They weren't busy at that time so we would have been okay without a reservation. We sat out front at the picnic style table. I ordered a Bellini and the berry French toast. I've been to Scout multiple times but never reviewed it. I just went back last night for my birthday, so it's time. Obviously, I like this place a lot, as I chose it as a spot to take my friends for my birthday. Scout always makes me feel happy and I enjoy my time here. I love the variety in entrees, appetizers, and sides. Plus, it has one of my favorite mac & cheese sides. I got there, autumn old-fashioned as my beverage. It was very balanced and delicious. We got the yummy deviled eggs and our appetizer. I like to cut it up so I get four bites. I couldn't decide between the salmon and the trout, so luckily, my friend had the same issue as I did. Visited Scout on a rainy Saturday and was able to get a table very quickly. The servers were up beat and seemed to enjoy working there. My server specifically was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great recommendations. Started off with a simple mimosa and order the Crispy Brussels as a starter. The portion is huge and perfect for sharing. For the most part this was a great choice but there was a bitter char to the dish which might be off putting for some. I ordered a side of biscuits which were delicious. Nice and fluffy, paired with sweet jelly. As my main I tried the Phoenix. The fried chicken was crispy and seasoned well which went nicely with the cheddar waffle. Lastly I tried the egg white omelette. This omelette was huge and so worth it! I've had this place on my list for a little while and finally had a chance to come here for their lunch service with a couple of girlfriends and we had an absolute blast! I made reservations on OpenTable and when we arrived, we lucked up and found parking in front of the restaurant and the young lady welcomed us in and promptly took us our seat. Each staff member we encountered was super kind and made sure we had what we needed but our server Carter was top notch. Friendly. Kind. Attentive. He truly made an afternoon out even better. We ordered pretzel bites and crispy Brussels for the table and they were absolutely delicious but please note that there is bacon in the Brussels if that's something that is not part of your diet. For my entree, I couldn't resist the chicken caesar wrap. It was full of grilled chicken that was seasoned well, romaine lettuce, caesar dressing and it was just a very filling meal. We recently tried Scout for brunch with some friends and had a fantastic time. I made a reservation for 4 people at 12 p.m. on a Sunday. There were plenty of reservation spots open online, and when we showed up, the restaurant was starting a wait list for walk-ins. We were seated promptly and brought water, and had drink orders taken. Their hot tea selection was abundant, and they brought milk and honey upon request and gave free hot water refills. We ordered deviled eggs to start the table, and boy, we wish we had ordered two of them! Each of us had one, and the bacon on top was crispy and packed a nice smoky crunch. I ordered the salmon, lox, and bagel meal. The eggs were enormous and fluffy, and the dill cream cheese spread was excellent! It was the perfect combination of savory and sweet. My husband and I split a side of chicken sausage, and I liked that the eggs were split along the sausage so they were easier to cut. The restaurant is beautiful inside, and the high ceilings and large windows bring plenty of light into the space. I loved looking out onto the large dining room and seeing the orders pass by. The deviled eggs appetizer were a VERY hard consistency and we did not finish the plate of four. I was excited to order the Caesar with homemade dressing, grana padano, and anchovies. Flavorless anchovies were draped on top of the over-dressed lettuce, which is a clear indication the restaurant did not prepare the dressing from scratch. Also, the grana padano certainly wasn't freshly shaved. Of the other brunch appropriate orders, none were shared or raved about. Very average plates at high prices. Three of our drinks went unfinished. The little Bimini specifically tasted just like rum with water. Service here felt untrained and inattentive. We had to ask for water refills. stumbled across this place as I was looking for a restaurant to eat with my friends after a workout! I am so glad I came across this restaurant because it's in a residential area. Therefore it's not the type of restaurant you've passed by on a daily basis. For starters great customer service and a very clean restaurant. I liked the set up of there being a half open/visible so depending on where you sit, you're almost able to see the chefs prepare your meals! There are so many great options for food. I didn't know where to start. Ultimately I ended up getting the egg white chicken sausage omelette and when I tell you caramelized onions and an omelette is going to be my new favorite