Blew Me Away Everything Was a Hit This place absolutely blew me away. The atmosphere was amazing perfect dinner hangout or date spot. Great vibe without trying too hard. The food? Incredible across the board. I'm not even a big fish guy, but I got the fish and chips and loved it. That alone says a lot. Spinach dip loved it. Fish tacos loved them. Dessert loved it. Beer loved it. There's a ton of variety on the menu, and everything we tried delivered. That kind of consistency is rare. Service was over-the-top good. Table for 2 for Lunch We were shopping in the area and did a quick Internet search for lunch and found Wheelhouse Craft Pub and Kitchen. We had been in this part of Decatur many times and I never heard of it. We took the quick 5 minute ride over and I realized we had passed it many times. I think it had a different name last I noticed. As we approached I noticed the nice sized parking lot. A quick estimate, it could hold about 40 - 50 cars. I quickly found an open spot and walked over to the entrance. We entered and I could see the host walking toward us. He greeted us warmly, we let him know we were a party of 2 and preferred to sit outside. He informed us we could head out there and pick our own seat. We walked through the dark interior and headed outside using the side door. We found a table at the end of the patio near the front of the restaurant. There was plenty of outside seating on their patio and many of the tables were covered or had an umbrella. It was a little cooler than I expected so I ran back over to the car to pick up my jacket. I returned to the table and our friendly server came by and asked if we were ready to order. We were happy to see they had an extensive beer menu and I chose the Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA from Hi-Wire brewing and Wifey ordered the Harp Lager. For food, we kept it simple and decided to share the Pork Nachos appetizer. Our waters came out next, and then the beers came out soon after. As we were hanging around and enjoying the patio I noticed the place was very dog friendly. The Pork Nachos arrived and were excellent. It was not a huge portion, but the perfect size for what we were looking for. The chips were crispy and the pulled pork was seasoned well. All the ingredients worked well together. I rarely disagree with my fellow yelpers, but I'm going to side with the minority on this spot. The positives- nice cozy pub vibe, and service was fine. The food was just overall disappointing. Sad because I wanted to love this place. We got deviled eggs, which were ok, along with cauliflower bites- also just ok. Dipping sauce for the cauliflower bites was a bottled sauce like a sweet n sour sauce from a Chinese restaurant. My friend really enjoyed his wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. The biggest disappointment was my entree, which I chose based on strong encouragement from our server. First off- if you have a special that is out of line with the pricing of your other entrees, I think it's appropriate to mention the price when pitching it to customers. Entrees here are in the $14-$17 range mostly, which is fair pricing. This special was a surprise $23 when the bill arrived - and it was just 3 sausage links and some subpar mashed potatoes. Way overpriced for this version of "Bangers and mash." The sausages were overcooked and the mashed potatoes were a bit grainy, not creamy or fluffy or buttery or any of the things mashed potatoes should be. They were just sort of thin and not great. My friend said they tasted like instant. I did find an enormous chunk of potato in them, which seemed like an oversight since they were not the "smashed" potatoes style. They were otherwise smooth except for a very large potato chunk. Not a huge deal but just an example of the food being off. To be honest, the food here didn't give me instantaneous wow vibes since pub-style food isn't really that inventive or creative enough to amaze me. Poutine: I've had poutine at various places now, and I must say this place had the best version. There was the right amount of cheese curds and gravy. The fries were the perfect crispy texture. And because the gravy was the right amount, the fries stayed crispy versus become soggy. There was plenty of the Guinness braised beef so it was a nice ratio of protein and carb. There's definitely a ton of meat for this pick so it's a pretty good deal. Nashville chicken with and addition of pimento cheese: Surprisingly, the the sandwich wasn't really spicy at all. There was a slight kick, but that was about it. If you're hesitant about ordering this because you're afraid of the spice level, it's really more like mild on the spicy scale. I'm not one to eat much spicy food, and it was fine to my palette. The hubs thought Nashville chicken would be really spicy, but it's really not so. Go ahead. Order it. :) The addition of the pimento cheese was so heavenly delicious. It made the sandwich more progressively messy to consume, but it was so much more hardy and scrumptious! If you love cheese, take the leap! Crispy brussels: These were pretty tasty and actually crispy. Getting brussel sprouts crispy on the exterior and cooked well for the interior is actually a hard balance to achieve. FR 2026: You gotta love cozy, pub-like restaurants! This was a nice find close to my work. I will say parking can be dicey, and leaving here can be rough if you're trying to take a left. I had zero expectations coming here and left feeling like I found a diamond in the rough. I've been here 3 times now and have settled on the fish and chips, along with the Weihenstephaner Hefe on draft. The fish has flaked perfectly every time! The crispy cauliflower bites are also very good! It's not an overpriced place and menu options are a step above typical bar food. Mark and