We were seated right away for our reservation after being greeted by the friendly hostess. The dining room is beautiful and intimate while spacious. There is also patio seating which is also a special space where they have been known to host weddings. Vera our waitperson was fantastic from start to finish. She was welcoming, talked about the restaurant, made excellent suggestions on all facets of the menu, helped with the wine selection and food choices and checked on us often. She is the true definition of service!! We started with cocktails and appetizers along with a bread basket. Don't skip the house old fashioned if you like bourbon. I even tried a mocktail and that was also good. Our first try with black bread. It was dense but tasty. The pimento fritters were crispy outside, creamy inside and complemented by the tomatillo jam. Calamari was perfectly done. Nice and crispy. The Caesar salad was freshly made with homemade croutons. I could go on about all the entrees but I'll leave it at this. Perfection. Not a miss among them. From the perfectly seared scallops, the duck breast or the blackened grouper we were all members of the clean plate club. My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time and it was just OK. Parking: There are a few free parallel parking spots directly in front of the restaurant, a small grassy area across the street that is also free, and a valet lot next to the restaurant for $6. The valet attendant was extremely nice! He asked if we had eaten there before, told us about the specials, and made several recommendations. Our waitress was pleasant but didn't offer any suggestions -- the valet attendant was nicer and actually did more than the waitress. We started with the $7 truffle french fries (happy hour portion, 4-7pm). They were enough for both of us. Crispy on the outside and soft in the center, but there was only a light dusting of cheese on the top layer of fries. It would be better if it were sprinkled throughout the entire pile. The grilled filet mignon ($52) was not good. It looked like ground hamburger shaped into an oval and had hardly any flavor at all. The lobster ravioli ($42) was just OK and was surrounded by a thin sauce. The flourless chocolate cake ($11) was delicious, and the espresso martini was also good. So the mains weren't great, but the dessert and drinks were. There's plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. The bathroom was clean. Wahoo grill is a staple in Decatur, but it wouldn't be my first recommendation if someone were searching for food in the area. They offer valet parking and the attendant is always so pleasant. This was our 2nd time eating here and both times I was underwhelmed. The food lacks flavor in my opinion. The mussels were ok, but with some added seasonings it would have been excellent. Their menu changes often, but it typically has a nice selection of items. This past visit, I had the crab bisque and fried chicken. The chicken was seasoned very well. For my entree, I had ny steak strip and double mash potatoes. I ordered medium well for my steak and the outside was burnt. Each piece had a burnt taste. I couldn't even eat it. Wahoo is amazing and one of the best date night spots in Atlanta!!! We came for dinner and we LOVED it. The inside is absolutely massive and we loved the decor. There's also a gorgeous garden attached which is perfect for weddings. Our server was super peppy and fun, and made some great recommendations. For apps, we had the crab soup and octopus, then we had the fried chicken, truffle Mac n cheese, and blackened salmon for dinner, and finally we finished with the peach ice cream sandwich. I know Calamari is a bit cliche, but I love it at Wahoo. They fry pieces of banana peppers in with the calamari and it makes for a delicious combo with the sauce. They have a very good burger, was slightly over done, and the truffle fries are insanely good! The seasonal beet salad is exceptional. Three of the pieces of tuna were really tough and I'm not sure why. I've never had tough to eat tuna in a tartar before. I got the steak. Was good but needed salt. The sauce it came with was very good. I asked our server for some sea salt. I should have taken a photo of the tiny amount she brought me in a small dish. I laughed thinking it was a joke! There was actually a wedding reception happening at that time and the decor set up was beautifully tranquil. We were seated at the 'chef's table' that was located right in front of the open kitchen. One of those places I'd seen a million times but had never visited. Had no problem getting a same-day reservation on their website. Having never been there before, I chose the main dining room. Food-wise, I absolutely loved the sous-vide octopus starter. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it being served with hummus but now I'm wondering why I've had octopus without it all this time. For dinner I had the seared halibut -- again, outstanding. The risotto could have done without the sundried tomatoes, however. Just the artichokes and mushrooms plus the pesto sauce would have been enough. My bf had the pork chop and remarked that it was a bit dry and sweet, even though he had subbed the sweet potato side for regular potatoes. In terms of ambiance, we were a little disappointed with how close the tables are to each other. The restaurant was far from packed and yet we were seated right next to a table of four. There was a curtain separating us on the other side from that set of diners, but we could still hear everything that was said at both tables. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. It seemed like it took a while for things to come out, but that also could have been deliberate. A nice reprieve from the many places we've been to where you're basically rushed out the door. The owner responded with an unprofessional remark of calling my review "dishonest" and said that my party returned cleaned plates to I guess justify that my review was of no credibility. Then Continued to present me leaving this review as being full on negative whilst still giving credit where it is due, because they indeed do have a BOMB bread pudding. Then proceeds to say "vindictive people can taint an actual credible review app that guests use for guidance on where to dine." as if i didn't use the reviewing app...to REVIEW. Also described me as vindictive....for explaining my experience? Constructive Criticism nothing more, nothing less. Will bump it up 1 Star since the owner is responsive. lol Starting off they gave NO effort towards the kids menu items, ordered the butter pasta and received boiled noodles and when notifying staff, was told "well it is a butter sauce" after further proving that it was indeed just plain unsalted pasta shells served in boiled water, rather than you know... a BUTTER SAUCE. The Kids tenders and fries were for sure Sysco certified, so tasted like nothing. Everyone who ordered steaks within our party either had it overcooked or undercooked. Salmon lacked visual and tasteful keys, and all sides lacked EVERYTHING, from the Mashed Potatoes having a lingering pasty taste, giving you the thought