't see many recent pictures online. This is parking on both sides of the building. One side has more spots than the other. There are seats outside that are covered and then seats inside. You seat yourself and scan the QR code on your table to place your order. You tip when you place your order and there isn't a way to update your tip after your meal or after you place your order. The server brings out your drinks then your food once it's ready. I ordered a pineapple ginger juice and it came without any ices. By the time I got my food it was room temperature. I enjoyed the juice, but it would have been better with ice. The server was attentive and helpful. I ordered a banana pancake and a grits bowl with grits, eggs, bacon, and cheese. Everything I ordered was flavorful and it came out piping hot. The wait was right at 10 minutes from the time my order was placed to the food being placed on the table. Best Pancakes I've ever had! Competency was an issue though. My daughter and I were greeted outside and it wasn't busy at the time which was great. I ordered orange juice and water. Received water and soda. They eventually brought orange juice. We had three glasses on the table for two people. I ordered her a plain pancake and me a pancake with fruit. I wanted turkey bacon also. My daughter received a pancake with a bunch of fruit on there that she did not eat. And I received ham or Canadian bacon. I saw the reviews, liked the pictures and decided to come try this place out. It's more of a "self service" type restaurant where you order the food AND pay, with tip before getting your meal but the staff that brought the food and explained their process was very nice. The restaurant itself was quaint. It wasn't packed which is preferred for me but I definitely think folks should check it out. I had the Harlem chicken and waffles with a side of shrimp and grits and my boyfriend had a pancake breakfast with eggs and bacon. As I said, I highly recommend. I accompanied my food with a hot chocolate which was also good. They do their own twist of chicken and waffles, putting their chicken on a skewer and dipping it in waffle batter. Now as for the shrimp and grits, I'm not a huge grits person unless done right, and these were definitely done right. It was a side but enough for a taste. Upon arriving earlier today, my family and I were actually really impressed by what we saw: the restaurant was not only small but it was an outdoor exclusive type of restaurant and upon sitting down, we learned it had fully embraced the usage of the QR code to create your meal and pay for it in one sitting instead of typical restaurants. I loved the aura of the restaurant, small not too noisy not too hot, just perfectly balanced. The service was quick and efficient, easy to understand, and the food was so different and unique but it is also "old fashioned" for people who want to remain to their taste buds. We had the option to dine outside but it was a bit windy for our liking. The food may take a little longer as it is truly fresh. I have seen the popular pancakes and they all looked different. After reading the reviews, it appears that they're busy on the weekends. The restaurant itself is no frills and quaint. The instructions posted were to seat yourself, scan a barcode for the menu, then place your order and pay at the counter. I ordered the croissant beignets and a side portion of the shrimp and grits. While the shrimp and grits was good, it wasn't spectacular. The grits were especially creamy and the cream sauce was decent. I think some green onions would've added a nice touch. The beignets on the other hand were amazing. I literally couldn't stop eating them. They're light, fluffy and are drizzled with a sweet sauce and powdered sugar. When we walked in we were kindly greeted and seated by staff. We looked through a menu before we ordered our food at the register. When the food was ready they brought it to us. We ordered a croissant egg sandwich with potatoes, the buttermilk pancake meal and a side of shrimp and grits. The croissant egg sandwich meal was our favorite. The shrimp and grits were also really good; there is sausage in them too. The pancakes were a little too thick for our liking, but great portions. The service was slow and although there almost no one there when we arrived they made us wait for seating as if they couldn't find anywhere to seat us. So, so glad we finally made it to Huskey's, which has been on our list for a while. This is solid, southern-style brunch that tastes homemade and is well worth the price point. Our server was delightful, kind, and made our experience a breeze. You order everything on your phone and pay ahead of time, which we personally love. Food comes out quick, hot, and tasting as good as it looks. Our server mentioned that she's yet to have anyone complain about the Cajun-style Shrimp and Grits and I 1000% believe her. As someone from the Outer Banks, shrimp and grits is a dish I love but am very picky about. THIS is how it should taste every time, and you get a ton of it! I love a place that isn't stingy on the shrimp, and I easily could have turned my meal into two servings. My bf got the chicken and waffles and loved it. Devoured the entire thing! From the outside, the restaurant looks very humble and is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. But inside, it's cozy, warm, and creates a very comfortable atmosphere. Once we ordered our food, we waited another 40+ minutes for our food to come out. That did not make for a fun experience. Don't go if you're in a hurry! Now, I remember why I haven't been back to this restaurant in a long time. It took 50 minutes to get breakfast. Needless to say it seemed like an eternity in this heat on their patio. They might want to turn the ceiling fan up. I had the chicken and waffles. My friend had an egg white omelette with potatoes. This is the second restaurant I've been to that appears to have gotten rid of most of the servers. I understand corporate greed makes it difficult to hire human beings. However, if I'm gonna scan a QR code, order my food, pay and tip before the food is cooked. The food should come in a reasonable time and be good. Unfortunately, neither of those were the case. The chicken wings were ridiculously greasy and I could only eat one. I chose not to get powdered sugar on my waffles, but looked forward to the fruit and whipped cream. The few blueberries and strawberries were OK, but there was only a teaspoon of whipped cream found under a hot chicken wing. Needless to say the whipped cream was partially melted. Instructions were to seat yourself but since we were only a party of 2, we were told to move to a smaller table. Service did not include a server, we had to use phones to access and place orders via the ap. It took us more than 10 minutes to get it to work and place our orders. Don't know if it was the WiFi or user error but that was a pain! The ap also requires you to pay for your food when you submitted your order. Now the food! After the hassle of placing the order via the app the food made it worth while. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles and I ordered the blueberry pancake meal. It was simply delicious. My husband did not expect to see the chicken and waffles served as it did but he said they were quite good. He have huge kudos to the creamy Parmesan grits. I don't recommend this place. Went here for breakfast/brunch with a friend, the food quality was poor, the prices were way too high, and they definitely skimmed on ingredients and portion size. Not nearly worth the prices they charge. For instance I'm pretty sure the beef sausage was something store-bought like Johnsonville. The omelette was dry and lacking ingredients that were extra and paid for. The waitress did not check on us at all and I got zero refills on my drink which I needed because food was spicy. I am so hyped that I found this spot because OMG I was really in for a major surprise! A Jamaican Style Breakfast feast. There were a few great items I saw on the menu but what really stuck out at me was their Jerk Chicken Omelet. I've never had a jerk chicken omelet before and man oh man I was licking my lips in anticipation for it. I'm glad I came on an empty stomach for what was in store for me. It was everything I had expected and more. First off the Jerk Chicken Omelette was fantastic. The chicken fused into the egg packed in was flavorful and plenty and the ingredients that were all chopped in made it pop. And then the Banana Pancakes, you could tell he made them from scratch and it was absolutely fresh. The eggs were scrambled to perfection. I like scrambled soft with added cheese and he got it all on point. I had a chance to meet the chef, he's really cool. He comes out and talks to everyone to make sure they enjoyed the food. He told me his business started as catering and then he eventually transitioned to a sit down restaurant.