I came here for the first time because he was craving fish and chips and he found the recommendations on Yelp. Our visit was awesome and we still can't believe that we have never dined here before and it's just 15 minutes from our house. Service was friendly and the food was delicious. The dining area is spacious and clean and it reminded us of pubs that we visited on vacation in the UK. The craft cocktails were delicious and we enjoyed multiple rounds. During my bi-weekly visit to Atlanta I wanted to pickup lunch before my 2-hour drive back home and discovered Wheelhouse Craft Pub and Kitchen thanks to Yelp. I made a to go order online, the website was user-friendly and easy to navigate. Regardless of your dietary needs there is something on the menu for carnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians. The selection of food was what you would expect from a pub like fish and chips, burgers, wings, sandwiches and some unusual suspects like crispy cauliflower bites and their house Bean Burger. It was hard to decide on what to order but I settled on fish tacos with a side of Brussel Sprouts. Finding the restaurant was a bit of a challenge, I drove past it the first time and had to loop back around. The sign for the restaurant was faded and their tiny parking lot has a small entrance. When I finally made my way into the quaint parking lot thankfully there were spots available it was 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and they were filling up fast. When I walked in the restaurant to grab my order, the restaurant was cozy and casual. The hostess was friendly and handed me my food shortly after arriving. If I had more time I would have definitely dined in and watched a game. Their patio is dog friendly which is always a plus for us dog lovers on nice days. No option for virgin or mocktail drinks. I mean... really? It's a full bar and can't even do a Shirley Temple? I got a loaded baked potato ($8). Nothing to say honestly. You'll need extra butter and salt for sure. I wanted something that didn't involve a lot of bread and for sides, if you wanted something other than fries, chips, salad or brussels, you're out of luck. Decided to stop in after my friend was craving chicken tenders specifically. Originally she was craving some chicken tenders that she loved from a now closed business so I had to find her a great alternative to satisfy. If you are hungry this is a good stop. After you eat the fully loaded bake potato you will have to go home and take a nap. The fish and chips are always good and a mainstay it's a good portion size . The Guinness stew is perfect this time of year. What's nice is they also have a couple of shareable items when you are meeting friends and not eating a full dinner. Great pub to get a few drinks or even a better place to go for some food. The food is really good here. It's southern bar food, so sandwiches, wings, different potato options things like that. But the menu isn't big, I think places with a smaller menu really specialize and the things they cook. The building isn't huge so maybe a 12 families can sit inside at once (not including bar sitting). They do have good outdoor space but there are no heaters out there so it's only good in the hotter or warmer months. Parking lot isn't huge either so might be best to carpool if you can. Everytime I go to Wheelhouse I think to myself dang I need to come here more. Such a great place with a good vibe to it. The inside is a great size, it's not massive and not too small, it's open and bright and they have a bar with multiple TVs. The TVs are noticeable throughout the whole inside but they're not massive and obnoxious looking like a sports bar. Also, in the outside there's a roomy deck with TVs as well. All of the service, food, and drinks from Wheelhouse are amazing! I typically have a beer from their decent sized beer list. Grab some wings or nachos. Today was our second visit to Wheelhouse Craft Pub and Kitchen in Decatur. The first visit was so yummy, we had to try it again to make sure that this truly is our new favorite lunch spot! The ambiance is great, with low lighting, great but subtle music, and a comfortable pub feeling. We selected our table, per the Seat Yourself sign at the entrance. Staff came over to make sure our table was clean, then our server, Cameron, greeted us and took our drink order. There are plenty of great beers on draft from which to choose, and water arrived with our beer. We had a moment to check out the menu and the daily specials, then Cameron was right there to take our order. Last visit, my husband had their special BLT sandwich and homemade potato chips, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Today he opted for the Wheelhouse Burger with Swiss cheese and bacon, with the homemade potato chips - another hit! He says it was the best restaurant burger he remembers eating! I had the Pesto Chicken sandwich with the Brussels Sprouts side. Both were delicious - again!! Cameron was extremely attentive and friendly, frequently checking back to see if we needed anything. We had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and drinks, and read our books. With great ambiance, delicious food, cold draft beer, and friendly servers all in an easily accessible location, this is a great place for lunch - and also for dinner, if you are in the area. Wheelhouse Pub is ok with me. We stopped in not expecting much but a few decent drinks and some small bites but after looking at other reviews we decided to try the menu. Maken cheese balls for starters, they need salt but they get an A for effort. The fish was cod. A very generous portion fried to perfection, accompanied with fries. The fish tacos were very tasty also. My baked potato could have been a little more "loaded" but all and all no complaints.