that they had to be cooked in water rather than a smooth base, to the Green Beans feeling straight up microwaved. The Brownies brought out for dessert were not Brownies, more so a fudge and having mixed textures from them being sooo cold. THERE IS NO BALANCE OF FLAVOR, and it felt like nothing mixed at all on none of these plates. The only redeeming factor of this place is the bread pudding, definitely a banger. I am so glad that I was finally able to try Wahoo because it was an amazing experience! I'm telling you right away that you should definitely check it out and you won't regret it. The space is extremely beautiful and has a lot of room to sit with an outside patio, a covered patio, and an inside dining room. It is also an open kitchen and I love being able to watch them make the food. The drinks were also so good. We got the falcons grace cocktail and tropic breeze mocktail and they were both so good. The falcons grace was on we weren't sure about but the flavors really worked together. The tropic breeze had a great pineapple flavor and a perfect tropical flavor. We were also able to talk to Brett who is the restaurant manager but also helped redo the cocktail program. He let us know that everything is made fresh and anything that isn't branded is made by them which I love. The food is definitely the star. Everything we had was delicious and I loved that every aspect of the dishes went together. We had the yeast rolls and fried green tomatoes with bbq shrimp for the appetizers and they were delicious. It was such a good portion size and just a great start to the meal. We got the Grilled Redfish and Ahi Tuna for entrees and wow, just so good! I loved that every bite was just incredible. The Ahi Tuna has been on the menu for all 18 years that they have opened and I can see why. Every dish is so well thought out and it is all so good. I dined here on a weeknight with my friend-we sat in the garden room which was a nice ambiance. There's valet parking, but I just parked a short walk down a residential side street and walked over to the restaurant. The service was great, and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. I loved the Crime of Passion Cocktail as well as the antipasto skewers to start. I tried the shrimp mole with grit cake but it was pretty bland, so I don't really recommend. For mains, I recommend the half rack of lamb (gluten-free)-it was super tasty, tender, and seasoned well. We also tried the scallops with crab that came in a curry sauce (gluten-free), but something about the texture of the dish threw me off. It was still tasty, though. Lastly, you must try the flourless chocolate cake (gluten-free). It was so moist and decadent and topped with a delicious fig jam. This spot is great for a celebration or a date night. We were happy to score a prime time spot on Saturday night. First off, the valet is a joke. The parking lot is gravel and immediately behind the restaurant. They leave at 8, so you have to walk to your car and pay them the $4 for the trouble on top of anything you tip. We were seated promptly and the host was nice. The place was not very busy at all - possibly due to staffing? The food was OK. One of our party was vegetarian, so we requested the BBQ shrimp be on the side of the fried green tomatoes (app) and were assured that would be the case. It was night. They were literally touching. Fortunately our friend was accommodating. The yeast rolls were swimming in clarified butter. Fortunately, we love clarified butter, but wow. We asked the waiter to tell us a little more about the wines if he was familiar - he said he was, only to BS some vague description (less helpful than was was printed on the menu). This was after we engaged him while he was overing next to me on his tablet/ordering device. He went on to try to upsell at every opportunity with little to no tact. I get it, it's part of the role, but there was no sort of conversation. It was like "Do you want 5 pieces of Ahi or 10?. Some people like more..." There is no mention of this on the menu. He asked if I wanted my redfish with the crab. I didn't recall that so I had to explicitly ask him if that was something additional. The appetizers came out about a minute before the entrees. We refilled our own water glasses. The waiter added a 20% service fee on to the check without a mention. I spoke with the manager who indicated that it was an error with the ordering device and made the correction, but there was NO mention or indication that this was the case. Since we split the check by couple, my friend had to have his charge reversed, because he didn't notice either. After 10 minutes, the manager had it resolved. Not a single apology from the waiter. Oh and here comes the valet needing the $4 for the car and hands us the keys. Bathrooms had no paper towels. At least they were clean. There's no way that they can charge the prices they do for the quality of service offered. We won't be back since there are so many options around the area. It was so disappointing. read more

Came here for a family birthday dinner and was very impressed! Food was fresh and delicious, the ambiance was perfect, light and cute with the garden theme and tin roof. They even had a kids menu that placated my tiny humans (according to my daughter, their buttered noodles are the best she has ever had!) We sampled a lot of their menu from their calamari (yum!) and crab bisque (delicious) to their cocktails and wine, entrees (my dad and husband raved about their ahi tunas, my tacos were good but nothing too special) and finally trying all the desserts (my daughter inhaled their flourless chocolate cake and I loved the butterscotch pot de creme, the lemon cheesecake was also nice and light!). Their little dessert portions great for everyone to have a bite! Fantastic service, our server was on top of everything. I can see how this would be a great space for a bridal luncheon or baby shower too! Their outdoor covered spaces looked amazing. read more

I'm giving 5 stars because we absolutely love this place . We went back tonight bc I have the Atlanta Passbook and it's about to expire. I didn't want to miss this offer. The service and food was great. Toni was our server, she was super friendly and very helpful. We had the salmon and the Tuna. Both dishes were delicious. The salmon was seasoned well. It came with succotash, which I love. Their version was a little heavy on the corn. I still enjoyed it. For dessert we got the bread pudding. We normally get the bread pudding but tonight was better than I remembered!! We were seated outdoors in their lovely patio area. I would have felt comfortable indoors also as they have dividers as well as a nice amount of space between the tables. We had a very interesting interaction with the manager Dewey. He is not very customer centric. It's a super long story but the way he spoke to both us and Amanda, who was behind the bar, left me with my mouth opened in shock. I've never experienced anything but great customer service from here so I didn't want to take a star off but I almost feel like I would call to make sure he's not on duty when I go back. read more