fixation! The food was very fresh and you can tell a lot of the items or house made. Even the mimosas had some sort of syrup in them. That was also fresh and potentially made in house as well. This is a family oriented restaurant and is very spacious so I definitely recommend bringing your family here for a celebration, after church, etc. I will definitely be coming back to try the other items that I wanted to taste off of the menu. The only downside to this restaurant is like I said it's in a residential area so there wasn't a designated parking lot . Therefore, you have to find parking on the street. Scout's honor, brunch at Scout was just a-ok. We saw that Scout had outdoor seating and called ahead to check that we could brunch outdoors with our pup. Check! Service was pretty slow - from waiting at the host stand to getting seated to finally flagging down a server and getting our orders in, to finally getting our food... it was a long waiting game. I ordered the Phoenix, which is basically a fancy chicken and waffle - the waffle was fluffy and fragrant but the Nashville hot chicken on top was a bit disappointing - dry and flavor didn't give me Nashville hot vibes. The Triple Berry Jam French Toast was pretty good but nothing mind blowing. Overall, the brunch we had at Scout was just a-ok. But next time I will leave the pup at home and stop in for the fried chicken (because that's what I've heard the most rave reviews for) and hope for a better second try! read more

Scout has a cool vibe, being in an old building that they converted into a restaurant. Plus, their staff is always warm and welcoming. Also, the food was really unique here, and quite good! The sprouts were an unexpected combo of fruit, cheese, and veggies. Somehow, it all worked so well. That uniqueness carried through the whole meal too. I asked for salt, sister needed a spoon for her grits, ketchup for burger, etc. The waitress finally got civil and chatty when my sister pulled out her credit card to pay. It was very obvious, we all 3 noticed, simultaneously. (But my sister used to be a Pizza Hut waitress so she gave a very good tip.) Came here for brunch with a friend and left very happy! The restaurant is in an old building that's been updated so the floors are beautiful old (looking, anyway) wood but the rest is modernized. Very cute character and lots of windows and natural light. The staff very welcoming and quick-- from the host to the person to sat us to our waitress. At one point a fly flew into my mimosa and the host, who was walking by, immediately remade it. The menu didn't have a ton of selections but maybe that's for the best so you choose faster! There was plenty of parking all around, and then the little neighborhood was great to walk off all of the food we ate. I really wanted to like this spot, but the service was ridiculously slow. My bestie and I were seated right away and then we had multiple servers come get our drink order. It took them three tries to get just our water order correctly. I order hot water and my bestie, room temperature water and I'm guessing with the lack of communication and multiple servers coming to us, they couldn't get it right. However, we didn't change the order at all the three times they asked so that was interesting. We ordered the Brussels sprouts with pecans. It was highly recommended. The Brussels were good but I was not a fan of the pecans. Then, we waited like 30min or more for our actual dishes. When I asked the server, she said they were having a hard time with their new POS system and that's why it took so long. By the time we got our food, I was already irritated and def tried to still be nice because I didn't know the situation. They weren't very busy and had multiple servers so it didn't make any sense to me. The side spinach salad I got was not that great, but the corned beef hash I ordered was pretty good. When I asked for a to go box, they ran out and took another 10-15 minutes to figure out how we were gonna box our food. The check was provided for us and I had to start walking up to the host stand for us to be able to pay. It took 2 hours for the experience, and we def spent more time waiting. If my bestie and I didn't have a lot of catching up to do, my Karen def would've come out. Cause whew. The restrooms were also gendered, which I find fascinating in Atlanta when there are a good amount of restaurants with gender neutral restrooms. First and foremost, this place is gorgeous! It's somewhat tucked away so it'll be hard to find unless you've been here before and are super familiar with the area. There is street parking available and parking behind the restaurant through an entrance that's kind of hard to see. My friends and I made a reservation to dine here for Sunday brunch. They were packed so make sure to make reservations if you can! We were seated right away with menus and our server brought us out waters. We were all too busy chatting so our server had to come back a few times to our table to check if we were ready to order. For drinks, our group got a virgin bloody mary (still filled to the rim with garnishing), mimosas and sangria. I ordered the sangria and was quite tasty. For food, I ordered The Phelps (huge piece of fish deep fried in a batter with seaweed salad and aioli on top). I ate this as an open faced sandwich since it was huge! Their sandwiches are served with a side so I opted for sweet potato fries. The rest of our group ordered the Electric Boogaloo (waffle was okay and didn't have any flavor, breading for chicken thigh had cinnamon and was off-putting, slaw was also weird but somehow works together), Double Mason (asked for no buns due to gluten allergy - patties were super dry but had very good flavor), and steak and eggs. One of the girls in our group has been here for dinner and she preferred their dinner items over brunch. Decided to take my mom to Scout for brunch last week and we thoroughly enjoyed it. They're located in the Kirkwood neighborhood in Decatur. I found street parking nearby. To drink, my mom had a mimosa and I got the sangria. Both drinks were strong and delicious. For starters, we ordered the shrimp dip and the smoked wings. Both apps were scrumptious! For my entree I chose the steak and eggs. I was able to swap out the fingerling potatoes with fries. The steak wasn't exceptional and I probably would order something else when I return. The fries and eggs were cooked to perfection though. My mom enjoyed her chicken and waffles. Service was a bit shaky because the waitress disappeared for long periods of time, but we didn't complain because the service industry as a whole is having a rough time. Giving it two stars because our waitress was really good and attentive. We have been to Scout a few times and have generally been satisfied with everything but today the food was awful. I ordered the short rib entree and the mashed potatoes were very gluey and tasted like sour milk, the meat was dry and bland and the sauce was completely broken, greasy and still bland. My husband ordered the lamb chops which were overcooked, greasy and his whole meal was also bland. My daughter's grilled cheese and french fries were the only things that were even just ok. Okay, I am really impressed by this place and can't wait to come back! I met few coworkers here for happy hour and snacks in the early evening on a Wednesday. When we arrived, the patio was almost empty so we were lucky enough to snag a table there. By the time we left, every table on the patio was full. Maybe it was a combination of the company, or the service, or the sampling of food we tried, but everything was on-point here and I'm kinda mad I didn't discover this place sooner! I tried a Pimm's Cup cocktail and it was a perfectly crafted delicious concoction - so good that my coworker tried a sip and ordered one of her own! We had a variety of appetizers - battered cauliflower, soft pretzel bites, fried potatoes, and spicy fries. With the spicy fries, our server surprised us with her favorite condiment - the house blue cheese aioli. Y'ALL. I don't even like blue cheese but this stuff was PHENOMENAL. The menu isn't particularly interesting but we found a couple of items that appealed, so we gave it a try. On a Saturday night in December, we'd expected it to be busy and bustling, but it really wasn't. Great atmosphere and had several empty tables. They didn't seem staffed for a full restaurant, so perhaps this was expected. Once seated, we waited over 10 minutes for anyone to come and take drink orders, but service did speed up after that. Unfortunately, the food was good but not great, and we were pretty disappointed with the temperature of the food. A lovely and cold Sunday found me and a friend driving around looking for brunch. When I googled what was near us Scout came up. We were close parked and went it. We were greeted by a very charismatic woman named Jennifer. She seated us and told us Clair would be our waitress. We bantered with her for a few minutes and then started to look over the menu. It was brunch and the first thing I eyed were the deviled eggs. Jennifer returned and announced that she had talked Clair into taking our table. The comedy was about to begin. She was hilarious. We ordered drinks I got the old fashion and when I tell you it was a three finger pour it was just that. It put a smile on my face. The deviled eggs came shortly after and were topped with a bacon jam....sooo gooood. We split the lamb lollipops and ordered the banana fosters French toast. The young man that delivered them placed them in front of us and I announced..."Get the chef out here cause I'm gonna slap her!" It was meant to be a compliment but I think he was too young to get the reference. The French toast was so damn good! All the sudden the chef was at her table I believe her name was Crystal. She wanted to know why we wanted to slap her and even stated "A few of the guys in the kitchen were going to handle it" she decided to handle it her self.
